Service only: in the last year, 83RV has lost a large number of their service technicians and service manager. Prior to this unfortunate set of events they were top notch. Now communication and service is unreliable and terrible. On three separate occasions in 2025 I made appointments for service on my Coachman Galleria, only to learn they 1) forgot the appointments were reserved 2) kept the van for over three weeks without even looking at it, nor communicating with me the challenges they faced. In one case they made some repairs to the awning motor/ sensor which kept opening on its own. Less than a month later we find the problem has returned and they 1) still don't know what is broken/wrong 2) proposed charging me $600 a second time - even though the first solution didn't solve the problem. I can understand why service manager Brett, seems overwhelmed. But he simply does not communicate and provides flippant answers that are unconvincing or not fact based. Until they improve staffing, I recommend you stay clear of the service department. read more

My wife and I went here after a terrible experience at a major camping RV chain. We spoke with Bob and he showed us 5 different models after going through each model a couple of times we went back to his office and starting talking pricing. Bob was very easy to talk with and truly cared about our questions . He answered all of our questions with. A smile on his face which help us feel more confident and comfortable picking out the unit we purchased. We agreed on a time and a date to pick up our new trailer and went through a 3 hour orientation with a another person who was also very nice and answer all of questions with a smile on his face I like to think that we have have made a friend with Bob at 83RV . I would highly recommend stopping buy to look at what they have available, knowing that they will treat you politely and not push anything to you , you do not want or need. read more

My husband and I were excited to rent our first RV for a 12 day long trip. After all was said and done, there were more and more fees added up and after the trip, and we paid nearly $5,000 for an RV that lacked in cleanliness, there were several things that were loose and in poor repair, including one of the windows that was so rattly we could hardly hear anything while we were driving. The air conditioning unit never really cooled the RV down, unless the RV was in motion. The door screen was held together with some sort of heavy duty tape. For the amount of money we paid, we were hoping for a much better experience, especially since the RV we chose was advertised as new, and the RV we were given was definitely not new. It was nearly 3 years old, and had a loose kitchen faucet, cushions that kept sliding off of the dining seats, no cupholders, among other issues. When we asked the owner, if he would help compensate after the trip for some of these things, he said he would give us some sort of benefit the next time that we rented. That's not the right answer... I believe he should've stood by his product and service and made things right with us. read more

I rented a camper from these folks. We had a small dent in one of the tin panels. I had an estimate from my father in law who is in the body shop business and he gave me an estimate of $580. These people gauged me for $2900. Terrible company, camper's AC didn't work they are criminals I strongly advise against using these people. They exploited the situation. read more

The place was sketchy from my first interaction and I should have gone with my gut. At time of purchase I didn't get out of the garage with the unit until I spent an additional several hundred dollars - including for a battery we asked several times if it was needed and was told it wasn't. Well, power jack (awnings, etc) requires a battery which was now an additional cost on the purchase of the unit. They required us to purchase a lock, and a new hitch (stating the one we had "wasn't the right kind"). Due to a medical issue, they did take the unit under consignment. The unit was purchased in March, I was able to title/plate in May, and they had the unit back the same week it was titled/plated. When I dropped the unit off, I was told to keep the second set of keys, and leave the new plates on and trailer lock "just in case the unit doesn't sell." With no communication, I stated I was picking the unit up on July 13. At that point they told me it sold June 24. They then charged my credit card on file for the difference without any paperwork showing me that the unit was paid off. End of June I made the July payment not knowing the unit had sold so that was another couple hundred in their pocket. I asked that my plates and lock be returned, and I sent in the keys. I was told their policy is to destroy any plates and locks left on units. Therefore I am also out the cost of new trailer plates and a new trailer lock I was forced to buy before I left with the unit. Absolutely a horrific experience. read more

