I've eaten a TON of Chinese food throughout my short 25 years of being alive. I have had the honor of being fed 888 since high school and I compare damn near all other Chinese food to this place. I have only been disappointed maybe once in the 400+ times of eating here(they got my soup wrong, but it was still GOOD). My go to meal here is definitely The lunch special L30: Hunan shrimp and it's absolutely delicious. The staff is very gracious and warming to ones soul. Anyway this place is the bombdotcom. This place is terrible use to be a great place to eat. The service has gone down hill, 3 bad experiences at this place. 1st time was at the restaurant dining in. The waitress totally mess our order up then the owner or whoever it was were really rude about it when we complained needless to say we spent 1.5 hrs dining there. 2nd time was a take out order that was place over 50 minutes before I went to pick up before work, it wasn't ready when I got there, end result they missed my egg rolls. 3rd time we found hair in my sons food mid way through the entree, mentioned it to waitress and I asked for them to remove the entree from my bill this time, they gave me hell about it. The rude boy with glasses was a total jerk about it. The atmosphere in this place has gone to shit excuse my language. 3 strikes is enough for me. Not bad at all have passed several times and 2 lazy to drive to NASA Road 1, so me and kiddos stopped in hot/sour soup was good but a little cold, 2 hungry to send back . I love that they deliver and that the food is almost as hot when it hits my door as it would be if I were sitting in the restaurant. The delivery people are always very polite, the delivery man tonight shook my hand while fighting off mosquitos at my door. I'm not a big Chinese food fan, I don't dislike it, it's just one of those take it or leave it deals for me, but, triple 8 has some really good food. General Tso Chicken extra spicy is delicious, Chicken lettuce wraps were pretty good the chicken was a little plain and the sauce a little too salty, but, not bad just wrap with a couple leaves of lettuce, problem solved. First time at this location. Ordered take-out steamed dumplings, fried spring rolls, chicken & eggplant in garlic sauce, & fried rice. This is the second location so I tried to give the chain a second chance. Just not a fan. Food is bland, flavorless. & greasy. But the real kicker was there was NO FILLING in the fried spring rolls! We ordered 8 of them and not one had filling and were simply greasy, fried dough (wonton wrappers?). Honestly, they should be embarrassed serving that. Waste of time and money. Food is good but do not order through Uber Eats. Placed order at 6p, UE let us know it would be delivered at 7P. UE then revised it to 7:35. Driver called at 7:45 and said he is at 888 and they informed him they would need another 35-45 minutes. Considering the drive time we are now expecting the order to arrive at 8:45. To reiterate, the food is generally good but taking advantage because you are not in person and you have already paid - including the service fees is more than I am willing to tolerate. I tried this location one evening and found the food to be just as good as other locations. Service was spotty and the server came by many times but never seemed to get the hint to refill my water. This place is the worst!!! My wife ordered a meal to go and when she got home to enjoy it, to her surprise, it was the wrong order. I called the restaurant and spoke with Dennis who was very rude and said there must be some miscommunication and refused to deliver the correct food. There was no miscommunication since my wife pointed to the picture of the item on the menu. We live 10 miles away which was too far outside his delivery area. Dennis would not take responsibility for his mistake, therefore, we will NEVER deal with them or recommend their establishment to anyone. Dickinson, Texas is not the new "Shangri La" for haute Chinese. My parental units and I met up for a catch-up session plus I had to finish their taxes. Seeing that we were a family, we ordered the following family-style (natch): - #4: Steamed pork dumplings (8 for $4.75) - #123: Clay Pot with Chicken and Jumbo Shrimp in a Coconut Curry Sauce ($10.95) - #68: Mango Chicken with Garlic Sauce ($8.75) - #52: Fried Fishman's Platter ($9.95): 2 pcs redfish, 3 pcs scallops, and 3 pcs shrimp . The dumplings were tasty if not a little on the chewy side. I wonder if they had sat in the kitchen for 5 minutes before serving. We still scarfed them up with a mixture of the paired up soy sauce and a dollop of hot chili oil on the table. The fried seafood was a last-minute substitution when our first seafood choice (#51) was nixed due to unavailability of oysters. We should have channelled the "Force" and skipped this section entirely. Comprised of two fried redfish filets, three scallops, and three shrimp, it wasn't much of an adventure as much as a side trip to Chinese Red Lobster. Blah. The clay pot was chock full of snow peas, jumbo shrimp, and chicken which were all positives. The curry was a bit overpowering and this was in spite of the fact that I like Indian and Thai food. I would have been happier with a simple brown sauce with those ingredients. The Mango Chicken was the star: laden with brocolli, water chestnuts, baby corn, chicken, and mango chunks, this dish balanced the sweetness of the fruit with the subtle garlic sauce. I wish we had ordered two of these and omitted the fried seafood platter. Heck, order three and get rid of the clay pot, too. Clean sweep! They've opened a third location in Clear Lake proper but I don't know how that compares to this location or the original near Gulfgate. Overall, the Gulfgate one, even with its old Pizza Hut style building seems to turn out a more authentic and soulful version of its dishes. Perhaps, the Chinese soul of this chain fades as you drive farther away from New Chinatown. For decent Chinese out in the non "Shangri La" of Dickinson, this place will fill the bill. Given more time, I'll drive into town for my Chinese fix. read more

So I had to drive out in this area at night and was like is there anything good around here to eat? We found this place. It was quite empty when we went inside and the owners were so shocked that there were actually Asian people dining. They kept smiling as they brought our food out to us. I ordered like 3-4 dishes that night. I don't remember anything being that special but nothing being that bad. The hot claypot seafood was decent and the beef and brocolli was fine also. The girl who took the order mistakenly entered the wrong dish. So I got exactly what she entered showing that the kitchen line is great at filling the orders they are given. WTF...Egg shell in my shrimp fried rice!!! Picked up our food to take it home (live about 15 miles from restaurant). My boyfriend bit into a large chunk of egg shell (size of a quarter) and immediately spit it out and was disgusted. Like I'm going to make some shit like that up, anyways I sent the picture (see below), she asked us to bring it back for a new one (it was already 8:15pm, long day), we stated we didn't want to drive back and we live 15 miles away, they offered a credit for another one (really didn't want that, I'm disgusted now), she said I would have to return the rice for a refund even after sending the picture. Then she offered to deliver a new one, I said we live kinda far, she said that's ok, when I gave her the address she said "oh" that's over our 12 mile delivery area...REALLY???? I told her that already...stupid! You just offered...so I was like fuck it, we will take the credit and go back maybe one day. I put the rice in the fridge and the next day we decided we were NEVER going back and wanted our money back. We took the rice to the restaurant, waited forever for them to come out, a guy came out, told him what happened, a woman came out, same one I talked to the other night, she stated she couldn't refund my credit card because it was from the other day and they already closed that day out. This is the best Chinese food in Houston. Period. My daddy drives all the way from Katy over to League City to eat here with us. Favorite dishes are Chicken with Garlic and Sesame Beef.
