I recently drove by what was formerly Railroad Cafe and realized that it had changed into Brick cafe. Being a fan of railroad cafe, I decided to try out the place to see what the place has to offer. When I walked in, the first thing I noticed was the design of the interior. It provided a setting that is comfortable as well as aesthetically pleasing with a contemporary twist. I ordered a California omelet and hash browns with some coffee and it was delicious. Period. The hash browns were cooked perfectly until golden brown and the California omelet was a mix of fresh vegetables cooked and wrapped in a warm fluffy blanket of eggs. Everything that I was served felt like complete comfort food and my overall experience was more than satisfactory. Not to mention the waiters and the owner seemed to care a lot about the customers. I would recommend Brick Cafe to my friends and everyone and planning on coming back very soon. read more

Very nice atmosphere. Friendly staff. Air conditioning kept up with the record heat today. I had a California scramble, it was nice, the eggs were discolored from the liquid ingredients so one star off. Helps to drain the liquids to keep eggs yellow rather than muddy gray. My husband had a BLAT he liked it but the bacon was Very crisp, a bit more than he liked, and he likes it crisp. Bottom line we were pleased to give them a try, we will come back. But we will keep looking for standout dishes. I think we will find them. read more

This place is adorable, patrons are super friendly and the food is good! Unfortunately, they are so understaffed you could feel the stress of the staff. It took about an hour and a half to get our food and when the waiter brought it he says "finally right?!?" No water refills, no checking in...and took another 20 minutes to get the bill after we asked for it. Everyone is running around like crazy, but nobody is checking on the customers. Also, the front door is broken/stuck and customers are just walking away because they can't figure out how to open it. read more

The two star is for the customer service. It was descent. The food was not good. I got the chicken and waffles and their chicken was previously frozen(waiter confirmed chicken is frozen not fresh) chicken tenders. Definitely was not fresh and didn't taste fresh. I'll stick with "Mama Weber's" in Manteca for chicken an waffles. My finance did not get the toast that came with his scramble and his food also had very little flavor. Well... what can I say except disappointing. You order a grilled tuna melt and it comes on soggy Un-grilled bread...a dry lump of tuna in the middle, no cheese or tomato. It's a tuna melt ? You send it back and it comes grilled (dry) this time, but everything else is the same. Plus a 1.59 up charge for what? To grill bread instead of keeping it soft, minus all the toppings? I'm sure other items are better, but for $14.00, it's a crime. Nope never again. read more

Horrible service. Came as a group. Didn't get a menu for 20 minutes, took an additional 40 for food to arrive. Spilled beverages on us. Some orders were wrong, old fruit, burnt bacon. Our 4 year old son was starving by the time food arrived. There were a few plates that our party had that were good (hence the 2 stars). Food was good. Service was a bit lacking. We got our food quickly, however we never received our toast. I also didn't see the waiter to ask for butter for my pancakes. Coffee was not refilled. They finally did come around to ask if we wanted coffee however we were done eating. After our plates were cleared we sat and waited for the check for quite awhile. The food is really good! I love their corned beef hash! I retracted one star only for my last visit (and partially for my second visit). My last visit my party of 7 waited a long time for the large table at which only 2 people were sitting. The other time I was uncomfortable watching the, maybe, manager (an Asian woman) yelling at one of the servers or bus boys for making the coffee "too strong". Sorry but I do not want to watch the people making and serving the food arguing. I didn't like how she was treating the young man. read more

Had breakfast here 4 or 5 times now. I go early in the morning so never had a wait and the service is generally prompt. Coffee is above average and the food I've had is above average too. Solid choice for breakfast and the best I've found so far in Livermore. I'll definitely be back. read more

