I highly avoid giving one stars for restaurants, however, today's experience was one of the worst. We came in around 2:30 and walked into an empty restaurant. No workers or no customers to be in sight. Then, within a minute a young lady comes out of the kitchen to tell us we can sit anywhere. From Yelp reviews, we were dying to try the golden bags! They looked like crispy goodness! In addition, we ordered the chicken pad Thai and the papaya salad specifically Lao style (as they mentioned on their website they can either do Lao (with fermented crabs) or Thai (standard) style). We were patiently waiting for our food with great Pandora music playing in the background and 10 minutes later we were presented with the golden bags. Yum! Just what we have traveled 20 mins for! I took my first bite and the mixture inside was still frozen! The ice crystals were highly evident. We told our server, she apologized, took it back, and I heard somebody push buttons on the microwave. In the meantime, our pad Thai and papaya salad came out. The papaya salad was not Lao style as there was not one single fermented crab and the flavors were obviously Thai style. The pad Thai tasted like a bunch of peanut butter, and to add, none of the entrees had a medium spice like we had asked for. The golden bags came out again for the second time and I was so happy to give it another try! I took a bite, not as frozen as before, but still a little frozen and bitterly cold, the only thing that was hot was the outside crispy wrapper. We had told the server for the second time again and she apologized again. Thinking that this item would be comped from the bill, I was wrong. I was charged for something that was not edible and remained frozen after two attempts of cooking it. I wished we would have had a better experience with this restaurant. Don't let my review refrain you from giving this place a try, but it sure has refrained me from going to this restaurant in the future. Sorry 9Thai, I hope things improve. read more

I was excited to try this after I saw a reviewer compare it to Thai Street Food, which is my favorite (although quirky) place to get Thai food. Unfortunately, while acceptable the food did not quite compare. The Pad Thai was particularly disappointing, it just lacked flavor. I should have known better than to order the crab cheese wontons, but I was craving something fried and figured those are a pretty safe bet anywhere. Flavor was fine but sauce container was tiny and unfortunately the wontons were overdone and exceptionally crispy/brown. I wouldn't seek this food out again but would maybe give it another try if I was in the area. read more

I'm giving 9Thai a 3.5 for a recent delivery order, but am hopeful that it will surpass that in the future. I've been desperately looking for good Thai food since I moved to Denver a little over a year and a half ago, and I've been so frustrated that I mostly just cook at home. I found the menu here promising, so we placed an order for tom kha soup, som tam salad (green papaya original style), basil chicken and pad thai with shrimp. I'm not sure if I should have specified spice when ordering online, but I found that every dish was very mild on the heat (the pad thai did have the dry chili like in Thailand, which was awesome). I was a little surprised at the contents of the tom kha (included cabbage and broccoli, which I was not expecting); and thought based on another reviewer's photos the basil chicken would be the more traditional minced meat, but it wasn't, (and again included some vegetables I wouldn't expect). So overall, not quite what I had hoped for in the meal. The pad thai was a pretty great presentation, better than any I've had in Denver so far, though I did end up adding some more fish sauce to get it to my tastes. Looking to try 9Thai again, and hopefully at the restaurant next time (but hey, sometimes you just need to eat in your pajamas). read more

Ordered on Grubhub. Food was over an hour late. When it became apparent that it was going to be so delayed, Grubhub would not cancel the order and issue a refund so I'll be ordering from Ubereats going forward. Was very annoyed to learn that the restaurant kept my driver waiting for an hour, unpaid. That guy has a living to earn too, and wasting his time like that verges on immoral. The food was "meh" at best when it did get here. I will not order again from 9Thai, and I'd suggest you don't either. read more

