    Chips!
    Tim Y.

One of the few places open Thanksgiving evening. Stopped by to satisfy a nachos craving. The nacho bar is a big plus! $2.99 gets you a tray of chips and unlimited condiment bar with a chili and a cheese dispenser. If you are a vegetarian, avoid the chili as it does contain meat. It would have been nice if the chips were warm, but I bet you can microwave the chips prior to topping it off. Also picked up a couple of Slurpee's, hot Cheetos, and, yes, lottery tickets to complete the full convenience store experience. If you don't see another review from me that means I've won the jackpot. Lol There's plenty of parking right in front. Located opposite end of the Starbucks but next to the Starbucks Drive-in entrance.

I'm gonna be honest, I had their matcha from their OG store in Westwood when they were called Sip! I always thought their matcha was good, but I only got to enjoy it when I was going to school around there which was brief! Aside from now aging myself, I got the Guava Matcha from them and the employee recommended getting less sweet if I don't like overly sweet drinks. I have to say, it was perfect sweetness for me! The balance of matcha flavor and guava was 5/5. I'll definitely be back the next time I'm shopping in the area. It was satisfying and makes me crave their matcha!

The inside was very cute and had a very clean look. They had two kiosk on the side if you want to order on your own or you can order with someone helping you. We ordered thru kiosk, so not too much interaction with staff. Drinks did come out fast though! Overall, decent place for drinks.

It also has an old-timey study or library or at least a literary vibe to this place. There's multiple rooms, including a stage in the back room. I think they have events here. I ordered the Lucky Charms White Mocha. It was tasty, but definitely a drink I wouldn't be able to order on the regular. I was able to set up my computer and one of the side rooms and get some work done. This place seems to be a very popular place for studying and doing some work. Just a great place in a great area. Also, the special menu items didn't have their prices listed, but since the regular menu items were very reasonably priced, I thought the special menu probably was just slightly higher. I ordered a Cookie Butter Latte and a cappuccino, paid in cash with a $20, tipped $2 and had $3 and some coins left. Didn't really think about it until we've left - Cappuccino was $4.25, meaning that the Cookie Butter Latte was a $10 drink. Apologies but personally, it didn't taste like a $10 drink. Probably won't go all the way there again.

This place was solid!…read more The ambience is not only crazy clean, but the vibes are chill. I went on a random afternoon where it wasn't very busy so I was in and out in less than 5 minutes once I decided what I want. Very spacious and has a ridiculous amount of seating so I'd imagine even when they are busy, it's tolerable. The art on the wall is also *chefs kiss*. It was my first time here so I asked the staff for some support and he did a good job breaking things down for me. He didn't have much enthusiasm or seem excited by my business, which I typically love about smaller coffee shops, but that's really my only criticism. I ordered the Yemeni Latte w/ Soy milk as an alternative. If you like spice, 10/10, great flavor. If you don't, choose something with a more gentle touch. Overall, the experience is a 9/10 but I'll give it 5/5 stars. They didn't wow me, so if I had to choose between going back there or trying a new small coffee shop, I'd choose the latter. Will I choose it over a big name franchise, every time. Have I had better coffee shop experience, absolutely.

Food: I went here twice and every single time I get any of the shwarmas or meat pies, its cold. Not just a little bit, the entire inside and bottom is soggy cold. It tastes good, super light not heavy, but the coldness makes it unappetizing unfortunatly. Additionally, the biscoff cake was super dry for a milk cake, but the taste is still nice. The saffron and caramel cake are nice though, milky, sweet, pairs well with a hot drink. Drink: Dissapointing. Matcha, Chai, Latte, Smoothie, Refresher--I tried them all and was dissapointing. Matcha (latte, mango, and strawberry) tasted insanely water, same with the adani chai--which is something I look forward to at every cafe. I think increasing the milk content in the chai could really improve it. Coffee was also done poorly (iced and hot). Refresher was alright, super sweet but other than that it wasnt bad. The only thing that was the best was the smoothie. The mangorabian tastes like a chocolatey mango lassi, you can't go wrong with a smoothie. Room for improvement on everything. Overall: Very nice elegant cafe that is perfect for hangouts and doing work, the food needs to get warmed up longer to avoid coldness and all the drinks need to be improved to increase the quality of the taste. Looking forward to the change!