Reached out regarding a potential rental for a trip from Thursday to Sunday. After inquiring about the 2pm pickup and 11am drop-off time(outrageous timeframe), I was told, "We are flexible." Once the details have been sorted out and the quote was sent there were two additional days added on to our trip costing an additional $800. They would not budge on the price or times. We rented a brand new, 2022 RV to drive down to Florida and were so excited! About 5 hours away, the RV broke down, losing power steering and brakes. We called Eddie and he walked us through the process of checking the pump, securing a mechanic, and talking to the dealership. After a diagnosis of a new pump needed, with no parts available, Gerald drove us a brand new RV... 5 hours away! My famiily rented a new, 31' Coachman Freelander from 83 RV this Summer. What we thought would be a carefree, first-time experience was great, until we reached our first campsite. We found that the dealer had provided a blackwater hose that was; 1. too short and 2. missing a bracket for the sewer recepticle. We made due by having one of my kids step on the hose during draining! Next, the grey water tank would not completely drain, leaving us hauling around a 1/2 full tank of dirty dish and sink water for 2-3K miles until our last stop, when the tank finally released its lode. Upon return to the dealer (Brett Novak) didn't offer any renumeration, nor apology for the malfunctioning or short hose. Instead, I received the old-school, "yea, that happens with new RV's sometimes". They would have been rated at 3 stars at that point. Nonplussed, I was ready to close out our account when he advised that there was a $300 cleaning fee. That's a head scratcher when I was told by the salesman who checked the RV out with us on pick up day that all we had to do was, "wash all the bugs off the cab section". I spend an hour doing so before returning the unit. After protesting, he charged us $125 for the misunderstanding. Two stars. I called them to see if they found my wife's CD in the cab. They did, and I asked if he would mail it too us. He advised that we should come up and get it. Oh, I see, I just spend over FOUR GRAND with your firm, and you don't want to pop a CD into the mail?!!! One star. If you need to rent an RV, shop around. Unless you like to be treated like you're at a Chevy Dealership in the '80s. read more

This is the place I'd recommend for an RV rental. We just got back from a 11 day adventure out west to Yellowstone and other spots, over 3200 miles. Gerald and the staff were excellent to deal with. They take you through the RV so you know how to operate it. Pay attention and take a note and it's very easy to set up and operate. We rented the 34' bunkhouse and it was excellent for our family of 4. I'd say 6 would be the max in that unit since some of the beds are a bit short for full sized adults. It's got a lot of room and plenty of outside storage. Driving a big RV takes some getting used to and you get better each day. Don't be in a hurry, take your time. And with the big 80 gallon tank we went up to 500 miles between full ups, averaging 8 MPG in he whole trip. The more planning you put into it the better your trip will be. Make a list in advance and bring what you'd normally need in your everyday life. The unit worked beautifully the entire time. They only rent newer units with lower mileage, and that gives you the best chance of no issues. Our friends rented an old unit to save some money and had nothing but problems all week. Gerald was available for 2 questions we had along the way, and overall it was everything we imagined and a lot more. We would highly recommend 83RV and will rent from them again! read more

Bottom line: the RV was great, but the interaction with 83RV staff was disturbing. We rented an RV for a long weekend in order to decide if we might want to take a long road trip. The RV was in excellent condition and the procedures for pickup and return were convenient. Our family had a great weekend and enjoyed the RV experience. A day after returning the RV, 83RV called and indicated that they were going to charge us more than $3000 for a scratch in the paint on the side of the vehicle. We returned to 83RV to inspect. It turns out that the "paint scratch" was a line of dirt which could be removed with a rag. The staff had not bothered to closely inspect before issuing a bill for more than $3000. The interaction was unpleasant and in the end, we settled for ~$600 to replace the sticker on the side of the RV. Form the experience, we concluded that at best, their inspection practices are incomplete and they overcharge customers. At worst, this ploy was intentional and they are unethical. I strongly recommend avoiding business here. read more

