Lunch special with spicy tuna roll
    Elizabeth M.

Every time I come to sushi don i walk out feeling happy and satisfied. The lunch specials are the most satisfying due to the melt in your mouth fish freshness. I come alone or being friends or family and they do agree it is superb fish and eye rolling yumminess.

Great deal for casual sushi! The combo A is such a great deal, comes with 5 sushi pieces, donburi bowl and a miso soup.

Great spot for takeout sushi. The fish is extremely fresh and I love the combo options. The prices are super reasonable for the amount of food you get. Highly recommend!

I don't eat fish but I am crazy for avocado rolls! The craving hit right as I was driving by Sushi Don- it was fate. I got two avocado rolls and some edamame. The portions were great, I got two meals out of my order. Love that! The sushi was real good. Tasted very fresh and came with soy sauce and wasabi, but no ginger. The edamame wasn't as fresh, falling apart and such, but still tasted alright. My order was ready literally within minutes after ordering and the staff were friendly. The togo packaging was super cute too! Overall a great and delicious experience. I'll be back!

Just ok. Subpar. They are ridiculously overpriced for what you get! Sushi was very bland and barely called sushi. We purchased the $39 platter. It was pathetic. And when you eat in, they are super cheap with the plates. I'm pretty sure they are using the foam ones from 99 cent stores! Won't be coming back here as it's really not worth it. At all.

It's beautiful-- the Combo B is beautiful.

This is my all time favorite sushi spot. Don't get me wrong I am all about all you can eat sushi but this place just gets me every time. I could never decide between the combo B and the poke bowl so "porque no los dos" one would say. Combo B for me looks like a shrimp tempura roll, the 5 pc of sushi, and miso soup. Now I have some kind of delicious ocd where the best is saved for last. While it's always hard to decide which one is the best I have to eat a in a circle one piece at a time. Sometimes I mix it up in the middle but 100% yellow tail sushi is always the last bite. Something about this one specifically just gives a happy ending in my mouth. This is the best spot in the valley no cap. The service is great too! I go so often and call in and the guy recognizes my voice and just knows what I'm there for. Going back to the poke- it isn't a build your own but it's the best damn regular- how you're supposed to eat- poke- poke. So freakin good. The ambiance is so cute I love the little characters they have on a shelf! So cute

Super unimpressed with Sushi Don and I am not surprised after having a 2 star lunch at the main sushi restaurant on Riverside Drive in Studio City-ish. This is strictly fast food sushi and the portions are very small and it's not inexpensive. It was formerly owned by a better sushi chain (Sushi Sasabune) so don't be misled. My bestie and I shared the sushi combo and miso soup. 2 stars because we lived to tell the tale.

Spicy Tuna Roll. Why is it salmon colored? Rice is so dry.

Her attention to details is noticeable in the choice of silverware, and she quality checks the presentation and tabling of every meal. Thoughtful, deliberate, and delicious. This is by far my favorite sushi restaurant in the area. It has been a blessing to experience the food here -- -- in particular, the appetizers are must tries. And if you have any hesitations, Sunya gives the best recommendations based on freshness and pairings for each day.

They seemed like they had a lot of options. Got busier once we were there. Miso soup was very tasty and my daughter scarfed down her tuna, avocado, cucumber roll. The fish seemed fresh. They also give you an interesting, complementary bowl of sesame bean sprouts. Negatives - place needs updating - the ambience leaves something to be desired. They need a new menu, they have 3 different pieces of paper that they give you but none of them really encapsulate all of your options, which is odd. The "daily menu" included items that they didn't have. The spicy tuna roll was mediocre, nothing special. The garlic edamame were tasty but also very messy - I ended up ordering a separate bowl of regular edamame for my daughter. I would not order the tuna on the crispy rice again, the rice cake was very hard. Overall, it was a decent place for a regular night and if you don't want to wait. If you have time and want something with a big more swagger, I'd opt for somewhere else.

