We've been travelling along the north east coast and settled in to a hotel in Foxboro, MA and this place happened to be on the opposite side of the parking lot. We wanted to sit down for lunch so we gave it a try. We're glad we did. They were busy at lunch time which is usually a good sign. We were seated pretty fast and had drinks in front of us in a couple of minutes. Our server, Marge, was a delight. She knows the menu well and was very helpful with making suggestions. She was also very friendly. We bonded on not being from here after she noticed my wife was wearing Chicago Bears apparel. The food was superb. Far superior to what I would have expected from a place that looks, from the outside, to be a sports bar. My wife had fish and chips. Locally sourced fresh schrod. You could taste the freshness. It was fried properly. Not at all greasy. They were still serving from their special summer menu too. It all looked great. I would have loved to try the lobster roll but I made a healthier choice of the scallops. I chose the baked option rather than fried. They were both seasoned and cooked perfectly. Once again the freshness came through. I can't possibly give a higher recommendation. If you're in the area and you're hungry this is the place to stop in for great food and great people. We felt like family before the plates made it to the table. I almost forgot to mention that it was also an excellent value. When you leave you will be neither hungry nor broke. read more

Came here because it's late and don't want to drive since I stay right next to the diner at Comfort inn. Establishment opens till 12:30am I sat down at around 11:30pm, I browse the menu for 15 minutes and there was no service. Upon going to ask the bar, is there no server? Bar tender told me that the kitchen was closed at 11:30...WTF!!!! At least post somewhere that food will no longer be served after 11:30pm If I could give this place a negative star I would! read more

This is my first ever review and I was hoping it would be for a place with stellar service but alas it was just the opposite. The entire experience was just a complete train wreck. A coworker and I walked into the bar area for lunch and sat down. No one was tending the bar for a whole 15 minutes. Finally the bar tender appeared and I ordered an Octoberfest. Upon taking the first sip I realize it had a lemony flavor to it: the keg lines were not cleaned since the Sam Summer ran out. The sides we ordered were incorrect and the food came out very late. The staff disorganization was clear from the moment we walked in. Overall quality of the food was mediocre at best. The food here is generally good. Service is pretty good but we always see new faces every time we go and most of the servers seem new. We often use their to-go service, and the food is 50/50 on wether I will have to heat it up by the time I get home (about 15 min). I wish they had some type of hot hold by their to go station to keep the meals hot instead of just leaving them on the non-heated shelves right by the doors. I used to be a big 99 fan when living in NE. But this visit was disappointing. I had the balsamic grilled chicken advertised as two marinated chicken breasts grilled in balsamic with 2 sides of choice. I chose baked potato and broccoli. What was served would be the equivalent of a short measure in liquor speak. A couple of boiled broccoli florets with no discernible effort to dress it up and a pretty dry potato with floury taste. Also the two chicken breasts were extremely thin, flat, overcooked and small - nothing like the buxom versions you might expect from the picture in the menu. I suspect that this chicken breast had been sliced in two and grilled. Ok it was on the $9.99 menu but still this type of shortchanging the customer reflects poorly on the manager and the chain. read more

I got 99 problems and customer service is one I love the food at 99. My major concern at any restaurant is CUSTOMER SERVICE. First off, I tip 20% EVERYWHERE and ALL THE TIME. In this case, I couldn't bring myself to tip the 20% for the service. We ordered and repeated that we had allergies to bacon. The food came back with bacon. i asked for tomatoes on my sandwich. No tomatoes. I finish my meal with a dessert and asked for walnuts and caramel. The waitress explained they didn't have walnuts. I told her we were just there two days ago and was served walnuts. When she came back to the table, she "realized" they do have walnuts. The check comes later and she explained how she had to charge me 98 cents for the walnuts and caramel. Interesting. The other waitress didn't charge me for that, nor did I wait so long for water refills. I had to think for 15 minutes or so if I'd pay the same 20% for this visit. I would only pay it to the chef if I could. I simply could not bring myself to do it, so I left a 10% tip instead. Could have used for something else. Not kool. read more

This used to be one of my favorite restaurants. The other night we took some out of town guests there for dinner. First off my husband's caesar salad was not a caesar. Made with iceberg lettuce, eggs, and tomato. His clam chowder no longer exists and the fish chowder was sub par. I ordered my favorite salmon just for you. This comes with a salad and cheese(no cheese) and the warm asparagus was on top of the salad. Which wilted the salad. When I mentioned that to the waitress. Her response was a put down on me. I have been here more times that I care to remember. This is a go to place for most of my friends and unfortunately I usually accompany them here. They never do your food right, if you get a burger it may be good, but I have absolutely NEVER had anything here that has made me say ""hmm, that was pretty good". They do have large draft beers which are usually good for when your going out with some friends and want to start the night there. I think this is probably the reason we actually still attend this box chain. Its a chain restaurant, the food is not good, the atmosphere is just that a chain restaurant. If you want to go out and see other people playing it ""safe"" and not doing anything fun culinary or cultural, by all means go here. I am still amazed at how much draw these chains have on people with their sub-par food and mediocre wait staff. read more

