My dear friend and I stopped in here for breakfast and had the best experience!! We sat at the counter and had a delicious down home breakfast!! We had eggs, bacon, biscuits, French toast and home fries. It felt like we were 18 again!! The staff was warm and friendly, and patient (for those who know me, know that I like to relish my experience perusing the menu). I think this place should be a must before hitting the beach. Dinner tasted better but took longer. Breakfast was bland but came out fast. Covid restrictions are way too loose. Staff including owners, busboys, others with no masks. Waitresses are wearing masks, but the owners/managers are helping with serving without masks. What's the point? Full capacity, all tables being used. Not enforcing masks with incoming customers. No distancing being enforced. If this bothers you, don't go. They're clearly not on board with the program. read more

Waitress was great. The rest was a complete disappointment. All food was bland and cold! Yes COLD! Cold bacon. Cold grits (instant??? So gross!!!). Cold biscuits and gravy. Not just sat out for a minute on the counter cold... but out of the fridge, wasnt reheated properly cold. So disappointing. Oh and the sausage patties looked more like hockey pucks. My boyfriend and I went to breakfast this morning and got sat at the end of the bar where the hosts have their station set up so it was inevitable to not overhear all of their conversations. There was a younger lady running the hosts stand who was the most disrespectful person I've ever witnessed in my life. There was also an older man who was her helper at the host stand. The way she talked to/ treated him was disgusting. My boyfriend and I are very young and new to the adult world but we know that is no way to treat a coworker. She was constantly telling him he did things wrong and cursing and pushing him to the side every time he tried to help. We wanted to try to find the manager but we're rushed out but if you see this old man working the host stand please give him props because he was truly trying his best. read more

As a restaurant owner, I only leave reviews for positive experiences. I prefer to contact the establishment directly if it is a negative experience. That said, this place is awesome, simply for the service. The food is standard diner breakfast. Very good, but not what prompted me to leave a review. David was our server and was phenomenal. Treated us and each customer that I watched him interact with as if they were the most important people in the restaurant. We vacation here quite often and will definitely become regulars. read more

Food was great. Went on a Saturday morning around 10:30 and they had a wait but it was a matter of minutes until we got seated. My friend ordered the shrimp and grits and shared a bite with me, it was heavily!! Almost wanted to order some myself and box up my food. Don't get me wrong. The western omelette was delicious! This is where the locals eat breakfast. During the summer, this place is packed with the weekend visitors. Good pancakes (or flapjacks), pretty good omelets, decent waffles and must have grits with butter. Like may establishments, you can find packets of grape or strawberry jam at each table along with butter and cream for your coffee. As many times as i have eaten here it is hard to order something other than a breakfast item. The wait staff is always friendly and willing to talk to you. Seldom do I give an old school diner 5 stars, but we love this place! It's a welcoming environment, but it can be a bit loud when it's busy. The food is not fancy, but it's down-home comfortable with generous servings. The service is fun, flexible, and seem genuinely interested in providing a warm enjoyable meal. (Dana is especially great with kids). Don't go if you want fancy, but if you want to start your day with a full belly of happiness, you won't be disappointed! read more

We have been coming to this restaurant when we come down to our beach cottage for several years now it used to be in a different location it was owned by mel. Super nice individual always very hospitable when seen at work location.... We came to the restaurant to eat lunch on 4th of July it was fairly busy but not anything to overwhelming....I am district manager for a chain restaurant I have five restaurants underneath my belt that are in my district that I run we pride ourselves on hospitality and proper treatment of our staff..... I have to say that the food at this restaurant was good it always has been . the service was good as well ..but apparently Mel does not own it anymore. as we were getting ready to leave a lady could be heard belittling her employees from the kitchen you could hear it in the dining area. then she comes out of the kitchen with a sour nasty look on her face whole experience ruined my dining experience there.. I wondered who this lady was so I asked.. they said it was the owner, her name is Anita. I feel sorry for the staff that has to work there underneath an owner who participates in running the store and talks to her employees like they're dirt.. I asked if they had a high turnover rate and was told yes... And I could see why...so Anita if you're reading this review can I make it a suggestion. Why don't you try leading by example and being positive and nice to people even when they make mistakes just because you're miserable doesn't mean that you have to make the rest of your staff miserable. If you continue on this road you were going to run your restaurant into the ground. .. Maybe if you had a better attitude you wouldn't have such a high turnover rate ....and your employees would work better for you. I've worked from the bottom to the top in a restaurant and I can tell you from experience no one wants to be treated and talk to like a piece of garbage... you're an owner of a restaurant you should know better than to be little your staff like that ..and I can tell you one thing you would not last a moment working for me even as a hourly manager.. very disappointed in my dining experience. will not be going there again.. food is good but my suggestion is if you want to try this place out... take it to go.. because a run in with this horrible owner definitely left a bad taste in our mouth.... Miserable people should not own restaurants.. you're providing a toxic environment for your guest s and your staff... Good, but not great. Breakfast here was good and service was fast. I wouldn't say that their food is "omg amazing". It was a little pricey for the quality. We ordered an omelette with bacon, cheese, and mushrooms and the mushrooms were canned. The grits were good but needed to be dressed up with salt and butter. The biscuit was very big. This is a family-operated diner on the island. It's about what we expected. . . busy, dated, and a bit cramped. . . but our waitress Gina (I think) was friendly and accommodating. Our food was diner quality and a it overpriced, but not ridiculous. They serve just about anything you can think of, which makes them a bit of a "jack of all trades, master of none," type of kitchen. Had lunch here. Horrible service, Owners were rude. We ordered a shrimp burger and flounder filet sandwich. What we got was frozen fried shrimp thrown onto a roasted bun without any condiments, lettuce, etc. The same with the flounder. And charged us $19 for crappy food and service. Someone should educate the owners to what a good shrimp burger is and what condiments to add to these type sandwiches. AlI other items on the menu are overpriced and i am sure also of poor quality. The place hasn't been updated since probably 1979, but that's cool cuz it's like taking a step back in time.
