My mom ordered a sea salt coffee this morning, and it was not busy at all, i understand that there is only 1 staff working at the front, My mom's order was only 1 sea salt coffee and 1 bread. The one after her has multiple orders with cake. She waited 10 mins just to get her coffee while the customers after her were all getting their orders. I dnt know if the order was forgotten, but my mom didnt say anything waited since the staff was alone and my mom tried to be understanding, when she finally got her coffee after the other customers were done, she brought up her concern with the staff and without even listening for what she has to say, she immediately said "u want to speak to the manager?" and walked to the next customer. I stopped by this 85C Bakery after taking my Microsoft Azure certification test across the street. I had a party to go afterwards so I figured I would get some cake. I parked at the parking structure on Artsakh because you get 90 minutes free. When I walked into the store, they had all the cakes on display and some bakery stuff out. I saw that they had a computer where you can order drinks only and also a separate line for drinks order. This organization really helps speed things along in the store especially since it's not that big inside. I went with the Strawberry Deluxe cake and the Mango Creme Brulee cake. They don't have any happy birthday label sign here so be aware but they'll give you candles. I didn't have to wait long for the worker to bring out the cakes. Been disappointed with their baked goods lately. They discontinued the espresso bun months ago and what replaced it is a filled coffee bun, not intriguing. Numerous items are now filled with something instead of just the dough itself. Also I love the salted froth but just wish it would be offered in a smaller version for the hot drinks. Another great 85C experience here in Glendale with some friendly competition with Porto's down the street. We have the Spanish pastries at one and Asian pastries at the other! This place isn't too big but also not as small as say the Valencia location. But one downside I see from many locations is the lack of seating. They could definitely fit some more tables and benches here and maybe even some outdoor tables and chairs or share them with the restaurant next door. It sucks to see a bunch of kids - and adults - taking up space just sitting on their phones. Anywho, we looked around and picked up a few items, some different than what we normally order. While looking around though, I saw an older female worker, who had just finished stocking one of the shelves and had a question about a cake in the display. She seemed instantly annoyed and sighed before glancing at me and answering my question. Seriously, what is your problem? I did not jump at you, I did not yell or demand an answer, I was just curious what was in the cake! Luckily the cashier was much friendlier but it still hit my review down by a star! So in total we picked up a chocolate pearl, guava puff pastry, chocolate chunk cookie, hot americano and hot vanilla latte. Both drinks were hot and tasty, not too sweet. As were the pastries. The cookie is always so thick and fluffy and chewy, I love them! The guava pastry was flaky, crispy, and full of guava. As for the chocolate pearl, this wasn't bad but it was my least favorite. It's basically a thin chocolate cake topped with chocolate mousse and covered in chocolate. It's light, fluffy, and not too sweet but still just not a big deal with flavor. read more

I had been coming to 85 degrees in Pasadena long before they opened their Glendale location near Americana. This branch is a welcome respite to me as it is closer to where I live. I don't mind that it's smaller and choices are fewer. As long as I get my favorites with a cup o coffee, I feel fine. I always come here on Mondays when they have 85 cents coffee which is such an awesome deal. I usually get two iced coffee for myself because why not, really. Pretty much all members of the staff are made up of young kids. Some are friendly, some are snooty. I don't really care as long as they get my caffeine right, properly bag my bread choices without getting squashed, charge me the correct prices, and hand me the correct change, I'll be fine. read more

