I was thinking between Ohana Bbq, Cava and this spot on the plaza and decided to give 8oz Poke a try. I ordered the 3-protein rice bowl and chose salmon, tuna and spicy tuna as my protein selection. I then covered it up with a bunch of fresh veggie toppings like cucumber, green onions and jalapeños, added multiple sauces and topped it with their crispy onions. My combination was very delicious-- the fish tasted very fresh with spicy tuna standing out the most by taste and freshness. The veggies were ripe and yummy and the sauces made it so much better....I'm such a sauce guy, need sauce on everything. And finally, I absolutely loved the taste of their crispy onions. They were perfectly crispy on the outside, sweet and soft on the inside and they were just so fresh ---this spot makes them in-house and they come to your bowl pretty much out of the deep fryer that you can see towards the back of this spot. What a nice touch, bravo! The place itself is spacious with around 10 tables for dining in. The customer service was solid and attentive. Good vibes out there and good food. **** Very disappointing experience. The employee serving me had an unnecessarily rude, authoritarian attitude from the moment I started ordering. At one point, I lightly touched the glass while pointing at what I wanted, and she abruptly scolded me with, "Don't touch the glass." There are much more respectful ways to communicate with customers, and the interaction felt unnecessarily hostile. To make matters worse, my poke bowl had noticeably less food than I've received at other 8 Oz Poke locations, and it wasn't nearly as flavorful as the Encino location. The quality and portion were both underwhelming. I was also surprised to find there's an additional fee if you want to sit and eat there. After an unpleasant interaction, a smaller and less flavorful meal, an extra dine-in fee, and then being prompted for a tip, the whole experience left a bad taste in my mouth. I won't be returning to this location. If you have the option, I'd recommend going to the Encino location instead. read more

8oz Poke is a pretty boring and uncreative name, but who cares if the fish is good, the service is friendly and the place is clean. It also helps that the parking isn't horrible. After reading all the 5-star reviews and realizing it was right in our hood, we figured we had to check it out. And yeah, not bad. I wouldn't call it the best poke in town, but it definitely satisfied our lunchtime hankering. We usually go to Sweetfin for the more creative bowls, but 8oz Poke wins when you want something simple and straight-up. And did I mention how nice they are in there? I love me a good poke spot and this happens to be in Studio City in the plaza with Sprouts and Cava. Really clean place and affordable prices/you get a good amount for what you pay for. I got me a small size (2 fish) for $16 which was just enough to keep me satisfied. They also have so many toppings and sauces to choose from and my container was filled. I am SO surprised at myself that living so close to this 8oz Poke, being in this shopping center all 32 years of living in Studio City, wanting to try their food and finally got a chance to get my teeth into their flavorful, delicious, yummy Poke. I told my son to take photos of the place and he did. I ordered their large Poke with all the healthy meat & vegetables that you can think of. I chose white rice for my base and got :Ahi Tuna, Albacore Tuna, Tofu, Shrimp, Cucumber Salad, Avocado($0.50), Pickled Ginger, Green/Red onion, Corn ,and really fresh Cilantro garnished all around the large bowl. It came with 2 sauces. House sauce and Garlic Panzu sauce. One of the sauces had a little spice to it and it gave a good kick. Absolutely delicious! They have a lot of to go orders and the lady who helped my son was Karina. He said she was very sweet, kind, and helpful. Everything was balanced right. For fast food style poke it is fairly decent, but, the fish is a little, well, fishy. The pickled ginger is almost bitter, the crabmeat salad is not good. Bowl size is good, but for the price idk - I wouldn't come back here for sure. For the quality of the ingredients, this should be maybe a $12 bowl, not $18.50. Ambiance is very casual and catered for to go but there are some seats inside. Parking is absolutely atrocious. There are too many businesses for the amount of parking that is offered. It's hard to get in and hard to get out. I think the value isn't there for me though. It's a bit more expensive than most poke spots and frankly, I do not think the quality stands out to justify the price. Today was the day the older Asian guy last time he made my order I just mentioned it was light on toppings and light on fish in comparison to the other staff never been an issue at all before. well, I guess that set him off and he said well you're complaining and if you don't like it, you can leave and go somewhere else because that's how we make our orders here and the staff well they're doing it wrong then he said, I don't have to make this order and pass it to his colleague next to him. I'm just mentioning that it was light that's all and it literally just went back-and-forth with them both saying well if you don't like it just leave the other staff know me I just get extra Serrano pepper if I have to pay extra for extra toppings etc I'd gladly pay extra but it's always been consistent I quess my mistake was mentioning he made it light and that got him all upset. Decent poke place in Studio City, nothing too special or anything. Masago is an extra $1 charge while avocado is an extra $0.50 charge. I feel like masago isn't usually extra charge at other places. It's a poke staple. The bowls are slightly pricier than other places that I've been to in the LA area. I don't think the fish scoops are a bigger size either. I wish the marinade on the fish had a stronger flavor, or that they spent more time dousing it in the sauces. Fish was fresh and high-quality. The food here typically is great however I came here today for an early lunch and the cucumber was very bitter. I told the cashier about the problem and he acknowledged that it has happened in the past, they were very helpful . However, I asked if I could get a different side instead and the manager/owner refused. They did not apologize or address the situation to acknowledge that the cucumber was in fact gone bad. They just removed it from being served thankfully. Very sad because I liked coming here but the service and attitude of the owners/manager was a huge disappointment. read more

I was I. The mood for some poke and saw I wasn't far from 8oz poke. The reviews looked great so I gave it a try. The lady at the counter was very patient and explained everything to me. I got the 2 fish salmon and shrimp with spicy Mayo. With all the fixings I was ready for a flavor explosion but to my disappointment it was a small "pew". It wasn't bad but it wasn't great. It lacked flavor. Had I taken it home I would've added some garlic and seasonings to spruce it up (and I'm not talking about salt) but I ate there. The meal would get 2.5 stars. Oh and I paid 3.75 for a bottled drink. (Y?). I did eat there. The space was clean and open. I was able to see outside but not be bothered by the foot traffic coming in. About 6 people came in while I was there and 3 to go orders, so some people were loving it. Will I return, no. I was impressed with the portions but it was a whole lot of no flavor. I've spent a lot of money here Last night, my friend and I spent over $50 combined on our dinners. By the time I made it through the line, it was 8:55 pm. The cashier informed me that they close in five minutes. At 9:01 PM they walked up to our table and told us that they are closed and asked us if we wanted bags. Nobody in that restaurant would have suffered if they gave us four more minutes to eat our food. It was one of the most insulting experiences of my life.
