The location in LIC feels tucked away in a good way, and once you're inside, the interior is clean, warm, and very Instagram-friendly, especially when the pasta hits the table. There's a clear attention to detail across the board, from presentation to flavor. It's the kind of place that works perfectly for a date night or a relaxed dinner where you're sharing everything. My Tipsy Tayke: The Myrtle Ave was a 5/5, sweet, refreshing, and easily my favorite of the night. The Clinton Hill leaned pineapple-forward with a nice spicy kick, while the Osteria Brooklyn cocktail drank like an elevated alcoholic smoothie. Overall, really enjoyable drink program. Re-visited this place after this initial opening month visit left a reasonable impression. Quality seems to have dropped, they didn't do the giant cheese wheel pasta thing, the food was mid and overpriced. The flatbread pizza was a classier Elios pizza (which was the only highlight here!). Attached is their twenty buckaroo (after tax+tip) salad. Unfortunately won't be returning. Packing a lunch and pinicking on the park is the way to go, or go to one of the other countless italian-ish restaurants in the are. read more

I have very mixed feelings. They have the best burger BUT... I have had trouble w the cocktails. I have type 1 diabetes so I can tell within 10 minutes whether something has way more sugar than advertised (ie other ingredients listed or they did not listen to my plea to NOT include the sugar/juice.) I had 2 "cocktails" that should have been tequila and 1oz of campari ... which I dosed for perfectly. I ended up needing 7x more insulin to cover it as I should have. I had told the server I was diabetic and to please be sure there was no hidden sugar (not listed on the ingredients... I had already asked for no passion fruit) and 1oz of campari. I felt like it tasted pretty sweet but I had confirmed w the server and been clear that it was a medical reason... but clearly it was not relayed to the bartender and now I am home w an almost 300 blood sugar. Went here with a group of friends for dinner. The place is by the waterfront of LIC overlooking Manhattan's skyline. It has a cozy ambiance and we went around 8pm so it wasn't crowded. We had made a reservation as well. They have a variety on their menu and a couple good vegetarian dishes. I tried their Fettuccine Alfredo and Gonnchi Pesto without the pizza crust. The portions for both was filling. They gave us a cheese wheel demo for the Fettuccine Alfredo which was a cute touch. The prices are on the higher side but that's what we can expect with pasta. The service was nice and I'd recommend this place to others. Note: There is street parking but it might be hard to get. My friend hosted his pre-graduation celebration here of 75 people. Osteria was not ready. Poor planning, struggling mid-tier service, and thick warm air stacks up real quick. The restaurant provided a course set meal: appetizer, main entree, and dessert. It took 3 hours and 45 minutes from when the party started to delivering the main entree meal. They weren't slow. They were understaffed, severely. The bartender mid-way switched to busting and serving food. Food-- mid. It's a large party, so I get it. Quality was minimal and quantity is high. Shutout the bruschetta & prosciutto though-- that was bomb. The Bar was chaos. 3 people to hold the fort down for our party and the general public outdoor seating. Had to repeat my order 3 times before getting their signature drink, Aperol Spritz. It felt like the Bartender was ignoring me, as I patiently sat there, repeated the same order with a smile, only for him to mumble and do something else. Bartending is hard service. What was lacking was acknowledgement. "Hey you're next" or "I got two other orders ahead of you." Another bartender had minimal knowledge on drink combinations. I would ask her what was in the drinks, and she immediately cast off any questions to the next bartender. This happened the entire night with any questions. What if someone had an allergy? What if the drink was supposed to be a mocktail? She wouldn't know. No A/C. Just a swamp, heat trapping sauna. Poor ventilation and venue to accommodate air flow. A lot of older adults at this party. I was worried they would suffer a heat stroke. Dessert was never served to my table, lol. Osteria, my friend, I hope you give your staff a raise. They hauled ass. Sunday Brunch! I've had Osteria Brooklyn bookmarked for toooo long.... Finally got the chance to visit for brunch on a Sunday. It was a beautiful summer Sunday, outdoor seating was at capacity so we chose to sit inside. As soon as we walked in we were greeted and seated. Our waitress was over shortly after sitting to introduce herself and give a few recommendations. I opted for the bottomless brunch option. This includes your choice of entree (I had the steak sandwich) along with 60 mins of unlimited cocktails. The white sangria was phenomenal!!! Very refreshing, not too sweet and not too strong. We had an extremely disappointing experience dining here with our family. Despite having a reservation, there was confusion finding it, though we were seated relatively quickly. The floor beneath our table was visibly dirty, and even after requesting it be cleaned, it was poorly done. The meal was slow, even though it was a prix-fixe menu, and our kids were left waiting so long that it caused distress. We even had to pour our own wine. When the food finally arrived, it was simply bad--my fish was poorly prepared, the kids' burger was inedible, and the desserts were unpleasant. I've lived in LIC for 5 years, and this was the worst service experience I've had anywhere in NYC. Anywhere is better than here, down to the food trucks nearby. When we were seated, we weren't given menus. We had to borrow them from the table next to us. After waiting, we flagged down a server to ask if we could order gelato and lemonade. His response was literally: "No lemonade. For gelato, what do you want?" The gelato options weren't in the menu so I asked what were the options. He rolled his eyes and told 4 options. Even though we later found there were a lot more flavors. No greeting, no explanation, nothing. We ordered. He then asked the table next to us what kind of water they wanted and I asked the same and he rolled his eyes again. Later, the owner or manager (Italian man with gray hair) came over and asked what we wanted to drink. I told him we're not sure, we haven't received drink menus. He loudly replied: "Then ask for it." I ordered an Italian soda (Limonata). He brought me a pomegranate soda instead. At that point, I didn't