But I came here with the family and the food was disappointing. We order a roll and salmon sushi, and tuna tartare and the soft shell crab udon, and the edamame and chicken karage for appetizer. Once we got the appetizer I wanted to just cancel our order and leave. The chicken karage was a bit dry and while had a sweet soy sauce was quite plain. The roll and the salmon sushi both had this ponzu and chili sauce mix that was overpowering and couldn't taste anything else. I'm sure I could have eaten a piece of the salmon sushi and a roll and closed my eyes and not been able to tell the difference because all I could taste was the sauce. Had a wonderful experience. Food was great, the crudo appetizer was among the best we had ever had and the karaage was very good. Entrees were the branzino and short ribs, both very good. Cocktails were unique and very tasty, we had the Kuraokami and Caught in the rain. Desserts were unique and good as well. Service was impeccable, they really worked as a team very well. We had a small piece of a bone in our sushi. I think it was a remnant of a bone from the tuna filling. I hate to say it, but it was true. I think if I come back 49 more times I never have it happen, but this time it did. As a Nashville local, I was excited to check out this new concept restaurant/bar, especially since there aren't many places like it in the area. The atmosphere was great--low lighting, music at a perfect volume for conversation, and a well-thought-out modern decor. I happened to visit on a Hozier night, which I loved. However, the food is what ultimately brings my rating down. Our bill came out to $226 for two people, yet the portions were disappointingly small, and some dishes were undercooked. The wagyu sando was particularly tough and nearly inedible--I wouldn't even let my dogs chew on something that hard. My friend and I couldn't finish it. The crunchy tuna had decent flavor but was poorly constructed and fell apart easily. For the price, I expected much better execution. The cocktails were fine but served in tiny glasses, making them feel underwhelming for the price. The one highlight of the night was the mochi, which was genuinely enjoyable. While I wouldn't return for dinner, I might stop by again just for the ambiance and dessert. read more

Oh my gosh we loved this place!! I'm always hesitant to travel downtown for dinner as a Nashville Native, but the Marriott offers 4 hours free parking with their valet, which was so incredibly easy! It was almost like magic walking into this restaurant. You're transported into a dark, swanky music lounge. We had a cozy table in the corner and were quickly greeted with hot hand towels which was so lovely in the winter!! Our waitress was very attentive and friendly. My husband ordered the not so midori sour, and I liked it so much, I got one too! I think that is one of my most favorite cocktails I've ever tried. It was so light and refreshing. That was followed by the BEST French fries ever, their beef tallow fries. These were perfect, nothing else to say. Very authentic/unique dining experience. I tend to like a quieter dinner but it was still impressive to hear the vinyl playing by the DJ while we ate. As for the food...best miso soup I have ever had. The toro was probably the best as well, along with an awesome fried rice. The roll was good but didn't compare to the other items.