Rental turned robbery! Rented a 27' Coachman Freelander class C from 83RV for a 10 day trip to NY for my sons baseball tourney. Up front all looked great with the fair daily rental rate and extra mileage fees. Then when you go to pick up the "selling" begins. Better buy windshield insurance! those things break all the time and cost $400-$500 each! Insurance cost = $77.00 RV Damage Insurance, covers from roof to floor and everything inside. Does not cover the exterior or the awing. Cost = $137.50 Better have us clean this when you return because if it doesn't look like it rolled off the assembly line then you pay penalty cleaning fees. Pre-pay cleaning cost = $125.00 Then consider they do not include ANY generator time. Most places give 2 or 3 hours per day. Their cost, $3/hr or $20 unlimited per day. Now, remember when I said the insurance doesn't cover anything on the outside? Well the awning "costs" $3000 if damaged. Flat rate, no questions about it. Doesn't matter if you purchased the insurance or not as thats not covered. Yes, i damaged the awning and had thought it was covered with my $1000 deductible. Nope, i was wrong. They rang my credit card up for another $2000. Oh, and the actual awning costs retail about $1000 based on an online search of national dealers. Complete sham and they purposely take advantage of families looking to experience the world of RV'ing. read more

We rented a large Thor motorhome for a three day weekend to drive to the Mississippi Palasades State Park. The motorhome home ran well and was very clean. The electric and water was easy to power on and use. The shower was small but the water was hot and the bed surprisingly was very comfortable. Our first motorhome experience overall was great. I purchased an RV at 2017 Chicago RV show and 83 RV staff were very professional and helpful. I had to travel and they waited till I was ready to make the purchase. This was my first RV and sales team was extremely transparent about all aspects and helped me throughout the process. The RV I purchased had a minor issue with the installed TV, I brought my RV for de-winterization and when I pointed the issue the qualified technician replaced the TV. During my first RV trip I noticed that the outlet for black and grey water got knocked off, I made an emergency call and they provided helpful instructions, luckily I did not need to use bathroom and kitchen much therefore I could wait and got the RV in for repair. RV Maintenance team was able to contact the RV dealer and since seemed to be a design issue they covered the repair expenses and also made a deft design change so that this issue doesn't repeat. Bob from RV83 provided his personal cell phone number for any issues and I guess this reflects the good quality sales experience and support they provide. Throughout all interactions I could feel that the 83RV team has a strong desire and willingness to support its sales customers and ensure that they are satisfied and return for future purchases. Overall I'll recommend that if you are planning to buy from 83RV then what you hear is what you will get and should look forward to buying from them. read more