even bother correcting it. My friend ordered an Aperol Spritz, which took about 20 minutes to arrive. Our small gelato scoops took another 30 minutes. Meanwhile, nearly every table around us was having issues: - The table next to us waited forever for a "skinny margarita," which eventually arrived as a regular margarita loaded with sugar. The table next to us also had issues with the food itself. One woman ordered fried oysters, and when they finally arrived, she looked at them and said, "These aren't fried. They're just burnt." - A young couple nearby waited over an hour for calamari after repeatedly asking about it. - Another couple waited over an hour for food after finally receiving their Aperol Spritzes 30 minutes late, then gave up and left entirely. - The woman behind us waited an hour for food as well. When we finally wanted to leave, our waiter repeatedly ignored us even while we were actively trying to flag him down. He'd look at us and ignore us. I eventually had to walk inside and ask the owner for the check directly because we literally could not get anyone to acknowledge us. The interaction somehow got worse. The owner asked what drinks we got, then immediately cut me off with "I KNOW what drinks you got," loudly announced the total, and when I asked to see the breakdown, he snapped: "Put your card on the reader." The atmosphere overall was chaotic and hostile. The owner was yelling at customers in the walkway about blocking the path while he himself was standing in the middle of it. Servers addressed people in clipped one-word phrases like "drink?" and "food?" with zero professionalism. The most telling part: while waiting to leave, we spoke to multiple people waiting outside with reservations who had already been waiting a long time. After hearing about our experience -- and seeing the chaos themselves -- several decided to leave. Also, apparently they do have lemonade. They just "only give it to children." I popped in another time for a quick happy hour drink and sat at the bar. Paid cash for my $8 cocktail and the bartender thought she could keep the change from my $20 as her tip, I'm a good tipper but $12 for a mediocre $8 cocktail is a bit presumptuous. Today (Saturday) I stopped by for a late lunch with my folks around 3ish. We were started off with a basket of assorted breads with a lovely dip (tomato/red pepperish?). For apps, we settled on the Lobster Salad, Crunchy Salmon Tartare, and Shrimp Ceviche. The lobster salad had nice, big chunks of lobster, with some arugula, grape tomato, oranges, seaweed salad - delightful The crunchy salmon tartare was essentially dressed salmon ceviche on crispy wild rice - nice contrast of textures, very yummy. The shrimp ceviche was served with some house-made tortilla chips for scooping purposes - fresh and delicious. For Mains, I got the short ribs with veggies (or poleta) - I'm always a sucker for their short ribs and these were super super tender and absolutely scrumptious. The veggie medley was also excellent. While I'd normally go for their bread pudding for dessert, we were all pretty stuffed at this point, and opted to say some calories...but that just means next time I'll pretty much have to indulge. I wish that wine was also included in the offering and the speed at which the drinks came was slow even though it wasn't very crowded and no one was in the bar area. Osteria has a great location right on the east river in lic. Sit out doors and on the perfect day it's magical. The service is great as well very attentive kept waters filled checked if you need anything and had recommendations. Here's where they get dinged in the food. The pizza was excellent. Good size, brick over nice amount of cheese to sauce ration and had fig which was. An excellent complement. The watermelon salad was where they were slacking . It didn't go well together at all corn arugula a slice of watermelon shrimp and cherry tomatoes. It lacked depth and continuity. Would give them a higher rating but it's more than a pizza place so you come for other stuff and I think this is indicative of the menu. It was alright... while the service was very attentive, the whole reason we picked this restaurant was based on the positive reviews. I should have checked platforms other than google, because my experience was decidedly average. We went with the truffle pizza and Pappardelle Oxtail Ragu and winter pizza. Of the three, the winter pizza, with its smoked prosciutto, red wine figs, spicy honey, pecorino was the tastiest. However, the pizza portions were quite small. For the price, I expected much more in terms of portion size as well as taste. The truffle pizza barely tasted like it, and the Pappardelle Oxtail Ragu had a muted flavor as well. I live in the neighborhood and have eaten at Osteria a few times. The food is good great view. I went there today with my daughter and was disappointed. My daughter had the spinach ravioli and i had the eggplant pizza. As my daughter had finished her raviolis she noticed 2 long strands of hair in the sauce. It was gross. We showed them to the waiter who then tried to compare and see if it was my daughter's hair as if I was trying to get over for a free meal. Then I ask the waiter for a to go platter to take the pizza home he ignored me and I asked the other waitress. Overall i was disappointed with the service and finding hair in my daughter's plate. We made a reservation two hours before and we're seated right away There is a sizable cocktail menu as well as wine menu. The spaghetti fra diavlo was very tasty and a large serving. We loved the pizza served with prosciutto and figs. I can't remember the name of it. Additionally, we ordered the ceviche, which honestly was just OK. The shrimp tasted as if it was boiled and not left in the lemon juice as other types of ceviche. They seem to have a rotating dessert menu. So I read the reviews here were mixed and that should have told me to stay away but I like to give local placs a chance. However it was a mistake...I took my mom to brunch here on a sunday we tried 3 things, the gnochi truffle, eggplant parm, and the pizza, the one dish that was alright was the truffle gnochi but it was a small portion and a few shavings of truffle for $30 is a joke, overral everything is pretty bland anything that you can make at home or frozen...The food literally came out in between 1-2 minutes so what does that tell you, nothing was made fresh, probably reheated in the microwave...I would say this is is a little better than Olive Garden, givening them an extra star because the outdoor area was nice to sit on a nice day. read more

