Was looking for a nice spot for breakfast while in Seattle. There isn't as many I could find around but this spot was the it to go. First, the service here is very friendly and accommodating. After its closure during Covid I was so excited to see that the 5 Spot had reopened! I thought it was gone for good. While I was disappointed they no longer have their famous salmon scramble on the menu (it was so delicious I had to go home and recreate it and do so frequently) I was pleasantly surprised by the lobster Benedict! Absolutely my favorite brunch spot in Queen Anne! Had the Sonoran Scramble with a mimosa. Couldn't resist adding a cinnamon roll on and so glad I did, it came out absolutely perfect and not overly sweet. The scramble was great and the potatoes with it were cooked to perfection. 5 Stars for 5 Spot!! This has always been one of our favorites on Queen Anne Hill! The food has remained great even through a change of ownership transition! I have to say the employees are so friendly and sweet. One employee in particular has made our visit priceless every time we go there! Delmer greets us at the door, helps us decide if we're not quite sure what we want, makes sure we love what we ordered and is also a bartender! We always love the drinks Delmer makes! He is such an amazing ambassador for 5 Spot. We love to go there and see his amazing smile! Wil is also so friendly, nice and helpful. He has been our waiter in the past and we really like him too. SO HAPPY THEY ARE BACK OPEN!!! I was so sad when they closed over Covid, and was listed on google as "permanently closed"... So happy they were able to revive the place and reopen! I stopped in for some takeout and there was a huge waitlist, about 20-30 mins with people waiting outside. They set up a complimentary coffee station for everyone waiting, which was so nice!! Always worth the wait, this place is one of my favorites for brunch. We ordered Chicken Fried Steak with Hash Browns and a Biscuit, and the Eggs Benedict on a Biscuit with Spicy Potatoes. Definitely recommend if you've never had eggs benny on a biscuit - it's absolutely amazing!! Will be back for lunch or dinner menu as well. read more

EDIT - bumping this review up to 4 stars. It's clear the new mgmt tried to keep a lot of the old 5 spot around and there is definitely a lot that's good, mainly the service! So I don't want to hurt their efforts to resurrect a community spot. Keep it going folks... Great: - same aesthetic as before! Same fun paintings, diner vibe, etc. - service is great. Very polite and attentive. - unlimited coffee is much appreciated :) - also like that the staff are able to process credit cards at the table instead of taking it back like before. Makes the process much faster (but see below) - our little kiddo loved the bite-sized waffles with the cartoon characters! Could be better: - The food is good but has some minor changes. It's totally understandable if it's different from before but needs a little tweaking probably. A nitpick for example: 'goat in the garden' used to have dill or cilantro - now it has tarragon. Not a dealbreaker, but we liked the old one better... - Please give or show itemized receipts when taking payment at the end. It just avoids confusion. Bad: - After 15 years of living in the area, we considered the old 5-spot's huevos rancheros the best in the city. We were careful not to have high expectations with the new place but were still excited to try the huevos rancheros. It was a huge disappointment when we got our dishes to see that the new huevos rancheros was filled with beef which we can't even eat. Not only that, but it wasn't even mentioned on the menu! (see photo). I'm sure a lot of people love the beef but we simply can't eat it. And it couldn't even be removed since it's part of the beans. To the new management - please consider removing the beef from one of our favorite dishes in Seattle or make it optional :) Anyway if you want to leave the beef that's your call obviously but at least call it out on the menu. read more

I'm writing a review because I'm pretty unhappy with what I received from the 5 spot. It's 's been more than 20 years since I've been here and I went to the website and it clearly says that they offer Red Flannel hash, but upon arriving they don't even have it on the menu! Which was very disappointing because I traveled more than 15 miles to visit this restaurant. And then to get my order and have the portions considerably smaller as they used to be. I'm also not to happy with seeing the line Cooks eating while they're cooking. That's completely unacceptable. I will not be back. read more

By far one of the worst restaurants in Seattle, I have no clue how they were voted best breakfast and lunch, I can only assume through violently threatening customers to write positive reviews. The food is meh at best, I'll give them that they have good fries but that's not necessarily a difficult feat. The staff is busy yapping to each other instead of walking the floor and checking on people paying money to eat here. There are multiple dirty tables just sitting and festering around the place. People are waiting at the front to be seated while staff actively ignores them to talk to each other. Last but not least, I watched someone in the kitchen take a used fork, run it under water, and then use it in another pot on the stove, that's absolutely unacceptable cross-contamination. I would rather eat week old McDonald's off a back alley dumpster than come back here again to waste my money. I won't be coming back, I urge others to do the same. read more

Place was very busy for Sunday brunch, and our group of 6 had to wait 30 minutes for a table. Menu is full of very traditional American diner breakfast and lunch items. Pancakes, French toast, sandwiches, burgers, chicken and waffles etc. I ordered the chicken fried steak. It was a big plate with the battered steak with gravy, two eggs, hash browns, and a biscuit. The biscuit with butter and jam was pretty good. No complaints on the hash browns and eggs. As for the fried steak, the beef had good flavor. The fried batter tasted decent as well, but it was on the thicker side and falling off the steak before I even seriously dug into it. Overall tasted decent, and the total portion was very large. Prices are not super cheap but not expensive by Seattle standards. read more

