    Pork Katsu Curry
    Ryan S.

Misasa has always been a convenient option inside the Mitsuwa market. The price is still very affordable, but from the picture you can see that the portions are significantly smaller in terms of the amount of katsu provided. Overall, the food tasted ok, but it was not very filling or enough for a full meal. If you want a quick snack, this is a decent option inside the market.

Grilled Salmon - came with a bowl of rice and miso soup

Misasa, can be found inside the Mitsuwa marketplace's food court right next to Hokkaido Ramen Santouka in Irvine. I personally don't order from this restaurant but my husband has for several years. I don't know why he goes there, because every time he buys the food, his opinion is always just "meh". Literally every time. It never fails. He says "meh". I ask why he continues to go to them but he just says "I don't know". I've tried all the food he's purchased which was also just ok for me. Go to the counter, order your food and find a seat/table. It's best to go outside of the lunch and dinner rush. If you don't want to purchase a drink from the restaurant or the market, make sure you bring your own water. Water for the food court is room temp from a faucet. I prefer water filtered by reverse osmosis, so the water for the restaurants are not to my liking at all. What he has ordered most recently; 1) Grilled salmon - The salmon was served with rice, miso soup, a potato salad, sliced unseasoned cucumber and cooked bean sprouts. My son thought the salmon was alright. He ate all of it because he was hungry but he wasn't all that impressed with it. I ate the bean sprouts which I normally love to eat, but this was not seasoned. It seemed like it was only cooked in water. 2) Mixed tempura - shrimp and veggie tempura over rice, served with the tempura dipping sauce. The sauce was very flavored. Heavy in taste, both sweet and salty. It was overpowering the tempura, so we ate them without the sauce. I'm not used to tempura sauce having such a strong taste. That was a first for me. 3) Gyudon - thinly sliced beef over rice, served with red ginger. I didn't get to taste this one but my kids said it reminded them of Yoshinoya's beef bowl. It's a 3 out of 5 for me. The food has consistently been mediocre. I know my husband will be back though. I'll be next door eating the ramen.

Quick, easy, and delicious if you're looking to satisfy your Japanese cuisine craving! Located in Mitsuwa's food court - order at the counter and wait for your number to be called. Order dine in or takeout! There's a selection of rice and noodle dishes I've tried most of the menu items and it's always a great portion. Rice bowls even come with miso soup! There's a bathroom located near the food court and there's a busser for all the trays and dishes when you're done.

Located in Mitsuwa food court. Every time I come here good experience. I like getting there today's special which is Cotto curry over rice with a side salad. My nephew today got a beef bowl, which was absolutely delicious. Service was good. Both meals came up to be $26 which is a great deal.

My wife and I stopped by here at the Mitsuwa food court for Japanese food. I ordered the cold noodles with tempura and my wife the bento with sashimi, tempura, miso soup, with pickles, rice and vegetables. For my dish, the cold noodles were good and satisfied a craving. The tempura though tasted like it had been hanging around awhile waiting for a mouth to feed. The tempura crust was on thick and on the hard side, although the vegetables and shrimp within tasted good. My wife's tempura was the same but the sashimi was fresh and the rice, miso soup and vegetables were well prepared. The gentleman behind the counter was polite and efficient. The ambiance of the Mitsuwa food court, as always, is pleasant. The price for the portion served was reasonable.

I come to misasa to get their pork / chicken Japanese curry rice for under $10. It's decently sized and comes out quickly. Their service has gotten better over the years and I've always had a friendly experience. The restaurant is located inside Mitsuwa's food court. Lots of open seating, just make sure to order before their 7pm closing time.

Food was great. The chicken wasnt fatty, it was breaded well, and pretty filling. The curry sauce was delicious and not lacking at all. The ratio of food was all very good. There was no wait to order and the food came out quickly. The area is pretty calm and quiet, but I can see it getting busier during lunch hours or the weekend. I would definitely get this meal again.

This spot is inside the Mitsuwa market feels like a hidden gem. The service was quick and the food was really good. We got the beef udon bowl and the pork cutlet bowl. The portions were generous and we also got a side of a small pork soup. The port cutlet was delicious the beef broth was savory. The price was relatively cheap as well. And afterwards you can shop around Mitzuwa. Would recommend to friends.

For $13 inside mitsuwa, I had higher expectations. The beef wasn't that tender and flavorful. Super chewg. The mjso soup was just okay. I came at 12:30 on a Friday and it wasn't too busy. I waited around 7 minutes for the food. Maybe I should've tried something else. Not bad, but nothing apwxial

3.5/5 stars This place is located in the Mitsuwa marketplace. Overall solid curry for the price. The pork cutlet had some moist pieces, but some parts were dry. The curry was flavorful. It wasn't spicy for me, and was on the sweeter side. Portion size was large. Not as good as Maji curry or coco ichibanya per my boyfriend, but still a solid meal. The food came out quickly after ordering, and the staff helped to clean up our trays when we were done.

Place is located in the food court in the back corner Mitsuwa Marketplace and is quite the hidden gem for quick yet affordable Japanese food. The restaurant offers excellent variety from Japanese curry to sushi. The chicken curry is solid and crunchy. The tempura sashimi combination is also an excellent choice to get a variety of options including a side of miso soup and rice. The food court also has plenty of seating if you wish to sit in and eat, or you can grab food to go. Either way, the food is made and bought out fairly quickly with excellent service. Nice place to eat for a quick lunch or dinner and definitely great to place get an affordable meal while shopping.