We tried a few things off the menu including a pizza, burrata, their house special fettuccine, and salmon. It's a bit sad that the best thing we tried was the pizza, which was actually not bad. However, everything else that we ordered was really not very memorable. I was excited to try their house fettuccine which they prepare table side and top with fresh truffle. The table side preparation was fun, but the sauce was too rich and the truffle was lost in the dish. Was honestly disappointed. The servers could have been more attentive, especially since the restaurant wasn't even that full. One last comment is that the restaurant was very hot, even with the AC on. Came on a Wednesday during happy hour and was easily able to get a seat. The place is massive with both indoor and outdoor seating. Me and my boyfriend opted to sit at the bar. We don't get any food but got a few drinks during their HH. the Frate Scalzo is definitely on the lighter side and would highly recommended for any wine lovers. I really enjoyed the Osteria Brooklyn and would recommend anyone to end their nice with this sweet, but refreshing drink (if you're a fan of figs). I do agree with other reviews saying the service is a bit slow but that's because there was only one bartender making all the drinks. While I was waiting to order a second round, the bartender behind the bar was continuously making drinks nonstop before she was freed up to take our order. Since opening in LIC, Osteria Brooklyn has always been busy, and with its prime location along the water and happy hour deals, it's easy to see why especially as the weather gets warmer. Given it just opened, there are some kinks that seem like they still need to smooth out. We came for happy hour for which we were seated at the bar, but wanted to move to a table for dinner. We were told we could just simply move, but it seemed like the waiters didn't really get the message so we were waiting to be served for quite a bit. We ordered the fried oysters to start which were quite tasty, but the oysters were a bit lacking (might've been only 5 or 6 pieces) and the rest were zucchini. We also ordered a Caprese salad which never showed. For entrees we got a carbonara pizza and the seafood risotto- carbonara pizza was good but nothing super special but the risotto was delicious and came with a good portion of mussels, shrimp, and clams. Highly recommend getting that one! We also got dessert, and they came out with a platter of fake desserts as a menu, quite a unique and fun touch! The tiramisu was so good! Overall, food was delicious, good happy hour, prime location, just needs a little extra oomph on the service! All the staff were super nice, but could use a bit more organization. read more