Worst Experience ever, never had issues with this bakery until now. I just came to the store to buy some bread, but these employees takes forever to get ready in the morning... The location in my opinion is always terrible with parking so I wanted to buy and go out the door quickly before getting myself into a parking ticket.... Very refreshing and nice infusion of grapefruit without being overwhelming. I'm loving the trend of real fresh fruit with the teas. They also had a half sugar option, which was great! This is probably my least favorite 85 location. We look at the cake display and they have only 1 type of cake for the size we were looking for. We ask a lady who worked there if they had other cakes if that was the only one they have or if they have anything in the back. She told us she doesn't know that we have to wait in line to ask the cashier. We wait in line. Yup, that's the only kind of cake they had. So we just buy it because we have no other choice. We ask for candles since it's a birthday cake. Wow, they tell us they ran out and have no more. In addition to purchasing the cake, we ordered the zebra milk tea. It was served warm with only a couple ice cubes. No problem, we'll just ask for a cup of ice to pour ourselves to make it cold.We asked the employee if we can get a cup of ice. He tells us the zebra milk tea is supposed to come warm. Hmm. Unless the drink is served hot. I don't think milk teas are supposed to be served warm. I was okay with pouring the cup of ice myself to adjust my drink. But I'm disappointed that he would say it's supposed to be served warm rather than just being able to give a cup of ice. read more

Holy smokes.... the only place that comes close to competing with Portos in the pastry dept. It's conveniently located just a block or 2 away too! lol. I love the entire concept of self service, instead of having to point to items in a glass case for the worker to grab it for you. The process starts with grabbing tongs and a tray near the door, then the fun begins. Prices of the items are listed in front of each item so you know how much you'll be spending. I was in hurry during my last visit, so next time i'll take my time. I was overly excited as I had just finished my morning workout. I grabbed 2 Coconut Twists, 1 Taro Danish, 1 Spicy Sausage, and also got a large Ice Sea Salt Coffee. Everything here is pretty amazing and delicious. My personal favorite was the Spicy Sausage. Although it may look heavy, it didn't taste or feel too bad. Loved it! The staff are friendly here. After my items were individually bagged and placed in a box I waited a few minutes for my Ice Coffee. I will definitely be coming here more often. OH yes...$.85 ice coffees on Mondays!!! This new info made my week!!! YEA! As someone who cares about the environment, I'd like to know why all of the pastries must be individually bagged in PLASTIC WRAP before being placed in another PLASTIC BAG/BOX. T.O. / Simi doesn't have this kind of bakery, so it's a newer concept to me. We went for a stroll last Wednesday evening after dinner nearby, and came upon 85 Degrees. Dear Hubby wanted to check it out, and we discovered a bustling business, mostly populated with young people. Display cases line the walls, filled with freshly baked breads, pastries, rolls, sweet loaves, brioches, and much more. There are varieties I've never seen before, several of which we brought home and enjoyed. Cold cases of refrigerated cakes, puddings, and other delicate confections take center stage close to the registers. We found it to be lit to highlight the abundant goods, and quite clean. So many choices - how to narrow it down? The procedure entails grabbing a tray and a pair of tongs, self-selecting the baked breads or pastries you wish, then hitting the line to pay. There's a separate line for beverages only. We presented the chocolate chip brioche (!) and sweet bread loaf we'd chosen to the cashier and requested two slices of cake. She wrapped them each in a quickly-assembled individual paper container for safe transport. Grand total - $10.20. Score! Easy to see why the 20-somethings like 85 Degrees. We more seasoned-somethings like it, too! I saved my slice of Black Forest cake until lunch the next day. Extraordinarily moist, with a great taste balance of chocolate and cherries. Neither overwhelmed the other, rather complimented beautifully. I barely recall the frosting, as its fluffiness was just the right accent, not an overly sweet distraction. So if you compare this place to Porto's which is right down the street, it is much more expensive. The pastries from 85 degree cost significantly more, but they are quite good. I enjoyed the variety of pastries that I purchased for a coworkers birthday and I also tried their Salted Caramel coffee for each of us. The coffee actually took them a bit of time to make, but it was really good. You can ask for the sweetness level that you want, and I did like that quite a bit. When I was checking out, I saw that they have a rewards app you can get on your phone. I downloaded it, but since it was taking a while I chose to just keep my receipt and then input the points later. Tip to the wise - On the app there are a bunch of coupons that you can use for discounted or free stuff. I would suggest downloading it before you go in! read more