Not bad for what you get and quicker service compared to other restaurants in the plaza if you come during a weekend afternoon. We got the chicken cutlet curry combo and some udon combo (I forget which one). The chicken cutlet was a little dry but still was pretty good for a quick breakfast. The udon also came with warm and comforting broth. Overall, not bad if you're looking for a quick meal.

Parking: Misasa is located in the food court of Mitsuwa which is located at the Irvine Heritage Plaza. It shares parking with a lot of other businesses and parking might be a bit difficult. Interior: The food court is rather small compared to the other Mitsuwa food courts that I have been to. It might be difficult to get a seat during meal times. Food: I got the Yakiniku Beef Bowl. Nothing really stood out in particular so it was alright. It came with a side of miso soup, edamame, and a pickled side dish. The portions were decent and relatively cheap.

Both of their menus are very similar, and you will see some same dishes across the two. We started off with their crispy kara-age (fried chicken) which is best eaten with a squeeze of lemon and dunked into their yummy garlicky, oniony dipping sauce. Always best eaten right out of the fryer, piping hot. You just can't go wrong with their most popular app. For starters, we also got their blistered shishito peppers, which comes with bonito flakes dancing from the steam of the peppers. If you've never had shishito peppers before, they are very very mild in spiciness, but be warned you'll always have one extra spicy pepper when you least expect it! For our main, we got the spicy beef udon, which comes simmering in its metal bowl atop a fire, keeping it hot as you enjoy it slowly. The red broth has a nice kick of heat, but not so spicy that it will irritate your throat. The slices of beef are oh so tender and flavorful. The rich broth clings on perfectly to the thick udon noodles. If you're sharing, plan on getting extra udon noodles to soak up all that delicious broth! At the end, drop the cheesy rice ball into the broth to make a congee, soaking up more of that delicious broth. First off, it's a pretty great value. You get a set meal for a very good price these days, since the katsu meals come with their homemade katsu sauce (tastes like a slightly sweet and sour peanut satay), cabbage salad, rice, miso soup, and pickles. If you're looking for value only, this is great. Even the appetizers and sushi rolls are reasonable. I like that you can add on extra curry or some pieces of sushi or gyoza with your katsu or udon meal, and can add more than one. We saw a lot of takeout orders going out, though you don't get the soup. - Agedashi Tofu A light, popcorn crisp fry with sturdy cubes of tofu with enough dashi to cover them all. Respectable appetizer if you like tofu. All the pieces are very hot inside. - Hako Tonkatsu The pork cutlet is pounded so flat and enormous. I added a side of mild curry, which tasted like a good normal Japanese curry, and the additional gyoza were standard grocery filling (seemed to have more of a baked than fried texture on the skin). The nutty satay-like sauce went well with the katsu, but the curry was better. The rice was good and fluffy, and the pickles added an acidic balance. The miso soup was on the salty side. I liked how light and refreshing the cabbage salad was, though I prefer other dressings over this Thousand Island-like creamy one. The katsu itself was a bit disappointing, as it was devoid of moisture and the crisp could have been better. - Chicken Katsu The chicken was slightly better than the pork, as it retained a little more moisture and was just a bit more tender. However, all other aspects were the same. We tried the spicy curry for this plate, and it had the same taste as the regular curry, but with a bite. If you like pain more than taste when you eat spicy foods, I guess that'd be why you choose the spicy here. Considering it took nearly an hour for us to get a table on a random weekday night (seated close to 8pm), I definitely was expecting the food to taste much better. The tables are situated very close to each other, too, so you'll probably have a neighbor within your elbow space. It's not even a contender for a majority of katsu places in NorCal or Hawaii. But if you're in the area and have a craving and want a lot of food for the price, it's fine. If you have leftovers, they will give you an extra new side of their sauce, which is sweet.

I had expected the business to be in a more high volume area, however a benefit of their corner spot was that the parking lot had plenty of spaces. There's no indoor seating, but outdoor tables were set up along the north and east perimeters of the building. I was by myself at this latest visit, and it was close to the end of the day so the inventory was quite depleted. There was no line at all which was not a surprise. The famous Strawberry Croissants and prepackaged items were on refrigerated display to the left when you walked in. As the service counter rounded a corner, there were more fresh baked goods on display before you reached a register. Across from the registers were shelves containing bags of fresh bread products. I bought a Strawberry Croissant, a Sticky Bun, a Ham and Cheese Croissant, and an Apple Croissant. The quality of the pastry dough was very good, and I could see why the Strawberry Croissant was a favorite with the customers. The croissants were light and flakey, and the powdered sugar added a delicate topping to the strawberry version. If I were to rate on just the Strawberry Croissant, then it would be five stars. My overall rating was downgraded because of the customer traffic flow. The lines can be optimized so that if you wanted to buy a six-pack of the Strawberry Croissants and/or anything prepackaged, then a separate queue should be arranged for those customers. The cafeteria trays were of limited use if you were not getting a large number of items. As you advanced in the queue, other products had to be requested from a worker behind the counter and then those were not placed on the tray. Ultimately, I think they can configure the operation to more efficiently handle the higher volume periods of the day.
