    Bison Burger with Green Chile

We came back and had to stop by 5 Star Burgers for happy hour. Their deals are always great! And the burgers are delicious. They've got lots of beer on draft and is always a nice spot to meet up with folks!

Five Star Burgers should be called 2 star burgers. Brought the family for an early dinner and as soon as we walked inside the air smelled musty so we sat outside. It wasn't much better, the atmosphere wasn't too inviting and outdoor furniture was uncomfortable. We got an old timer burger and one of my kiddos got a grilled cheese with "fruit" we were expecting fresh fruit but the plastic container it came in said fruit. The burger was very bland, no taste and the bun tasted like plastic. The sweet potatoes fries were ok. Service was friendly and ok, it was not busy when we arrived but it still took awhile for our food and to get the bill. I was really expecting something great given the look of the place but we won't be returning.

Visiting the area so we thought we would give this place a try. I had the 5 star burger and thought it was ok. The onion rings were nothing special, I prefer hand breaded onion rings because I think they taste better. This place is pretty pricy, the burgers don't come with fries or onion rings so that's extra. They do have a bar and a fairly big burger selection. The service was great and pretty quick. I would probably give this place another try.

I've always really enjoyed 5 Star Burger, they were one of my go-to take out options during the heaviest parts of lockdown. They did a great job during that period providing amazing burgers and fries. Last night I had dinner on the patio with a friend and honestly it wasn't what I wanted it to be. The service was very friendly and I love their patio but the burger was overcooked and missing a key ingredient. My go-to has been the bacon brie burger but without the tomato marmalade it just isn't the same. It wasn't bad by any means just not the best it could be. I still happily ate it, along with some sweet potato fries that were also overcooked. I really hope last night was just an off night. I always forget the have a great happy hour, definitely need to remember that in the future. They have great cheap mixed drinks and awesome sliders, definitely worth the visit. Also, their patio is pup friendly so running in to cute pups never hurts.

Green chile strips fried a bit darker than usual, per a partner who gets them here on the regular. Dipping sauce was passable good.

GOOD NEWS: - Alistair our waiter was great fun, really energetically dynamically friendly. And extremely good at staying in touch making sure we were doing fine during our mini snack-a-thon devouring fried green chile strips. Top notch service!! - Breaded green chile strips were fried nice 'n crunchy and were tasty. Not as strong on the chile taste as I'd hoped, but it did come into play enough to register. My dining partner, who is a semi regular here for the strips claimed they were fried darker than usual. Mayo & mustardy dipping sauce was a nice complement to the crunchy strips. - So two stars for a couple of good points. BAD NEWS: - *STANK!!!!!!!!* Walking in the front door, we were clubbed with an overwhelming stench that was a mix of what smelled like industrial chemical floor sanitizer, old frying oil, and other unidentified noxious odors. Hyper strong! We're talking "peel your nose right off your face" or perhaps "this retch test is not a test and we hope you have some killer good laundry soap waiting for your clothes at home because you're going to need it" strength. The temptation to turn heel and flee was real, palpable, and seated right about at the solar plexus. Nonetheless we stayed, munched our fried green chile strips, and had a chat. The fact that my nose eventually grew used to the stink makes me suspect my olfactory facilities don't have my best interests at heart. As others have mentioned, interior runs a bit to the dark side. So 5 Star Burgers at Wyoming Blvd and Academy is a solid pass in my world. Just say no.

10/21: 5 stars for well...5 Star (or Five Star) I am not a burger lover but this place captured my attention and taste buds. Neighborhood eatery that was crowded for lunch, but got a table right away. Yes there is patio seating when available. Although the restaurant seemed a tad dark in lighting (maybe because of Halloween, idk...) it was extremely clean, friendly staff and I enjoyed that hormone-free, chemical-free, unfiltered burger. Drink before you eat, right?! Had a cold strawberry mimosa. And, here comes the food part . I ordered the 5 Star Burger that has gorgonzola cheese, applewood smoked bacon and garnish on the side. Yummy thick meat in the mouth for $10.50. Fries or onion rings $2-$4 extra, just letting you know well in advanced. Overall, yes, definitely recommend 5* Burger. Enjoy...

Lunchtime & burgers are in the sights. So here we are. Not too busy, so seating was quick. Drinks and food ordered. The green Chile burger with onion rings and the fish and chips. The burger came out as ordered - add surprised look here! I usually order rare to get med-rare. Well, this was rare. Two lessons here 1. order near the way you want it cook and 2. Some steak places in town need to take note! Needless to say the burger was juicy & delicious. Dressings came on the side so you got as much or little as you wanted. The fish & chips came fried golden brown. The fish was flaky and not over cooked. A nice stop for lunch and definitely on our repeat list. I don't think you'll be dissatisfied here

Build-your-own burger with Gorgonzola cheese and sautéed mushrooms. Onions, tomatoes, lettuce, and pickles automatically come with.
    Konrad J.

