Just unpacked some of my things and it wAs packed HORRIBLY. I'm so upset. Things are broken. Paintings are scarred. Furniture is knicked. I'm getting random peoples things put in my house. This is pure chaos and hell moving across the country is hard enough. This is ridiculous an update. Over $20,000 worth of lost or broken belongings and getting basically nothing. I used 495 Movers for an interstate move last year - this was my fourth time using professional movers for interstate, and this was easily the most painful experience. The sales process went very smoothly. Monty was friendly and good at following up on various details and discounted the price when I asked him to. The pickup went okay, considering there was a power outage that day. The problems occurred when I received my items on the back end. 495 Movers used agent called Mashav Relocation to deliver my belongings to the final destination. One or both of these companies was very rough with my belongings. Multiple items were heavily scratched, dented or broken. There were also some fragile items that they were responsible for packing that weren't even padded, just thrown in a box. Fortunately, they weren't damaged. These movers were either neglectful or very poorly trained. Monty was not very understanding, raising his voice at me on the phone, and telling me that I should expect some damage in any move. Yes, items are liable to get a few scratches in a long move, but I never had this level of damage in my three previous interstate moves. In the end, I filed a claim for the damage and was very partially covered by the minimum covered by law. A word to the wise - 495 Movers may be great for local moves, but the combination of 495 Movers and Mashav Relocation for an interstate move was one I'd never like to repeat. If you are going to use them, get full insurance coverage. read more

We decided to use 495 movers based on several recommendations from Friends. We were very pleased with the service and the hard work of the team. The team was helping us move from a 1BR to a 3BR apartment and had a stop at a storage facility on the way to the new apartment. The team was very attentive to detail, very careful with all our belongings, and explained to us the best way to move things. They were very coordinated between themselves and this made the move go quickly. We also had an issue with the loading dock at our old building, but the team was patient as we worked through it with our building management and tried to make up for the lost time during the move time itself. We would definitely recommend 495 and use them again! read more

Great moving company! From the estimate and reservation to the actual move, these guys were great! Moti, the owner, was the one who took my reservation and when I called back with questions he was quick to get back in touch with me. On moving day, he called ahead to give me a heads up about his estimated time to my place and was there on time. My move took 4 hrs from start to finish. My furniture and art pieces where treated gently, wrapped and protected. No extra cost for extra packaging materials. After many moves and many nightmarish experiences with moving companies, I'm so glad I found one that delivered great service! read more

I had to move from an apartment to a house a couple miles away (MD to DC). My grandma was sick, and needed some extra help to be able to stay in her home. I used 495Movers to help me move my stuff. They were very courteous, and gave me a flat rate so I knew how much it was going to be up front plus all packing material is free. The movers that came were very gentle with my stuff, and everything arrived at my grandma's quickly, and unbroken. Overall I am very happy with my experience with 495movers and I would go to them again the next time I need to move. I highly recommend! read more

I have moved a few times. Some ended up really nasty (see my recent review of AK Movers - the owner screams over you if you question him). 495 was actually quite good - in fact, for a first time move, they are exceptional - they give all packing material for free (boxes, tapes etc), as soon as you sign up - go to their warehouse and load up. That is huge!! The guys are courteous and professional. They broke one item but they paid $100 for it (sadly, liability with all movers is low unless you separately buy insurance, plus it didn't break immediately, just had cracks in the glass which broke thereafter within a day, but there were no disputes or questions). My only reason for switching to AK Movers was because we had saved our packing boxes from the first move, so the 495 free material advantage didn't linger, and AK gave a better overall price (but with really bad attitude - if you have really thick skin, or have a simple move, then AK could work but if you want service and accountability, I would any day recommend 495). read more