I like the 99. It's always been reliable tasty and good variety. Not sure what is wrong with this location I had seafood chowder that had curdled. Not good I ordered the macadamia nut crusted chicken which I is usually good. It was inedible. Too tough to chew and it was saturated in grease. Took my best friend and her husband out to dinner at the 99 last Friday night we only waited 10mins to be seated which was great given that it was a Friday night. Our waitress Cindy was welcoming and very pleasant the Appetizers and food was exceptional not one complaint I had the seafood plate with haddock, shrimp, fries and the chowder was on point!!! my friend had the fish n chips and her husband had the prime rib it was all good size portions that each one of us had to take food home. We also has dessert n coffee all I can say is that everything was great and I would definitely come here again and would recommend it. read more

The 99 has always been a reliable restaurant for my family. We love to come here because there's something for everyone, but their curbside pick is just not the move. We placed a curbside pickup order and we arrived at the pickup time, however, we waited over an hour and a half to receive our food... No one told us why or notified us that the wait would be this long. We sat in the parking lot and watched people who arrived much later than we did get their food right away. 1/10 would recommend for online order. read more

It was very busy so there was a wait to be seated. My mom had had knee replacement last year and is a bit unsteady at times. She attempted to sit on a backless barstool to wait for a table. As she did this the stool moved and my mother ended up in an elbow, wrist, face plant!! The staff immediately came to her aid and were so concerned for her well being!! The paramedics came and left after being reassured that it was "just" a fall! At this point the Manager , Louie Curran, pushed my mom's chair to our booth for dinner. The staff could not have been any more caring or comforting!! They brought ice bags of all sizes to accomodate the injuries!! We received our meals which were ALL DELICIOUS AND PERFECTLY PREPARED!! Whenever I am back in Foxboro I will most definitely be back to the 99 on 4 Fisher Street!! From the waitresses ( one of whom cut my mom's meat for her) to the bartender who kept coming over to check on us, to the Manager, EVERYONE was tremendous!! The only complaint I have about 99 is the hours of operation. I was in shock that the restaurant and bar closes at 11:30pm and a few of us were kicked out since the Boston Red Sox game took longer than expected Also, I went here for lunch and the lunch special menu had a good selection. This particular one is touch and go... I love the 99 restaraunt and have gone primarily to the Braintree one but have gone to this one many times; now that I live in this area I have gone there at least six times in the past month. I always get either the sirloin tips or in the summer months the lobster rolls. The lobster rolls are generous and worth the money. Sometimes I feel the 99 quality and quantity is going downhill (just as it has with most places these days), their mashed potatos used to be really good; now they seem like lumpy instant potatos; they'll be overly smooth like instant but still have lumps in them like home made. For the most part the service and food are good but one time about two summers ago I had hair in my lobster roll; the pick-up service is normally good but recently an order i called ahead for and was told 15 mins. took 45 mins. and sometimes they don't give you paper goods with the take out order. It stays busy in this one; they have a steady after work crowd, guests from the hotel next door (who are sometimes seedy looking) and its also very family oriented; many familes in the area go here before and after their kids sporting games. read more

The food honestly isn't amazing, but "the 9s" is our go to place for the beginning of Thursday Night Festivities and I love it. It's standard stuff. It tries to be a little more upscale than Applebee's, but if you peer into the kitchen, you can see people unwrapping entrees from plastic bags and plating them. Typical oven-free food. read more

The food took nearly half an hour to be served and was lukewarm at best--something that should not happen when the only necessary preparation is microwaving the food. Your staff , management team including every one make us go there every day """" it can get very expensive "" but , but Kimmie , your bartender ...... I don't have enough words to say about her!! I ran a major company in the area of 60+ employees , I wish I had 2or 3 Kimmie like her. . She is an unbelievable asset to your operation. I / we don't mean to sound like snoops but we visited the 99 once in a while and now we are there 5-6 nights a week. With all fairness, I , we can not forget Marc with a "C" and your certified training manager " Miranda " they are , all , every one of them are outstanding !! Came in last weekend before catching a concert at the Xfinity Center in Mansfield. We were told it would be about a twenty minute wait for a table, but were sat within five minutes! Our waitress was friendly, attentive, and recommended some great margaritas. I recommend the watermelon! We thought we might be cutting it close with the time, but service was so prompt that we still made it to the concert with plenty of time to wait in line for parking, do a little tailgating, and grab drinks before the show started. This is without exaggeration the busiest 99 I have ever been to. That being said, the food quality here is also the best of any 99 I've been to. I live nearby and have grabbed take out from here when in a rush. Never had a bad order and it's always been correct. My famil yand I have also eaten at the restaurant and even though it gets busy the staff handles it well! read more

We came in after a show at 10:30. It's open until 11:30. The sign outside clearly states "full menu available until 1/2 before close". We try to order food and the manager rudely says "our kitchen has been closed" and treated us like we were stupid. He then condescendingly explained that their kitchen closes early ? I didn't press the issue, but maybe he should adjust his attitude when the sign outside his establishment tells a different story. Would recommend you try Jake and Joes across the street for a better experience with more friendly staff. read more