83RV has been my go-to RV rental place for years. Their service has consistently been top notch and they are very accommodating. For example, I when I noticed the standard hose was not going to be long enough to reach the connection available at my camping location - I voiced my concerns and they quickly gave me an additional hose to take for the trip! And one year I accidentally left some clothes behind when I returned the RV. I realized this after I got home and called to ask about the items - they immediately checked the RV and let me know right away they found the items. They mailed them to me (per my request) and I got everything back. We always enjoy working with Eddie in rentals - he remembers returning customers and treats them like family. Short version: If you rent from this business you will find yourself uninsured and overcharged as their insurance is basically a scam and will cover nothing that matters to you. 83RV is trying to charge us $16k for a small scratch on the side, they are claiming that the insurance which they sold us does not cover that... Details: On 8/24/2020, our family (My wife, two daughters and I) rented a Class A Coachmen Pursuit 34BH at 83 R.V., Inc. Unfortunately, the rental service was inadequate and the terms were misleading because the business refused to honor the terms of the contract which put our family in a dangerous, unpredictable and unsafe situation. I am disappointed for the following reasons: 1- The term of the contract and especially the insurance coverage were not disclosed clearly and were misrepresented to us by 83 RV on the day of the rental mentioned above. 2- 83RV sold us insurance, then denied us coverage when we needed it. We had to make a gas stop the following day, it was raining and the side view cameras were somehow foggy, while pulling out of the gas station, the rear left side of the RV hit one of the protective yellow bollard posts near the gas pump, which resulted in a scratch on the rear driver side and the detachment of the corresponding section of back wall of the RV, inside the RV, we could see an opening in the rear large enough for a child to go through. As it was explained to us, we have payed for roadside assistance anywhere in the US, and that the extra insurance we have purchased through 83RV had liability, comprehensive and collision. At 83RV's office, we were asked if our own car insurance covered RVs, and we clearly answered no because we have verified that, we were then told that purchasing the extra insurance will cover us during our trip with the understanding that there was a deductible and so we did purchase the renters insurance offered by the business. To our surprise, when we called 83RV and sent them pictures of the accident damage, they asked us to file a police report, then they refused to provide us with the insurance information, they have also denied our coverage altogether. They claim that there is a clause in their contract that makes them not responsible for this kind of accident, which is simply false. We have inquired about that clause when we were about to sign the contract in their office, the clause states that their insurance won't cover any damage that is above the roof or bellow the floor, and it was explained to us that it only means that they won't cover damage caused by driving the RV in a rough terrain where it is not supposed to be driven, which made sense. However, in our case, the damage from the accident is clearly to the side (we have photo evidence and a police report to support that), and we were driving on a national highway then exited to a gas station. All we got from talking to 83RV was that we had to bring the vehicle one day prior to the end of our vacation, and that if we decide to bring it back immediately, we won't get refunded for the remaining days. 3- 83RV refused to take any steps to assist us on the road and/or to assist fix the damage to the vehicle, they simply asked us to either keep driving the vehicle as is, bring it back or somehow fix it ourselves, we were 800 miles away at that point and not close to any major city or town where we can find help, we barely had voice coverage on our phones. That situation was dangerous on many levels, the RV was hazardous to drive in that state with kids on board, we had no way of fixing such damage manually without professional help. Have we been told that if the RV breaks down we had to fix it ourselves, we would have refused to take this trip. After almost one full day of confusion, trying different things, and wasting a lot of money and effort, we finally were able to patch things up and decided to go our destination since it was closer and safer at that point. 4- The RV that we rented was not as advertised, many essential features to a road trip were not working and or missing, like the side awning, the auto balancing etc. Without awning, the outside is useless. And without auto balancing it is quite an ordeal since this model has pull outs from only one side. Besides that, the Coachmen 34BH is a very nice RV though, except for the front which is cheap and plastic-y ford basic model type of material similar to a U-Haul. the worst part is that when the engine runs for more than 30mn, the floor under the driver seat and the passenger seat next to it becomes super hot, like as hot as a you can barely touch it, which makes the front very uncomfortable in summer and requires running the AC on high all the time... Maybe these guys were OK in the past, but everything changes, and as it stands now, I highly recommend looking somewhere else if you want to have a nice vacation. read more

Every year I go to Bonnaroo and I have rented from Cruise America in Knoxville TN, General RV in Grand Rapids MI, and now from 83RV in Mundelein, IL. 83rv was the best rental thus far. I had read reviews on here that were very negative, so like others I was a bit nervous. I started planning my trip in Jan with Mark and he bent over backwards from start to finish. The rate was exceptional, and the accomadations with early pick up and early drop off were perfect excellent. They went above and beyond with mileage, generator, and cleaning fees. The unit was huge (Class C with two slide outs) and only had a few thousand miles on it ( 2014). I could go on and on but to keep it brief I would highly recommend this company and I will be back again for any trip. Oh and I got a refund of over $360 so these people who lost their deposit clearly did not take care of the unit and handle things correctly. read more

My husband and I met a salesperson for 83 RV at a local RV show. We put a deposit down on our dream RV- we were told it was a Ford V10 engine. When we arrived at 83RV a few days later to pick up our new RV, my husband (luckily) popped the hood to check on the engine. Much to our surprise the engine was a V8, not the V10 we paid for. This was the beginning of the "used car salesman tactics" used by Bret and his employees. We were then told that we could order the RV with the V10 engine- that's when the nickel and diming began. Bret tried to up-charge us for the V10 which is the engine we thought we were buying at the RV show- an it stated V10 on the contract. Still, we did order the unit. A few days later, Bret called again stating the interior color we chose was also an "up grade" and would cost more money. After a few more up-charges we had enough-my husband called the RV manufacturer rep and found out that the interior color was in fact not an up grade and neither were some of the other features that Bret wanted to charge us extra money for. This was just money that Bret was going to charge us to line his pockets!! Needless to say- we cancelled our order immediately. Bret of course insisted that the RV was already in production and it was impossible to cancel the order- we spoke to the rep again and he told us he had not even received the order from Bret. Bret was not going to give us our deposit back even though he had not even placed the order according to the RV rep. Luckily we put the deposit on a credit card and disputed the charge with them- they refunded the charge. We feel luck to have escaped the clutches of this unethical used car salesman. read more

