Savoy is an upscale restaurant in Albuquerque. The food is American with a Southwestern touch. The restaurant is beautifully appointed, with elegant decor and excellent service. I ordered a special entree of Short Ribs served with root vegetables and scalloped potatoes. The beef was perfectly prepared and delicious. Unfortunately, the root vegetables were so hard that they were difficult to pierce with a fork. The potatoes were just ok. I was disappointed . Dessert was a Hazelnut layered cake. Very dense in texture, it was difficult to eat more than a few bites. I should note that the house Cabernet was very good. read more

The place is cool and luxurious on the inside. The service was very good as well. The food was not. My prime rib was salty and some of the veggies that came with it were not done. I think it would be better without the onion strings piled on there. My wife had the Chilean sea bass and the fish was good . However, the polenta that came with it was cold. Came here about 2 weeks ago on a weekday night. I thought I had dressed fancy, but I was still underdressed. We got a bottle of the Chardonnay and Pellegrino (which the waiter pours for you at the table). We got the crab cake appetizer and the calamari (a different take on it with the sauce and delicious). I got the parmesan chicken (that's supposed to take about half hour to cook but was closer to 20 minutes). The chicken itself was moist and had good flavor and a big portion too. The beans and collard greens were a little plain otherwise. My guest got the salmon. I can't believe that I have done a review fo Savoy yet. Have been here 1/2 a dozen times since 2021. Always come with a group of 8-10 and we are always here during the week around 4pm. We like the bar area for drinks and food from the happy hour menu. Our last vist in July was very good. Our server was very able to handle 10 patrons who needed separate checks. He never got flustered. I overtip when servers are able to handle a larger group with agility. This is truly one of my top favorite spots in ABQ. They have not disappointed us yet. Calamari was crispy and came with good dipping sauces. Roasted Prime Rib: This was well worth the money. For $52, you get a 16 oz piece of prime rib and a heaping of mashed potatoes covered in crispy onions. This is definitely enough food for 2 people. Delicious food, soft lighting and attentive service make Savoy a standout. However, the only thing that would make this dining experience that much better, improving the parking. I'm incredibly hopeful that the parking lot will get a complete makeover. My wife and I were regulars at Savoy since it opened, but we haven't been visiting as often as we used to since prices are up notably and we felt like the number of special items on offer had dropped. I'm glad we returned. Our Christmas Eve visit last night was a delight, with tasteful and pretty decor, great service (owners circulating on-site, working amongst the staffers) and remarkably good food. And drinks were - dare I say, reasonably inexpensive for a place of this caliber. The brie and sour cherry appetizer was generously portioned and the toasts were well matched to the creaminess with a light garlic butter. My wife's old standby filet (with spinach casserole and mashed potatoes) was cooked exactly as she'd requested it and completely delicious. My (special) 24-hour smoked brisket may have been the best brisket I've ever eaten: another generous portion loaded with subtle, sophisticated flavor and so tender it melted in my mouth, served with a light honey spice glaze, a perfect buttery/crispy hasselback potato and rapini sauteed to just the right bright green crunch. Lord, I haven't enjoyed a meal so much in some time - and our retirement frequently centers on foodie travel. We came here the other night (Saturday) very late when they were getting ready to close, however, they graciously welcomed us last minute. The waitress was just clearing up and probably ready to go home but she was so great to take us last minute as well. We had reservations at another facility but left immediately because we were really disappointed. When we booked our reservation (at the other facility) we had stated that it was a special occasion and requested a booth. When we arrived they told us the tables were dirty but we could sit in the bar, why we left. When we ordered at Savoy we didn't order anything fancy at this point because it was late. I remembered they had a great burger and I wasn't wrong. Perfectly cooked with some crispy char on the edges and pinkish in the middle and their Philly the same! The