My boyfriend, boyfriend's son, and I went to dinner last night at the 99 in West Yarmouth. Here are the biggest things that happened: 1. I ordered the southwest fajita bowl with chicken, no jalapeños, Caesar dressing instead of chipotle sauce. It came out with chipotle sauce on it. The second one was okay but they didn't take out the jalapeños. 2. Boyfriend ordered the seafood trio with sweet potato fries. The fries were raw on the inside. The crumbs were burnt and the seafood was overcooked and rubbery. 3. Boyfriend's son ordered the steak (medium rare) with broccoli. The broccoli was cold and the steak was so rare he couldn't eat it. 4. The server didn't offer to make anything right. And he stood next to me watching me while I paid, which made me severely uncomfortable. I have been to other 99 restaurants that have been good but this one is terrible. read more

Food was okay. However, the service was amazing; Tom has got to be the most chill guy ever. He was so kind and fast with everything, filled drinks without us even having to ask, and some good humor. I'm very disappointed in the food. I went for a lobster Caesar-they said they didn't have that on the menu. The bartender ran to the manager who scratches his head. I mean, you have a lobster roll and you have salads, right? The romaine was rusty. They changed me for a lobster roll AND a caesar, and when I added steak tips, they came out overdone (and bad quality steak tips...chewy and full of tendons)and ANOTHER 15$. The ribs were a little pricey at 24 dollars per entry, but it really exceeded my expectations. Really tender BBQ ribs that almost fall off the bone, fries, coleslaw, and a honey role. I also had a really good frozen strawberry margarita. The seating was comfortable and clean. Service was also very good. This was our go to place in the 90s great apps great frozen drink especially the mudslide. Now the menu is definitely lacking more modern items. I could only find one item that was vegetarian it was the cauliflower tacos. Unfortunately it wasn't great basically an over done small piece of cauliflower deep fried so it basically had no texture just grease. I tried to get a grilled cheese and fries but it was only for kids she said. Even though we had a party of 8 people and everyone ordered apps a meal plus drinks she said she could only offer the cauliflower taco or a salad. So my only option was to order a side of plain veggies which weren't really veggies it was mostly peppers and onions and to a vegetarian thats more like spices. I'm was just basically looking for any grilled veggies in season. But all I could eat was a side salad side veggies. Please consider people who eat plant based foid. A simple rice bowl with seasoned grilled fresh veggies. Put a adult grilled cheese and fries on the menu. You can also add pasta and veggies since you already have shrimp scampii or a simple cheese and veggie quasadillia or flat bread. This was a horrible experience. We just left this 99 restaurant in yarmouth on 6/12. We were served our beer in a dirty glass. We tried to get the manager but the server wouldn't bring him over. We had to go and get the manger ourselves. Once we did it turned into a huge issue. The manager called us both liars. This was ridiculous for just one beer. The manager caused a scene at the restaurant for us and other customers. We just wanted to leave at this point. On top of this we had extremely slow service here. It is a shame we would even feel this way as we had high hopes to go there. We dont recommend as the manager leaves you no choice on not wanting to go to this place. read more

