Large portions of delicious food. Friendly service and spacious facility. I wanted to try other items, but I was stuffed. The menu is pretty big. You won't be disappointed.

The food's good, and you should eat it. The pancakes in particular are winners. And it's a rare thing these days, but you get actual maple syrup (the bottle's tiny, but it's real). Service is the slacker here. You can't be in a hurry, and you probably also shouldn't expect them to get the details right. We had at least three specialists stopping by...one to grab waters, one to take the order, one to ask about coffee, etc. Thing is, it was like a crazy game of telephone. Messages didn't make it down the line. I ordered the pancakes without whipped cream; I ended up with whipped cream. Coffee refills never happened. Additional syrup was late (and when it arrived, it wasn't the real thing--guess we only get one bottle of the good stuff). It was the morning of the Tony Awards, but there were hardly any people in the dining room at the time. Why so disjointed?

Returned to the brand new Carnegie Diner & Cafe to enjoy breakfast at 5:00 PM. :-) I will always appreciate the large portions, the well lit interior, the clean sitting areas, and the celebrity wall frames that surround everyone. The entrees were: Classic French Toast and, just like my previous visit, I ordered the Californian Omelette (avocado, mushroom, tomato, pepper-jack cheese). The French Toast was large enough to where a to-go bag was requested. However, my Californian Omelette was totally consumed and thoroughly enjoyed. Take note, aside from delicious sit down food, you could also purchase cakes, sweets, and pastries at their counter before exiting the Diner.

I'm not sure why their rating is so low. It has a good location and our breakfast was delicious! We barely gave our order and the food arrived! Cynthia took great care of us too. Come on Yelp family, show this place some love!

I was really blown away with how flavorful the food was. We had a reservation and the service was extremely fast. We already had our food and had ate half of it before the coffee even had a chance to cool down. The powerhouse omelet is better than the symphony breakfast. We'd go back for breakfast or lunch for sure. The menu is huge and servings are great.

I thought this was a revival of the original Carnegie Deli but it is not. This restaurant was VERY busy but we were seated right away. Our server was extremely friendly and our food came out quickly. It was a nice place to visit but I will search for a more authentic NY Deli type of restaurant.

The stellar service and atmosphere almost outweighed the food, but didn't. WOW! A trendy restaurant, in the heart of NYC, not far from Rockefeller Center, Radio City Music Hall & Jimmy Fallen; can be very special indeed. Within my party, the heavenly French Toast was overwhelmingly delicious. Hot off the grill from Paris. My Savory, Delectable AMAZING flavors that was escaping from my charred grilled juicy cheddar cheese burger was OMG; heavenly. Charred to perfection, with the juices oozing from the burger and grilled onions and to the incredible aroma; was the perfect finish.

Had brunch/lunch on a Tuesday. The service was good and the restaurant's ambiance was nice with open airy location. As the menu states "Carnegie Diner and Café is not associated with or endorsed by Carnegie Deli and Carnegie Hall." I ordered the pastrami sandwich which was manageable and came with salad and a small portion of coleslaw and sauerkraut. Sandwich was dry and needed mustard. My former boss ordered the bacon with pancakes. He said beacon was good but pancakes were a bit dry. Not sure I would return here. The coffee was ok.

We stopped in while in town for the holidays. Excellent service, ambiance and food! Highly recommend popping in for a bite if you're in the area.

The place to go for pastrami. First time at Carnegie, but have been wanting to try for ages. Came brunch time on a Sunday. The speed at which we were sat was unfortunately not paralleled in the service, but our server was really nice and once we got our food orders in, our meals came out quickly. A picture is worth 1000 bites if you know what I mean. My Wowstrami was worth every penny and the massive amounts of pastrami on rye was SO good. The pastrami was tender, not too fatty and there was SO much of it. The side salad was quite good and cut through the heavy meat meal. Good pickle and nice slaw. My dining companions had the regular pastrami and the eggstrami, and everyone left full and happy. Coffee was quite good and bottomless for drip, which is always appreciated. Great spot to know in midtown and would recommend!

Went back here today and we all got different meals and had a great experience. The chocolate pancakes are amazing, especially the portion size, both of us weren't even able to finish them all. The service was great and very fast. Overall restaurant ambiance was great. It was busy but not crowded by any means. Will definitely be back in the future.

I'm giving them 5 simply because of the friendly ladies behind the counter. The place gets crowded especially on weekends but these ladies had smiles on their faces and they were very accommodating. Maybe it's all a mask but who cares, dealing with obnoxious tourists can't always be fun. Anyways I had a coffee and their almond croissant and they were simply divine. Were they cheap? No but these croissants were flaky and scrumptious. Would i go to these over priced establishment again, of course. Consider me your obnoxious tourist! Next time I may try to dine inside.

