I'll sure miss this place when they close next month in July 2026 especially their yummy scuffins which is like a scone/muffin! Scuffins and the other desserts are baked daily and if you're lucky enough to go early in the morning then you get what you want. I just love the cheddar, bacon & chive scuffins and the matcha with white chocolate or the everything scuffin with cream cheese were good too! A lot customers come here for their morning coffee or drink. My work friend was going to treat me a dessert recently for my birthday but I requested this instead since they are closing soon and got to get 2 of my bacon, cheddar & chive scuffins!! If you haven't tried here, you have to try the scuffins before they close! They may have one day old scuffin for a good price!
Same great service and ambiance. Have tried a variety of their scones. Highly recommended. They are all good, but the everything bagel is one of my fav.
HOOOO their bacon cheddar biscuit is da best ever. I always get this one. The matcha biscuit, also slay. Not too sweet, very balanced. HEAT IT UP. The white chocolate becomes ooey gooey and melts into the biscuit while the chips on top stay crispy. I just wish the matcha flavor was stronger. The banana biscuit was good, but the banana vibes were very subtle. I would probably skip this one.
I got a hot black sesame latte and it was so good, I could really taste the black sesame! The drink itself was smooth as well since sometimes when black sesame drinks are made, they can get a bit gritty. They do have a cold option as well. When we went in there, the baristas and cashier were cool and friendly! I asked whether the flavor is strong with hot or cold and they gave a definite answer! My sister got the Cloud 9 trio which is an espresso, cortado and a choice for the third one of either a sparkling drink, cold brew or something else I don't remember. My sister got the cold brew. IT'S A LOT OF CAFFEINE so prepare yourself, coming from the person who got a non-caffeine drink. Atmosphere - Your typical coffee shop vibes with a few tables and the mix of people working on their laptops at a table, some people talking and drinking their drinks and people coming to grab a drink and head out. They do have bar seating when you walk into the right. I don't remember how many people but at least 4 seats. Service - Cool and friendly, they know their drinks. Cost - My black sesame latte was around $7 - 9 and the cloud 9 trio was around $9 - $12. I don't exactly remember so that's the range accounting for if you tip. Parking - It's in SALT so you can park in the structure or do metered street parking. Location - In SALT around the corner from Morning Brew, right under the SALT sign. I would definitely come here again to try their other coffees AND to get a pastry because all those pastries looked SO GOOD!

Food/drinks: coffee is solid and strong, but you MUST come here for their bacon cheddar scruffin!! Atmosphere: cute! Lots of seating inside but even more outside in the SALT plaza Service: super friendly!!! It was a nice start to the morning! Price: as expected
9Bar was recommended to me from a friend and it was a great recommendation. I loved their scone muffins and that they are made in house. The employees were so sweet and lovely to talk to. I got the Iced Mac latte, which was really good and unique. Do check out this spot and get a latte and scone muffin :)
Every Saturday, my hubby and I have the wonderful decision to make about whether or not to eat breakfast out. There are times we want something hearty but there are other Saturdays when a cup of Joe with pastries is the perfect answer. When pastries tug on us, 9Bar HNL is always a candidate on the list of choices for us. Located in SALT Kakaako, there's lots of parking paid in the lot and in the street. They have limited indoor and outdoor seating. But, there is outdoor seating all over the SALT complex. Service is wonderfully patient, friendly and helpful. What a nice way to start our weekend morning! The ambiance? It's a coffee shop where people are enjoying a delightful start to their day with good food, coffee, and conversation with the sounds and aroma of coffee preparation in the air. We love the scuffin! What's a scuffin? It's the merge of a scone and a muffin! The scuffins are not too sweet. It's just right for us. All of their flavors are wonderful. I typically go for the sweet and hubby likes the savory. So, we get to taste the best of both worlds! Cream cheese you say? I have tried almost all of their scuffins with cream cheese but personally, when I can't make a decision I choose blueberry or mango. I love my scuffin warm. It's soft on the inside but I love the slightly crunchy edges! For my better half, his fav is the bacon scuffin. He truly believes everything is better with bacon. They also have a chocolate sandwich cookie filled with peanut butter. That calls me every time I see it. I have not tried, yet. So tempting but I am trying to be good by limiting myself to one pastry per week. I will have to give in (maybe during Christmas) sometime soon. They also have specials so it's a good idea to follow them on Facebook. As for their coffees, we have yet to be disappointed. I usually have one of their iced lattes and my hubby enjoys their pour over. There's no doubt we will be back.
Every single time I come here I always feel welcomed by the staff and they're always attentive and helping you with a smile. I really appreciate that and it's one of the reasons I enjoy coming here over the other cafe options at SALT (there are many). My go-to is definitely the scuffins, and from my experience their drinks have also been well-made. I have tried their matcha and regular latte and have never been disappointed! I noticed a lot of locals come here as regulars. I definitely also see myself as a regular here as well lol.

