One thing we really liked about 98 Center is that the staff is so lively, friendly, and helpful that it was fun to be there. 98 Center is like a hip-pub, the foods are inventive, the drinks are festive, and the choices are limited enough not to overwhelm, but still varied enough that you won't run out of choices if you go more than once in you're time in Moab. Our favorite? We loved, loved, loved The Philly Cheesesteak Sandwich (they also make a Chicken version, for the non-red meat crowd). Here, we are told, the Chef ships in the bread for these gems, direct from Philadelphia! This Sandwich is a must for your first visit. Amazing. We had the wonderful French Fried Potatoes, Beef Bone Broth, and the amazing, if less than filling (we were forewarned) Pork Belly. They also have great vegetarian choices, and they are enthusiastic to customize things for the veggie crown (I don't recommend the Vegetarian Pork Belly, though)! ;-) We also got a couple of Chicken Banh Mi Sandwiches to go...GREAT for a hike lunch. We refrigerated it overnight in our hotel room, and packed for the hikento The Delicate Arch the next morning. So wonderful! They don't use a reservation system, so get there early. Great ambiance. Great vibe. I had their spin on an Old Fashioned drink. The drink was great! Our server was great. But. The food was slowwwww. We had the Banh Mi Nachos. They were not good. Just barely off of Main Street in Moab, this place doesn't suffer from the overcrowding of a lot of Moab restaurants and cafes during high season. The Vietnamese iced coffee and pork banh mi were perfect, with a side salad ($2 upgrade from kettle chips), which felt much needed after days of road trip food. Service is friendly without being in your face or disingenuous. It's a place where you're welcome to hang out, or grab a quick bite and take off to the parks. Will be back! read more

B liked his manhattan and I LOVED the gin and tonic. They made with a Utah gin and instead of tonic- used soda water and a local made quinine syrup- it was SOOOO good. Pro tip- you can by the syrup at the Moab Made store right around the corner. Apps up next- the pickled deviled egg topped with kimchee were AWESOME! I want to recreate these at home. Tofu steamed buns ok, but needed a bit of sauce to kick them up. B went with the steak banh mi and enjoyed it. My salad was exactly what I wanted. The employees are great and service top notch. Cocktail ingredients are very well thought out and the drinks are expertly prepared. Highly recommended. The Deviled egg appetizer is wonderful with a small amount of kimchi topping. Don't pass over the side salad. They are very fresh and the house-made dressings are outstanding. This place was PHOking good! I was visiting from the Bay Area, where we have lots of great pho and this place exceeded expectations. Highly recommend. I had vegan pho - it was so fresh and so good. Food: chicken pho, kids beef pho, bahn mi sandwich with pork. The food is an eclectic take on the traditional. The pork is more a pulled pork in the sandwich. They use fresh local ingredients and it tastes like it. I think if you put aside your Vietnamese expectations, then you will be pleasantly surprised that you enjoyed your experience here. Service: the food took awhile but I think I only felt it was long because usually pho comes out to your table in 2 seconds. But this is not the usual pho place. It felt like a locals labor of love. Really bummed as we love a good bowl of Pho. After traveling all day, we tried to place a take out order over the phone. We couldn't get through so made the trek downtown and placed a to go order no problem. Waited about 30 minutes total, which for how busy they were, was great! We opted for Beef Pho and Chicken with Beef Broth. Both were disappointing. The broth was lacking in flavor, and they also didn't provided hoisin and sriracha like we requested. The chicken was flavorless and disappointedly dry. My wife ordered the Mien Chay (Noodle Salad) with braised pulled pork. We informed them of a tree nut allergy, but made it clear that peanuts are okay. Salad didn't have any peanuts or the braised pork. While it wasn't terrible, we did pay extra and my wife was left looking for protein after the fact. My son had the grilled cheese and it was fairly good for a cheap kids option. I will say, the Golden-Aid was killer. If it wasn't a to-go order, my wife's salad could have been redeemed by simply asking for a side of the pork to add with some peanuts. Our Pho would likely have benefited from some Hoisin and sriracha as well. But alas, it wasn't - thus only two stars. read more