Had a bad experience here on a Friday morning. Our server (think it said Landon on the receipt) was unorganized and honestly needs more training. He had a larger party to attend to so that meant my bf and I were forgotten completely. He took our order, someone else brought it out, and that was it from Landon! Never got a refill on my coffee or water or the Mayo on the side my bf requested. He kept coming out of the kitchen looking lost and then rushing back in, I couldn't flag him down for the life of me. Food was lackluster. Bf got a club which had brown avocados on it. I got hashbrowns which were tasteless and mushy. We were so disappointed! We had to request our check from another server and then another employee took our card. After waiting 20 minutes we miraculously caught Landon rushing by our table and asked for our card back. He said "oh you didn't get it back?". No hence why we are asking going for it! Another 5 minutes passes, assuming he was frantically searching for our credit card. Bright, nicely decorated and friendly customer service is my first impression of this place. When I opened the menu I was so excited cuz everything looks good to me..(I really spent around 15 min for struggling about what to choose.. Hahaha) and the waiter keeps checking on us with extremely good attitude (patient, friendly, willing to help) Finally we got southern scramble (with egg, biscuits, sausage, gravy and potatoes) and combo pancake(with better, syrup, bacon and egg) Before the food was served, I thought that might not be enough for 2 people breakfast. Then later my concern was gone. The food is in a really big portion! I like the gravy of the scramble, and the egg is soft. The potato was well seasoned but a little bit cold. Pancake was nice and the bacon was crunchy. While we were eating, the waiter kept checking on us to see if we needed any help. It's a nice place to have a big breakfast! read more

Three of us went to 833 Brick Cafe for breakfast. Was seated almost immediately and our drink order was taken. Only one of us got our drink order correct. We then order our meal. We waited for over a half hour and still no meal and people that had come in after us had started receiving their meals. We then asked the wait staff what the hold up was and they said they would check into it. We were told it would be right out...10 minutes later still no meal. I had been waiting for weeks for this restaurant to open. I love the decor! The menu is long and disappointing. I was looking for the famous monte Cristo or crepes from Railroad! I was truly hoping they would have hired some of the chefs from Railroad and kept some of the favorites. I ordered the crab Benedict. I don't like wasting good and ordered that as the description stated. I said no potatoes as I cant eat them. It came with spinach woven in the crab, sitting on tomato with avocado -- none of which was in the description. I had to send it back as I can't eat spinach avocado or tomato! My daughter in law ordered the BLAT -- it came with NO avocado! They definitely have kinks to work out! I am still hopeful - I will be back but not for awhile! read more

This place is a great addition to the neighborhood and has really good food. However, I've been here twice for brunch on the weekend, and they are totally unprepared for the crowd. Dirty dishes not being bussed, long wait for food, customers waiting for things like ketchup (and no one ever returning to the table to check in), as well as a stressed out staff who is so busy that they don't have time to do their job or to be friendly. Note to owners and management: if you had more servers, you could attend to customers more efficiently, be nicer, and turn tables more quickly. In doing so, you would make more money and have a better reputation in the community. Just sayin. read more

Like the place. Been here 3 times in the last two days. Two breakfast and one lunch. The breakfast cook needs to be taught how to cook over easy eggs and English muffins. Both breakfasts the eggs were over cooked and English muffin was burnt. I was surprised that the second morning after telling the waitress about the egg issue they still came out over cooked and the English muffin was burnt black. Still like the place and waitress is nice but will look for a different breakfast place. Also the tea selection does not have plain black tea. That really surprised me. I just moved back into Livermore and around the corner from Brick Café. My wife and I have tried pretty much every place in Livermore for breakfast (not that many) and this one takes the cake. I didn't try whatever was here before but the new owners are very friendly. I thought the food was great and the service was even better. Walked in about 830am and was promptly greeted and sat. I'm surprised by the negative reviews about this restaurant! My husband and I had breakfast for the first time today and it was wonderful! Service was great, food was really good, value was good and serving sizes were a great size. We had a wonderful experience and are so glad they came to Livermore. We will definitely go there again! Disclaimer: I never ate at the old Brick Cafe, so I cannot compare. However I doubt the old cafe had the combination of classic and very interesting, adventurous offering. I had a delicious Caprese Omelette and a tasty fruit salad. Food was outstanding, service friendly and efficient. Next time I will try the Oriental sandwich? Or the Greek scramble? 0r... ? I had a veggie omelet and requested the peppers to be fully cooked well done. The server said it's already pre-made and made a note of the request. The veggies were all crunchy including the mushrooms . Very skimpy on the cheese and no avocado. Apparently they were all out and didn't mention it when I ordered nor did they make any deductions to the bill. Not what I asked for. English muffin was NOT even toasted at all. We decided to leave and go back to The Riata. We really wanted to have another breakfast option. But we will probably not go back to the Brick Cafe. read more