Always love going to 9Bar! My favourite are the scone muffins. The bacon chive cheddar is the bomb and I like the matcha white chocolate too.
Im a huge lover of Hojicha lattes (roasted green tea) whether it's here or in Japan! This is my first review of 9bar but not my first time here and definitely won't be my last! Located at SALT, they changed parking in the structure and outside lot from ticketing to camera monitoring. You'll have to pay online using a QR code and use QR validation as well. They monitor via license plate--but not sure what happens if you don't have one. Service is wonderful, everyone is friendly and seems to know the regulars on a first name basis! They're also so efficient and helpful with the menu if you need suggestions. I just returned last week from Japan and was missing my daily hojicha lattes, so I stopped by here in the morning and ordered it iced with half sweetness and oat milk. Also grabbed a matcha and white chocolate scruffin which was warmed and delicious. Definitely satisfied the cravings. It's a small space with a few tables and counter seating. Good to study, can get a bit chilly, music choice is great but can get a bit loud like any cafe. When you're done, make sure to do your part and take care of your trash while returning any cups to the cart.
Stopped by 9Bar HNL in the morning to hang out with a friend and really enjoyed it! I got an iced latte and a blueberry cream cheese scone. The scone wasn't too sweet, just right, and had a nice texture. The latte was delicious and well-made, and I appreciated that they offer lots of syrup flavors and milk alternatives to customize your drink. The cashier was super friendly and kind, which made the visit even better. The ambiance was great: bright, modern, and welcoming. It was definitely busy and a bit crowded when we went, and there weren't any seats available inside, but we managed to find a spot outside to sit and chat. Overall, such a nice local café to grab coffee, relax, and catch up with friends. I'll definitely be back!

Cute place, subpar coffee. Nitro cold brew tastes like regular ice coffee that's sour and watered down, and you're paying a Ka'akako premium for it. Place is busy around 8:30am on a Sunday morning. They do have some interesting pastries w/ an Asian flare. I can see the appeal of this place - grab your morning pastry and coffee, sit at the bench outside and enjoy the day. I just can't tolerate the quality. read more

Very cute little coffee spot at SALT kakaako. Not that much variety on coffees, nonetheless very strong and I loved it! Their display of scruffins are to die for. Each one looks so amazing. I had the Cali Bowl and it was the perfect blend of healthy and filling. There was plenty of bacon and potatoes and the poached eggs were perfect! read more

My go to on the weekend for brunch. You can always find me here with a matcha latte, 9bar burrito with bacon (YOU HAVE TO GET IT WITH BACON!), and an oatmeal raisin cookie. I want to try their other hot food options as well, but I can't seem to stray from the burrito. Note: Their kitchen closes one hour before the shop closes. You can also call in your order to shorten your wait time. Oh ya! and the first hour of parking at SALT is freeee!! So you probably won't even need a validation for your parking. read more

