    Somtum Thai "Green Papaya Salad"

Such a cute restaurant! I'm very picky when it comes to thai food because I'm Thai. Everything was pretty authentic here. The only underwhelming dish was the papaya salad which was kinda bland. Pork jowl was super delicious and the dipping sauce was amazing. The tom kha soup was hugeeeee and super balanced and delicious. The server was super attentive in the beginning and then went to chat with some customers lol Would definitely come back to try other dishes!

Really cute spot with delicious Thai food! The sour sausages are so good. Shrimp Tom Yum was pretty good too though I wish there was more shrimp... or at least a bigger portion for more protein. Crispy Pork Pad Thai is very good too! Fantastic service! The staff is so friendly and so so helpful.

Lovely very authentic and affordable Thai place that has all. Fresh ingredients that pack a punch. Reminds me of the food I ate when I went to Thailand, so it's very authentic and not American-ized. Also love the decor of the place.

This place is one of the best Thai places we've had in LA. Apart from some spots in Thai Town, this place is one of the best. The papaya salad is packed with flavor and spicy, every single one of their meats are tender, and well flavored. The khao soi has incredible flavor, but it does become redundant after a while. Overall, this was an incredible meal.

Very authentic and beautiful place. Love the whole vibe upon entrance with all the Thailand objects decorating the walls and floor. Got the rice with green beans and chili. I love the spice level and portion for the price. I felt like I was in Thailand! Very friendly service and attentive to water refill needs.

Every dish landed, and the entire meal felt thoughtfully executed from the first bite to the last. Started with their house chili oil, bold, aromatic, and layered with real depth. Not just "spicy," but flavorful, the kind of chili oil you want to drizzle on literally everything. The stir-fried greens with chicken were a standout. The veggies had that perfect crisp snap, and the chicken was tender with just the right amount of char. The sauce was light but savory, coating everything without overpowering the freshness. Then the pad see ew... wow. Smoky wok hei, soft wide noodles, generous pieces of chicken, and veggies that still had life in them. Comfort food elevated, exactly what you want from a good Thai noodle dish. Even the water service was a moment , chilled carafe with slices of fruit, refreshing and aesthetic. It's the little touches that make a place memorable. Although slow at times, Service was warm, and the entire dining room had a relaxed, intimate vibe. Would absolutely return and recommend

Ordered off the lunch set menu. Panang curry and potstickers . Comes with rice. It was pretty slow at 1pm on a Wednesday. It is a hot day, and mid week do not shocked. To go orders came and went. Staff is nice. Found the pot stickers underwhelming and a bit greasy. Wonder if there is a steamed option? 3 pieces. One was not filled. Just an empty shell. Assume it came out in the fryer . Zero customers other than me. Not much attention to detail, the sauce was tasty . The panang curry was chicken , curry soup and a couple of lime leaves. Mild, which is fine. Very fishy. No peanut flavor I could find. Wished for some vegetables. Carrots or peppers, or something? Overall , a cheap meal, filling. Wont be craving it. Perfectly fine place.

There aren't very many great dining options near the Grove but Chao Krung stands out as a diamond in the rough. The food here is authentic and delicious. I have tried so many things here but my favorite items here are the papaya salad, pad see ew, crispy tofu, and oxtail massaman curry but you really can't go wrong here. They do a great job with wok-fired noodle dishes, comforting curries, and offer a selection of more northern Thai dishes like grilled chicken. Minus 1 star because service can be slow at times and the food was oddly salty our most recent visit. I always recommend making a reservation here, as it can get busy. Parking is limited to street parking or parking at the Grove.

Such a cute charming Thai spot. It's my go-to Thai spot outside of Thai town. I recommend the chicken wings, the tom yum soup, the papaya salad, pad thai, and my favorite pad see ew. Their housemade chili sauce is also divine! Friendly staff and service.

This was hands down one of the best dining experiences I've had in a long time. From the moment we walked in, the service was exceptional, our two servers were so kind, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. The ambiance felt warm and cozy, like stepping into someone's beautiful home. Everything was spotless and thoughtfully set up. Now the food... absolutely top tier. Every bite was packed with flavor, and the prices were more than fair for the quality. I loved it so much, I was just there last night, and I'm already planning to come back tonight with friends. I will be recommending this place to everyone I know. Truly an unforgettable experience.