wait staff were polite and cheerful, though we kept them late. Ambiance is lovely on the patio so we highly recommend this place. Savoy always has excellent food, however on this visit, they dropped the ball. My mom ordered the salmon medium well and when it came out, 2 minutes after the other 4 entrees, it was completely raw. So then the table had to wait to eat for awhile, but it took about 15 more minutes to re-do her salmon. Completely unacceptable for a fine-dining restaurant. Especially because the kitchen was NOT busy at all. Ruined my birthday experience, since my mom had to wait so long for her meal and had to eat it alone, since we were finished by the time it was redone. Server, Cameron, was awesome and apologized profusely. Won't go back to Savoy ever again! I guess this is what NM considers to be "fine-dining." The wasabi sesame seared ahi tuna was just incredible. I was concerned that the wasabi mashed potatoes would be too much but they were absolutely perfect. Best on the description I wasn't sure it was going to work for me, but now it's my favorite. The staff was pleasant and willing to answer questions about the menu. The waiter was willing to nudge us in the right direction for a really great experience. Ambiance was good today, but we went early in the evening so not a ton of people. I think I've found my new favorite restaurant in Albuquerque.... The service was incredible and we've thoroughly enjoyed every dish! Had reservations for Valentine's Day for me and my wife. First time here , we sat down ordered some drinks and appetizers. We both ordered filet Mignon. Mines medium rare , the wife ordered medium well. Steaks came mine was cooked how I liked it, my wife's was medium rare , we sent it back. I waited for her food to comeback 30 minutes later , my food was cold ; why would I eat without her especially on Valentine's Day. Her steak came and again was charred out the outside and still bloody pink. The waiter was nice as could be but noticed the steak was cooked the exact same way. I asked for the food to be removed and to get us our Check. No manager or supervisor came to check in through out this process, as we were walking out the kitchen staff and all wait staff said " hope you guys have a good night " laughing as if they knew what happened. So now we have no food , 100$ drinks in our stomach and nowhere else to go on an impossible day to get any other reservations. As we were walking out, we made it outside to then he ran down by what I assume was a manager, trying to give us discounts for next time. NO THANKS. I've wanted to write a review for quite some time now but never got around to doing so. When an email popped up and Savoy was highlighted, I wanted to take a moment to do so. With that being said, I typically try and get straight to the point with my reviews: Ambience: 4 This is a lovely restaurant and gives off an upscale vibe similar to a more-relaxed Ruths Chris. If they wanted to add that extra "something", I'd recommend a live piano player on weekends. Service: 4 (but can be hit and miss based on experience) Have always had very curious and attentive service (more so than less). Host/Hostess have always been welcoming. Food: 5 (also however can be hit and miss which is unacceptable for a higher-end/expecation dining experience). The food has always been very good. However, almost like a curse for some reason, when I have dined with my family (from 5 - 8 people), our orders have either come far too late, one entree not arriving with the rest, or an entree (or two) having to be sent back due to being lukewarm. Again, this is simply unacceptable considering the dining experience and prices. As I am someone who travels the United States extensively and regularly, I can speak with authority on dining out and acceptable and unacceptable food/service (depending upon location and other factors). I have come to the conclusion that with restaurants and even QSR's and coffee shops, basically expecting a minimum of 20%+, this had created a lackadaisical mindset with not only servers but cooks as well. It's a sense of knowing (for the most part) that they are going to be a historically above-average tip for performing the most basic of service. I'm not saying there aren't exceptions to the rule. My biggest concern with Savoy is essentially you don't know if you are going to have a 5-star experience or a 3-star experience especially with larger groups (more than 2 individuals). read more

We had an early birthday dinner for my daughter. 5 women, 4 generations, ages 14 to 91. We all loved our food. The service was great too.

