Late night hotpot and bbq what else do you want ? We went on a Friday night and this hit the spot. We got the bbq option but you can get the hotpot if you'd like and if you want both that can be arranged as well. I loved that the portions come as individuals. I've been to places where they give you a mountain of meat. Overall our experience was great! The quality of the meat was really good. Btw the rice is free! Not a fancy place but you definitely get a good amount of food for what you pay. We did the hot pot only but they do offer korean bbq as well. You get to pick however many types of meats you'd like. (Pace yourself). While that's brought out you can head over to the buffet area to grab your spices to add a kick to your hot pot along with vegetables and noodles. They also have dessert when you're done with your meal. The vegetables are in little pots that almost look like little plants at a grocery store. It's kinda cute. This is a solid ayce hotpot place for Florida. I know that Boca Raton is not known for its asian food. In fact, it's pretty bad. But also, I am from SoCal and the asian food is incredible so keep that in minds. However 818 is an amazing option for lunch or dinner. The hotpot broths were solid and all of the options for protein and veggies were fresh. On top of that, they have a side bar full of other cooked foods and sides. I chose tom yum and green peppercorn for my broths. Both were good but I liked the green peppercorn better. I liked the chicken skewers and the mini bbq pork buns. I love that they were smaller so that you could try a little bit of everything. For $32 a person, this is a great deal. The place was clean, organized, and spacious. We then had another waitress who then managed our table and rarely saw her to answer our questions or request silverware since eating beef with chopsticks was hard. 818 Heat has been a little off beat since my last time. I had a good feeling when I first came in because I haven't been back for quite some time and saw they re-worked some things. They added a sauce poster on the wall to guide you on how to make specific sauces, and they even added new side dishes. We both got the hot pot and bbq. It was $31.95 for just one of the options and 6$ more to add the other option. What threw me off to update my review was the service we received was horrendous. They included an 18% tip, to do the bare minimum service. I mean not much service is needed but they don't check up for refills. After your first order, they tend to go to the front and hang out with their coworkers. Not to mention, it took about 20 minutes to pay. They just give me the feeling that they are taking advantage of the already included tip. We tip regardless but at least don't make us wait around to order more meats, pay the bill, or even a refill. read more

Upgraded from when it first opened and so much better now! Much cleaner, more options, better food quality. Service is attentive. They have large outdoor seating area and big booths inside. Careful the Booth chairs do move and you have to bring them closer to the table sometimes. There's a nice big open fridge with veggies, noodles, shrimp paste and eggs for hot pot. Then there's a fridge for ice cream. There's a side dish aisle with seaweed salad, kimchi, spring rolls, sesame balls, chicken feet, fried chicken, salted chicken, cucumber salad. The sauce bar is fully stocked and well kept. I liked that they also had dried toppings like sesame seeds and chili flakes. The BBQ selection is pretty big with lots of beef options like bulgogi, kalbi, ribeye and more. The best was the brisket wrapped enoki. There's spicy pork bulgogi, pork belly, squid, and other meat. All the marinated meats were a little too sweet for me but that's personal preference. Everyone else in my party loved it. The hot pot options had your typical beef and lamb slices, tripe, squid, mussels, and there's also crab in the veggie fridge. The concept of doing hot pot and BBQ at the same time is a little stressful for me and confusing for my mind but with a big group it's fun and manageable. I was really excited for this place but ended up really disappointed. But we only went with the Korean bbq option and saw other tables all choose hot pot. So this review is solely on the bbq option. And it was not good. The quality of the meat were not fresh and the marinade on all of them were overly sweet. All the pieces of meat we had were really chewy. The pork belly was all fat and barely any meat. Ribeye was rubber. The menu is a little misleading because they show food that the restaurant do not offer like the beef tongue. The side items and food on the buffet bar were also stale like the Kim chi, pickled radish, "donuts", egg rolls. On the positive side, service was quick. The sauce station was really clean and I like how there's a menu on top that details how to make specific sauces. I was just really disappointed in this place but the hot pot looked better. Overall pretty good hot pot place and reasonable pricing. We only did hot pot here and not bbq. They were relatively quick and provided every really fast. They also fried dough and ya know , it's pretty good in hot pot! The sauce bar could use some more frequent cleaning but they had a lot of Chinese style sauces. The shrimp paste in the bag is also very good but gets messy when squishing into the hot pot. Eat some grass jelly or white fungus at the end to "cool" down. Lots of parking in the parking lot. Came with a group of 6 to celebrate our friend's birthday. Had dinner first and then rented a private karaoke room. It was one of the most FUN nights we've had together - full stop. The food was fantastic, prices very reasonable, but the vibes are what sold me. We can be a loud bunch (admittedly) with laughter and jokes flying. However the staff was consistently kind, lighthearted, and attentive. Multiple people served us and all joked around with the group! But the price has also increased it come to about $38 a person for both hot pot and KBBQ. The food overall is actually good but the service has gotten worse. I was auto gratuity 18%. The servers did really bare minimum work, which is normally fine but this time it was really bad. We had to ask for a spoon for the hot pot twice maybe because they forgot. And they never refilled waters. The experience was ruined also because the breaker kept tripping for the burner, so the burners turned off. When we hear this happened three times and it took about five minutes for them to simply flip it back on. Five minutes each time. I'm not kidding, I timed it. A lot of the food got cold by then. They don't really come back for a "second round" until after a long time. The worst part of the experience was after they brought out the check the lady stood by my pointing where to sign. I know where to sign. She wanted us out and stated others are waiting. Rude. She waited by me until I signed before she left. Really rude, even for an Asian place where I expect lower customer service. I would probably avoid this place overall from now on. Since the service is below bare and they include the tip. read more