I just ordered vegetable fried rice for take out. I asked for mild sauce but this food is extremely spicy that I can't even put it on my tongue. Mind you I have a been to Thailand and eaten Authentic Thai food before in addition I eaten spicy food but this food is acid and fire to the tongue. The level of spicy is dangerous! This is a legitimate, real deal Thai restaurant with amazing service (love our girl, Kyla! Hey girl! ) The Denver market for Thai food has a lot of white people trying to make money off of imitating Thai cuisine, so to see a restaurant with all Thai people on both the front and back of the house is awesome. Having had the privilege of going to Thailand before, I can tell you that the food is authentic and on par with our favorite restaurants over there. I ordered pick up from here because Tommy Thai was closed. I noticed the prices were pretty high but decided to try it anyways. I made a bad decision! Way overpriced soup for poor quality. It contained a quartered tomato, mostly just the stalks of mushrooms and some cabbage and chicken. I had ordered tofu instead of chicken as I am a vegetarian. I didn't find out that I was eating non-vegetarian soup until the first piece of chicken landed in my mouth. Thanks a lot. The two redeeming stars were for my boyfriend's meal. read more

Great location and addition to Colfax. Thai spring rolls are crispy and delicious. Drunken noodles are spicy like I like them. Creative substitutions with tofu. Lunch menu is slightly expensive. Service was pretty slow the night I went (took 2.5 hours for dinner on a wednesday). But I'm sure they'll work the kinks out the longer they are open. read more

I can't speak for the negative reviews, but I've been to 9 Thai on numerous occasions and continue to be impressed! The dishes are flavorful and consistently on point! The menu offers more variety than other local Thai restaurants. Again, can't speak for the complaints of "frozen vegetables" but everything I've had is consistently fresh. The service has always friendly and attentive, I've encountered 0 issues- as for the ambiance, I'm not going to say it's the best in town, but it is easily offset by their delicious food! In closing, I will say 9 Thai has easily moved into my first place for Thai food in Denver- unfortunately they were closed today, I had to divert to Tommys, a solid Thai restaurant, there's no comparison. 9 Thai is my all time favorite, this place blows US Thai, Thai Bistro and other solid restaurants alike, right out of the water! I had high hopes after their new renovations, but I still feel like the food here fell a bit short. Not sure if the owners have changed with their new branding of 9Thai vs. Thai monkey club, but I much prefer Thai Monkey Club in Cap Hill! The jasmine infused water was the best part of our meal, delicious and free! The service was also very nice, no complaints in that department. The edamame tasted microwaved and there were some frozen pods, which seemed to confirm our thinking. We ordered the Pad Thai, which had a pile of dry seasoning on the side of the plate/on top of some of the noodles, which seemed a bit odd. Also got the green curry and the vegetables, again, seemed microwaved, rubbery, and not fresh. I ate my food around 7pm and it was out of me completely by 9pm, if you catch my drift. Ouch. There are much better Thai restaurants in our neighborhood that we would prefer and I love Thai food! Unfortunately, probably won't be repeat customers here. read more

We ordered the Pad Thai with Chicken (medium spicy), the Massaman Curry with Chicken (mild spicy), and the pot stickers. Even though the taste of the food was ok, we were a bit disappointed with the overall "take-out" experience. The food was already cold when we picked it up at the specified time, the noodles in the Pad Thai were over-cooked and stuck together in clumps, the peanuts on the Pad Thai were soggy as they had been placed directly on top of the dish rather than on the side in a separate container, and the Massaman had very little curry sauce compared to the amount of potatoes and carrots. I would order from here again if I were absolutely craving Thai (since the taste of the food was ok) but only if I had no other options. I really feel like they could've done a lot better. read more

We did medium spice level and although tasty we fought to get through the salad, the spice level on the pad Thai was totally different, in fact the dish was quite boring. Been coming here weekly since they opened. Portions have gotten smaller and smaller. Lunch specials include two egg rolls that have a strange mushy filling and are undercooked. Cold in the middle. Most excellent flavorful authentic Thai. I've been wanting delicious pad Thai for so long and this satisfied my taste! (Other places' pad Thai been plain and lacking essential ingredients.)
