I'll sure miss this place when they close next month in July 2026 especially their yummy scuffins which is like a scone/muffin! Scuffins and the other desserts are baked daily and if you're lucky enough to go early in the morning then you get what you want. I just love the cheddar, bacon & chive scuffins and the matcha with white chocolate or the everything scuffin with cream cheese were good too! A lot customers come here for their morning coffee or drink. My work friend was going to treat me a dessert recently for my birthday but I requested this instead since they are closing soon and got to get 2 of my bacon, cheddar & chive scuffins!! If you haven't tried here, you have to try the scuffins before they close! They may have one day old scuffin for a good price!
Same great service and ambiance. Have tried a variety of their scones. Highly recommended. They are all good, but the everything bagel is one of my fav.
HOOOO their bacon cheddar biscuit is da best ever. I always get this one. The matcha biscuit, also slay. Not too sweet, very balanced. HEAT IT UP. The white chocolate becomes ooey gooey and melts into the biscuit while the chips on top stay crispy. I just wish the matcha flavor was stronger. The banana biscuit was good, but the banana vibes were very subtle. I would probably skip this one.
I got a hot black sesame latte and it was so good, I could really taste the black sesame! The drink itself was smooth as well since sometimes when black sesame drinks are made, they can get a bit gritty. They do have a cold option as well. When we went in there, the baristas and cashier were cool and friendly! I asked whether the flavor is strong with hot or cold and they gave a definite answer! My sister got the Cloud 9 trio which is an espresso, cortado and a choice for the third one of either a sparkling drink, cold brew or something else I don't remember. My sister got the cold brew. IT'S A LOT OF CAFFEINE so prepare yourself, coming from the person who got a non-caffeine drink. Atmosphere - Your typical coffee shop vibes with a few tables and the mix of people working on their laptops at a table, some people talking and drinking their drinks and people coming to grab a drink and head out. They do have bar seating when you walk into the right. I don't remember how many people but at least 4 seats. Service - Cool and friendly, they know their drinks. Cost - My black sesame latte was around $7 - 9 and the cloud 9 trio was around $9 - $12. I don't exactly remember so that's the range accounting for if you tip. Parking - It's in SALT so you can park in the structure or do metered street parking. Location - In SALT around the corner from Morning Brew, right under the SALT sign. I would definitely come here again to try their other coffees AND to get a pastry because all those pastries looked SO GOOD!

Food/drinks: coffee is solid and strong, but you MUST come here for their bacon cheddar scruffin!! Atmosphere: cute! Lots of seating inside but even more outside in the SALT plaza Service: super friendly!!! It was a nice start to the morning! Price: as expected
9Bar was recommended to me from a friend and it was a great recommendation. I loved their scone muffins and that they are made in house. The employees were so sweet and lovely to talk to. I got the Iced Mac latte, which was really good and unique. Do check out this spot and get a latte and scone muffin :)
Every Saturday, my hubby and I have the wonderful decision to make about whether or not to eat breakfast out. There are times we want something hearty but there are other Saturdays when a cup of Joe with pastries is the perfect answer. When pastries tug on us, 9Bar HNL is always a candidate on the list of choices for us. Located in SALT Kakaako, there's lots of parking paid in the lot and in the street. They have limited indoor and outdoor seating. But, there is outdoor seating all over the SALT complex. Service is wonderfully patient, friendly and helpful. What a nice way to start our weekend morning! The ambiance? It's a coffee shop where people are enjoying a delightful start to their day with good food, coffee, and conversation with the sounds and aroma of coffee preparation in the air. We love the scuffin! What's a scuffin? It's the merge of a scone and a muffin! The scuffins are not too sweet. It's just right for us. All of their flavors are wonderful. I typically go for the sweet and hubby likes the savory. So, we get to taste the best of both worlds! Cream cheese you say? I have tried almost all of their scuffins with cream cheese but personally, when I can't make a decision I choose blueberry or mango. I love my scuffin warm. It's soft on the inside but I love the slightly crunchy edges! For my better half, his fav is the bacon scuffin. He truly believes everything is better with bacon. They also have a chocolate sandwich cookie filled with peanut butter. That calls me every time I see it. I have not tried, yet. So tempting but I am trying to be good by limiting myself to one pastry per week. I will have to give in (maybe during Christmas) sometime soon. They also have specials so it's a good idea to follow them on Facebook. As for their coffees, we have yet to be disappointed. I usually have one of their iced lattes and my hubby enjoys their pour over. There's no doubt we will be back.
Every single time I come here I always feel welcomed by the staff and they're always attentive and helping you with a smile. I really appreciate that and it's one of the reasons I enjoy coming here over the other cafe options at SALT (there are many). My go-to is definitely the scuffins, and from my experience their drinks have also been well-made. I have tried their matcha and regular latte and have never been disappointed! I noticed a lot of locals come here as regulars. I definitely also see myself as a regular here as well lol.