I would advise against buying an RV at 83 RV. Although the Sales department is great, follow on service sucks. We had an incident with our Thor Class C RV and the service guy was totally rude to my wife on the phone and said the repair would be "a month" siting "its only two of us" when 94 RV will fix it in a week. This is probably a $5000 insurance job. We are considering trading up and it wont be with 83 RV. Drive it off the lot and you are screwed! Last summer we wanted a few small things fixed and were told basically to forget about it. Beware! read more

We just returned from our first ever RV trip. We took all seven of our children on a 13 day adventure in the 32' Bunkhouse. There was plenty of storage space and sleeping space for us all. We were given personal cell #'s to be in touch should issues arise. While we did encounter some problems they did not ruin our trip and 83RV was very understanding. We could have been held responsible for 100% of the RV damages, but 83RV was compassionate regarding the circumstances and generously worked out a more than fair bill. We highly recommend 83RV and should opportunity come to take another trip for our family we will be returning. read more

We had to cancel a camping trip due to the state park closure (COVID restrictions in Wisconsin) and they claimed we had to use the credit from the $500 deposit by the end of the calendar year. I attempted to contact them in November to reserve a rental RV for next spring or to get the deposit refunded and the rental manager said we would have to speak with his boss and that he would get back to me. He never did. I called an additional four times between Thanksgiving and the end of the year, leaving messages each time and never received a response. read more

I received a good price on an RV in very good condition. Furthermore, I had a small problem with the refrigerator recently that I couldn't fix myself. We recently rented a Coachman Clipper pop-up camper for our family vacation to Door County this year. As a long-time camper, but first time Pop-up user I was a little nervous about towing and setting up the camper. Not only were they patient with all of my questions, they gave their personal phone numbers in case of an issue (which we actually did end up using because of a broken crank gear when we first tried to pop it up) and explained everything in detail which was not as overwhelming as I expected. The only reason we didn't give it 5 stars was because we had the issue popping it up when we first got it, and had to take it back to have it worked on. When you fall in love with a motorhome you saw online and the price is a bargain, before you sit down and run numbers, please ask them 1. How much is dealer prep and 2. destination charge (if new). Everything started good when reserving this 30 foot Coachman. Upon picking up the unit, we were not given much instruction on how to operate different systems in the RV...Just the basics. We had rented the unit for 2 weeks to go out west, so our first night in a RV park, we hooked everything up and the water was overflowing out of the tank, we discovered the next morning we had the water hooked up to the tank rather than the interior plumbing, sounds dumb but if you don't know.....Also after hooking up the cable, we found that the TV would not get any reception, the cable evidently was improperly installed in the RV, the DVD player worked fine....Would have been nice to know as we would've brought many more DVD's. Next issue, while traveling, the toilet seal was not properly sealing causing the entire RV to smell like a dirty diaper...Not pleasant! Now comes the most frustrating part. When returning the RV, Bret did a quick walk through and said there were a few items that needed addressed. We admitted that we scratched the decal on the door while opening one of the storage units, Bret said "oh, that's no big deal, don't worry about it", also the passenger side mirror was cracked...we noticed while driving away from the rental place that it was cracked, we wrongly assumed that they noted it on the initial rental check off....Wrong! Bret said that they would finish the inspection and contact us. After 10 days we contacted them to inquire about our deposit. We then got an email saying that we owed them $760 in "extras"! They kept the $557 deposit and were going to charge our credit card for the $260 balance! Breakdown of extras: 1 outside mirror $300 1 decal $203 1 hour to instal mirror $80 1 hour to install decal $80 1 hour to "buff" decal $80 1 misc charge of $17.45 propane (legit) Also, we negotiated 34 hours of free generator usage, used 3/4 of an hour and was charged a full hour $3 ( good thing we didn't used the 34 "free" hours or we would have been charged $102! When my wife called to inquire bout the extra charges, Bret said that the labor was charged at 1 hour for each item, even if it only took 5 minutes to do...1 hour minimum rate charged for anything at all. After considerable debate, Bret was "gracious" enough to remove the additional charge of $260 and settled to keep the more than $500 deposit for what amounted to nothing!!! A major rip off...I would caution anyone using this company for an RV rental. If you choose too, take a video record of all negotiations, and go through the RV with a fine tooth comb....and video recorder. Buyer beware read more

