I specifically love how their drinks all compliment the breads, so getting them together is great. 85 always offers consistent quality which is what I can count on to get a clean tasting drink and delicious bread. My favorite breads would probably be the spicy sausage bread and the egg tart. Specifically, the boba milk tea is a very CLEAN, sharp taste compared to other boba tea shops, which makes it something I crave periodically. They usually aren't the best at having fresh boba pearls, but the last time I visited on June 24 at 12:20 pm the boba was AMAZING, and the boba milk tea was truly perfect. I love how I can always count on 85 for that consistent quality. Though they aren't stunningly unique, their breads and drinks are always something that will never let me down. 85 cafe is going down the drain. I used to go weekly to get their bread and coffee, and the most recent visit a month ago, will be my last one. First of all, their item shrunk by 75% and the price went up, for example their taro swirl used to be pretty large, the last one I had was like mini sized. I've been to several of their locations and this is easily the best one I've visited. If you've been to an 85 before you know that they always have a long line. While this location is no exception, they have fast service. There is always someone at each register and they quickly get you through the line. If you ordered something that needs to be prepared, you won't have to wait long. The staff is helpful and friendly. They actively clear the trash and tables, so it's super clean! The quality control at this place is just horrible. It's been going down for a while and this was the last straw for me. I just saw a guy scoop boba from this plastic 85 Degrees togo bag. I felt uncomfortable about it and stayed around looking at the bag and one of the workers came up to me asking me what is wrong. An asian employee said he normally puts the boba into a plastic bag from its original metal container, during closing, so he can clean the metal container and go home earlier. His logic is that they put it into a plastic bag, and throw it away at the end of the day in order to save time. And that other line managers have advised him to do the same. I use to work at a boba shop when I was in college, and that boba slime is time consuming to wash, but you just need to soak it in hot water for a bit and come back to it. You never put food in a non food grade bag and have by products slushing around in your boba and saturating it. Let alone, sell it and serve it. When I asked him not to do it, his response was if it would make me feel better if he put the boba BACK into a metal container and served it from there. But the boba has already soaked up all the byproduct... he does not understand the situation is not resolved by putting the trash bag boba back into a container. When I asked him if he would like to be served food from a plastic bag like that.. he hesitated and said probably not and understood that it looks very bad from that perspective. He stated he is not sure if it's not in the SOP. I don't know what standard of procedure would allow or instruct you to put food into a plastic bag and serve it to customers. He kept asking me what he could do to resolve the situation when he just made it worse by stating he would put it back into a container, thinking that would alleviate the issue. I asked for a refund for the two boba drinks and he immediately turns around and talks to his friend saying he's tried so hard to resolve the situation and I didn't comply. And his friend just muttered something about leaving it alone. I spoke to the supervisor because only the supervisor was able to give me the refund and when I told him, he called out to "Eric/Erik" and told him not to do that in the front in the future. I am not confident they won't do this again. They just kept apologizing to me. But that is not the problem. They are serving customers this way and do not see why it is wrong. So people, just know they will probably do this again, but probably in the back so you don't see it and say something. Makes me wonder what the FDA would say if they say what I saw and what other unacceptable practices this location promotes and cuts corners on to 'save time to leave work early...' as Eric/Erik had so blatantly stated. Everyone there is at fault. Eric/Erik for doing it and not questioning it like lemming, the guy he worked with in the same shift, the cashier who sees it and said nothing and the supervisor that gave me the refund and didn't say he was shocked or concerned about the matter, but just told the guy quietly not to do it out there. I am never going to this location again and I hope you all consider what else they are doing in the back when you don't see it. read more

I was very excited about an 85C opening nearby! This is the closest one so far. Offering pastries, baked goods and drinks. The selection unfortunately is a bit smaller, but its close so that is a plus. It may have had around the same amount of options in the pastry selection. You grab a tray, a paper to hold the pastries, and tongs. Grab what you want and they bag it for you, or even box it if you request it or buy a lot of pastries. The cold selection was a tad smaller than other locations. The drinks did not seem to have as much variety either. I got my husband a strawberry lemonade and a cinnamon twist. He loved both. I got myself a sea cream jasmine green tea and a choco bun pastry. I was disappointed in both. Maybe I am biased since I live very close by so it's convenient, but the store is always clean, organized , and stocked up with your fav pastries . Staff is friendly and everything is always consistent here! Consistency is key!! If you've never been to any of their locations you definitely need to try some of the amazing bread they have here!! MATCHA..... MORE LIKE NAWTCHA I went to 85 today and got the new strawberry matcha. I love their coffee and it is very good quality, on the other hand their matcha is not. Even Starbucks is better than this and I don't consider Starbucks good quality. I don't suggest getting this drink and either save the drive or take a longer drive to a Starbucks and get a matcha drink there instead. Or your favorite coffee or matcha shop. I came here on New Year's Eve to buy a birthday cake for my Mom. I tried going to the Buena Park location, but it was crazy crowded and I couldn't even park there!!! Decided to come in here, I like the fact that it's less crowded. Plenty of parking & pastries!!! I ended up using my points to purchase my favorite cake: the tiramisu cake. The sea salt iced coffee is my favorite drink. They have delicious pastries. My favorite (and a must-try) is the potato cheese pastry, but they are all very good. One thing, they need to offer a frequent customer program for those loyal customers (which includes myself). I dont like that they do not accept call-in orders. I usually prefer this when I am in a hurry however they dont take phone orders and their establishment sometimes gets busy. The wait can be a bit lengthy. So beware.