tldr; fantastic restaurant, highly recommend philly cheesesteak we were so hungry when we came here for dinner after hiking at arches national park. at 98 center, food was served fast, our server was great and we just inhaled our food!! we were also seated immediately at around 7:15pm, which was great because we were so hungry :) we sat inside bc it was a little chilly but they also have outdoor seating! we started off with the pork belly and deviled eggs and although pricey, the pork belly was definitely worth a try! the deviled eggs were incredible too, and their homemade kimchi was so good that i had to get an extra side of it. we then got their beef pho and their special, which was a spicy philly cheesesteak WHICH WERE BOTH SO GOOD and exactly what we were looking to eat after our hike. thinking about their philly cheesesteak makes my mouth water all over again, it was so satisfying, it was so cheesy and creamy with so much meat! i am so glad we got the side of kimchi because we ate it together with the cheesesteak so the cheesesteak wouldn't taste so overpowering. echoing with what others have said, their owner is from philly and literally imports bread from there for their cheesesteaks!! i also loved the beef pho, specifically their soup was so gooood! maybe not as rich as pho ive had in other vietnamese restaurants that are run by vietnamese people but would like to add that even though their restaurant is not necessarily authentic, its still very yummy for sure! Probably our favorite spot in Moab to grab sandwiches and salads to go - delicious food and drinks at a reasonable price for the quality of food. The food tastes so fresh and light yet filling, and the menu is very vegetarian friendly! Our favorites are the banh mi tofu and portobello sandwiches. The tofu is grilled with a lemongrass glaze while the portobello is marinated, and the edamame pate and vegenaise still gives you a feeling of creaminess so you don't feel like you're missing out on the typical liver pate and mayo texture. We've also had the bahn mi salad and the noodle salad. You can choose your dressing, and I went with the honey sesame which was tangy and sweet. I also highly recommend trying one of their "bevies." The golden-aid is my favorite - sweet, tangy, and spicy; if you're a fan of ginger, try it! My husband preferred the Hi-C which is a combo of hibiscus, orange juice, and pineapple. As others have mentioned, this restaurant makes perhaps one of the best salads I've ever had, the Bahn Mi salad. We came to Moab in August during the pandemic, and this business did a good job following precautions and were doing takeout only at the time. The service was prompt and you really do get a generous portion of salad and a meat that comes with it. The sauces are fantastic and the pulled pork was to die for. This wasn't something I was expecting to find in Moab: an urbane Vietnamese-fusion restaurant that has an up-to-date big-city feel. (Side note: Vietnamese is one of a handful of my favorite cuisines, although I don't get to have a variety of it where we have lived for the last decade.) One reason I didn't expect "Vietnamese" is because Yelp had 98 Center labeled only as "vegan" and "gluten-free." But this was misleading, because the menu features plenty of meat, and the menu consists largely of versions of pho and banh mi sandwiches. (Hence: I added "Vietnamese" as a Yelp label!) The website reflects that the owners themselves are not Vietnamese, but a bowl of beef pho reflected that the chef is pretty well steeped in Vietnamese fare. The kitchen had plainly taken some time with the broth. That said, it was not as robust and complex and balanced as some I've had, and the noodle-to-broth ratio seemed off (too many noodles). The pho did contain beautiful thinly-sliced, nearly raw flank steak (i.e., the way it's supposed to be!), and was accompanied by fresh condiments. Generally, a bit better than I was expecting! But it was also quite small at fifteen (!) dollars. (The wife had a similar thought about her bun chuy--she thought it was a very good version but just too small.) The restaurant is off Moab's main drag, but only by a block, and this seems to make a big difference: This wasn't the usual tourist crowd, but seemingly quite a few locals instead, or at least folks who spend a lot of time in Moab. Very good bar list by Utah standards. Given the rather high pricing, let's call it 3.5 stars, but I'll round up to 4, crediting 98 Center for being a unique dining option in Moab. (If this restaurant were in an urban area with Vietnamese-food competition, though, it'd be a 3.) read more

How fortunate that 98 Center was one of the only restaurants open for dinner in Moab on New Year's Eve -- no better way to cap off the year with a big bowl of steaming pho while it's frigid and snowy out! It's a fairly small place with a large communal table, a bar against the wall, and some two seaters and booths. They've got some trendy vibes going on, with wood panel walls, a lo-fi chill beats playlist in the background, and silverware and napkins provided in a mason jar. Natalie seemed to be the only waitress working that night, but she handled business well, though I did feel rushed as she dropped off my check before I was even halfway done with my pho. Also, there wasn't enough chili sauce and seasonings for the bar where I was sitting, so she just grabbed the ones I had been using and put them in between me and another guy a couple seats down for us to share. Well... then I couldn't reach them anymore, so I ended up moving to sit next to the other guy. Minor service grievances, but understandable when they're getting so much business on NYE. The pho itself was surprisingly good. The broth was hearty with some hints of fish sauce -- unusual in pho, but it worked well. Serving size was reasonable; I eat a lot and I was full afterwards. The steak texture was a bit spongy, maybe overcooked. Still better than I would have expected in Moab. One word, DELICIOUS! Wow, after some healthy options like peach and eklectic cafe unfortunately closed, I was on the hunt some good healthy food. 98 center did not disappoint. I got their tempeh bah mi sandwich and my boyfriend got the chicken bah mi sandwich. Each are soaked in lemon grass, and are bursting with flavor. We also got the Vietnamese coffee, vegan style which has coconut instead of dairy, and that was amazing!! It's also a cold brew, so you definitely get a good dose of caffeine. I would come back just for that stuff alone! I would be happy coming back here every night for the rest of the trip! I'm still craving the bahn mi salad. It was, hands down, the best salad I've ever had. Such fresh, crisp variety of veggies combined with the tangy, warm honey sesame dressing is just to die for. I could have eaten that for every meal while I was in Moab. Being a non-drinker I really appreciated their variety of mocktails! Finally someone catering to a non-drinking crowd. Often I feel envious of drinks that sound amazing but have alcohol in them -- not here! I tried the Lady in Grey (being an earl grey fan) as well as the rosey roo and both were delicious. I really appreciate the effort in local sourcing (#localfusion) and absolutely LOVE that 98 Center makes a point to list where their ingredients come from and give shout outs to the farms that provide them. Growing up half Vietnamese in the Oklahoma City resettlement community offers a plethora of great Vietnamese food choices. But I've never had a portobello bahn mi (Vietnamese sandwich)... I was surprised it was so good, amazed it worked, and wishing I could have another! Even the bread was surprisingly good considering it wasn't exactly a baguette. My partner had the noodle salad (Bun Thit.. although they call it something entirely different) was also quite good. Again, with the portobello mushrooms it was amazing. Where do we even begin with this place. We looked forward to some Pho all day and the second we stepped into 98 Center the voice of an angel greeted us. For the next hour Cozy took the most amazing care of us, and if he was a special we would of only ordered him -- cause what a tall drink of yum!
