    Truffle Burger

Oh. My. Burger. 5 Napkin Burger doesn't just serve burgers. It obsesses over them, and you can tell. The menu strikes a nice balance between classic burgers and more creative combinations, but everything starts with quality ingredients and solid execution. Nothing feels overcomplicated for the sake of being different. My go-to is the Truffle Burger, and it has yet to disappoint. Rich, juicy, perfectly cooked, and just indulgent enough without going overboard. It's the kind of burger that reminds you why this place has built such a loyal following. And then there are the milkshakes. Don't skip them. I order the S'mores Milkshake every single time I come here. At this point it's less of a recommendation and more of a tradition. Rich, creamy, and exactly what a dessert milkshake should be. The atmosphere lands somewhere between a neighborhood diner and a modern bistro. Casual, comfortable, and stylish without trying too hard. You can show up in jeans after a day walking the city and feel completely at home. Service was excellent. Friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu without sounding rehearsed. Overall, 5 Napkin Burger is proof that burgers don't have to be complicated to be memorable. Great ingredients, great execution, and one of my favorite milkshakes in New York. Just make sure you leave room for dessert.

4 stars for late HH We had a really late show so a late HH would've been great. Luckily I found this online. I've only been to 5 napkin burger once maybe 10 yrs ago at a different location. Almost 10pm, our first and only meal of the day. A good amount of diners were inside. We ordered the onion rings tower, garlic parm chicken wings, spinach artichoke dip, cheese curds, hh burger, 2 frozen margaritas... and a black and white shake. I had a taste of each dish/drink but I mainly ate the spinach dip with chips, onion rings and 2 wings. The onion rings were good, not greasy or soggy. The chicken wings were very flavorful, lil too much .. fatty, but in a good way. The spinach dip was my favorite out of all the HH selection ... the cheese curds were a bit disappointing, skip them. Since I knew we were going to order a good amount of appetizers, we didn't need a regular burger and the hh burger would be good enough. It's like a small smash cheeseburger. Almost similar to five Guys...Pickles were fresh. The burger was enough for us since I just wanted 2 bites. It was pretty good for a $7 burger. Frozen margarita was ok but for $8 ...pretty decent. Seriously it was like the cheapest restaurant meal we've had in .. years esp since we ordered 2 alcoholic drinks. So insane.. Our waitress took our order and then we never saw her again but the guys who were waiting at everyone's tables were great. Asked us how everything was. Great service. Refilled our waters. Got L's drink fast.

This actually wasn't the place we were going to go for dinner. We are going to a restaurant across the street that was also a bar but walking by. It was just too loud for us to enjoy dinner so we settled on five napkin burger and it was well worth it. Drinks were excellent service was wonderful quick attentive. And the burgers were excellent as well cooked as requested great size.

Grabbed a solo lunch midweek here and although I didn't try a burger, I had a delicious meal otherwise. The room felt like a lowkey diner, nothing crazy going on with decor. I got a Greens & Grains bowl and added chicken, which was really good! Had great flavor and the chicken was cooked perfectly. My server was nice, but halfway through the meal there was a shift change. My new server said hello but then I never saw her for the remainder of my time there. Waited a while for the check and had to eventually ask someone else to get it for me. Overall, I'd love to come back another time to try a burger! Thank you!

Five Napkin Burger is a place that's everything you love about a typical diner, but made even better. They specialize in burgers, of course, but also have a good selection of brunch options, as well as salads and other sides. The restaurant today was decked out in holiday decorations, which was adorable! The restaurant gets really crowded, but surprisingly, it also wasn't too outrageously loud- we were still able to converse with each other at a regular volume. To start off, each table is given a small bowl of complimentary pickle slices, which I completely devoured. Soon after everyone in our party arrived, we were greeted promptly by our waiter, who was very sweet. He immediately brought water, and was very good about refills when we were running low. For my main, I got their veggie burger, which is a homemade patty with, as they describe on the menu, too many ingredients to count. I liked how it came on a multigrain bun for some extra nutrition. The patty has a slight red tone to it from the beets that are added. You could tell it was fully packed with veggies, which I loved. The sauce and the cheese just added to its deliciousness! I also ordered a side of fries- for first timers, be aware that fries cost extra here- but the waiter will ask if you want fries or any other side. Finally, for dessert, the four of us at my table shared a slice of the apple pie, in honor of my grandma's birthday. It came out warm and comforting, with a side of vanilla ice cream to make it even better. Overall, this was a great experience, and equally great food! Truly a perfect spot for a meal before or after a Broadway show, as it's so close to the heart of the theater district. Would definitely recommend!

Have been here a few times, so the photos are a bit all over the place lol The staff is super friendly and accommodating. I typically walk in and get seated without too long of a wait. The ambiance is casual and a good place for families or friends. Towards the back, there is a bar if you are only looking for a drink. The food here is amazing! Introduced this place to a handful of people and all have said the same. I've tried everything from their burgers to shrimp tacos to boozy shakes. Highly recommend the salmon teriyaki bowl, it's so delicious! Also the sweet potato fries with their signature 5 Napkin sauce.

I am beginning writing this review absolutely stuffed and I am now finishing it weeks later remembering how great this burger was. We wanted something easy to grab for brunch/lunch before going to a show after. I ended up going with the patty melt because they said it was smaller than the normal burgers. My mom and I also shared a small fry and they were krinkle cut fries that were perfectly crispy they were perfection! It was definitely a busy spot so I am glad we made a reservation but the service was quick which is exactly what we needed.

