Service was mediocre, we never received our appetizer, hominy stew with bison came out only warm not hot at all and it's a little ambitious to say there's bison in there! My husband had their biscuits and gravy with potatoes, eggs, and fruit. His food was better than mine, but it was not hot. Probably the best part of the meal was the fry bread. Otherwise nothing I would want to return for. We had reservations and our wait time was reasonable. The wait for our food was a little bit long, and we were surprised when it finally came out because we had not yet received our appetizer. We just asked them to cancel the appetizer. It was just my husband and I we were a party of two. a party of six came in after us, and received their appetizers and their food before we received ours. It was our first time to eat at the Thirty Nine restaurant. For the appetizer we had the Corn Ribs. They were tasty and I could have eaten more because we split it. Let's face it, Turkey is turkey, but there is a really favorable herb something the chef invented that makes the sandwich worthwhile...that and the toasted buttered bread. I want to like this place and feel the potential is there but it just misses the mark in a few areas. First of all, the price for the food is a bit high for what you get. The bison burger wasn't anything special. The kids mac & cheese was quite good. My husband ordered a beet & jicama salad and this was laughable. It should never have been called a salad. The presentation was beautiful but for the price you would expect a bowl of greens with jicama and beet on top. Nope, it was small stacks of circular shaped cuts of jicama & beetroot. Not filling at all and no salad greens. Our service was painfully slow at brunch and we waited 30 minutes for waters and another 15 for our order to be taken. We finally got our food after another 30-40 minutes. Maybe it was an off day but the portion sizes and "salad" did not make up for the wait. I'm sad that I'll be hesitant to eat here again. read more

Thoughtful menu combining familiar and unusual ingredients in some creative ways. My husband and I split the 39 Turkey Sandwich and the Three Sisters. The combination of garlic sage aioli, cranberry jam and sage-pinon pesto on shaved turkey between a couple slices of perfectly toasted multigrain was unexpected and delicious. The three sisters in indigenous gardens are corns, beans and squash (learned that during our museum tour). In the dish served at Thirty Nine, the sisters rest on a bed of nicely cooked wild rice along with the sage-pinon pesto. It's yummy, healthy and the portion is huge and perfect for sharing with the table. Things we'll be going back for include the above-mentioned turkey sandwich, the Cobb Salad, Hominy Stew, Butternut Squash Soup, Skillet Corn Bread, and the Bison Burger. There are a couple of desserts including a creme brulee and a chocolate sponge cake that may require a desserts-only trek in the near future. This place lived up to its positive reviews on sites like this one and in The Oklahoman. My wife and I had brunch here on a recent weekend. I ordered the FAMous bison burger; she ordered biscuits and gravy. Our meals came out presented in visually appealing ways. For example, my french fries were stacked like log cabin logs, at 90 degree angles, three stories high. (Our server let us know that the restaurant was out of sweet potato fries before we placed our orders.) I ordered my bison burger "without pink" and with the condiments on the side. The burger came out cooked to my request. I am glad that I ordered the tomato jam on the side since in my opinion, you can't taste the house blend aioli in addition to the tomato jam. The aioli was a much better accompaniment to the bison burger and arugula. Instead of the squash pickles listed in the menu description, the burger came with crunchy bits that tasted like onion rings (but maybe they were yellow squash?). Everything in this burger was thoughtfully chosen except the bun. If they want to take it over the top, the menu designer could think about either the provenance of its ingredients or a change in ingredients entirely. In the former case, the menu could say something about where the flour comes from. For example, does it come from a flour mill in Oklahoma or a flour mill owned by First Americans? Going in another direction, they could find a bun made from grains native to North America, e.g. the amaranth that is highlighted on the back of the menu. For dessert, we enjoyed some complimentary flan. It was served with a crunchy lemon sugar bark and a single fresh raspberry for each of us. Mmmm! We will definitely return for another visit and hope that they can add breakfast and/or dinner service in the near future. read more

However when I went again I found the homney stew to be just ok and same about the biscuits and gravy and the crème brûlée. Given the hefty price i expected food to be on the level of the corn ribs. However the worst part was the service. The waiters were attentive about the food but when my daughter fell and got a bloody lip and water spilled everywhere they saw and heard this but no one offered to help. read more

We came for lunch and wanted to report that the food and service were incredible and the overall experience "wowed" us, much like the museum itself! We were pleased to hear that the restaurant is itself a destination - just enter at the theater entrance, and they accept reservations as well! We ordered the white bean hummus and fry bread as a starter which was a perfect combination of warm, pillow-like bread with a flavorful and creamy spread that was plentiful. The bison burgers were cooked perfectly and sweet potato fries were warm and crispy. The three sisters sauté was flavorful and had complex textures including wild rice which resulted in a magical combination of tastes. The shaved turkey that was used in the Cobb salad and turkey sandwich tasted premium and the flavor combination of fresh ingredients used showed that these were expertly crafted dishes created by an engaged chef. I also wanted to mention the open, airy feel of the restaurant with an expansive view of the landscape provided an unexpected and inspiring addition to the overall experience.