They sell a ham & cheese croissant, coffees, teas, lattes, and four flavors of Japanese shaved ice called kakigori, which is the star of the show. The texture of this shaved ice is like fluffy cool softness that melts in your mouth. It is different than the traditional shaved ice and it is far from a snow cone. We ordered mango and kinako (a roasted soybean flour commonly mixed with sugar). These are large desserts! It takes time to make them since there are fresh ingredients inside. The mango was superb with little bits of fresh mango buried inside the ice. Not sickeningly sweet like the syrups most places use. My husband's had little mochi pieces mixed inside. It is common to add kinako to mochi so this was a bonus and a nice surprise. The kinako dessert was sweeter than the mango. Please know that there seems to be no a/c in this little shop but she has fans going. We went in the late afternoon so it was really uncomfortable inside. I had to leave and wait outside until the dessert was ready. It's hard to take these home as it melts fast so we sat inside to enjoy them. It was like heaven in my mouth and it cooled me down instantly. You must be patient as it takes at least 10-15 minutes for her to prepare the desserts but it is worth the wait! There is a small parking lot right in front shared with other businesses. Located right off the freeway behind Burger King.

I'm still glad it only costs me $4.90 for the cup and they haven't raised prices on beverages. It's the only beverage I purchased here for years. Decent and good tasting, more milky flavor, and not overly sweet. $4.90 is much better than $7 elsewhere. I wish they had more tables and chairs inside. When that happens, I have to give them kudos because at some places, the changes are so subtle they're almost meaningless. The drinks were OK, and they did the job on a a cold and rainy morning. As for the pastries, they were just OK. I've had better at other bakeries (and other branches of this same company), and with the plethora of options around for baked goods, you can find better. With that being said, it may just have been the couple of choices we had for food. The ube filled baked good was not very good, but I say that as an ube fiend. I have ube a lot, including back in the motherland. It was more like taro than ube, when it came to taste. As for the quantity, there wasn't a lot of it either. The actually bread part was soft and nice, and it was pretty. The egg tarts weren't the best. They left something to be desired. I would suggest getting something else. Maybe we made the wrong choices this time at 85, because I've definitely had better baked goods at their other locations.

He was such a nice guy with big plans for the food! Into the food itself - The tuna mayo onigiri was STUFFED. There was so much flavor in every bite. I was a little cranky you have to order in twos but afterwards that first bite, I'm glad I had a whole one to myself! We got the Portuguese sausage with musubi and chili oil. The chili oil had a lot of heat and flavor to it! I don't recommend the chili oil if you're picturing a light spice because it packs a punch. But if you like the fire, highly recommend! My partners favorite was the classic teriyaki spam with unagi and avocado. I really enjoyed the portion sizing of each item - created a really perfect bite. The unagi had an extra smokiness to it. I think it's probably prepared in house/not supermarket unagi - the taste was quite different from that! The chicken lumpia was crispy and perfectly seasoned - not too salty and savory. The Thai chili sauce wasn't too spicy at all either. We'd definitely be back to try more!

While the musubi are absolutely amazing, and it is their namesake, the Mrs. And I really like the onigiri! It's surprisingly hard to find truly good onigiri here in the US that lives up to the quality of the ones you'd get in Japan. Leonard, the owner clearly puts a ton of effort into each. He's definitely perfected his craft. The Mrs. and I have ordered from here casually many times before on our days off. We've tried the tuna, mentaiko, and ume. Mentaiko is my personal fave. The tuna is excellent too, and the ume has a classic salty-tangy flavor that's unique and refreshing. It's a great option for vegetarians as well. Recently, we ordered from Leonard to have onigiri catered for our daughter's birthday party. We got those 3 flavors. Originally, we just wanted something unique for the adults alongside the chicken nuggets and pizza we got for the kids. Man, we are so glad we did. The onigiri was a massive hit! People absolutely loved it, including guests who weren't necessarily huge into Japanese food or culture. They disappeared FAST! Like so fast I didn't get to eat one myself! This place is seriously a hidden gem in the East Bay. Definitely stop by, try the musubi and onigiri, and say hi to Leonard, who is genuinely one of the nicest people/owners you'll meet.