I love my handroll spots like KazuNori, Sogo, Joint, and Umiai. They all have pretty consistent rolls and service that pair together for a great experience. I stopped by Friday around 3:30pm and although almost all the seats were taken by the time I sat down, almost half the diners left by the time my first roll was delivered. So it's fair to say that they were not that busy. Service started off okay with my order being taken and ginger+wasabi plus a hot towel being provided. I started off with the spicy albacore on crispy rice. Although it was hot, the rice was not crispy and more soggy. I did enjoy the albacore topping however especially with the crispy onions. I will say, each hand roll is a good size but some have heavier rice than others, so it's a tad inconsistent. My favorite part though was definitely the seaweed. Each hand roll had the crispiest seaweed that I absolutely loved - every bite hearing and feeling that fresh crispy wrap really made a difference. The tuna hand roll tasted like pretty low grade tuna like you would find in a supermarket. The salmon was a bit chewy. The Negi toro however was amazing. This was practically a perfect hand roll. I expected more out of the Yunomi Special which had Spicy Albacore, Shrimp Tempura, Crunchy Onions, Truffle Soy Sauce. You couldn't taste the "truffle soy sauce" and the spicy albacore got lost with the shrimp tempura being so heavily battered and hot. The Unagi shrimp tempura was a bit better in terms of ratio but the unagi wasn't all that special like you would hope - buttery, soft unagi with a nice char. The Salmon skin was one of the better hand rolls to end my meal, it had a really unique and freshly baked feel and taste. Overall, my meal was WAY too fast, and this is one of the biggest drawbacks to Yunomi. I initially ordered every item at once except for the salmon skin roll, so the first to the last roll in that order took only 16 minutes. My first dish (spicy albacore crispy rice) was delivered at 3:10pm and my last roll at 3:26pm. Sorry but that's just absurd. I'm not in a rush, the restaurant wasn't busy, there was no need for my food to be delivered that fast. After my last roll I ordered one more - the salmon skin - and it took 10 minutes for it to be delivered just because my "chef" had moved down to another party so it took a moment to return to me. What made things worse and more annoying is having rolls delivered before I finished what I was currently eating. And almost every time I couldn't hear or understand what the person was saying when an item was delivered so I had to inspect it to see what it was. He was mumbling, looking away, and just putting no effort into customer service. I wasn't given or asked for more ginger, even though there were at least 4-5 workers constantly in front of me. I noticed there are no "specials" and even the menu itself is pretty limited and basic. Nothing unique or special about these items. At the end when I placed my final order, I was asked if I want the check after the last roll, which was fine so I said yes to that. But before the chef could even return to my area to serve me, the other staff member delivered my check, again as if to rush me out when plenty of seats were open, nobody was waiting, and they weren't closing anytime soon. I'm not sure what vibe they are aiming for here, since the aesthetic and design of the restaurant is truly gorgeous and far more unique and special than what the menu, service, and food deliver. But it seems like they want to be the fast food version of a hand roll bar and that's not what I would recommend or return to.

Located on Ventura Boulevard, Sushi Tomoki is a small, intimate sushi restaurant with a clean, minimalist Japanese aesthetic and a relaxed atmosphere that lets the food take center stage. (The Infatuation) Since we were dining with our 22-month-old, we requested a table instead of sitting at the sushi bar, and the staff was very accommodating. They even prepared a customized tamago sushi roll for our little one, which he absolutely enjoyed. The omakase was thoughtfully paced, with each piece served one at a time so we could fully appreciate every bite. The fish was incredibly fresh, and every piece practically melted in our mouths. The attention to detail and quality of the ingredients really stood out. The only piece that wasn't my favorite was the sushi topped with mint. It simply wasn't my personal preference, though I'm sure those who enjoy mint with savory dishes would appreciate it. The service was exceptional from start to finish. Everyone was warm, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout the meal. They made my sister's birthday even more special by singing Happy Birthday and surprising her with complimentary sherbet and four pieces of green tea mochi--a thoughtful touch that ended the evening on a high note. Overall, Sushi Tomoki delivered a memorable omakase experience with outstanding sushi, attentive service, and a welcoming atmosphere. We'll definitely be back.

Spicy Tuna Cut Roll--for 10 pieces ($14.80), Albacore Fried Onion Roll-- count of 12 for ($20.80), Zero Roll-- count of 12 for ($25.00), Rainbow Roll-- count of 12 for ($10.80). Everything was so LIGHT, FRESH and DELICIOUS!!! They also have hand rolls, and other types of cut rolls. They have street and metered parking. Before I forget, we ordered Crispy Rice Tuna that came in (2) pieces for (13.50). The minute I saw that, it made me laugh. Called our server and told her to take that back and remove it from the bill which she gladly did. I thought it was going to be an actual full course rolls. They also have dessert but we didn't order anything. Restaurant was very quaint, limited decor, very busy for Monday mid evening, and was very nice and clean. Total came out to be $95.70 including tax minus the tip. I'm sure they also have a bathroom, but we didn't end up using it. I will return, but not any time soon. They also don't have any Bento Box type of food. Very authentic place to go on a date, friends, family or even dine solo. They also have a Sushi Bar. Alcohol wise, only have beer, wine and sake along with 2 fridges full of cold drinks.. Thank you all very much!!

If you're someone who enjoys traditional, high-quality nigiri and sashimi, this probably won't be your go-to spot. Shiki is all about comfort sushi: big rolls loaded with imitation crab, creamy sauces, baked toppings, and bold flavors. It's rich, indulgent, and definitely on the heavier side. That said, when you're absolutely starving and just want something satisfying that hits the spot, Shiki delivers. The menu is huge with endless options, portions are generous, and the prices are very reasonable. Every time I've come here I've ended up ordering specialty rolls instead of actual sushi because that's really what this restaurant excels at. I also have to admit... baked rolls are one of my guilty pleasures. A lot of higher-end sushi restaurants don't even serve them because they're more of a comfort dish than traditional sushi, so Shiki scratches that itch perfectly. The service was exceptional--friendly, attentive, and quick, which always makes the experience better. Will I be back? Probably not anytime soon, simply because I usually crave a more traditional sushi experience. But compared to other restaurants in this style and price range, Shiki does an excellent job. If you're looking for filling, flavorful specialty rolls with great value, this is an easy 5-star spot.
