They have very nice daily, happy hour specials. Beer selection was a nice, house wines were good. Friendly staff not a complaint in the world. A must try. It will be your favorite little spot in Vista.

As I am such a creature of habit this is, after many years, still one of our staple go to spots. It's just off the Paseo Vista downtown/south Santa Fe Ave area. I absolutely L*O*V*E when there's good consistency to places. The spicy Korean bbq tacos continue to be amazing!!! Cheese curds delish! And a tall wonderful pineapple cider is appreciated. We always receive service with a smile!! We've enjoyed sitting in all areas. The front patio porch, the inside (cozy) and the back/side patio regions. Check out their sites for the fun events that are held here! *only qualm is the tap water is NOT good.

I absolutely loved our experience. I have been suggested multiple times by trusted restaurant industry friends and finally made it out. So unassuming!!!! Tiny tiny little space with a big outdoor build-out. Fam and dog friendly. Group friendly. Draft list awesome and I'm a buyer. Had checked out their Yelp and website. Weekly specials. We happened to go when there were $1.25 wings and you can mix and match flavors. I didn't even order them for myself but bit a friends. Both flavors were super yummy and even when tossed, the skins were crisp through the sauce. Both flats and drums. I'm a tiny bite person and ordered hummus. Don't judge. Came out just as the website suggested in their photo. Consistency is everything. Thoroughly yummy for chat nibbling at $11, great 'share with a friend' food. Hands down the SERVICE!!!!!! We arrived shortly after they opened and I'm currently randomly on crutches so we sat closest/easiest outside. Our Server Deity, Lalah, was: 1) able to answer all of my random questions regarding menu and restaurant history/ownership 2) humorous 3) attentive and.... as the patio filled up, I saw how many regulars arrived that she unrolled the welcome mat for. I will def be suggesting and returning. Had a lovely first time. Appreciate you.

Cheese Curds. Small, irregularly-shaped chunks of cheese, battered and fried. The flavor is milky and mildly salty.

While we were drinking at Burgeon Beer Co. (across the street), we saw a QR code on our table to different restaurants from which we could order food from and have it delivered right to our table. Just make sure to add the note, "Burgeon at the Grove," at check out so they know where it should be delivered. THE FOOD. - Cheese Curds | Small, irregularly-shaped chunks of cheese, battered and fried. The flavor is milky and mildly salty. It also comes with a side of aioli for dipping. Nice, tasty appetizer. That's all we got from here, but their menu has much more to offer and would love to come back to try out other dishes.

It was a Saturday adventure. Hubby chose 508 tavern. We were looking for somewhere new to try. They had a little parking lot behind the restaurant. And we parked there. When we walked in, it's a tiny bar with bar seating and some tables. The patio is THE place to be. There are a couple of high table tops, some picnic tables and patio chairs and tables. It's very chill. We ordered mango habanero wings , sure and turf tacos and calamari. Everything was super fresh!!! We found our new place for wings!!!! Yay!!! The tacos I had were surf and turf tacos. Fresh fish tacos and Korean beef tacos. So delicious I even ate the onions!!! The calamari looked a little greasy, but honestly, the batter was so light!!!it was delicious!!! We will be back! Have to add that this place is dog friendly.

    Cheers

My friends would rave about 508 Tavern and it's long been on my list to try out. The main reason we didn't try earlier is because they don't have A/C and it was a bit on the smaller side. If you don't find a seat inside, you're relegated to sit on the patio which I think used to be their parking lot. Parking is on the street, so you may have to walk a bit. Being November, we opted to try Taco Tuesday. Most of the tacos are around the $2-3 mark and the reviews were all positive. We came and ordered all the tacos, each of us got three different one. We also got some beer, wine and a milk shake. The tacos were just "ok" to me, really not that special. They are street taco sized, and we've had much better versions at other places and food trucks. The Spicy Korean BBQ taco was not spicy and had too much liquid in it (see pic). The shrimp taco was my favorite of all I tried. The included tiny salsa had zero heat. The venue is very small, but there are two TV's inside and the chairs are padded (but the bench inside is not). They have about 10 beers on draft along with a draft cider and kombucha. (FYI - the blonde is very light & tasty, would recommend). Service was good, even though they were quite busy around 5:30pm. There is no happy hour, only daily specials (i.e. Taco Tuesday, Wing Wednesday, Thirsty Thurs, Slider Saturday, etc.) and beer prices are around $8 for a pint. I would be willing to try the wings & sliders, but for tacos I'd think we would pass on trying those again.