Thank you 495 Movers for the amazing job you did for us! We were so stressed out trying to move with hectic work schedules and a baby, so packing ourselves was going to be impossible. Jacob was very easy to work with and provided packing materials before our move so we could get started and on moving day they packed what we couldn't. We cant say enough about the movers themselves. They worked so quickly and efficiently!! Our belongings were packed with such care, not a single thing was damaged or missing. These men were totally professional, honest and hard working. They worked at lightning speed and completed the job in the quoted time estimate. We also appreciated that they laid down blankets over the carpets in the new home so as to not soil them during the move. We thought it was pricey at first, but after we saw hard they worked we realized that it was a tremendous value for taking the stress out of moving day. 495 Movers made my move a pleasant experience! First off the owner of the company scheduled an appointment and was on time to provide me with a free in home estimate. He was thorough, polite, and provided useful tips to cut down on the move time. Before he left he emailed me a copy of the estimate from his iPad which included a not to exceed amount and listed all the supplies that were included in the estimate. One day prior to the move I received a call to confirm my move along with a estimated time of arrival. My window was from 8 to 10 and the movers arrived at 8:30! I have a family of 4 and we moved from a 2 bedroom townhouse to a 3 bedroom townhouse. At a glance this job doesn't seem tough but it was and these guys worked SO hard! It was a team of 3 and they were friendly, polite, professional and most importantly handled my belongings with care! When we move again I am definitely going to use 495 Movers. P.S. My coordinator Josh was polite, efficient (called me on a Sunday to confirm a Monday 8:30 AM move), and helpful, and the crew was absolutely fantastic - the were incredibly efficient, also very careful, wrapping things I probably wouldn't taken the time to wrap, and did their job professionally from start to finish. They were also great guys, good sense of humor, helpful, and responsive - there were three of them, I wish I could remember all of their names (one was Santos), but they were just tremendous. I will never try to make a major move without 495 movers, and if you're moving, you can't find a better company to make your move as smooth and painless as possible. read more

Had an easy move to our new house thanks for 495 movers. They moved us out, stored our furniture/boxes for several months, and moved us in seamlessly. Everyone on the team was extremely polite and professional. When I needed some extra boxes (which were all provided by 495 movers) I pulled up to their building, they asked me to open my trunk and just loaded up everything I needed for me. I was worried about our sofas and mattresses coming back with mold or odor and everything came back just fine. I would highly recommend them. read more

we used the company to move my father's office a few weeks ago. The owner of the company came with 2 other people. The actual move was pretty good but I had two major issues. The owner (who stood right next to my 70 year father) did not wear a mask or offer to wear a mask the whole time even though it was obvious that we felt uncomfortable with this. I didn't need him to wear a mask to move boxes but it would have been nice for him to wear a mask when standing next to my father for 10 minutes at a time. In addition, he tried to charge us for 8 hours of work even though the move was only 5 hours. I truly believe he thought my father wouldn't notice. After my dad confronted him about the discrepancy, he first tried to say they worked for 8 hours. When we told him that wasn't the case (it's really not hard to prove this...) he stated that the company charges for travel fees. I pretty sure this isn't the case. Bottom line, no matter how good the actual moving portion is, I am troubled by the fact that the owner showed no regard for my father's health and also tried to overcharge him (probably because they thought he wouldn't notice). Will not work this company again. read more

Nate was our initial contact who gave us the best deal and Tom was the foreman who did exceptionally well with his team to pack and move our stuffs. We have recently moved from the Washington area to Las Vegas. We chose 495 Movers because the owner, Moti, and his assistants, John, were quite persuasive. This in spite of their being expensive. The loading went well, the crew were experienced. The glass packer did a good and quick job of wrapping a glass coffee table and other items. We had packed all the china, books, clothes, etc. ourselves, but they took care of the furniture. Where things didn't go well is at delivery. We are talking of the contents of a 3200 sq ft house, with a largish amount of books. There were only 2 men moving all that. They were nice, but didn't seem very efficient or practiced. They started around 4:30 pm. After a couple of hours, the driver went off to make another delivery, because he didn't want to spend the night in this city! Anyway, it was finished after 11pm for us, though some items still needed to be taken to the house of a family member. This was poorly organized. When they arrived late, they should have done that other client's delivery first, then come to our place the next morning. And a larger crew would have made more sense. It turned out 495 had under-estimated the volume of our belongings, so we had to pay a supplement. I also strongly object to the fact the loader marked EVERY ITEM of furniture as "scratched", though most were in excellent condition. And they did gouge the top of a dresser. This is a dishonest way of pre-empting complaints. In our opinion, they are probably fine for local Washington area moves. Beware in the case of cross country. read more

My family of 4 adults relocated from 2 different homes and two storage units in Maryland to one new apartment and one new storage unit in North Carolina. We had never had a need to use a moving company before, so I did my research. 495 came out on top and we went with them. I am so glad we did!!! We had prepacked the things we could, but had two entertainment systems and to computer systems as well as much furniture that we had them pack for the move. They showed up on time packed everything with great care. When I had any questions or concerns they addressed them thoughtfully and quickly; most of the time it was something they had a plan for handling. They called me when they were about an hour out from our new location and then again a 15 minutes. Again very considerate so we were ready for them when they got here. Very polite, and considerate from start to finish. "The Icing on the cake", They didn't charge us a penny over what they had quoted. I wrote them the final check at our new home and that was that. BEWARE! They rip you off on moving supplies, in terms of tape and boxes. They say they reimburse any damages but its only a minor amount. Read the contract. You pay for 3 people, but the manager is always on his phone. His two exchange students are overworked and severly underpaid. If you use their service, do not buy their supplied, buy your own. If you do buy theirs, take it with you, as they will try to take it back and re sale it to some other unfortunate customer. Do not tip them, they are expensive, but I did tip the two young workers, not the manager - did I mention he is a joke? to sum up, they suck. read more