Wow was this place good. I have had a pretty poor record when it comes to picking Thai options. So much so the family usually will pivot to some thing else If I recommend one Chao Krung meet all of our expectations. Even what could have been a serious service issue was handled with such professionalism and ease that I had to stick with 5 stars. I will explain. We were eating a bit after lunch so street parking was available right in front. Service was attentive and polite. They have a decent selection of draft beer and it was served properly in a chilled glass. The Food: Pot Stickers: part of the lunch these 3 fried pot stickers were perfection. The crunchy chewy wrapper gave saw to a savory filling and the sauce added a nice sweet salty hit to it. Green Papaya Salad: Perfectly executed. Not only was is it visually appealing, the taste was among the best I have had. Crunchy, a touch of sweet and sour with the sauce adding so much unami. The tomatoes were perfect and added a acidic element to things Green Beans: Excellent. blistered and served with a tasty sauce. crunchy but cooked and covered with toasted onion, I could have eaten just this. Chicken Satay: 4 skewers of grilled, flavorful chicken with a thick peanut sauce for dipping. The pickled cucumbers and onions were a perfect side and added a sweet, salty, savory, crunchy element to the dish. Pad Thai: This was for the table. and having ordered way too much and wanting to max out on eating the green beans I did not taste this. However, the table was about 1/3 through when we found a hair. The hostess immediately came over, apologized and set about making it right. The dish was taken off and a replacement was fired for us to take to go since we were almost done. Stuff happens that is often out of the control of a restaurant. However, they do control how they respond. In this case the service recovery was excellent and I was happy to stick to 5 stars with ease

    Kristine K.

TLDR: The food is good, but don't expect timely service, proper seating, or great customer treatment. This place has exceptional food; while the portions are on the smaller side, they are satisfying, and you won't have any complaints when it comes to taste or flavor. The food is well-prepared, but the experience was marred by other factors. The service, unfortunately, left a lot to be desired. Despite the restaurant being far from busy -- there were only three or four other tables occupied -- the wait time was excessively long. It took so long for our food to arrive, and we weren't even in a rush. The appetizer came out after about an hour, even though we had asked for all the food to be served at the same time. This left us sharing the appetizer, which was meant to be my meal, because the rest of the food was delayed. After finishing the appetizer, we waited another 30 minutes for soup, and then an additional 20 minutes for one entree. What made it more frustrating was watching other tables, who arrived after us, get their food before us. I didn't make a fuss about it, as that's just not my style, but it was definitely an observation that stood out. Although the food itself was lovely, the strange pacing completely disrupted our ability to enjoy the meal. Another issue we encountered was with seating. We arrived as a party of two and were asked to sit at the bar, despite several open booths and two-person tables being available. When we requested a booth or a more appropriate table, we were told there were none available. Instead, we were seated at the edge of a long table meant for large parties (there was a large party at that table already). Throughout our entire meal, several booths and tables remained open and unoccupied, which was confusing. This made it difficult to communicate with each other due to the table's size and the restaurant's noise level. The staff, in general, felt standoffish for the setting. It wasn't the warm, welcoming atmosphere I expected. The décor and ambiance were great, and I can see why the restaurant is considered a local landmark, but the overall service and treatment was disappointing. In summary, while the food and atmosphere were good, the service and seating issues made for an unpleasant dining experience. I hope this review is helpful in shedding light on some areas that could be improved.

Food here is pretty great and a chill setup overall. Service is pretty quick too and I was here with some friends. Love this and fairly priced too. Also, you gotta get the peanut curry sauce. It's THE best!

About a century ago it was a studio for silent film star Charlie Chaplin and later a library for Sherman, which was the name of West Hollywood before it was incorporated. So this is a beautiful and historic location with a fascinating history, V Wine Room serves about 30 different wines by the glass and a large selection by the bottle, mostly small California wineries from the Napa Valley. The menu also features sparkling wines, natural wines and sakes from small Japanese producers. They have food to accompany the drinks as well: delicious Roman-style pizzas, cheese boards and charcuterie, fish and even chocolate. I've always managed to find free parking on side streets just up the street like on West Knoll for a couple hours, but there's also valet parking right in front and a city parking lot about a block west