I love La La!!!! She was our server and made our night so much fun. The food was delicious too. Had the chorizo fries (which she recommended- so glad she did) and the wings! The habanero honey sauce was deeeelish. Definitely recommend this place :)

This is a great little place in Vista. My dad has lived in the area for most of my life and I love how it's developed recently and this place is a great addition. The people working there are very nice and I love that there's both indoor and outdoor seating options. They have great prices and even had a deal on wine when we visited. The highlight for me was the stuffed fried olives. My goodness they are delicious! There's a ponzu sauce they serve it with that makes them absolutely perfect. Overall, great place and highly recommend!

The flavor was good on the fish. The fries were crispy. My only disappointment is they served the malt vinegar on small portion cups instead of the shaker bottle. Hard to get an even spread. The pazole and the Cole slaw were both very good. Our server was attentive and friendly. They have water stations - coolers with cups stacked nearby. To me, the water tasted old ( I know -makes no sense). It had a very earthy note to it like the coolers weren't adequately cleaned. Would definitely go back!!

This is a no-frills country bar through and through -- think boots, country music, and a local crowd unwinding after work. The place has three full-size pool tables and two dart boards, which is decent for the size. There's plenty of parking in the back lot, which is always a plus. I was told they offer free pool on weekdays, but I happened to show up during league night, so tables were reserved and I only squeezed in one quick game. Still had fun, but it definitely limited the experience. Beer-wise, prices are moderate (nothing crazy for the area), but the tap selection is pretty limited if you're hoping for variety beyond the usual domestics and a couple macros. The lounge area feels basic -- a few high-tops and bar seating that could use some upgrading for comfort. A couple of easy wins would take this place up a notch: adding an outdoor smoking patio (big miss for a country bar crowd) and expanding the beer taps. Those changes would make it way more comfortable for hanging out longer. Overall, it's a cool, laid-back dive if you're in the mood to shoot pool on a quiet weekday afternoon or evening. Nothing fancy, but it has that authentic local feel. I'd recommend it to anyone who wants affordable drinks, a game of pool, and zero pretension. Just check the schedule first so you don't hit league night! Would return on a non-league weekday.

Inexplicably, my kids love beavers, and so when we were staying in Carlsbad for the night and looking for a place to eat, how could we not visit a place called Belching Beaver? We couldn't not! And so we did. It turns out, Belching Beaver is a very family-friendly brewery, with lots of arcade games, lawn games, and an extremely laid-back atmosphere. I wasn't going to get a beer, but then I saw that the brewery did a collaboration with the Deftones to create an IPA called Phantom Bride. I had to get a pint. Chino Moreno made me do it! It was citrusy and refreshing, and just the thing to enjoy while sitting on the outdoor picnic tables. Belching Beaver offers your average pub food. My kids got chicken tenders and fries, and mac and cheese with fries. I got a poke bowl, which sounds like a risky choice at a brewery, but it was actually really good and fresh! Not too saucy, either. We also got the carne asada 980 Nachos, which are huge and come on a baking sheet. Plenty enough to share! This place is tucked away in what looks like an office plaza. I'm learning that a lot of breweries in this area are posted up in situations like this. You look like you're driving into a nondescript place to get your contract notarized, but instead, you happen upon a cool restaurant and brewery such as this.

The menu had a good variety of items, and we decided to go with the chilaquiles and the shrimp and grits. I love Shrimp and grits, and it's not too common on menu's so i has to try it. The dish had pork belly instead of bacon, and shrimp. THe texture of the grits was very good, not too runny or too thick. The shrimp seemed good quality and not chewy or rubbery. I really enjoyed the dish and would order it again. The chilaquiles were an interesting take, not at all what you're normal chilaquiles would be. They come with lamb but we substituted with chicken. They were covered with a type of hollandaise sauce and we both thought they were good. I also ordered a breakfast shot that had bourbon in it, and a piece of pork belly on the top, and a shot of orange juice. It was pretty strong and very good. I would definitely order this one again, and the piece of pork belly they added on top was perfect.