I am a tough crowd when it comes to vongole. Pasta in general. Sauce just doesn't taste the same when it's not infused with literal sweat from the brow of a chef committed to nourishing the patient, and some flavor is lost when no teeth incise any component of a dish to ensure the level of al-denteness. As warm and enthusiastic as the staff of Osteria Brooklyn seemed on this post Memorial Day Friday afternoon were,  I doubt they would have gambled with the possibility of NYC Board of Health and Hygiene Gestapo barging in and the subsequent wrath of a boss who would have had to bear the hefty fine...even if in reality that is what it takes to reach the pinnacle of authenticity. But one has to wonder as they came pretty damn close. The Fritto Misto appetizer, with a light dusting of batter that allowed the flavor and texture of the squid and veggies to shine through, was a lovely compliment. Nice wine selection. Attentive service. And the backdrop of the NYC skyline just across the East River? Always a pleaser for out-of-town guests. But pointing to the item on the menu solved that problem. Now, an unexpected problem arose. Near the end of our meal the kitchen had to be temporarily closed due to an inspection of some sort. We used to frequent the restaurant that was here before, and we absolutely loved it. So when Osteria Brooklyn opened in the same location with a similar menu, we figured we'd enjoy this place too. At first, we did -- but after about our sixth visit, I can now say, wholeheartedly, I am tired of the inconsistency. Nothing ever tastes the same twice. For example, the meatballs usually come with melted cheese, and we typically get three large ones. Last time, though, we were served four small ones with cheese that seemed to have corn mixed in -- not the same rich, cheesy experience we were used to. My husband ordered margaritas, and both tasted completely different. I always go for the white sangria, which was usually consistent, but this time it had pineapple juice -- something I didn't notice until I got home and felt sick. I have a sensitivity to pineapple, and since I trusted the drink would be the same as usual, I didn't think to ask. At this point, I don't think I'll be returning. Today really pushed me over the edge. Aside from the constant changes in food and drinks, the staff turnover is noticeable -- and frankly, that's always a red flag for me. The layout is another issue. The entrance is a choke point where the kitchen, front door, and bar all converge. I was walking through with my toddler and a waiter actually said, "Excuse me" -- like I was in the way. And then there was the group of six that came in and the server tried seating them at a table for four. It was almost laughable, but really just disappointing. We've had good moments here, but I truly miss the old restaurant. We were loyal customers at Piatto, and we tried to give this place a fair chance -- many chances, actually. But despite the familiar menu, the way this place runs feels chaotic and unstructured. Life is stressful enough -- dining out should be a break, not another source of stress. read more

Stopped in for dinner in LIC - primarily because we were looking for good brick oven pizza, and are we glad we came! The fried burrata was the best appetizer I've ever eaten - the pesto and marinara combination was incredible and the cheese was cooked to perfection. The pizza was delicious as well, with a bit of a chewier crust than expected, but still amazing. The pesto gnocchi in a pizza crust bread bowl was also amazing. Service was great, and the vibes were too - located right by the park and water. Will definitely be back to try one of the cheese wheel pastas! read more

Cute place by the water. The food was good and the waiter paid attention to us. The drinks are pricey but interesting. Mine could have been made with more alcohol for the price I paid. The main course could've been bigger. The bread and sauce you get at the beginning tastes amazing.Our appetizer was enough for 2 people no more than that. We asked to have the pasta dishes made in front of us with the cheese wheel and they weren't they were given in a plate. The inside was nicely decorated and the bathroom was clean. Hubby and I finally got around to try Osteria LIC recently. Nice ambience with a great view of Manhattan. Simple decor and bright inside, they also have outdoor seatings. Good service and food were okay. I had the Sardinian Cavatelli Pasta with Sausage, it was tasty but found it too salty. My hubby's Bolognese Lasagna was not bad. We do want to go back and try their wood oven pizza. read more

I went to Osteria Brooklyn in LIC a few weeks ago with a friend and my infant son. This restaurant took the spot of another Italian restaurant that I had actually never had the chance to try. The restaurant decor is a bit lacking, and it doesn't really fit the vibe of the menu. The service was good, no major issues. They have high chairs. I tried the Bucatini Cacio e Pepe and the Linguine alle Vongole. Both were pretty good pastas, rich with decent sized portions. I also had an Aperol Spritz, which was good. Overall, I had a good experience at Osteria Brooklyn and would like to come back and try it again! read more

Went to this place with my girlfriend and two of her friends to celebrate one of their birthdays, and I gotta say, the place was honestly such a calm setting, as I love hipster styled restaurants and fashion, and the staff and bartenders were super friendly to us. The drinks and complimentary bread were great, and the environment was just so soothing, with the city view I can look at while sitting up in the bar, so overall, I would definitely come back here soon. read more