My partner at work had recommend this spot since we were in the area and I'm glad she did! This hidden gem in Salt at our Kakaako is a must try spot! Just around the corner from morning brew, you'll find a little hole in the wall shop with a variety of scones, food items, and drinks. This morning I tried the "everything scone" and the "bacon, cheddar, and chive scone". THEY WERE DELICIOUS! Moist all the way through and it was obvious that they are baked fresh everyday. Unfortunately I didn't get a pic of the bacon scone because by the time I realized I forgot to take it... it was gone haha. As far as the parking situation goes, there is an ample amount of street parking and you can also opt to park in the structure. I highly recommend this place, check it out! read more
"Think we found our new breakfast spot." - hubs Coffee is super nice and reasonably priced. I saw a nitro affagato and had such good envy. Me- ooooo bubbly water. Hahaha. I was pleasantly surprised. What a neat contrast to hot coffee. We had the Cali bowl - and agree with April L. I would have loved more guac....but that's just my love affair with Avo. We also ordered the Aloha Bowl - so nice!! Since we are not meat eaters-they sub black beans. It's delicious. The eggs were poached perfect. And the flavors...wow. The vibe is super calm and so easy to hang out at. There are outlets under the bench seats make it possible to stay all day. I mean what else would you need, electrical power, food power, and caffeine. Also getting scuffins to go. - because I'm too full to eat them here. But sooooo yum. read more
Overall, I like the place but since coffee is the most important thing, I probably won't go out of my way to return. I found the staff to be very kind and friendly, the food to be yummy (a fresh-out-of-the-oven matcha scuffing), but the coffee just was ok. That is not to say that they don't do a good job of making it (I just got a cup of the brew of the day), but they don't seem to like dark roasted coffee beans. When I asked for a dark roast the response seemed as though it was a philosophical choice to NOT use dark roasted beans. Fair enough, but I don't like medium roasts. I was there to catch up with a friend so I did give it a try and drank maybe half of my 8 oz. cup. Medium roast = rocket fuel! So, I am well-caffeinated but did not enjoy the coffee. The matcha scuffin is another story. THAT was very nice. A note of warning: be on the alert for those tiny finch birdies that look at you innocently from the ground. They WILL try to snatch your food from your hand if given the chance! read more

9Bar HNL is possibly the best coffee in the SALT/Kakaako area for working business professionals and curious patrons strolling trendy neighborhood shops. While I was tempted to flip open the laptop in Starbucks or (overpriced) Morning Brew, 9Bar HNL delivers with genuinely good; NON-watered down coffee, consistent service, and the ability to please without trying too hard. PROS -eclectic and unique selection of baked goods, made-to-order breakfast bows/burritos/tacos. The "scuffin" (part muffin, part scone) is a savory opportunity to sit down and enjoy the outdoors that SALT plentifully provides in the area. -the "pull" on the espresso by the baristas are usually on-point, consistent, and bold. Have yet to have a bad cup of lattes. -Cost is reasonable for what one would expect from a coffee shop. $5 lattes/ $4 baked goods. -Service friendly/efficient -Atmosphere is a trendy contemporary/modern and industrial/urban feel that transports you out of the cliche coffee shop vibe. -SALT has plenty of parking and is extremely walkable if you're in the area. CONS -Their hours are limited on the weekdays/weekends; last I checked, they closed at noon. -No indoor seating available! Best to enjoy the outdoors when coming here. read more

Wanted something quick and simple and we got it! These scuffins are to die for. Must have. So perfectly crumbly and light. It is amazing. The bacon cheddar is like a whole meal in your hand! And it's filling all right! The matcha was yummy too. I can't wait to try all the flavors one day!!! The Cali bowl was sooo yummy. I love their thick cut bacon!!! And their eggs are cooked so perfectly. I was not expecting that from a small coffee shop. My burrito was amazing. That salsa is just fire!!! I literally ate all my salsa. It was just too good to not eat. I'd go back just for that salsa! Haha. read more

By far my favorite 'on the go' QUALITY breakfast item (California Bowl) within a 5mile radius. You have option of chicken carnitas or sausage instead of bacon. And Rice vs potatoes for starch. But theres something about this poached egg..truely perfection. The salsa melds everything together. I got a delicious coffee with oat milk and loved it! Also got a blueberry scruffin and a matcha mochi dessert thing for my wife. My wife said the scruffin was dry but then she put it in the microwave for a few seconds and said it was really good. I'm thinking this is 4.5 stars but I'm rounding up. Great to see oat milk being offered! I was tempted to ask for macadamia nut milk just so I could look really shocked that they don't offer macadamia nut milk and out-hipster the hipsters. As I get older I'm feeling like kakaako is more of a younger person's place to be, but I think during the daylight hours it's okay for us older folks to be out and about amongst the younger generation. 9bar had some great food and coffee options. For food I ordered the breakfast burrito (came whole, so I tore it for the photo). It was delicious, however I found it lacking salt - and sadly they did not have any when I asked. Hubby got the Aloha bowl, which was the best item of the day! The house made sausage was delish. For coffee, we got the nitro cold brew, splash of cream and caramel. It was good, but not the best cold brew I've had. read more