I didn't make it here until March 2026 and after my first visit, I'm sorry I didn't come earlier. My husband and I came here on a Sunday night, with a last minute reservation I'd made on Resy. The restaurant wasn't very busy when we came in around 5:30ish. A lot of the tables were empty. They had both indoor and outdoor dining available, but the majority of the seats were indoor. The ambiance here is dark and chic, it reminded me very much of restaurants in NYC. It would make for a good spot for a date night or girls' night out. We made it here in time to order one thing from their happy hour menu, the tater tots. These were heavy but moreish, it was hard to stop eating them even when my stomach was telling me I was full. We also shared the corn, which I believe may have been a special/seasonal dish. It will go down as one of the best corn dishes I've ever eaten in a restaurant. After a while, I was getting way too hungry, so we sat at the bar and ordered an appetizer and drinks while waiting. I first ordered the Garlic Shrimp and asked if it was spicy. I was told it was, so I asked if they could make it without the spice because I can't eat spicy food. He said he would check with the kitchen, but since I was starving and it sounded like it might take too long, I changed my order to Garlic Bread. One of my girlfriends ordered a glass of wine, and since she had made the reservation and gone through the trouble of arranging everything, I treated her to the wine and garlic bread. Then, of course, our friend who is ALWAYS late arrived about 30 minutes late! By then, the rest of us had already decided what to order from the Dine LA menu. We wanted to try as many dishes as possible, so we ordered different items and shared everything. When our late friend arrived, we ordered his dishes separately. For the first course, we had Caesar Salad, Bruschetta, and Meatballs. For the second course, we ordered Rigatoni Vodka, Cacio e Pepe, and Margherita Pizza. For dessert, everyone ordered Tiramisu. Overall, I thought the food was good. My favorites were the Bruschetta, Meatballs, Rigatoni Vodka, and Tiramisu. The Cacio e Pepe was not my favorite because I thought they used way too much black pepper, and my other friends agreed. Our group had mixed reactions overall. Except for one person, the other two felt the food didn't quite live up to their expectations and were somewhat disappointed. But everyone's taste is different, so I completely understand. Considering how expensive everything has become these days, I thought the Dine LA price was pretty reasonable. It was $45 per person, and with tax and tip, it came to $60 each. For that price, I thought the amount of food and the overall experience were pretty good. I also really appreciated how friendly and attentive all the staff members were. I usually don't drink alcohol, and especially when I'm driving, I NEVER drink--not even a sip. That has been my personal rule for decades. So I just ordered water, and I loved how the staff kept coming by and refilling my glass whenever it got low. I drink a LOT of water, so I really appreciated their attentiveness. Now, about parking: valet parking is $17. I decided to street-park instead. One of my friends also street-parked, but unfortunately she got a parking ticket and was VERY upset. I had originally found a spot where a sign said a parking permit was required, so I decided not to take the risk and moved my car. Before leaving, I asked a man walking his dog if it was okay to park there. He said he had seen many cars parked there and they had been fine, but I still didn't trust it because the sign clearly said permits were required. I told him, "I don't think that's allowed." He was very nice and suggested going about three blocks farther, where there was plenty of street parking without a permit. I followed his advice and parked there. Unfortunately, my friend who stayed in the permit-only spot ended up getting a ticket. Another friend parked in the parking structure across the street and said it cost $18. Since I had parked farther away and didn't want to walk alone at night, I asked him to drop me off at my car after dinner, and he kindly did. So my parking recommendation is to use the $17 valet or street-park about three blocks away where no permit is required. I definitely would NOT recommend parking in the permit-only spaces unless you want to risk getting a ticket. One of the funniest things about this neighborhood is the restaurant names. The restaurant we went to is called "Met Him At A Bar," and literally right across the street is "Met Her At A Bar." There's also another restaurant called "The Night We Met." I have to say, the names are pretty creative and definitely make this neighborhood more fun! Overall, we had a fun evening together, and for $60 per person including tax and tip, I thought it was a pretty decent Dine LA experience.

Daisy was literally the sweetest we've come across in a long time in terms of Customer Service not only was she attentive, but she was caring. She was very much involved and just array of sunshine. She went above and beyond to make sure we were happy honestly it felt like she was one of the girls. We all had an instant connection and almost felt like we were friends. We shared a lot of laughs and stories and I don't think I've had an experience like that before she's special. Everyone in the party loved her and honestly wanted to take her with us We were a party of 10 so she definitely had her handful but she took care of us and we love her for that. She definitely helped in celebrating this special moment. I also would like to give a shout out to Raymundo one of the other workers that helped us in a bachelorette dare to find someone to serenade the bride to be and he's sang this beautiful Spanish ballad. It just was an overall sweet experience and I thank them for helping us wrap this special day in a bow! As for the food delicious the charcuterie board is sooooooo good. Oh my goodness the oven baked brie bread with truffle on it blew my mind. I would honestly come back here and just eat that all day but because our experience was so amazing especially with Daisy I would definitely come back with my crew just to see her again.

I happened to be making an early morning delivery down the street at Allo and had always been curious about Wally's $39 lunch prix fixe menu. Honestly, it sounded almost too good to be true. I walked in right when they opened at 11:32 a.m. and grabbed a seat at the bar. My bartender and server, Shaline A., absolutely made my day. She was warm, welcoming, attentive, and provided genuine hospitality from start to finish. I started with the Caesar salad (with anchovies). Personally, I think a traditional Caesar should always have anchovies they're part of what makes it so special. For my entrée, I had the dorade fish], and it was beautifully prepared. Every bite reflected the quality and attention to detail that Wally's is known for. To finish, I enjoyed the cheese plate featuring a truffle cheese that day. Let me tell you... A+! It was the perfect ending to an outstanding meal. From the service to the food and the overall experience, Wally's exceeded my expectations. The $39 prix fixe lunch is an incredible value for the quality you receive. I highly recommend stopping by, and I'll definitely be back.
