This place is on the upper tier of Chinese choices in the area. I always get the steamed chicken with mixed vegetables. It is always hot and flavorful along with your choice of 4 sauces on the side. They also have a decent frequent customer rewards program. It is also very clean. Tried 88 china tonight on a recommendation from a friend. The prices are on par with every other Chinese restaurant and the service was quick and friendly. I had a take out order and all the food was correct and the establishment was clean. The food was okay. We ordered crab Rangoon, hot and sour soup, shrimp fried rice, pork fried rice, an egg roll and hot braised chicken. The good: the hot and sour soup was good. I would gladly order it again. I appreciate the serving sizes offered. The fried rice (both pork and shrimp) were good. The egg roll was quite good as well. The okay: the crab Rangoon. They weren't bad but definitely not the best I've had. I'll stick with the egg rolls as they are much better. The not so good: the hot braised chicken. I don't want to call it bad but it wasn't very good. One piece was just plain over cooked and bad. The rest was fine but the sauce was kind of bland and they seemed over breaded. Overall I'm happy with the experience and will most definitely go back to try other offerings, just not the hot braised chicken. Would recommend. read more

Well apon entering they were all eating dinner . I felt like I was intruding on a family meal . I asked for wonton soup and want to know if I could get extra wonton . Apparently this is too hard a question as the man at the desk looked at the ceiling saying,"Ah Ah Ah aah ," and then said that he didn't know how to do that .. done this at 20 plus different restaurants across America and Canada never had a problem . We have been looking for a new Chinese restaurant for almost 2 years. I read the reviews and they were dead on. The chicken with garlic sauce could only of been better if the carrots were cooked a little more. My husband with the General Sao's chicken said it was the best he has had. Crab Rangoon, excellent. We have had delivery for MANY years from 88 China. Recently we have noticed the prices going up and the service going DOWN. We ordered today. The delivery driver couldn't bother to turn his car stereo down. So the entire time we were dealing with him we had to talk over the bass, pounding from his car. He didn't have a cube or way to collect our fee. He had the gall to ask us to call the restaurant, for him, so they could process our credit card. Our food was less than stellar. Ordered extra pancakes and probably glad we didn't get them. The ones We received were VERY dry and cracking, making them useless. The food is no longer worth dealing with them, with the lack of ensuring the orders are correct. Been having orders missing components. They have lost a loyal customer. read more

Super disappointed when my friend ordered take out and they ran the charge and never delivered food. When called, they said the third party delivery driver 88 used never showed up. They said they would take their number and get back with them and never did. When they called again, 88 ignored the call and then blocked my friend's number. They never made it right. We normally order from another restaurant that is closed on Monday. So we thought we would try this place out. Food was flavorless, next to our normally place. Very disappointed and dissatisfied with the service and quality of the food since new owners took over a couple of months ago. The fried shrimp was way over fried with a tiny dried out shrimp in the middle (looked like it was refried from the day before). The Crab Rangoon had an aftertaste that didn't appeal to me. Then to make matters worse, I had been saving the Gift Vouchers to get a free entree for 10 vouchers for all of 2018. I had 7 red vouchers from the previous owner and 3 yellow from the new owner. The new owners would only give a 30% discount on the red vouchers even though the expiration date is December 31, 2018. Won't be ordering from 88 China anymore! read more

Really hard to order over the phone. It took 4 tries to get my card to work, the last time the manager did it. Then they went to my old address when I told them my new one. Me and my family used to go to another local Chinese restaurant, but 88 has become our favorite. They speak good English and can understand customers easily. They also have a voucher system to where when you purchase orders you get vouchers that you can later redeem for free food. Their prices are relatively average, and the food is always up to par with my expectations. read more

