I enjoyed the variety of pastries that I purchased for a coworkers birthday and I also tried their Salted Caramel coffee for each of us. The coffee actually took them a bit of time to make, but it was really good. You can ask for the sweetness level that you want, and I did like that quite a bit. When I was checking out, I saw that they have a rewards app you can get on your phone. I downloaded it, but since it was taking a while I chose to just keep my receipt and then input the points later. Tip to the wise - On the app there are a bunch of coupons that you can use for discounted or free stuff. I would suggest downloading it before you go in! read more

Finally 85 Degrees has opened on Brand Blvd. Located at the the corner of Brand & Wilson. I like that it's open late (until midnight on weekends). Street parking is a little hard to find so it takes some luck scoring one nearby. Otherwise there are pay lots you can find parking at. I like the baked goods and the serve yourself, pay at the counter style. Grab your tray and your tongs... Off you go. I like the taro buns, the egg tarts, the hot dog bun, the ham & cheese bun and everything else that has taro. Very good. Not too sweet and always baked fresh. For drinks I like the sea salt jasmine green tea or the sea salt caramel green tea... both with lychee jelly. Very tasty. Those drinks are winners for sure. There are separate lines for purely drink orders and ones for baked goods & whatever else you're pairing the items on your tray with. There are very few seating options here. That's definitely a downside. There are a few tables and some high stools by the window. That's about it. Could definitely use more as this bakery gets a lot of customers throughout the day. We didnt originally plan on coming to 85C Bakery but since it was next to the Halal Guys we couldnt resist picking up a few treats to take home. This location just recently had their grand opening a few weeks ago. It is half the size of the Pasadena location so it would seem to look more crowded. They have the same items as the Pasadena location but this location tend to stock their bins more frequently. I did not find one bin that was empty. Maybe we just came at the right time. We usually get our usual items such as the Chessy Bread, Taro Swirl, Egg Tart and anything that catches our eye. We are always willing to try new things when it comes to desserts. I'm looking forward to the day when they open up the Valencia location. I will longer have to drive to the Glendale or Pasadena location to get my fix. read more

Visited 3/25/2017 We were craving for something to eat, and I noticed this place was now open, so we went to check it out. It's not as big as the one in Pasadena, but it's doable. Parking is either meter or there's a garage nearby which is free for at least a hour. Seating area isn't as large as the one in Pasadena, but it's doable. The selection of treats also isn't as large as the one in Pasadena, but it's passable. I prefer the one in Pasadena, but since I live closer to Glendale, I will more than likely stick with this place. Several different types of pastries to try some of which are a little to weird sounding for me like the tuna danish, but for those of you who are brave, I would definitely recommend giving it a try. We tried the matcha red bean roll at the Pasadena location, so we skipped it this time, but I would highly recommend it if you are a matcha/red bean type of fan. They started being open this whole week I think, even though their official grand opening is on March 10. Came in today, got a lil bit of everything. Taro marble bread, milk pudding bread and several others. Brioche was plain, shouldn't have gotten that. I really enjoyed the Calamari Stick (squid ink based bread) the most. I liked the pudding & cream cheese ones too. Also got some fancy lookin' cake slices. That taro macaron (or white chocolate? I swear I tasted a hint of taro lol) atop the Taro Snow cake was really good! It was super taro-y, but too bad it was only 1 piece. Didn't care for the cake itself haha. Strawberry Tiramisu was OK. But the best cake outta the 3 I tried, was the Mango Delight! Only a few tables with chairs, so it's more of a grab and go place. Prices are decent for the goods. But overall, there are some tasty and more mediocre ones. Next time, I wanna try their drinks (ie. sea salt, matcha & milk tea). First of all, they do not tell you that their hot teas come sweetened, and no indication of that on the menu. Apparently, you need to tell them if you want your tea unsweetened. This happens most of the time I go in to this location. I come in. People are busy. Several customers are waiting for an order or GrubHub is picking up too many orders. I stand at the counter, being the first one in line. Someone stands in line behind me. A worker is getting drinks. Doesn't look up to see she has customers. 2 people go in the kitchen. Another comes from the bread area and goes into the kitchen. I am still standing there. Not 1 employee looks up to say "we'll be with you shortly" to acknowledge our existence. Finally, someone walks in front of me again, without acknowledgement. I say "excuse me" nothing. I repeat it. Nothing. I repeat it and this time ask for the manager. The man says "I'm the manager." I say "all we want as customers is to be acknowledged that you will be with us shortly." He says "I did not see you." I commiserate s I had forgotten that I am invisible. Again, show some humanity and customer service. If not, the company can just make it a kiosk where people input their order and a machine spits it out. read more