We've visited this place 4-5 times and decided to come back last night. Like the previous times, we really enjoyed it! The cocktails are inventive and they use quality ingredients. The food is great as well but where they really shine is their service. Our waitress was THE BEST. My husband is a picky eater and typically dreads nicer restaurants because they don't have stuff he likes to eat (protein and potatoes guy, but he can't eat red meat). The waitress let him custom-build his plate with the Parmesan-crusted chicken breast (TDF), fingerling potatoes, and she even offered to get him mashed potatoes too. Who does that?!? This place does. He was a happy camper. I let the waitress pick my entree (she selected the ruby trout which was divine) and we got the calamari to share for an appetizer. No complaints on anything and we were impressed enough to get a dessert. The hazelnut chocolate tarte was super rich and well worth the indulgence. The ambiance at Savoy is a main reason I return and it was on point yet again last night. Beautiful lighting, comfortable seating and we got one of the corner booths so even got to sit next to each other. Five stars, too, for my dinner companion, but that's not what this site is about. Happy hour time at the Savoy with friend and YEE Shelly! We split calamari and a prime rib sandwich! We would have really been fine just splitting one thing as portions seemed generous. The sandwich beef was juicy along with caramelized onions. The bread was soft but held the sandwich together. A dill pickle and a boatload of Parmesan fries accompanied the sandwich. The calamari had a cream/red pepper purée that wasn't so spicy as it was flavorful. The calamari had a nice light breading. It was fine to Shelly's taste but ever so slightly over-cooked to mine. We both enjoyed and cleaned both plates! The place filled fast on a Thursday. We got there around 4 pm with plenty of seating. By the time we left, it was packed. The kids took me here for a special birthday dinner. It was excellent in all areas. The atmosphere, service and food were great! We had the goat cheese and calamari appetizers and can recommend both! This was so close to being a 5-star rating, but there were a couple reasons why they missed the mark. Let's start with the good: Our waiter was the highlight. He was funny, personable, and made us feel right at home. The Pizza of the Day we ordered was delicious. Crispy crust. Just the right amount of toppings. The house salad, however, was just OK. We had to ask for more dressing because they did not put enough. The greens also did not feel like the freshest. The House Red (Cabernet) paired well with everything we had. The letdown was upon checking in on Yelp, I was rewarded with a free dessert. After redeeming it, what they brought out was the saddest looking dessert plate. It looked like they threw 4 little truffles on a plate and called it good. Dear businesses, please don't provide check-in offers if you're going to give something substandard. I get it. It's free. Drinks took another 15 minutes. We were able to order our food once the drinks (2 Old Fashioneds which abrely had enough bourbon and WAY too sweet, and a bottle of wine) were delivered. We waited for the food about 30-40 minutes. My steak (ordered to go on too of the house salad) was cooked until it turned to rubber even though I had ordered medium rare. I really enjoyed the menu here, but it took at least 15 minutes to get water on a very quiet night. Once we had our waitress, she was excellent. But the bussers before that could not care less that we were there. I had the chicken and Virginia mussels for an appetizer, which was a great choice. Both were delicious, particularly the chicken. I didnt really like the ambiance or decor of the restaurant. I feel like they were going for a fancy feel, and the decor and ambiance didn't really match. Savoy is a story of two experiences, both of which are excellent. The main restaurant is fine dining. They serve a limited but delightful menu. The prime rib is expertly cooked and served. I have never been unhappy with this dish. Ladies love the filet. Meaty, flavorful and again, well-prepared. The salmon is excellent as is the Sesame Seared Tuna. They have some excellent pizzas as well as salads and appetizers. The main room prides itself on white linen service and it is almost always top notch. The second experience is the excellent bar area they have. There is a very nice patio with heaters and a fireplace which are wonderful when it is cool. They serve their full menu here, but the appetizers, sandwiches, and pizza seem most appropriate. They have the best steak sandwich and fries! We got there around 6:30pm and sat at the bar because it was so busy. The atmosphere is awesome in this place. They had a special of oysters so we got 6 of those which were fresh and tasted fantastic. I ordered the prime rib and my friend had the salmon. Both plates were phenomenal. I don't know if I have had a better prime rib in my life. The salmon was cooked perfectly and was flaky but moist. We also had a couple cocktails which were tasty as well! I LOVE SAVOY! We recently had our baby shower there before they opened their normal business hours. The service, food, and atmosphere for any event there is spectacular! They were so accommodating and communicated with us during the planning with ease. Our guests were all very impressed with the way our shower was presented by Savoy (who had allowed us to decorate and setup early before our guest arrived). Service is fine--no complaints there. The problem is with the food. I ordered the special of seabass and mussels. Mistakenly, I neglected to ask the price. The fish was fine, but the shellfish was definitely old--rank would be a better word to describe it. As I type this, I can still smell it on my hands, even after washing them. I'm hoping there isn't a visit to the emergency room in my future. Most galling, however, was the price. I cost $68.00 freaking dollars for 6 old mussels and three ounces of fish. I've eaten at top notch restaurants in Santa Fe for significantly less than this and the food and experience were infinitely better. Frankly, this place is a ripoff and I wouldn't recommend patronizing it. Save your money. There are much better places to eat in Albuquerque. This place makes Campo look like a bargain. read more