Always love going to 9Bar! My favourite are the scone muffins. The bacon chive cheddar is the bomb and I like the matcha white chocolate too.
Im a huge lover of Hojicha lattes (roasted green tea) whether it's here or in Japan! This is my first review of 9bar but not my first time here and definitely won't be my last! Located at SALT, they changed parking in the structure and outside lot from ticketing to camera monitoring. You'll have to pay online using a QR code and use QR validation as well. They monitor via license plate--but not sure what happens if you don't have one. Service is wonderful, everyone is friendly and seems to know the regulars on a first name basis! They're also so efficient and helpful with the menu if you need suggestions. I just returned last week from Japan and was missing my daily hojicha lattes, so I stopped by here in the morning and ordered it iced with half sweetness and oat milk. Also grabbed a matcha and white chocolate scruffin which was warmed and delicious. Definitely satisfied the cravings. It's a small space with a few tables and counter seating. Good to study, can get a bit chilly, music choice is great but can get a bit loud like any cafe. When you're done, make sure to do your part and take care of your trash while returning any cups to the cart.
Stopped by 9Bar HNL in the morning to hang out with a friend and really enjoyed it! I got an iced latte and a blueberry cream cheese scone. The scone wasn't too sweet, just right, and had a nice texture. The latte was delicious and well-made, and I appreciated that they offer lots of syrup flavors and milk alternatives to customize your drink. The cashier was super friendly and kind, which made the visit even better. The ambiance was great: bright, modern, and welcoming. It was definitely busy and a bit crowded when we went, and there weren't any seats available inside, but we managed to find a spot outside to sit and chat. Overall, such a nice local café to grab coffee, relax, and catch up with friends. I'll definitely be back!

I heard many great things about 9bar as a local foodie/photographer from Maui, and I'm happy to report that it lives up to the hype. Their Matcha "Scuffins" (Scone/Muffin) were perfect to pair with their "Jump Start Latté" , which has Kerry Gold Butter and MCL Oil. The place has seating for both indoors and outdoors, giving customers options to enjoy their morning food and drink. Breakfast in Kaka'ako, Honolulu, Hawaii... For a long time, I wanted to go to 9Bar HNL. It's kind of hidden because it's a cozy, quiet nook where there are a few small tables to get some work done and several bar stools at a counter for a quick task... Like writing a Yelp review... Haha! PARKING: there are free street parking stalls on Keawe Street, but those are usually taken. There is metered street parking, but, perhaps the best option is the SALT parking structure which is free for the first hour. Enter from Keawe Street. SERVICE: super intuitive! The gal at the cash register asked if I wanted my beverage hot or cold? It's a warm day - let's get it cold! She also asked if I wanted my scruffin (scone/muffin) warmed up. Yes, please! Another good question was: takeout or dine in? Wow. Excellent! FOOD: I ordered the Kinako (roasted soy bean) latte with Oat Milk. It was creamy delicious and rich enough so that I didn't need any sweetener! The Bacon Cheddar Chive scruffin was everything I read about! It was crisp on the outside and soft/moist on the inside with savory bacon and cheese flavor and a hint of chive essence! Yum!!! Me and my husband has been hearing about this place, so we finally went and check it out twice. This place is tuck away in a little corner, nice location parking is good especially coming early in the morning. This place has a limited sitting area inside but they also have few tables and chair outside, the pastries were good we had some blueberries cheesecake scone, cranberry lemon scone as well, they are very moist and big enough to share. Service wise, if you don't know just ask they know their coffee well, very friendly, very welcoming all of the staff just have an energy that they enjoy what they are doing. read more