Don't make a mistake. I did for years walk by this place thinking it was a burger joy it's so much more! The menu is fast and absolutely delicious service is impeccable if I had the fiveN salad and of course I had to put a burger on top! All ingredients were so fresh and delicious. The burger just melted my mouth. My only regret is I didn't get a bigger one.

the Parmesan truffle fries were the best part about the meal (fair warning they were $12) The bacon cheddar burger ($18) wasn't that great-- while the meat patty was huge and lasted me another meal, it didn't have much flavor. Definitely needed the toppings and maybe another sauce to make up for it. My server was nice and attentive but if someone asked me for a good burger I would not recommend this place

*summer restaurant week* Food was interesting. I couldn't find all of the items on the regular menu, but they were pretty good. Had the Mexican corn, loco moco, and vanilla milkshake. I wish my egg was cooked a bit more through, some of the egg white was under. Outside of that, left very full and satisfied Service was alright. We were seated early, but didn't get any water for a while. It was not busy at the time, early service. They did come around during the meal to ask how things were. Took some time to wave someone down to get the check. Interior was clean and moderately lit. Not bad. Overall, I would come back and try the regular menu for the burgers. There weren't burger options on the summer restaurant week menu

No trip to NYC is complete without a visit to 5 Napkin. The Intercontinental is just up the block, so this is not only one of my favorite spots with lots of memories but it is also super handy for a late night snack.

In the area heading to catch Audra MvDonald in Gypsy. We happen to be blessed with an awesome parking spot, which gave us time to grab some grub. Wanted something pretty quick and simple. So we decided on 5 Napkins. Admittedly I have not been here in years and it was definitely crowded. Nonetheless we took a chance on the waitlist. We were quoted a 25 minute wait but our buzzer went off in 10. We kept it pretty simple. I went with the grilled chicken sandwich and bestie ordered an impossible patty melt. We shared some sweet potato fries, brussel sprouts and we both order "Boozy" cookies n cream shakes (w/ amaretto). The food was tasty, my grilled chicken with bbq sauce and fried pickles was honestly better than expected. The sprouts on the other hand were basic. Not horrible but also wouldn't order again, we honestly have had better. Overall this was a good reminder of what 5 Napkins offers and this a great option for a quick sit down spot to grab food before the theater if you want to keep it simple. Just A Note: They were very busy, expected given it's in the Time Square area, however their turnover for a table was surprisingly quick. Even faster if you don't mind eating on the side walk.

We were thrilled to find two seats at the end of the bar when we arrived. As luck would have it, the two gentlemen next to us eventually left, allowing us to slide over and enjoy an even better view of the TV for the rest of the game. I started with a Tito's and club soda, but unfortunately, something seemed off--perhaps the club soda was flat. The drink just wasn't good. To their credit, the bartender took it back without hesitation and was very accommodating. I then ordered a Negroni after the woman sitting next to us highly recommended it. I don't usually drink gin, but this cocktail was absolutely delicious and changed my mind. Since we were there for several hours, we shared an order of zucchini and eggplant chips and happily snacked on them throughout the game. The atmosphere was comfortable and welcoming, with a nice mix of ages and people enjoying the evening. We made sure to leave our bartender a generous tip since we occupied our seats for the entire game. Even though the Knicks didn't pull out a win that night, we certainly didn't leave defeated. I'd happily return for another game, cocktail, and fun evening out. And maybe even get dinner there. Little did I know there was another big room in the ack once you past the restrooms. Those people spam the crap out of their buttons for the dinner spots and when I went I can see why. The place is brimming with old school New York charm and it's completely overwhelmingly beautiful and has an old jazzy vibe to it. It's large and spacious and they sat us in the middle of the entire restaurant. (I had a group of 6) The vibe was so good you don't really want to leave and they also don't really kick you out. I think we were the last ones to exit for brunch but they were so nice they didn't kick us out. Their espresso martinis are ok. It wasn't as amazing as a regular cocktail bar but it is just ok. We started off with a shrimp cocktail, smoked whitefish Caesar salad and the two plates of truffle monkey bread which was soooo good. I really enjoyed this as it's the main reason we came here. It's almost like a honey dinner roll with truffle. We got everything next which some people got their own and some shared. Some people got their own American breakfast platter which was some overdone eggs and a meat with gigantic toast and if you only order scrambled eggs it comes in a bowl but I would much rather order their classics like steak sandwich and the spicy shrimp was pretty good! Fries are top tier! I can see why people just come here for dinner. I would give it mostly 5 stars for the overall ambiance and environment and a few classics. I think their old fashioned is better than their espresso martinis though even though it looks so good in this type of setting! It's hard to get a reservation though so next time I'll need to try some new things if I score another!

Whoever's behind the bar here has been trained or grew up around it. Food's better than a second-floor pub between 5th and 6th has any right to be. The JRB burger comes on a house-ground patty (they grind in-house, and you can tell, loose texture, actual seasoning), caramelized onions cooked down all the way, not just softened, good cheese pull. Fried pickles on the side had a crisp cornmeal shell and stayed crunchy under the burger juices, which never happens. Buttermilk chicken salad was the surprise. Chicken actually brined, crust stayed on, greens weren't an afterthought. Only real knock: music was loud. Not sports-bar loud, more like the bartender's playlist got away from him. Fine at the bar, harder at a table if you want to talk. Room's got real bones. Reclaimed barn wood, old rail track as a foot rest, that big 45-star flag on the wall. Been here almost 20 years and it's aged into itself. For the neighborhood the pricing's fair. Beats P.J. Clarke's on the burger, loses on quiet. Go for a beer and a burger, not a date.