This was our first ever RV trip and turned out to be a disaster. We reserved a Class C Motorhome (Coachman Freelander) for a weekend. We were told that the RV would be ready to be picked up by 2 PM. We arrived at 2:15 PM and found that the RV is still being cleaned. Waited for over 30 minutes for that to happen. Next Mark comes out and tells us that the radio is not working. So figuring we were not going to listen to songs on a cd and not the radio we did not think much about it. The front passenger side AC Vent had a part missing and as per Mark these are small things with RVs. To be on a safer side we also bought extra insurance from them at $12.50 a day with a $1000 deductible. The insurance we bought did not cover the top, the bottom and windshield. Now starts the fun part. Per Mark we were supposed to pay the deductible up front before taking the RV out and this is how its done everywhere but nowhere mentioned in the documents we signed. We had already put down a security deposit of $500. We were asked to pay another $500 so that the deductible is also covered. We did that and were already feeling the 'warmth' and 'helpfulness' of 83 RV. On the trip we found that the whole audio system is not working contrary to what we were told. We come back from the trip and return the RV before time (10:30 AM). Mark does a quick walk through and says everything is fine and charges us for the extra mileage, the generator and the propane use which was fair. We signed the final sheet mentioning the extra charges and we walk out with Mark telling us that he will send us the final bill in email with $797 refund. As we were leaving a service guy comes up to me and tells me there is damage to the RV. When we had checked before returning the RV we had not seen this and neither Mark nor any of his employees told us about when we initially returned the RV. Mark comes and takes a look and then tells us that the whole wheel ($399) needs to be replaced even when his employee tells us that the wheel bracket needs to be replaced. We tell Mark that this was not something that we did and that he had checked the vehicle and the only answer we get repeatedly is that "the vehicle was in your possession and you did it". We leave the office already with a bad taste and go back home. I receive a call at about noon from Mark that the upper compartments have moved up due to the wheel damage and that there is a chip on the windshield. I ask him to send me the images of the damage. The pictures were not very clear so we decide to drive back to the rental office and check the damage ourselves. As we enter the office Mark tells us that we cannot see the RV because there are people waiting to pick it up. Per Mark it has already been fixed. So from the time we were told about the damage to the RV and by the time we were back at the office it has been only about an hour and a half and things have been fixed. We ask Mark if we can see the RV and the answer is no. Now what kind of a company wants to charge you for the damage and not show you what and where the damage was ? Mark tells us that he is going to need to hold off the full $1000 in order to repair the damage. We ask him how can we be sure about the damage when we cannot see it. Mark keeps on repeating that the vehicle was in our possession and if we don't want to pay for the damage he is going to give it to the collection agency. At this point all of us are frustrated and we tell him that this seems like a rip off. Mark tells us that the actual damage is worth $5000 + several hours of labor and he is trying to help us out by passing it off as an insured damage. Wait! What? Did he not tell us that the bottom was not covered under insurance? I ask him how is that the damage is already fixed and the other folks have already picked up the RV and you are telling us that the damage is worth $5000 + several hours of labor. So in the end we did not get to see the damage that we supposedly did to the RV. All we got were some photos. Now I am not even sure if those photos except for the windshield photo belong to the RV we rented. After all the harassment we decide to settle it and are told by Mark that the only way we can settle it is by paying the full $1000 of which he already has $797. No matter how much we tried to reason with him he did not budge and kept warning us about collection agencies. You guys are complete rip offs and when you say you are a family owned rental service and treat your customers as family, we just do not want to be a part of that rotten family. We're long-time tent campers but decided on a longer trip out West this summer that required more of a "moving hotel room". We looked at a few different RV places before stopping into 83RV. From the start, Brett was professional yet friendly and happy to answer any and all questions we had (which numbered quite a few since we were new to the whole process). He showed us several different models, assured us his stock was new each season and well-cared for. We'd done some internet research ahead