I think I found a new fave coffee shop to go to! Located in SALT Kakaako is 9Bar HNL. Serving a unique variety of coffee, teas, and food! It's so delicious! ***What I ordered ~ **Espresso Mule ~ (9/10) The most unique coffee drink I've ever had! This tastes almost exactly like a Moscow Mule but with an espresso aftertaste. You may think it's weird, but I highly recommend this drink if you're a fan of Moscow Mules! **Aloha Bowl ~ (8/10) Are you looking for something hardy & savory? This aloha bowl comes with homemade sausage patty, poached egg, and kimchee! Everything tasted so good together! My favorite part was dipping and mixing the sausage patty with the poached egg. It's a nice burst of savory flavors on your tastebuds! Overall, My boyfriend and I enjoyed this place. I loved how the coffee they serve isn't your typical latte that you see often. And also the staff was really friendly and knowledgeable of the menu! We will definitely be back again to try something new! read more
Goooodmorning!! Scones! Definitely a must have! I decided to come here this morning to try out their Iced Hojicha Latte ~ (Roasted Matcha) It was Okay- Got a little sweetener in it which was great. It was already pre-made so they just poured it into the cup and added milk and ice. Flavor wasn't as strong as Daily Whisk Matcha but still great to have this near by in town. Definitely try it out if your ever in Salt Kakaako. I'll definitely be back to try out their coffees. Food? Highly recommend trying! The scones are great & they have many breakfast options. The service was nice. The lady that rang me up was very friendly & knowledgeable on the menu. The staff was very laid back but still made drinks as they go. Intrigued by their menu, I've had 9Bar HNL bookmarked for awhile. Their scuffin and unique Japanese drink options always caught my eye. I've been craving hojicha for quite some time now so thought it'd be the perfect opportunity to venture out, get my fix, and try this cafe! My friend and I came an hour before closing. I've never had or heard of a scuffin before so I was super excited to finally try one! Although I wanted to try their Matcha White Chocolate scuffin, the only ones available at the time were the Blueberry Cream Cheese and Ensaymada. I ended up getting the Blueberry Cream Cheese Scuffin warmed. The scuffin was amazing--it wasn't too dense like some pastries. Instead, it was light as a pillow with the perfect amount of sweetness. The blueberries were on top and baked in and there were small chunks of cream cheese inside. I also ordered a Roasted Matcha Latte with Oat Milk also known as Hojicha. The drink was nutty, light, and creamy from the oat milk. Everything at 9Bar HNL hit the spot and was the perfect afternoon pick me up. Service was fast and friendly and all items are for take out--but there are plenty of tables outside. Next time I'd like to come in earlier to try to snag their other scuffin flavors and try the Kinako Latte! read more

Coffee is really good. Not too sweet and they do have unique seasonals like the kinako or the different types of Japanese syrups. I never thought of putting sports and coffee together but the ambience works well for them! read more

Decided to try the seasonal special - orange cold foam, on top of a cold brew. Didn't know what to expect but it was good! A little bitter cuz of the orange but delicious nonetheless. Want to go back and try a signature drink next time. read more
Excellent food and service. Nice range of the expected coffee types, along with various syrups to suite many tastes. Iced coffee is where they do well, and also have tasty non coffee latte such as matcha, goma, and hoji. Scuffins are the best. Unique and tasty, can't be quite replicated. Favorite is the bacon and chive, matcha white chocolate, and the everything bagel. Cali bowl is a tasty and well balanced breakfast, with the breakfast burrito just being the cali bowl in burrito form. Very filling. Service is always great, very friendly and a joy to actually experience and order. read more

I've always wanted to try 9bar but could never find a good time to stop by while they were open (they seem to close very early). I finally went for the first time the other day and was surprised that they serve a hojicha latte since I haven't seen another coffee shop on Oahu that has that on their menu. I got a iced hojicha latte with a little bit of sweetener and a shot of espresso for an extra kick. The hojicha is tasty and the espresso was strong, but it wasn't too bitter where it made the latte taste weird. They also have a wide variety of scones with interesting flavors. I tried the white chocolate matcha. I'm not sure if it was anything special, but I'd come back to try the other flavors. The staff here is also really friendly. The only cons are that it's a little pricey and there isn't a seating area inside, although there are a few tables outside. I'll definitely keep coming back for their hojicha lattes, I just wish they were open later so I could stop by more often! read more

We came here on a weekday morning and beat the line. This location is in the middle of a bunch of other food/coffee spots near downtown. We were worried about parking, but it was super easy. Just park in their parking structure and you get the first hour or two free, I believe. We ordered a Hojicha Latte, Daily Brew coffee, granola yogurt bowl, and a breakfast burrito. We got our drinks pretty quickly. They ran out of their daily brew coffee and gave the last bit of it to us before brewing a new batch. The barista poured us a new cup because of that, which was really nice of her. My hojicha latte was good, not overly sweetened, and not super strong. Breakfast burrito and my yogurt bowl was decent; nothing great, but wasn't bad either. read more

Cute little coffee shop inside SALT Kakaako. Staff are very friendly and easy to have a conversation with while waiting for your coffee. They sell a variety of coffees as well as food to eat. Cookies, scones, tacos and many more! We decided to go with a 12 ounce iced vanilla latte ($5.50), everything scuffin scone ($4.25) and tacos ($13.50). We opted to get our scone heated up as well. The latte came out first. It was good but nothing special. The everything scuffing scone was delicious! Loved the cream cheese inside the scone as well as the peppery/garlic taste. My favorite was the tacos. It was LOADED. There was a total of 3. The chicken was grilled to perfection. It was topped with avocado, onions and cilantro. It was a bit messy to eat but totally worth it! Definitely would recommend if you're looking for a quick bite or wanting some coffee. Prices are pretty fair. Staff are very welcoming and quick to get your order out. read more