This is my go-to Chinese food here. My favorite thing about this place are the vouchers. Every time you order food (delivery, take out, dine in) you'll get a voucher that you can redeem for free food. Their lunch/combos and their menu prices are awesome. The only thing I will say is that if you're ordering for delivery it usually takes up to an hour to get it (if you're hangry, not a good idea to get delivery.. Trust me I've been there). If you pick it up, it's 15 mins. If you like spicy food, I recommend their "Hot & Spicy Chicken/Pork/Shrimp/ or Beef".... its delicious! It makes me so sad to update this review, but we gave them 4-5 chances before changing my glowing review. First, sometime in the last year, the food quality started to go down hill. Fried rice sometimes comes flavorless or other times tasting over cooked or burnt. Second, we've been ordering from the for years. At first, they used to always toss in soy sauce packets, hot mustard packets and more. About 6 months ago we had to start requesting it and if we forgot we'd end up with 30 packets of sweet and sour sauce and NOTHING else. NOW they charge .05 for soy sauce and .10 for mustard. We moved a couple of weeks ago about five minutes away from where we used to live, so we can still get them delivered. A week ago we ordered to the new place for the first time. The food literally had NO flavor. It was so bad that we put it away until the next day so we could pick up some soy sauce since they brought literally none. Since flavorless food isn't always the norm we tried again tonight. While the food tasted better tonight, I also PAID for 15 packets of soy sauce and got 7 and paid for 5 packets of Hot Mustard and got 4. And a bunch of sweet and sour packets which I never ask for and always get a ridiculous abundance of. The delivery charge keeps going up and that just started about 7 or 8 months ago. It used to be roughly about $25 plus tip to enjoy delivery and now tonight for 2 boxes of chicken fried rice (with mostly fatty chicken that was difficult to chew) 1 box of special fried rice and crab Rangoon, I paid $36. That's insane and I didn't even get the extra packets I ordered which I realize are cheap but it's seriously the principal. It's just not worth it to us anymore and now since we moved we are closer to some other places we will be trying instead. I just can't keep ordering from a place that seems to get progressively worse instead of better. And to end my updated review on a good note, I am giving them two stars because honestly they are all very nice and super friendly so I will miss that. read more

New to the area so I used Yelp to find good Chinese in St. Charles. First 2 times at 88 China were good but the third time was a bust. I put in an online order at 5:30 for pickup at 7. Traffic was light so I got there at 6:45. When I asked for my order she handed it to me from the table of packed orders - first sign of a bad order. When I got to my hotel (2 miles away) I found that the egg rolls and shrimp were slightly warm and soggy, The rice was maybe room temperature and the soup needed reheating in the microwave. This is the best Chinese Food in St. Charles. We are from The Bay Area of California, where you can get the best Chinese food in pretty much all of America. This is just like the best NorCal Chinese restaurants. The food is delicious and the online ordering is great. The only thing I could think of that they could work on is the spices. I took a visit to 88 China today for lunch dine in, for my first time in. Was very impressed with the speed in which they filled my order and brought it to me. I loved broccoli chicken and steam rice. I was told the orange chicken was good as well. The environment, the people are nice and authentic and much more than going to a place I like Panda Express. I only have a short time for lunch so this place suit my needs. Priced good, speedy service, people are nice and food is delicious .......I understand that they do deliveries within a 5 mile radius. Very good food! Never had a long wait but I have only ordered carryout so I can't speak for delivery. They have a wonderful rewards voucher program where you collect vouchers from each order to redeem for free items on next orders. As far as their online ordering, it is the best online restaurant ordering system I have ever used (apart pizza places). The online ordering system is very detailed and works perfectly every time that I have used it. I highly recommend ordering online. First time ordering from them. The best part of the meal was the steamed dumplings, they do them better than any other delivery joint we have found. The worst part was anything we ordered that was fried (egg rolls, chicken wings, fried shrimp and won tons). It had that month old oil taste to it, and was over cooked. Tried this place for the 1st time and was very impressed. Not only was the food good, the restaurant was extremely clean and kept up well, not like most other Chinese restaurants. They seem to have a wide variety so if you like trying new things, they should have you covered. The quality of the food was also very good. Their Egg Rolls were among the best I have ever tried.