We all know moving sucks. But our movers we're great! there was three, they showed up, got straight to work, hustled every second of the day, and we're so helpful with unloading. even when our apt complex was being difficult, and required them to use a tiny elevator and go out the back instead of the front of our building, they didn't complain...they just worked hard to try to minimize the extra time that it would require. when we got to our new place, they unloaded everything quickly, and made sure all the furniture pieces were where we wanted them. They went as far as to help help re-build the pieces we had to take apart to move. Really couldn't have asked for better more efficient movers. I would use them again, would recommend them to everyone! read more

This company did an excellent job at meeting my needs. I actually scheduled my move over a month ago..my closing date was extended at least three times and each time 495Movers assured me they could accommodate me and to just call them a soon as I knew my move date. I called them 48hrs before closing and they confirmed and showed up to move me on the scheduled day. Movers worked nonstop. The took very care of my furniture and I was very impressed with the way they wrapped the furniture. Once we were at my new address they actually unloaded and reassembled in a short amount of time. The lead was very friendly and helpful. The one thing about this experience that I would want others to know is that most movers charge extra for packing materials...be sure to understand what requires packing materials. The average person would not know that they "have" to shrink wrap your sofa, mattress and other pieces of furniture. I was able to get that information before hand and this knowledge kept me from being surprised by the extra frees for packing materials. All in all I was very pleased with the service and would recommend 495Movers to others in hopes that they would be provided the same service I received. read more

Beyond the losses and extensive damage to my things caused by 495 Movers unprofessional handling of my move, along with numerous fabrications and manipulations of facts when I complained about them to the Better Business Bureau, 495 hooked me up with an insurance company, Moveinsure, and through them W.K. Webster. Despite being given pictures, taken on the day of the arrival of the truck, showing actual damage to my things, with those things still in boxes, the insurance company refused to pay out claims on anything. So be warned: the bum moving company recommended a shoddy insurance company that in this case made up excuses not to pay a claim, despite real, hard photographic evidence. read more

Had them move us a few miles last year in Alexandria. Their sales pitch was " we are experts, we quote it right and deliver. ". Not what we experienced. They did the walk through and then showed up with a small truck. Needless to say we ended up having to make multiple trips and bring in another crew. And they ended up raising the price in the middle of it. We ended up negotiating but I felt like exactly what they said wouldn't happen, happened. read more

I requested an online estimate from them. It was $640 for a 1 bedroom apartment move from Bethesda to Rockville on a weekday. MUCH higher than anything else in the area. I saw the email, along with the other email quotes from other companies that I had requested, and knew I wasn't going with them. And then the phone calls started. In two days, they called four times. I hadn't been at the phone the first three times, but after the third call and voice mail I sent them an email asking them to please stop with their harassing phone calls. Later on that day, I got another phone call and she told me that she was just doing her job because I had requested an online quote. I didn't want to just hang up on her, but she kept insisting that calling me persistently was completely ok. After I told her that I was going to leave a Yelp review detailing her phone behavior, warning people not to leave their phone numbers when requesting a quote, she became very nice and apologized for any inconvenience, and followed up with an email again apologizing. So, basically, they're expensive, and once they get your phone number, they harass you until you mention yelp. read more

