Back again here for an all around very good meal. Service is always friendly and unrushed, no one constantly asking you "How is everything?" or annoying questions. Menu is wide and varied. I'd take it down just a half star or less as I'm not fond of the way they do pork here. Spring rolls-5*. Brussel sprouts with fried egg-5*. We had a pork with noodles, and the pork is cooked to hell and back-yes, some of the pieces are tasty and crispy, but others are way too fatty. I think they use pork belly for any dish that calls for pork, and it doesn't always work right. Other than that, the shrimp with herbs and chili sauce-absolutely a delight. Pad Thai, excellent. Duck curry with rice, delicious all around. They didn't have mangoes (claimed they were not in season, though I just had some great mangoes last week), probably just an excuse because they didn't have them in for sticky rice with mango, so we went with the Roti instead which is always good. I made a simple OpenTable reservation for this place. It is a small place next to Rodeo Drive. The parking here can be tough but I came at 6:30pm on Sunday so street parkings are free and there were plenty. We ordered many dishes to try and the group of 3 were all full at the end. Each of us paid around $47. Papaya Salad 5/5 I have no complaints about this dish. The papaya is crunchy. Sauce has tangy kick. Chicharron 5/5 has an amazing tangy, sour sauce. It goes well with the pork belly. The pork belly is juice, crispy on the skin and not chewy or tough Crab fried rice 5/5 is my favorite. The fire-roasted, wok flavor is outstanding. Egg is soft and moist, melting in my mouth. Pad thai 5/5- tofu is crispy. Pad thai sauce is sweet and sour. Noodle is al dente, satisfactorily chewy. Khao soi 5/5 has tender ribeye beef. Noodle is also chewy. The coconut soup is creamy and rich without feeling too heavy. Overall I enjoy all my food. The flavors and textures were in ooinI wish the service was more attentive. La Ong is so far the best Thai food I've had in LA other than the spots in little Thai town or Hollywood area. The outside is pretty unassuming that I missed it first time getting there. But the exterior is very elegantly decorated with that southeastern Asian exotic flavor. Crab fried rice, shrimp appetizer and branzino curry are all 10/10 delicious. The crab meat is gently stir fried with eggs. The texture of two ingredients perfectly complements each other. Silky, light and airy but highly satisfying. Shrimp is sautéed with egg yolk. Very rich and bold flavor. I find myself constantly going between the crab fried rice and shrimp, unstoppable! Big fan of the branzino too. The moisture fillet fuses the rich curry. The sweetness blossoms in my mouth! It's still looking at more than 50 pp, but very reasonable at Beverly Hills. And La Ong's take on Thai food is also not easily found elsewhere (even in Thai town) as it's more creative and bold. Highly recommended! read more

But there are a few items, on that particular day, were just below the acceptable level. For examples, chicharron has a distinctive off-flavor associated with pork when the skins are not cleaned properly. We couldn't even finish after one bite. The sea bass in tom yum soup was clearly not fresh, emitting a noticeable off-flavor. Chicken wings are flavorful but the skins are fried too hard to bite easily. This place opened a few years ago next to my office and my coworkers & I frequently order take out from here. Its moniker is derived after the chef's grandma and the dishes are based on her recipes. Everything is prepared with ingredients that are imported from Thailand or locally sourced. In the past I've had the Mee Krob, Brussels Sprouts, & Papaya Salad, which were all tasty. A recent order we shared consisted of Tom Yum Rice and Stir Fried Broccoli. With an infusion of Thai basil, Kaffir leaves, chili, & lime, the Tom Yum Rice was an interesting dish. This is our go to spot for Thai food in Beverly Hills! Every time we arrive the host and hostess are always friendly and quick to seat us wherever we like. There's both seating in the restaurant or on the patio. You will be close to other people if you do sit on the patio, so if you are planning to have a private conversation it won't be TOO private. The place is very clean and has a nice little set up to it. There's even a little bar seating area you can sit at and order a thai ice tea while waiting for your order. They are pretty quick to take your order and the food comes out in a decent amount of time. I usually order the Sea Bass Southern Thai Curry Plate if I'm not that hungry or the Beef with Ginger Rice Plate with an iced black lychee tea or Thai ice tea depending on my mood. I can't even explain how good everything here is. You honestly can't go wrong with whatever you order and you will be satisfied. Trust ya boy! Anyway, it can get a little packed around lunch time but you shouldn't have any issues getting a seat. If you're in the area and in the mood for Thai, hit this place up. Oh, they separate checks too! Came here with reservations and was seated with little to no wait. The customer service here was great, the workers were nice and attentive. The food on the other hand was honestly nothing special. The papaya salad was lacking in zest and spice, it just tasted like peanuts and it was bland. The holy basil noodles was nothing we expected, the noodles were fried to the point where we thought they were chips. If you're looking for a noodle dish this is not it. The tom kha was good but the portion was tiny for its cost. I've definitely had better Thai food at a cheaper place, however I came because I wanted to treat my friend to a more upscale thai restaurant. The major flaw of this place was the insufferable scent of grease inside. I'm not sure if the vents weren't working or what was up, but the fumes of oil and grease were so strong. When I tell you that this food took us through a journey!! From our appetizers to our dessert! Let's start with how great the quality of food you get for the price which super hard to find in Beverly Hills. I'm sure famous people come in here all the time because it's just such a cute spot with greenery and beautiful interior design and different wall textures that capture the eye. There's also a nice painting of the restaurant owner's grandmother on the wall as this was dedicated to the woman that taught her to cook. I'm so happy my bestie took me here. The service was wonderful, our waiter knew we order lots of food and we had a small table so he added another table to make sure we were comfortable and we didn't even have to ask. They were on top of their service! The chicken wings were perfectly crispy and wonderfully glazed, the Thai tea was so good, the Pad See Ew had an amazing smokiness to it, and the Yellow Curry noodles were delectable! You can tell that so much love and intent was put into each plate that was created. I won't be able to stop dreaming about the food. I will absolutely be back with more friends and family. I was excited to try this place based off of a recommendation from a good friend! We came as soon as they opened and were quickly seated. The inside vibe is good (i wish there were some more of the traditional elements in the decor as i could see in the food presentation). Thai tea (10/10) -- very yummy no complaints Thai Wings -- best thing we had no complaints. The wings were even good the next day. Khao Soi (7.5/10) -- it was really yummy when it was piping hot, but I wish I got more of the beef flavor (it might've been overdone). Pad See Ew (9/10) -- so so so yummyyyy i was so happyyyyy I would say the food here is great, we loved that the waiter was honest about the mango not being the best for the mango sticky rice that day but still wish it was there :,). This was the worst service experience. During the entire meal, the staff completely ignored the customers. My friend took a pair of chopsticks from the bar by herself, and a staff member scolded her in a very rude and demeaning manner, as if talking to a dog, telling her that she should never take anything herself anywhere and must call a server instead. My friend politely apologized, but the staff member continued to lecture her three or four more times. I stepped in to stop the staff member's behavior, but she argued with me instead. I told her that she should not speak to my friend that way, and she even questioned me, asking, "What's wrong with that?" When I pointed out that she had repeated herself more than three times, she denied it. The staff failed to provide proper service by ignoring customers during the meal, yet blamed the customer when we had to help ourselves. What kind of service attitude is this? read more