I'm not in love with 9Bar's drinks, but their food is always tasty. A big draw is their "scuffins;" what they tout as half scone, half muffin. Plenty of flavors to choose from; birthday cake is my favorite! They also have hot food and it's decent for a coffee shop. This last time I got 9Bar tacos. Surprisingly tasty. I've also had the breakfast burrito and it's good too. Prices are reasonable. Plenty of outside seating is available and the atmosphere is cool since it's at SALT Kakaako. If you can, go on the weekdays since weekends get super busy. read more
I'm in love with 9Bar. Everything from their amazing staff members, to the creative scuffins, and their yummy coffee choices. This is a place that I've been going almost weekly for the past 5 months. I've brought my boyfriend, my sisters, and my friends. We all have made this one of our go-to spots for breakfast and coffee. They provide outdoor seating with a few tables, but there's also many spots around SALT as well. No indoor seating due to COVID. Great vibe and music while you wait in line. Coffee: I've tried numerous drinks from here but my favs are the roasted matcha latte, the 9Bar blend, and the manual brews where you can choose beans from different origins. The barista Kaeden helped me pick out my new fav drink :) They also have a black sesame latte, which I wish I could love, but was pretty sweet and nutty. My sisters and I normally love black sesame, but we weren't a fan. Also, they don't have a regular cold brew. There's a nitro cold brew, but otherwise, the closest thing would be an iced manual brew. It's a little watered down as expected but still hits the spot! Baked Goodies: Where do I even begin! "HOME TO THE SCUFFINS" is their lil slogan on Instagram and it's definitely something to remember. My favs are the matcha white chocolate, the everything with cream cheese, and the blueberry with cream cheese. These aren't super sweet so I could eat the whole thing without getting tired of them. And trust me, you won't want to share. They also have other goodies such as the Okinawa sweet potato mochi which I haven't tried yet, or the PB cake! It's definitely sweet but full of PB-chocolatey goodness. Food: I've had their Cali bowl, Aloha bowl, and the forklift... All amazing in their own ways but I always come back for the forklift! Two poached eggs, sour cream, house-made guac, thick slices of bacon, and your choice of the everything or bacon/chive/cheddar scuffin. You can also sub the bacon for sausage or chicken carnitas ($1). The bacon is amazing. I never thought bacon was worth it to order but 9Bar has thick, crispy, and super yummy bacon. They also offer tacos and a burrito which I haven't tried yet since I can't sway from the forkwich. They validate parking but if you pick up and leave within the hour, it's completely free. There's also street parking available. Doggy friendly. Merchandise to buy which includes some with their brand (tshirts, hats, totes), and some coffee stuff (cups, scales, grinders, etc). Make sure to come by, especially for their half-off day old scuffins in the morning! :) read more

Great place for breakfast! I got an iced matcha tea, Cali bowl, and a chocolate chip cookie. Everything tasted amazing, and the service was quick! The cali bowl was super filling. I asked for no bacon and the cashier suggested putting in black beans instead, which I'm glad I did! It came with a salsa, which really brought the whole bowl together. The chocolate chip cookie was a perfect way to end the meal. I love that they are taking steps to become more eco-friendly. The iced matcha tea I got came with no plastic cap/straw to reduce waste, and they have a jar of free stainless steel straws for customers to take. There is ample seating outside (at least on Sunday) and I would definitely recommend stopping by if you are in the area! read more

I've been wanting to try this place for a while! It's a nice little coffee shop inside SALT Kaka'ako. I tired the hot latte and the Cali bowl. They were both good! The latte was not overly sweet and all the right flavors. The Cali bowl was right up my ally - two thick pieces of crispy bacon with a mix of baby potatoes, two perfectly poached eggs, with sour cream, guacamole, salsa, and crumbled cheese! It wasn't heavy at all and just it's what I look for in a quick breakfast or brunch. Their bakery case looked delicious so I will definitely be back to try those out. They had sweet potato mochi that looked awesome! I always get street parking and you can walk right in. read more
Such an adorable coffee shop with great quality food and drinks! Their Hojicha latte is amazing, and their baristas know their drinks really well. I'm a big fan of teas, and their latte did not disappoint. The variety of food options - especially their scones are creative flavors. I bought myself two! A blueberry cream cheese scone and a matcha white chocolate chip. Soooo yummy, and they're fairly a larger size, too! A large hojicha latte and those two scones came out to under $10 which is such a great price, especially from a hip and cool coffee place in Kaka'ako! The staff are all friendly, too. They made informed recommendations when I told them it was my first time; all with a smile and great customer service. There is always a line here out the door, sometimes one that wraps around the corner, which exhibits its popularity. But for the quality of their products at their price AND customer service? Top tier. Make sure to check them out if you're every in the area in the morning time. Make sure to get there before they close at 2pm. read more