Me and my friend got seated pretty quickly. He ordered the classic breakfeast and I ordered the California Benedict. The food is a solid three star not really crazy , wouldn't go out of my way to come here. Some staffs were very nice so I don't want to say everyone was rude but basically I got ignored a couple times but since they were busy that's understandable. They don't do split pay and when my friend asked about it the employee was just kind of had a sassy remark that made my friend feel uncomfortable. Went here recently solely because of the rave review from Carole M. who I trust on all things food, especially in Seattle. I think I'd echo others' feedback around service -- the place gets PACKED on the weekends, but then again, the line moved very quickly. What that means is the place gets very loud -- hard to hear others, and so may be harder for servers to hear orders. We got the correct orders overall, although had asked for things like no potatoes -- got potatoes. End of the world? No -- just hate wasting food! Also a tip for anyone who is a vegetarian or just doesn't eat pork: The biscuit was either cooked in bacon fat or heated up in it; if you are a bacon eater, this will make the experience a positive one! If you're not, the taste is really strong (at least it was for me), and so I didn't enjoy the biscuits as much. Also took a while for us to get butter and so they were cold by the time we ate them. We swung by on the way to the airport because we'd seen someone get one of their cinnamon buns -- I can't really eat a lot of sweet stuff, so only had a taste, but I will say, I thought it was literally out of this world. I give them one star solely for that cinnamon bun. A tip, though: Do NOT eat one in the rental car you're about to return to the airport... #badidea. Definitely recommend -- just go early, and perhaps try on a weekday for a different, more relaxed experience. read more

I'm sad to say this is no longer the same restaurant as it was prior to the new owners. For history, I've been coming to 5 Spot for over 25 years...and just finished dining in with my fiancée (her first time). Pro's: Same decor, loved the local artwork on the walls Con's: They no longer offer fresh squeezed juice. I ordered a grapefruit juice and ended up sending it back. The Sonoran Scramble (my favorite dish) previously doesn't come with hash browns anymore? I'm confused as to why, considering all of their other egg scrambles on the menu, which are exactly the same price include it. That being said, I got went with the Goat in the garden instead. The goat cheese was sprinkled on top instead of inside? Maybe just a personal preference but I don't remember it being that way before. The biscuits were completely flavorless and tasted like they came from a box and the whipped butter & jam that came with it tasted cheap/mass produced. Our service was slow. The bartender appeared to be make drinks for the restaurant, serving the bar rail AND taking tables in the bar area. That's a lot of guests to serve so not faulting him just think management should staff up more. We sat for a long time trying to pay our bill & even after flagging down a busser to communicate we needed to go. We we entered the restaurant there was no hostess or anyone that greeted us and we sat in the lobby for awhile waiting to be sat. Lastly, someone really needs to wipe down all the condiments and make sure they are full before service. Our ketchup bottle was nearly empty and dried old ketchup was caked all over the top. Firstly, thank you for being open on New Year's Day! Secondly, my bad for missing photos in this review -- I was too excited to eat and forgot to take pictures beforehand! Pros: Perfectly poached eggs on my benedict, tasty cinnamon rolls, delicious seasoning, good coffee, and quick service. Cons: While this may have been due to the holiday and a busy restaurant, the service could be a bit friendlier, as I'd describe it as brief and direct, though not unfriendly, either. Food was yummy. We had pancakes, eggs, bacon, hash browns and a biscuit. All of it was good but the eggs and hash browns would have been great if they were cooked a tad bit longer. Still the hasbrowns had amazing flavor and were golden & crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, just like they should be. Ambiance was great. Loud and noisy and full of laughter and happy vibes. I love a loud breakfast place so you're free to talk and hang out without feeling like you're interrupting the folks next to you. Good strong coffee and awesome service. Wait was minimal. Food came fairly quickly and we were tended to often but not too much interruption. this restaurant was incredible!! the BEST french toast and corned beef i have ever tasted, and it was so so fast and efficient. i think it took us longer to get seated than to get our food! from ordering to eating was only probably ten minutes. we were SO impressed with everything and will definitely be coming back. read more

This place is so incredibly overpriced for a diner. I spend over $50 for an egg scramble, an orange juice, a tea bag, and a $5 cinnamon roll. Not including the tip. Not only that, but the huge cinnamon roll could have been delicious had it of come with frosting on it. Instead it was completely dried out and basically just a huge bread roll with a little Carmel drizzled on top. I threw the whole thing away. A wAste of dough, in my opinion. The service was okay. Our server was incredibly high strung. Might have just been an off day, but you could definitely feel his stress in the restaurant. There are many diners I would suggest over this one. Before Covid, we loved 5 Spot! We used to go there for dinner once a week and some times twice. The food and service were excellent, the bartender was exceptional. Since they reopened post Covid and changed management we've been back twice and not going back. The food is subpar. We sent back a steak that we ordered medium-rare and it was raw in the middle and dripping blood. The second time it was overcooked. Service was slow. At some point we got up from our table because we waited for our server, and neither her or other servers were around on a Friday night when the place was almost empty. It's sad but we will not be going back. read more