I am staying in an area where the Resorts do not have full kitchens. So I chose the 99 restuarant and ordered the delicious steak tips with mashed potatoes and broccoli. Do not order the spinach artichoke dip or pretzel bites. Dare I say the worst appetizer i've ever tried. Pretzel cheese tasted like something was really wrong with it. Spinach dip also was just weird, nor very spinachy too creamy, had a strange taste to it. My table did not even finish or eat apps they were so bad.French onion soup was good and our server was nice. I usually love the 99, I always sit at the bar get a few cocktails and some food. It's always a pleasure when I'm served by Jamie. However it was a rainy/snowy Thursday afternoon, the place was quiet only a few other patrons at the bar. My partner and I were greeted at the bar by "Debbie" she was great explaining the happy hour and some new food options. I ordered an espresso martini and my partner got the 23 ounce coors light on draft. Drinks were great, food came out and it was good food, however I had ask the bartender nicely for an extra side of ranch and another martini, I was ignored, we had both had empty glasses, about 10 minutes later Debbie comes over and asks my partner if he'd like another beer, he said yes, I asked for another drink myself but I was ignored yet again, he got his second beer but I had been ignored or "cut off" mind you it was lunch it was the first drink I've had all day, after she ignored me forever I finally got the check, the service towards me was very rude and uncalled for, I did not say anything rude or negative I was simply asking for another cocktail and she just kept ignoring me. I'm not one to leave a bad tip but the service was not it, I hope someone speaks to Debbie about her bartending skills and communication skills, I will not return when she is working. I'm always pleased about this 99 whenever I make my annual pilgrimage to the Cape. Food is always solid and there's a lot to choose from. I really enjoyed the fish tacos this time out. It's a good chain type sports bar/family themed pub. It's great for a casual dinner or lunch when you don't feel like dressing up and don't want anything fancy. The prices are very reasonable, too. I wish they'd expand their draft beer line up, and include the Cape Cod beers again. That would make the experience just about perfect. The restaurant is neat and clean as you would expect from this chain. The hostess did not leave a good impression at all we were not greeted at all and it seemed that we were inconveniencing her asking for a table. Our waitress Sylvia, however was a complete joy. My daughter ordered the French Onion Soup and I had the seafood chowder as appetizers. My daughter said her soup was delicious. My seafood chowder was thick and flavorful. My mother and I got the chicken Parm, my daughter got the kids pasta and my so got the junior cheeseburger. The portions were huge and very tasty. The breeding on the chicken parm was crunchy - just the way I like it. My daughter cleaned her plate and my mother enjoyed hers as well. No room for dessert, so I can't rate. 99 is very reasonably priced. Our chicken Parma were $9.99 each and the generous soup cups were $3.99. Kids eat free in October, so we got a super bargain. Well. The 99 is a chain, paper napkin establishment, so I do take that into consideration. We generally get take out therefore I haven't had an in-restaurant experience for a couple years. Food always seems pretty consistent, it's quite inexpensive and we do have our favorites. But. I went in with my daughter and her friend while they were home from college and I was pretty disappointed with the experience. Our server was nice enough when we saw her, we sat in an otherwise empty section of the restaurant. I saw her put our order in right away and brought out water. Food was brought out promptly, but we weren't checked on. The space between the wall and our booth was full of trash, popcorn, food and a babies pacifier. It was definitely not accumulated the couple hours before we got there and they had opened. I'm sure they must have a professional cleaning crew at night, but even if they don't those areas should be checked nightly by the closers. It was really uncomfortable eating there all around. So. Not bad, not good. Food is good, service was.. ok. I tipped well just because I know everyone has their off days, or maybe she had tables on the other side of the restaurant that I couldn't see I just think we'll stick to take out, it's better than eating Wendy's and can be roughly the same price.so there's that. read more

My friend and I went here first thing in the morning after New Year's Eve and I have to say I had such an amazing experience! Our waiter "Liv" was amazing!! She was extremely sweet and had a wonderful conversation with us. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for lunch or dinner in the area. Request Liv! You won't regret it! The food was fresh and hot when it arrived at the table. The amount of food we received was very generous. I would recommend getting the Fish taco from the "9.99" entree menu. The corn however was a different story. While I understand that frozen can be almost 50% more in cost than canned, it is well worth it. Simply charge a little more. The price was good too as well as the server. The atmosphere lacked a lot. Carpet worn and dirty, dated decor and music that made me think I was back in the '80's in my parents basement in the middle of a make out session. Service and everything was great, but while we were sitting at the bar facing the kitchen window I noticed two of the chefs both not wearing gloves while cooking. I was always under the impression that all chain restaurants were only going to be so-so when it came to food. This isn't the case here. The food is great. Staff is always super nice, and you see the same people working every time you go in. Looks like they retain their staff nicely. You can get popcorn or cheese and crackers to start, a nice plus if you are starving! Portions are more than ample. And yes, I had checked the 99 before, but it had literally no vegetarian options. So imagine my delight when, in desperation, I looked them up again and saw that they had added a few choices. Nothing big, mind you, but there is a veggie burger, an...open-faced veggie burger, and a pasta entree. Plus a few apps (mozzarella sticks! told you!) Still, that was all the incentive I needed, and I don't regret checking it out at all. The location is excellent (parking lot is a little weird) and the atmosphere totally chill. Waiter was a robot. He was pleasant enough, but definitely a robot. S'cool. I'm not some anti-robot bigot. Food was decent-but-dull. Exactly what I was looking for! I ate every bite and got dessert! Drinks looked really yummy and I'm annoyed I didn't save room for a cocktail. Next time! Overall, if you're visiting the Cape, I don't think the 99 is really something special for vacation (unless you have picky kids or something).
