Generously portioned. A medium makes up two meals for me. Their crunchy onion topping is like half a blooming onion with your bowl! Chucks of fish are huge, taste fresh. No fishy smell when you walk in. I like getting half kale, half brown rice. Ask for the sauces on the side otherwise it's easy to over salt your meal. Totally satisfying. read more

EVERY SINGLE TIME I have come here the older Asian lady makes comments on what we order, even when she's not the one making my food. She's made comments like "that's too much sauce" with a disgusted look on her face. Last time she said "my food was too spicy" and made me feel bad for getting extra jalapeños. I've stayed quiet since I love 8oz and also eat at the one near my job in Sherman oaks. Tonight I told the (another girl) helping me to charge whatever my husband also had. I guess he had a drink that she didn't see. As he approached the cash register with it in her hand she started making fussing sounds as if we were trying to steal it. I asked is it not in the receipt? She said no so we paid and as we are walking out she starts to signal the other girl that he was hiding it behind the bar? She's pointing at us as we are approaching our car and so I walked back in to ask if there was an issue since she's pointing at us. Truly. Truly. I will never eat here because of her. I came back a day later after asking how things worked, and I had had lunch already. I got a "small" and it was PLENTY. I got tuna and albacore on a bed of half salad, half wonton, the crab salad, seaweed salad, red/green onions, ginger, and some other things I can't remember, topped off with spicy mayo and chili oil....I'm pretty satisfied with what I had---thought it was great. Great customer service and good portions! Easily my favorite poke spot in the valley. Most poke spots have the same generic flavor but 8 oz is really at another level in terms of quality, taste and customer service. I love the poke from 8oz. The selection of fish, sauces and toppings is huge and excellent, and I really appreciate the fried onions and fried garlic toppings. They'd make anything taste better, but on their poke, they're a game changer. They will even make you a vegan poke (it's not cheaper, but they add more of the other items like soybeans and tofu with two extra choices). I really enjoy my poke with both rice and greens as a base, several fish choices plus crab salad and the sweet egg cubes, topped with both sweet and savory sauces and some ginger, wasabi and pineapple, but you can make yours anything you want from sweet, to vinegar based to wasabi nose burn to volcanically spicy. If you like poke, this is a great place to try. In my estimated 50 orders, I've only had one piece of fish that was anything less than perfectly fresh tasting and delicious. read more

I like coming to 8 oz poke because of the overall selection and freshness of the food. I prefer the studio city location because there is plenty of parking vs the Sherman Oaks location. Inside is very spacious and clean. There are plenty of workers to keep the line moving especially during lunch time. Also, they always give a good portion size. read more

First let me say that I've been coming here regularly for well over two years and never had any issues whatsoever. Today (ordered in person at around 3:30) the food was absolute trash! 2 plates with different fish and sides and everything tasted rotten! Also got a side of avocado which was brown and not fresh at all. The fish tasted old and the rice as if it's been sitting in the cooker over night. Maybe time for the health department to check this place as it was definitely not on par with their 'eat within 30 minutes' guideline. Disgusted, and threw the food out. Guess that was the last time coming here! read more

This place is absolute trash. I don't recommend using Uber eats with this restaurant because first, you won't get a full refund in the app and second, their quality is not fresh and it's not cheap to even buy this food. If I could rate this place zero stars I would. Because of the Sriracha shortage, they changed the spicy tuna ingredients and didn't inform anyone and when I complained saying that it tasted sour because it does, they weren't going to offer me even a change in a side. The octopus was also fishy. I understand it's fish, but it's not supposed to taste sour and stale. The business owner wouldn't even offer a refund or any help. They just wanted me to deal with this. They said they couldn't do anything for me and to take it up with Uber eats. As a former starbucks barista, I can say I know customer service and even just them offering a discount next time I go or even a change in side to something I liked would've changed my mood. I didn't even want the refund, but the lack if empathy was abysmal. I can't even eat my lunch now because I have limited time and I'm just super upset. Useless place. My experience was the opposite. Customer service was great. The ladies were very sweet. But I found a black hair in my poke bowl yesterday. Ew. The salmon was fresh, tuna might've been Pre frozen, not sure. It ruined my experience and I will not be coming back. I'm sure it would've been better had I not been way too close to swallowing that black hair. Gross. read more

