Great eatery tuck away on the second floor of Bloomingdale's inside Aventura mall. Clean & cheerful place with tables along windows and a bar eating area, good staff and good menu choices, with brunch menu on weekends. Over a week period I had the Mediterranean salad with grilled salmon, delicious, then another time the burger with grilled onions, mushrooms and roasted bell peppers succulent served with strings French fried potatoes, very copious, all priced reasonably, the service was great and the food served in a reasonably short time. This turned out to be a lovely surprise. It's a hidden away cafe in the corner of the second floor of Bloomingdales that is well worth searching out if you are at Aventura Mall. I was meeting a friend at the mall while tagging along with my husband who had a work appointment there. We usually go to the same place every time (the Cheese Course) as it's fast and convenient, but still better than the food court. And we've enjoyed the Bistro in Nordstrom's since being introduced to it via a Yelp event in Boca. But I was looking for a new place to try. According to my friend who lives near the mall, there's a new Peruvian place that opened there, but she's not big on ceviche and a new pizza place, but the service is very slow there. So on to my trusty yelp app to dig up an option. I didn't have high expectations based on some of the previous reviews, but boy was everything so good that this is now going to be my go to place in Aventura Mall. From the moment we entered (just my husband and I), we were warmly greeted. The place is all done in black and white. We were seated at a window table with a bit of sun, even though one of our party wasn't there. As it was cool out, the sun felt good. We explained to the friendly server that we were waiting for one more to join us. No problem. Would we like drinks while we waited? She came back to check on us often. My husband needed to go to work, so he ordered his meal and said I would wait for my friend. No problem. His lunch came just as she arrived. He'd ordered a trio salad which was huge. 3 scoops of tuna, chicken, and egg salad on top of greens plus a lovely basket of rolls and delicious lahvash crackers. Based on what we saw of the size of the portions being served around us, my friend and I decided to split a chicken Cobb salad from the daily specials menu. However, I didn't want onions and she didn't want bacon. No problem. They delivered the salad with a small ramekin of onions and one of chopped bacon as well as two of the balsamic dressing -- all on the side as requested. The salad was wonderful -- chicken perfectly grilled and sliced and just perfect to share. When you get great service with such a pleasing attitude, it just adds to the dining experience. We sat chatting and I told our server, as it was getting busier by then, if you need the table,just let us know. Her answer? No problem, enjoy your visit. And we did! Come to this place on a regular basis... it has a yoghurt ice cream that really tastes like real yoghurt!!! It is good, smooth and creamy... not too dietetic though!!! But once in a while, a small cheat on the diet is not bad. Service is always good at the bar area and the place is clean... it is located in the women's clothing section and there are restrooms just inside. One of the best places to dine in the Aventura area! I had lunch here with my wife and one of her girlfriends during a working expedition for me and a shopping excursion for the ladies. I also was invited to lunch by one of my peers as a going away luncheon during my last week of employment. My choice as we were both at Aventura mall and he let me choose. When I selected 5th and Lex inside Nordstroms he smiled and said excellent choice. It was a bitter sweet lunch as we discussed our business interactions over the last 12 years, but a great lunch none the less! A varied menu offering many salads incorporating local produce and some exotic twists. Varied protein items to add to your salads or you can go full out Vegan and enjoy your favorites meatless dishes. During both my lunches here I tried 2 different types of their signatures salads and was very happy. Sandwiches of all varieties and local ethnic sandwiches, hot entrees and beverages plus your favorite wines. Service is top notch and friendly in a relaxed atmosphere. Lunch with 6 lunch buddies at this Blommie's Cafe. We all ordered a variety of meals. The service is always great. They have really good yogurt soft serve ice cream. Some meals come with it. I ordered a soft omelet that came with a salad. It was a little over cooked even though I asked for it to be soft. I think it was a bit pricey too! $15. For an omelet? Located inside the Bloomingdales this place used to be so good and I would come for lunch here at least once a month. Well it seems that the food just went down the hill or perhaps just our luck and the 3 dishes that we ordered weren't good. Grilled Salmon seemed like it was frozen for a million years, defrosted and then grilled with no seasoning and served so dry that even squeezed lemon didn't help. Key West chopped salad doesn't deserve such a beautiful name since it was so plain and unappetizing that no dressing could save it. Vegetarian stir fry was just ok, the noodles were slightly overcooked, the veggies too saggy. Should have gone to Cheesecake Factory or Bella Luna. Oh well no next time here. read more

Low quality ingredients. I was fooled by upscale appearance of the menu, the location (Bloomingdale's) and the atmosphere. The chicken wrap had a very tough old tasting chicken, the toast looked like the cheap bag variety. The waitress told me the fish was frozen after I asked her to check with the chef. There was nothing fresh or homemade about this place. My mom's $19 omlette was thin and we realized later then didn't put the order in right. U can do better in this mall, highly suggest to avoid unless for coffee. read more