of time and not only did he seem familiar with some of the complaints we'd noticed, but was quick to answer some of the concerns those reviews raised for us. After a few days of thinking and more research, we called to ask a few more questions. Mark was able to bring up the notes Brett had made during our first meeting and answered some other concerns we raised. Interesting to us was the fact that he openly told us "go to any other RV company you want to rent from, even if it's not ours, but PLEASE, DON'T go to [a certain other well-advertised company]". That honesty was comforting; it felt as though he was looking out for us as people and not just potential customers or dollar signs. We returned to 83RV soon after and again dealt with Brett regarding the rental contract. We're pretty tough negotiators, but Brett was quite willing to work with us on several items (still protecting his product but interested in appeasing our concerns at the same time) and appeared to have the same thinking we did. His professionalism never wavered while at the same time he was friendly and understanding. There was some concern in the weeks leading up to our trip about what we needed to prepare ahead of time. Mark emailed us a list of necessities. We were a little concerned about the time we would be able to pick up the RV (we didn't want to start a 12-hr drive the first day after picking up the RV at 11am), so Mark worked with us to set the pickup time as 8am. When we arrived at 83RV about half an hour before that designated time, we found Mark, his wife, and another employee there, bright and smiling! Mark walked us through all the necessary steps involved in driving and using the rig (electrical, gas, generator, dump, etc., etc.). He was patient with our questions even when we repeated one or two steps back to him and made sure we understood everything. The necessary steps were also provided to us with our copy of the contract as well as the service number of the kind of vehicle we had should we run into any problems. Mark repeatedly offered us not only his personal cell phone as well as Brett's, but told us to please call with any questions at any time (he did joke that we should call Brett's cell phone should we feel the need to drunk dial!). Again, we felt just how truly interested he was with us as people and not just "customers, when he told us that he required we ENJOY the unit once we got settled wherever we were going. We were going on vacation, after all! The rig itself was a dream during the trip. All the "comforts of home" traveled with us along the way. We only had to stop for gas which meant the number of stops and length of stops we made were shortened immensely, so we were able to stay on track. The rig handled much like the minivan we own; we were even able to parallel park it at one point! We weren't quite sure what to expect when returning the RV, but that process was just as smooth as negotiating the contract and picking up the rig had been. Brett himself checked the mileage; we showed him some concerns we had about the microwave casing, which he told us was pretty normal. While Mark worked on some paperwork, we voiced alignment and windshield wiper issues we noted along the way, which Mark appreciated. He told us it would take their crew a few days to clean and go through the rig more thoroughly, but then we'd get an email with the final bill/refund of our initial deposit. True to their word, 3 days later we received an email with the final accounting and refund. An overall pleasure to work with Brett and Mark! Same story as many others. I filled the gas tank at the gas station next door and they claimed they needed to fill the tank. I was charged a ridiculous amount for gas and a fee for the technician to drive it over. When I challenged them and produced the receipt, Bret told me there was nothing he could do. Really Bret? We rented their 2014 Class A for a week. Nice rental coach. This is my second time renting an RV. The first time was through Camping World and it was a very clean rental experience. I was a bit nervous about renting from this group, especially after reading the above reviews, as they pretty much confirmed what I was feeling. We dealt with Mark and I made it clear that I had some reservations about doing this rental. It ended up being a positive experience for us and Mark went the extra mile to make sure we were happy. The rig was certainly nicer than the one Camping World offered and it didn't have RENTAL written all over it, lol. Would we rent from them again...yes! Horrible experience with 83 rv. We did have an accident with the rv that our insurence covered and mark knew insurance would cover it so theycharged us over $8,000 for repairs claiming 30 hours in labor in repairs when the repairs could be done in a half of a day. Full day at most. 83 rv is like a used car lot filled with used car salesman. Their service department man is a liar and part of their whole scheme to rip people off. We will never do business with them again. read more