The food is great, BUT, what is the purpose of delivering Poke WITHOUT UTENSILS?? Every time I order from here I add "CHOPSTICKS, please" in the special instructions (which is still weird to have to do), and I still get NO CHOPSTICKS, NO NAPKINS, NO FORKS, NOTHING! Seriously, do you just expect that we eat TAKEOUT POKE with our fingers? Is that the rational, here? Is that the default understanding about eating a rice-base food from a bowl? Come on, guys. I love the food but the service is horrible. The Asian man working behind the counter is honestly so rude. The first time I was here, he stopped me from getting almost all the toppings on the "top it off" step because there'd be "too much liquid." But honestly, I liked all of those toppings and wanted it that way and he made it seem like my choice wasn't the best and didn't allow the employee making my order to put it on. Second time coming here, there were 6 people inside the store. I walked in and he immediately yelled, "SORRY, ONLY FOUR PEOPLE AT A TIME." I understand the restrictions due to COVID but there were more than 4 people in the lobby?? So how is he going to tell me to get out but not everyone else? He even went out of his way to close the door as I was waiting outside. The customer who just paid was nice enough to let me know that I could go inside. On to the food: My first time, I got a small and the crispy onions were falling out because the employee was nice enough to give me an excessive amount! The fish seems like it's fresh so definitely a positive right there. The amount of fish they give is decent but the excessive toppings really makes up for it. However, the second time, the Asian guy made my order. He was rushing me throughout my entire order. I honestly did not feel welcomed by him at all. So when I got to the toppings, he put less crispy onions than I originally got in a small. I had to ask the cashier to add more. Overall, I'd like to come back here because their food is great but their service needs to step up. read more

When dining in, the smell from the air freshener on top of the drink cooler was totally overwhelming. I was eating my bowl and as the air freshener sprayed, I feel like all I could do was smell the scent of it and couldn't actually taste my food. It smelled a lot of chemicals. It would a lot more pleasant to dine in if the smell of the air freshener wasn't so overwhelming. Will probably get it to go next time or eat outside! They have a couple tables right outside the front door.

We soon got a good spot and ordered the shrimp ceviche and the pan fried dumplings for appetizers. The ceviche was served on a bed of crispy noodles and it was refreshing and satisfying. The dumplings were crispy, not greasy, and flavorful. For dinner, we got 2 orders of japchae and 3 orders of bibimbap. With 2 Korean-born children and having visited the country, those are among our family's favorite dishes. And they did not disappoint. The japchae noodles were just right. They were not too firm and not too soft and well-seasoned. With a mixture of veggies, meat, mushrooms, eggs, and that delectable sauce, the bibimbap tickled and satiated the tastebuds. I told the server there was a birthday at the table and she brought out an excellent creme brulee with a candle in it. My husband and I didn't pay the bill. But the prices were reasonable with most of the entrees costing less than $20 each. We have four more days in town and may very well make another visit to indulge in that scrumptious food.

The menu features all the usual and expected options, from eggs and omelets to pancakes, burgers, salads, sandwiches and even egg salad that's "made to order." The hash was well done and crispy (as requested), and had good flavor -- a nice balance of seasoning without being too salty. Eggs were also done exactly as requested, and the over medium yolks blended perfectly with the crisp hash. A side of cottage cheese was fresh, and the English muffin lightly toasted but properly warm to melt the butter. This may have been a traditional, old school, non-trendy breakfast order, but it was executed perfectly and was a satisfying start to the day. My server, Elza, was friendly and helpful, checking on me repeatedly, and making sure I had everything I needed. This salad would benefit from adding mandarins or cucumbers but it's still a tasty option.