I have moved 5 times in 18 years. I have plenty of experience with movers. 495 Movers is the most UNPROFESSIONAL Company I have ever used. Not only did they break and not replace Marble tops to antique tables . Many expensive items such as Waterford went missing. Their Insurance is a scam. Sleazist business I have EVER dealt with in Maryland. Don't not BUY their "We are Israeli business!" They are a Disgrace to Israel! Save Yourself a BIG headache, USE TOWN and Country movers. The move went fairly well. However, the manager, Jacob Kuhn, spoke on and on at the beginning how they would call to confirm our move, would call in the middle of the day and would call at the end of the day. Jacob called me the day of the move to confirm for the incorrect date. Fortunately, his crew had it straight & were on their way. Jacob never called after the fact and never responded to a complaint my husband and I had. The movers worked quickly and efficiently. My only complaint is that I requested several wardrobe boxes. They did not bring the correct amount. I also expressed that I wanted to pack our clothes. Before I knew it, they packed everything, which wasn't an issue until I opened the boxes. I found my expensive gowns & dressed stuffed into a medium sized box. I found my work suit folded into a wardrobe box (the rack on which they could hang was missing). None of my hanging clothes were hanging in a wardrobe box. Ironically, another wardrobe box was filled with garden tools & a bike rack. The foreman (Tom) told my husband they didn't have enough boxes. Then he said they didn't have time to ask us questions about our preferences when they found they didn't have enough boxes. Then he looked at the clothes & said there wasn't a difference between hanging them & just putting them into a box. When I explained I would have to spend a substantial amount of money to have each item steamed at the dry cleaner's, he questioned why that would happen & only said the boxes were clean. There was never an acknowledgment about poor judgment, and never an apology. Even one of Tom's assistants shook his head when he said how those clothes were packed. I made a complaint to the manager, Jacob, but received no acknowledgment, to date. While the movers worked quickly and none of our items were broken or missing, we expected more professionalism, especially since Jacob bragged about their operation. I have reservations about recommending them. read more

The ABSOLUTE WORST experience with this moving company! First, I received a quote from Eugene (HIGHLY OVERPRICED compared to other moving companies who have done a far better job), and he stated both over the phone and in writing via email that I could divide the payment in half because I had two moves. The first half would be due after the first move and the second half due after the second move. NOT SO. HE LIED. The ENTIRE amount was charged to me after the first move because he stated that I had more stuff to move than what I originally stated when receiving the quote. Again, NOT TRUE. What he intentionally left out was that each furniture piece that could be broken down into a smaller piece would actually be broken down and individually wrapped. VERY TIME CONSUMING AND FORCIBLY RUNNING UP THE CLOCK, TAKING LONGER THAN IT SHOULD HAVE. So, clearly, that would make it seem like I had more than I originally stated because each piece of furniture that was broken down took additional time to actually break down, individually wrap, and load on the truck. When we got to the storage unit, the movers unloaded my items for storage at the. I was told that that particular location was where I could pick up my items from storage when need be. ANOTHER LIE. On the day when I came to pick up my items at the original location, I was told that my items had been moved to another location WITHOUT MY CONSENT OR KNOWLEDGE. The AUDACITY! How dare this moving company move my stuff without informing me at the very least. This resulted in MISSING ITEMS that I have yet to recover! When going through the checklist to account for items retrieved from storage, one of the movers and I noticed that two items were unaccounted for. I asked him where my two items were, and he could not tell me. He proceeded to speak to one of the movers in Spanish and then proceeded to check off the items on the checklist, AS IF I had retrieved them from storage. When I confronted the mover as to why he was checking off items that were still missing, he stated that the mover he was speaking to told him that he saw the items go on the truck. ANOTHER LIE! IF THEY WERE ALREADY ON THE TRUCK, THEY WOULD HAVE ALREADY BEEN MARKED OFF ON THE CHECKLIST! UNBELIEVABLE!!! Not to mention that during this entire process, the Supervisor of the 495 movers was there arguing back and forth with me about the new movers that I hired, and the fact that they (495 movers) lost two of my items. I asked to speak to his Supervisor (yes, the Supervisor's Supervisor) and he refused. I have emailed SEVERAL times, requesting to speak to the CEO/owner of the company, and to this very day, I have not heard back. I will NEVER put my items into the hands of this company again, and I strongly discourage anyone else from using their services. read more

I've used this moving company twice in the past 12 months. Each time was with a different crew, but both crews had the same high level of customer service and professionalism. They work to get the job done in a timely manner, and both times the final cost was EXACTLY what I was quoted....which is not what I've experienced with other moving companies. First the good: The person I spoke with, Kristina, was knowledgeable, courteous, and generally excellent to deal with. She explained the pricing and how the one flat rate ($145/hr) was all inclusive. The final cost was very accurate. Now for the not so good: I had a sofa that is quite bulky, and I gave specific instructions on how to move it out of the house without taking off the front door (I had done it before). For whatever reason, the movers did not or could not follow what I was saying, likely due to a significant language barrier. The result was two large gauges in my front door. When asked to remedy this situation I was told I was out of luck, since the movers had wanted to remove the door but I did not want them to. Their request to remove my door was something else that got lost in translation. I moved from Arlington to Reston, which involves driving on the toll road. The movers did not have an EZ Pass in their truck, so we waited for 15 minutes at the toll booth. Not a big deal but I thought professional movers would have an EZ Pass in order to save time. If the door incident had not happened, or if 495 had been a little more understanding, I would have given them four stars. As it is, I'll find someone else to move me next time. read more