Gotta support local! Anytime we're in Kaka'ako and want a quick grab n go, we head to 9Bar HNL! There is usually a line, so if you're in a rush, call in and pay for your order ahead of time. That way you just go to the front for a quick pick-up! We LOVE their lattes, cappuccino, cortado, espresso, americano and nitro cold brew! Brewed the way we enjoy coffee! We stick to our favorites: scuffin, 9Bar Burritos and cookies! All proven to exceed expectations! Staff nice and friendly! Also pet-friendly atmosphere! One of our favorite places! Two thumbs up!!! Oh how they set the Bar so high it's insane! 9Bar HNL is a cafe in SALT that serves up your typical morning faves with a twist. Today it was Matcha soda with a Bacon, Cheddar and Chive Scuffin yum!! Yup Scuffin a Scone/Muffin and it sure is it has more the look of a scone but super light and airy on the inside such a creative breakfast bite for sure. I never make it in time here as they do cater to the morning crowds but it's a definitely worth the extra time I need to leave in order to make it here. Come and start your day here at SALT the first hour of parking is absolutely free no validation needed for that get your fix here at chill and at the Barn, lots of seating there...what a good morning! We were in the Kaka'ako area and were looking for a light snack before lunch and happened to walk by 9Bar. I hadn't heard of it before but looked at the menu and was intrigued! I got the kinako latte (iced) - the cashier explained that it's a coffee latte with kinako mixed in, whereas the black sesame latte doesn't have any coffee in it. I needed some caffeine so opted for the kinako latte. I forgot ask for it "less sweet" but when I got it, was pleasantly surprised, it wasn't very sweet at all (phew) but had the right amount of nuttiness from the kinako. My husband (who doesn't drink coffee) really enjoyed this drink too! We also got the strawberry mango cream cheese scone as a last minute purchase. It was sooo good! Perfect texture, not too sweet, and bits of gooey cream cheese mixed in. Yum! No clue how they make this but I'm sold. Can't wait to come back and try more of their menu items :) read more

I love coming to 9bar for their scuffins, Okinawan sweet potatoe mochi, dirty chai, and cold brew. If you come within the last hour the scuffins are half off, they also sell discounted day old ones. The spicy chai masala is made in house, has ginger granted on it, and just the best flavor. Always love adding a shot or two of espresso. The coffee is always strong and a perfect pick me up. read more

Obsessed with the bacon cheddar scuffin. I'd eat it everyday if i could. Unfortunately the matcha latte wasnt as good. I got with with whole milk and 75% sweetness. It tasted like cheese or mozzarella. I can't explain it. I'll stick to the scuffins. read more
Went to 9Bar HNL close to closing and their selection of the Scuffins were slim picking. I did get my Bacon Cheddar Chive! My wife got the Birthday Cake Scuffin. The Birthday Cake Scuffin wasn't too sweet and what I liked was that it had white chocolate inside -went good with coffee. My wife couldn't finish it because it became too sweet for her. Of course, she wasn't chasing it down with coffee. One thing I noticed, though, is that I think there's a problem with their coffee cup/lids; they leak right where the lid meets the cup. Warning, I advise you NOT to wear a light colored top. I've stained a couple of shirts already. I've adapted, though, and take along another (insulated) cup to transfer the coffee into. read more
Delicious scones, and tasty coffee! Located in the middle of the SALT district, this spot is the epitome of a hipster cafe, perfect for a little pick me up. My friend turned me on to the scones, and knowing how picky I am, I didn't have high expectations them. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the scones are superb! I got the blueberry scone and it was warm, moist, and melted in my mouth. I will be sure to visit again! read more

I came to 9Bar HNL early on a Saturday morning. There is a parking lot shared my multiple retailers, luckily it was early in the morning so we were able to snag a spot. When we arrived at 9Bar HNL the line was out the door, but moved quickly. Staff were friendly and greeted us as soon as we entered. I ordered the Cali Bowl which comes with Bacon, Roasted Potatoes, Poached Eggs, Housemade Guacamole, Sour Cream, Queso Fresno Cheese, side of Salsa, Cilantro and Sweet Onion. This was one of my favorite breakfast spots during my last trip to Hawaii. This bowl was SO GOOD! All ingredients were fresh and cooked/prepped to perfection. The Bacon was so crispy and juicy, the Guacamole was very creamy and went perfectly with the Poached Eggs. I was supposed to split this bowl with my husband as a light breakfast.... but it was so good I ended up greedily eating about 75% of it :P I regret not being able to make it back here to grab another bowl! I would highly recommend 9Bar HNL if you are craving fresh, somewhat healthy options for breakfast/brunch :) read more