This burger joint seems to have a better reputation than actual burgers. They aren't bad, but also aren't exceptional. I had the build-your-own burger option with Gorgonzola cheese and sautéed mushrooms. The build-your-own burgers do not come with sauces or have suggested sauces to add; they come dry. They also do not come with a side; those are sold separately. The service was fine, the burger fine, the atmosphere fine. It was all just... fine. And I'll instantly forget about it.

I've been coming to 5 Star Burgers for the last 10 years. Hands down one of the best burgers in Albuquerque. The service is always consistent. I've never had a bad experience with the staff. The restaurant is clean and has a sports bar type feel with a nice bar area to watch the game. Prices are fair and inexpensive. I dropped by during a busy Friday night and service was excellent. I ordered a Green Chile cheeseburger of course and it was cooked to my preference. The green Chile had good flavor and heat. I love their French fries. I definitely recommend trying their burger of the month. They usually come up with some inventive creations that reminds me of the television show Bob's Burgers.

What happened to the Old Town 5Star?

When we tried to eat there, it was closed up with a liquor notice. Perhaps a new venture coming in?

He walked away as I approached the counter. I was confused as I wasn't aware I had to order on the tablet on the counter. When I began using the tablet I was in search of the new mushroom burger they sent me an email yesterday about. Of course you know it's what I wanted to try. Sadly it wasn't on the menu on the tablet. When I called the employee for help I basically got the vibe he didn't want to be there and he was hesitant to approach. When he did come to the counter I asked about the burger even showed him the email to get told it's not out yet and it was coming soon. I found myself wondering why I even got the email if this was true. Needless to say the food came out really fast. I thought well that's good at least. The presentation was better than the experience. The cheese on the queso fries was pretty skimpy. There were way more fries than cheese which was disappointing. The burger I wasn't a fan of either. It needed more cheese and the stackers sauce tasted strange like it a chipotle sauce it wasn't the same as I recalled. I'm sad to say this is the second location I've had a bad experience with. It's really disappointing because I really loved this place. I guess I'll have to stick to the central food hall because so far that's the only location that hasn't disappointed me like this yet.

I peruse the menu, another customer drops their shake. Gonna be longer. That's fine, go help them. "No, I can take your order REALLY FAST." Well, I was looking at the menu, but cool to be rushed. I remember when the young lady that used to work there was at the counter. 6-8 people in line, greeted with a smile and Hi! Welcome in! There was a longer wait, but it was ok, because the service was good, and so was the food. Today? I'll never return. I spent over $15.00 including a credit card surcharge (a business owner that wants to take credit cards but can't be bothered to be a business owner and pay their bills.) I left a $5 cash tip - I figured I'd the business owner can't pay the 3% on a bad merchant account, they most likely aren't paying the staff livable wages... I sat down and put my gear down, and waited... for about 15 minutes, before this garbage salad that was falsely advertised as having toppings and 3 sliced chick'n strips. The entire salad didn't fill the bowl.? On the bottom were less than a teaspoon of diced tomatoes. In the entire salad there was ONE "fried onion." The lettuce was chopped like slop, there was barely enough chick'n to call it 1.5 slices. Absolute trash. For 15$ I ate my salad, listening as Morticia Addams' understudy pleasantly said good bye, have a nice day, et cetera to the customers who were leaving. I got up, threw my trash, walked out. Silence: The whole time I was in there, a cheap speaker was streaming some crappy 90s "radio friendly hip hop." When my salad was brought to me, even after explaining it's very hard to eat, or carry , a salad on a motorcycle, it arrived in a to-go/carry out, lid is RIGHT THERE,.Morticia helpfully pointed it out, a subtle hint that I wasn't a welcome guest. As I was gearing up to get on my motorcycle out comes our antagonist. Not to be polite or anything. To smoke or vape. I didn't stick around to smell which one she was doing in the doorway. I get it, lucky goose doesn't want my money. They've made it abundantly clear. That's fine. I'll go to Steelbender, where they have vegan options, and like that customers come on to give them money. I accidentally posted this review to the uptown location. I've never been, and will never be, to that location. This review was the knob hill location.

She also seemed very distracted and did not have good recall when we were putting in our orders. She came back several times to ask what our drink orders were before finally bringing over the tablet to enter in the information right in front of us. Secondly, our food took forever to come. This also happened the first time we came to eat at social house a year ago, but it felt more pronounced this time. And the restaurant was not full. Probably a third full of patrons? We were seated at 6:45 and our food did not arrive until 830. Quite the wait if you ask me. Finally, the kitchen was having some sort of smoke issue. If you've never been in an establishment where the grease smell and smoke is visibly accumulating in the air, you know it's quite distracting from a dining experience. It was so smoky inside. I actually caught myself blinking my eyes to see if it was just my vision being blurry or if it was the room. Our food was fine, the pork belly was a standout. Otherwise, I'm not sure I need to come here again. I wish that they would get a better handle on service timing, because that seems to be an ongoing issue.

Speaking of crispy, we opted for the appetizer brussel sprouts, and they were a bit chewy and on the not so super crispy side. Service was fine, and glad to have a little break from heavier New Mexican cuisine on this night. Lots of variety on the cocktail and adult beverage menu too.