Small and very characteristic place. Unlike other Hot Pots that I usually go to where the portions rotate on a conveyor belt and you choose what you want (and I prefer) in this one they have a menu where you choose most of the portions and they bring it to the table and only a few other options are available at the buffet. This is an all you can eat spot. The space is very spacious. And easy to find parking The service was fine. I went with my 1 year old niece and we did the bbq. I regret that decision because she barely ate and as charged the adult rate. Just know the cut off for kid fees is 10 yrs old or younger. I really enjoyed the miso broth with the noodles. I loved the dumplings and they had crabs that you can add to the broth. Soooo yummy and flavorful. I want to go back just for the noodles Unfortunately I did not like the BBQ. This was our first hot pot ever and it did not disappoint. We really didn't know how things went but we had help from the neighboring table which I greatly appreciated. The waiter was very nice and patient with us and even made us a garlic sauce which was delicious. So basically you cook everything on the grill or your hot pot but you have to season it. The steak was delicious but the short rib had a funny taste to it so we didn't eat it. I love the many options you get and it's unlimited. They also had the fresh veggies and noodles alongside the food bar. Like I said this was our first time and trust and believe we did not leave hungry. They had karaoke in the next room which is my ultimate favorite even thou I didn't have time to indulge. I have been wanting to try a hot pot for many years. A friend and I wandered into this location as a neighboring restaurant we originally planned to go to was closed on Mondays. We arrived early and the place was already getting busy. It was full before we left. The price for the all you can eat hot pot or BBQ is $29.95 . You can enjoy both for an additional $6. We needed help understanding the menu and the cooking process. You start with a choice of broth which is heated on your table and choose from many different meat, fish and vegetable options as well as different noodles. Many options were unfamiliar and very authentic. When the pot boils, you put in the items you chose and cook for s few minutes. They provide a strainer spoon to scoop out all the cooked deliciousness. I chose the mushroom broth and added beef, noodles, corn, mushrooms and some green vegis. It was good! They also have a bar filled with sauces, spices and relishes, edamame, seaweed salad and kimchee and a large cooler with fresh vegetables, eggs and other items not listed on the menu. For dessert there is a variety of fruit and ice cream. Everything came out promptly. we went a day after mother's day and they gave us some snow(?) crab. The meat was super sweet. The only bad thing I have to say is We went 30 min after they opened but they ran out of blue crab. I really wanted to love this place. My family is a huge fan of Korean BBQ. Having recently moved down from New York, we had high expectations. In my opinion.. there are 2 big issues with this place. We were a party of 4- 2 adults, 2 kids (11&15) One out of 4 wanted hot pot instead of Korean bbq. In order for that one person to have hot pot, we all needed to order the BBQ AND added hot pot for $6 per person- $39 each person total . Even though one had no bbq and 3 had no hot pot. The second issue is the parchment paper on the grill. I understand wanting to keep the grills clean, but with the parchment paper, there was no char on our meat- which we love. It was also hard to tell if the meat was done.. the paper was ripping and we were literally pulling pieces of paper out of our meat. There were a lot of small, yet annoying things throughout the meal. I would love to go back.. but don't want to have to pay for food we're not eating.. my husband refuses to return. On a positive note.. The service was fantastic. One person more helpful than the next. Everyone was super nice. read more

We were about to leave when they suddenly "found" a table--felt sketchy, but we stayed. The service was awful. Our waitress tossed the menus at us, slammed her hands on the table while waiting for us to order, and barely checked in. We had to serve ourselves--getting up for water refills because no one bothered. The manager was just as bad, treating one of the only competent servers like a dog. It was obvious the staff was overworked and didn't care, probably because of the forced 18% gratuity. For $37.99 per person, we paid to deal with rude service, mediocre food, and doing the staff's job. Never again. Overpriced, unprofessional, and you leave smelling awful. We ordered the hot pot and bbq for 4 people. My younger son liked the hot pot a lot. My wife enjoyed the bbq but not the hot pot. My older son and I agreed that the food was ok but not worth repeating. For me, The bbq food never really gets cooked through, which is how I like meat, especially beef. Ok but staff seemingly disappears after first order of meats. Even hitting call button doesn't bring anyone sometimes so you are constantly having to watch for someone to flag down. Why do they even have call buttons then? Ordered pineapple no less than 5 times -- they kept not bringing because they were "cutting" it in the back. Finally got the pineapple and it was one circular piece cut in half for 2 people. Really? They charge 18% for gratuity but we didn't get good service.
