Mitch is an awesome person. His Auto Shop is Clean and their service is excellent. I read some reviews and decided that his shop would do the job right. I only needed to get my truck Smog Test and certificate. This is the first Smog Test I've needed in a long time. I guess CA doesn't require a Smog Test until your vehicle turns 8 years old. I read another review where the customer didn't drive his truck much and Mitch told him to drive about 90 miles and come back. My truck also sits a lot so I took a long drive before taking it in. Sure enough when Mitch checked the low mileage he asked if I'd driven it much lately and I told him I took a long drive before bringing it to his shop. It passed. Quick Service with a smile. One caution, a coupon popped up and I wound up at a different shop and they were going to charge me double even applying the coupon. Make sure you double check the address on any pop up ads or coupons. Mitch's shop is on 5th Avenue in Escondido. I'll trust him if I ever need repairs. I highly recommend his shop. read more

An absolutely great shop to deal with. Mitchell is very welcoming, knowledgeable and no BS sales techniques. He understands how vehicle systems work, and explains it to you in a way that anyone can understand. I know my way around a vehicle, and even as I played dumb I could instantly tell they have good intentions with their customers. The shop is very well equipped, I saw tire changers, 2 and 4 post lifts, appropriate AC equipment, alignment racks, quality tools and a ridiculously clean shop. I can't you how RARE it is to see an auto shop so clean, and when I mean clean, cleaner than your house. That's a obvious testament to how they operate. Having been an automobile diagnostic center owner before retirement, my husband and I were pleased to find another honest mechanic, without a scam game plan going on with smog test pricing. We certainly would have used this business for a smog test, but it turns out that our registration renewal said we had to go to a Star certified shop this time. 5th Ave Auto Service gave us one price, not a whole bunch of them, to do certain vehicles other than regular cars. The testing device simply plugs into the vehicle, 2000 and newer, regardless if it is a truck, van, SUV, etc. That's a scam game the owner here doesn't play. He's a man of integrity. When he quotes $30, it's for all the paper work. This is called being fair to everyone, when the time and work is the same. I went to this place 2 or 3 times. Had a decent experience with the guy I dealt with. The place isn't cheap(145 hour labor). They offer a diagnostic print out on your car which I liked. It was probably to hit you up for their overpriced service( using term loosely). I had been quoted 400 dollars by the guy who was working when I was there. I had just gotten out of the ER two times within a week. I wanted to get my supposed 400 dollar 120k service done on my Prius. I dealt with this rude jerk who now quoted me over 1000 dollars ! I was like what happened to 400 dollars and he goes it's a thousand. I told him I was in ER twice and had a bit of brain fog. He goes call us back when your brain fog clears it's a thousand. Totally unethical and rude and unsympathetic. I wouldn't have this jerk touch my car. The car has been serviced every 5000 miles since new. 2019 Prius. From 400 to a grand? Really? Went to Owen's automotive and they have been in business since 1951 and were great! Car runs amazing and done for far cheaper than Mr. ripoff. Steer clear of these bad ripoff actors. I figured I wouldn't be able to make an appointment late in the day but to my surprise, I was told to come on down at 4 pm. I arrived and immediately was helped. STRONGEST RECOMMENDATION: Very fast reply to Yelp quote request and I was offered multiple choices with clear explanation on brakes & a starter. Once there, Efren Lozano provided excellent customer service. He is highly experienced & took time to carefully explain all repairs. He saved me $100's on unneeded brake components recommended by Sears. He additionally saved me $100's more by repairing my old starter, instead of simply replacing it, as other shops wanted to do. You will not find a CLEANER shop; you could eat off the floor. The comfortable waiting room has a great TV, conference table work while you wait, WiFi, refreshments & very clean bathroom. Their rates a reasonable & the work completed on time. Excellent customer service! I came in without an appointment when my car started overheating and dumping coolant. I was over 500miles away from home in Northern CA and just picked the closest shop. The staff were extremely kind to me and took me in immediately. They did a series of tests and diagnostics and, despite the fact that they spent several hours on it, they gave me a full refund for service after they couldn't determine the issue and my car conked out on me again, over 100 miles away. They took the time to communicate thoroughly with me and offer as much help as they could. The whole time they were really understanding and empathetic. I went about a week ago, the owner is very polite, knowledgeable, and helpful. they checked my brakes, and recommended appropriate service. The price was very low for the Lexus that we have. I know the dealership would've charged at least twice the amount. The waiting room is clean professional and quiet. They even let me use the conference room to do computer work in. Since I found them I have not gone to any other mechanic. They service all of my vehicles including my MINI which is highly modified and scares most mechanics into either not working on it or charging me an exurbanite rate to scare me away. 5th Ave Auto Service do anything and everything your car might need and they do it in the cleanest shop I have ever seen.