Its a waiter service cafe located on the 2nd floor of Bloomingdale's tucked away in the back behind the ladies fashion department. I come to get takeout lunch here at least once a month. Their burgers are to die for. An eight-ounce char-grilled Black Angus burger served with skinny fries. My other lunch of choice is the soup and half a sandwich (tuna salad, chicken salad, egg salad or turkey). Everything is always really fresh though at times they can be a little heavy handed with the salt in the soup. The sweet potato fries are pretty good too. read more

So far I have tried many items on their lunch menu for take out or eat in. Their Chicken Tenders are well sized and very juicy, which I really thought they would be dry...nope. The Chicken Caesar Salad was good, but the only thing I would do differently next time is eat it there, as when you get it to go, you have to apply the dressing and it just doesn't mix well when you do it. Their Tuna wrap is very good, as well as their Classic Tuna Salad sandwich. The tuna is not dry, but also not too too wet. It has a nice texture. I have ordered both with either the fries that traditionally come with the meal; not too crispy, or I have for $.75 more ordered the side garden salad. So far 59th and Lex Cafe has not disappointed, and is one of my favorites within Aventura Mall. ***UPDATE*** Met a few friends for lunch one day, and I ordered the California Wrap...succulent shrimp with caramelized onions, avocado, lettuce with a garlic aioli sauce...WOW!!! this wrap was bursting with flavor, and the sweet potato fries on the side were a nice balance. Its decor is in black and white, very simple. It is set up against the glass windows of the store which make it look very nice as the lighting from the outside lights up the area. It has a menu with a wide range of items. There is a coffee bar in the front with a display of the desserts you can buy. I ordered the philly cheesesteak wrap with sweet potato fries and a chocolate yogurt for dessert. The wrap was decent and hit the spot. The yogurt was your regular yogurt from the swirly machine and was just as I expected. I did luv the sweet potato fries my dish came with, they were delicious. I have to agree with other reviewers that this is a great option to the food court. I had gone to the food court to try and get a bite to eat and it was so packed! I left and decided just to hold off on eating because it was uncomfortably packed. I just didn't have the time to wait to eat at one of the restaurants in the mall but didn't want to eat at the food court either. Well this place was just right. This is my favorite restaurant in Aventura. Whether you're in a hurry and want to order and go or have the time to dine in, the staff is always friendly and welcoming. The menu options are superb with a creative mix that will satisfy any palate. My favorite dish was the grilled chicken-bacon avocado on a nice toasty Challah bread. I often have a tough time deciding between the Chicken Francese with fresh herbs and sautéed lemon-butter white wine sauce or the Grilled Cajun Mahi-Mahi. Whether for Sunday brunch or a relaxing glass of wine in the evening I always feel at home. This little cafe is hidden within the back of Bloomingdales and has a pretty cute setup. The customer service is great, food arrived promptly (I work in the mall, so this is very important) and they offer a variety of foods on the menu. They also offered me a discount for working in the mall (also very important). The prices are fair for a sit down meal, as well as for the "Bloomingdales crowd." And although my experience was pleasant, I just can't say that I "love" this place. I would however suggest it be the perfect option for two to avoid the food court and have a private lunch. Great for mother/daughter or girls day out shopping option as its quiet and you can actually hear what the other person opposite of you is saying. Overall I'd give it 3.5 stars, but I will definitely give it another try and perhaps then they can get me to go 4 star. read more

The restaurant is carved out of the top corner of the bloomingdales and has an incredible amount of natural light pouring in through huge windows. Amazing new spot I stumbled upon while searching for a dress in the ladies department of Bloomingdale's on the 2nd floor. I was greeted warmly and given a menu and table immediately. I was very impressed by the kindness and friendliness of the staff. I ordered the salmon lunch special and it was super delicious. The salmon was perfectly cooked and seasoned accompanied by delicious basmati rice and asparagus. I can't wait to come back here and try the salads. They look amazing and enormous!!! I had no idea Bloomingdale's had a restaurant inside the store, but I'm glad they do. Although it's strange eating while staring at a $500 dress, the food here is amazing. This is my second visit, and I ordered the burger with fries, and I can see why it's been recommended. Great burger. Big burger. The fries are golden and crispy and just right. Last time I had the Chicken Francese and it was really probably one of the best I had ever had. So, "Mad Props" to Bloomingdale's for this place, and a big thank you to the my coworkers that suggested it. The staff is very friendly and you will be sure to have an enjoyable time here. Cappuccino was undrinkable. Cookie was labelled white chocolate and macadamia but tasted very coconut-y. I told the server that I couldn't drink the coffee and she offered to make another but when I declined, said "oh ok, sorry about that." So I paid $4.50 for one revolting sip of coffee.