I had to change from 5 stars to 1... So sad this place had been my favorite place in Kakaako salt to go... for coffee and food..... We waited nearly 30 plus minutes to get 2 scones... because the cashier talks so much to each customers.... we came here early enough to grab scones and coffees but now we will be late for work...... ugh I might change the star back if they improve their efficiency. Good food, coffee but not fast.... the cashier girl made the line waaaaaaaay longer.... Maybe better to hit up morning brew the next time. They are great and fast!!!! read more

I'm actually ashamed that I've haven't written a review for 9Bar yet. We frequented this amazing spot weekly for 3x years and now that we've moved away, I think about it every time a coffee shop lets me down. 9bar is more than coffee! The food is AMAZING. The bakery goods are incredible. The non-coffee drinks are delicious. There is seriously something for everyone here. Favorites include forkwich, chicken carnitas on literally anything, tacos, breakfast burrito, scuffin of any and every flavor, seasonal ube latte, matcha latte, and sparkling passion orange juice. Next time we're in Hawaii, 9bar will be our first stop. read more

Love this place! Not only do they have coffee, but they also have mamaki tea and baked goods. They even have some fizzy drinks. So many choices it's sometimes hard to choose! It's a nice place to just sip something and chat with friends. read more

Best Latte on Oahu = 9BarHNL Best Baristas on Oahu = 9BarHNL Best Scones on Oahu = 9BarHNL Best overall coffee shop on Oahu = 9BarHNL Above description really sums it all about 9BarHNL. This place is truly top notch.. 5 Star+++..They care and are passionate about their art of coffee. Super talented and friendly baristas that make the experience truly enjoyable. Alex, Kaeden and Marisa are specially super awesome. They also offer variety of freshly baked goods including cookies and scones. Scones are the best I've had on the island. Bacon n cheddar, everything bagel and blueberry cream cheese are my favorites. 9barHNL also offers couple different types of super tasty breakfast style bowls. I have tried the Cali Bowl with their killer seasoned chicken. Super fresh, tasty and full of flavors.. Roasted potatoes, poached eggs, avocado, sour cream and salsa makes it a great choice. Try it with chicken and you'll be in love forever! The only downside is that I wish they had some kind of outdoor seating other than what SALT already offers. Soooo forget the boring chain coffee shop around the corner and say HELLO to 9BarHNL! read more

Probably one of my favorite coffee shops in town. They have the friendliest staff, and serve great coffee and food. They're always so friendly and help to point you in the right direction whenever I had questions about their drinks and beans. And their scuffins go great with their coffees! They also have some outdoor seating options that are part of SALT if you want to hang outside. If you're in the area, I definitely recommend stopping by! read more

Stopped by 9Bar HNL for there last weekend of hot menu items. Picked up some scuffin, which they will have along with coffee. However goodbye forkwich and other hot menu items. The prices bit high for their hot menu items but very tasty. read more
This is my favorite coffee place on island. It's always a treat to come and eat here too! I always get the Cali bowl and the almond milk vanilla latte. I can't stop myself. The only drawback today was the wait-they were busy and it took a while to get our food and coffee. The food came out first! The staff are all awesome here and so cheery, I just love them. They make the experience. My only complaint for this place is the AC is so cold! Lol They offer outdoor seating and there's so much more outdoor seating throughout salt too. Parking is easy and validated and the bathrooms are pretty darn clean for them being shared for the complex! The door codes are located by the cup lids, water, and trash on the back counter. The baked goods here are amazing too- they even offer a gluten free option too! Love this place and will try to come here every weekend haha read more