    Carbonara $25

Almost confused this place with the iconic Carnegie Deli when searching for a place to have lunch, but that place in Madison Square closed down in 2016. Anyhow, Carnegie Diner & Cafe offers a brightly lit, high ceiling, open ambiance, which is hard to find in New York City, and though a tourist trap, it was also an appreciated respite from the wind and cold in late December. We ordered the following: Calamari $16 Harder flakes breading, small portion, wouldn't recommend Pastrami Sandwich $24 & Fries $4 Really plain, just bread and pastrami with a side of pickles and cabbage, wouldn't recommend Carbonara $25 Good, but heavy and swimming in cream Kids fried mozzarella sticks (5 count) $10 This was the table favorite Kids buttered spaghetti $11 Big portion Kids Mac and cheese $9 Good, but prepared more like cheese soup with macaroni Our service was kind of a mess because they were so busy, essentially bringing out one or two dishes at a time, and I kid you not, in 10-15min intervals. It made for an awkward meal experience, as we watched that one person eat until the next dish came out. First was the kids mozzarella which we all picked at, then the pastrami with fries and calamari came together, that the rest of the table picked at as well, then the carbonara, 10min later, the buttered pasta, then 10min later the server checked on us and we let her know we didn't receive the kids Mac and cheese, so another 10m later, it was brought out. Our daughter didn't eat it bc she was eating off of the rest of the dishes and everyone was pretty much done eating at this point. Auto 20% tip, which is fine because our server took our order from our seated table, was serving multiple dishes (though scattered), and our drinks were filled twice, which is more service than anything else these days that ask for tip.

I ordered the burger with cheese, and everything about it was perfect. The burger itself was THICK, incredibly juicy, and cooked beautifully. You could immediately tell that the meat was high quality, and knowing that they use Creekstone beef made it even better. The flavor was rich and beefy without being overwhelming, and every bite was incredibly satisfying. The patty had that perfect combination of a beautifully cooked exterior while still being extremely juicy and tender inside. And the bread deserves its own paragraph! The brioche-style bun was excellent. It was soft, slightly buttery, and substantial enough to hold the thick patty without falling apart or becoming soggy. It complemented the burger perfectly rather than taking away from the meat. The combination of the juicy Creekstone beef, melted cheese, and that excellent brioche-style bread was honestly phenomenal. What really stood out to me was how substantial the burger was. This wasn't one of those thin burgers where you finish it and immediately feel like you could eat another one. It was thick, hearty, juicy, and incredibly flavorful. Every bite felt like you were getting exactly what you want from a great burger. The fries were also excellent. I really appreciated that they weren't overly fried or greasy. They had a great texture and were crispy without feeling heavy or excessively oily. Sometimes fries can completely overwhelm a meal because they're so fried, but these were much more balanced and paired perfectly with the burger. Overall, Friedman absolutely exceeded my expectations. The burger, especially with the cheese, was outstanding, the Creekstone beef was incredibly flavorful, the brioche-style bun was excellent, and the fries were the perfect accompaniment. If you're in NYC and love burgers, this is a must-go-to. I would absolutely order this burger again and would highly recommend Friedman to anyone looking for a thick, juicy, high-quality burger. Anyway, their happy hour is solid enough for a Monday and was meeting up with a friend I hadn't seen in over a year. Place is actually very cute. But it was a Monday and I didn't exactly feel like powering down into happy hour so Aperol Spritz it was which switched to a Modelo later. It was the perfect drink situation on a god awful hot as hell day. We also ordered the fish tacos and what initially were the curry fries but they brought out the Greek fries. I wasn't mad about it. Honestly was torn between the two and I don't send food back unless something really bad happened. But it was essentially a side of Caesar salad dressing with feta cheese and generous amount of herbs on a very sparse and frugal amount of crispy standard cut fries. Now I know why it's a 2 for $20 deal. The tacos were 3 in an order which I guess is typical. They weren't bad but nothing stood out to me. I'd come for the drinks or try something else on the menu.

My wife ordered the half corned beef sandwich with a bowl of French onion soup, so we got to sample a bite of each of those as well. Surprisingly we finished everything and still had room for a home made strawberry cheesecake which was amazing. If I'm being honest, I liked it better than juniors and you can read more of my review of Junior's cheesecakes on their Yelp page. Sarge's was a New York mile long walk in the drizzling rain, but it was worth it and the walk back was just as good and it allowed me to work off all the carbs.
