And then they kept happening, getting larger and spreading throughout the entirety of the house, and we could no longer open the doors in the basement and 1st floor on the south side of the house. Alarmed, I called a civil engineer and had an assessment done. They ascertained our house was sinking, particularly in one corner, and recommended ~30 push piers around the perimeter and up the centerline of the house... for over $100k. I literally laughed at him and asked him who he thought I was that he thought I could afford that. I called a few other places and got questionable assessments, and then I spoke with Yos from DMV. What a breath of fresh air. He was personable and honest. He recommended we get a 3rd party civil engineer to produce a report with drawings that I could use for any foundation company - even if I didn't go with DMV. We (finally, after a loooong delay on the civil engineer's part) got the report and drawings, and Yos and his team began work in early January to install ~10 helical piers on the sinking corner of the house. It was a pretty invasive project, but his team was fantastic. Fast forward 5 months and the cracks have stopped appearing, with a number of them even closing. We are very satisfied with the work DMV did for us, and are particularly pleased with their honesty. Where one company tried to sell us an overkill solution for six figures, Yos was upfront and told us what we really need - to address that affected area and revisit others if they end up being an issue - for roughly a quarter of the other company's price. That sort of honesty and pricing earns a permanent spot in my trusted contractor list.

After calling in at least five different contractors to resolve the damages left by the original company we decided to use American Eagle owned and operated by Perry Watson & his son Ryan. They were extremely organized and methodically fixed a boatload of problems. I found them to be professional and always there to answer my questions & concerns promptly. Perry was previously an Industrial Hygienist , whose experience he applies to American Eagle. All surfaces were covered with plastic and air scrubbers were used to mitigate construction debris and dust. No one else in the industry does this. In comparison, the previous company left a filthy state of horribleness that I was left to clean for weeks. American Eagle hands down would be the only company I could give a 5 star in recommending and would use again in a heartbeat.

Lux Foundation Solutions recommended one thing: replace the basement door. That's it. (And they don't even do doors!) What impressed me most was that Chuck Koach, Lux's Foundation Specialist, assessed things the others didn't. He checked the walls using a moisture meter, thoroughly examined existing interior drain and sump pump systems, inspected crawl spaces for water issues, and checked inside and out for foundation concerns. After a water main leak, our drain tile failed and our finished basement was ruined. Our house was sitting on inches of water under the foundation slab, which had no way to drain because of our dense clay dirt. On the outside, Tiger C excavated all the way down to the slab, put in a new drain tile, water-proofed the walls, re-worked our guttering, and buried it all back. This was all done without permanently removing our porch, deck, or HVAC. On the inside, they cut a trench in the concrete basement slab and installed a six inch drain line from the center of the house to the exterior. Once opened, hundreds of gallons of water gushed out for several hours. Tiger C was very hard-working, friendly, and courteous. They were conscientious of our property and our needs. Further, they warranted their work, giving us the confidence to rebuild the interior. I could not give Tiger C a stronger recommendation.

There were some minor issues during construction…read more(installer backed trailer into my front yard leaving ruts, and cut a pipe under my house that wasn't repaired the way I would have), but I was initially happy with their work. Six months later, I noticed mud stains and water on my encapsulation and around the sump pump which shouldn't be happening $14,000 later. On 8-2, I sent a text message to Jason the installer with photos. No response. On 8-4, I sent an email with same info to Zach the estimator/project initiator. No response. On 8-7, I called the office and got an apologetic female who said someone would call. No response. On 8-11, I sent an email to the office manager April who set up work and sent me the bill. No response. On 8-13, I called the office again. April acknowledged receiving my email and forwarding it to service manager Jacob (without acknowledging or responding to my email). She said she was sending it to him again. As of today (8-21) guess who hasn't contacted me? Yep, the service manager or anybody else. Feels like this company got their money and doesn't care about customer service. I should have gone with another company. Don't make the same mistake.

System has lifetime warranty, but the company who installed it many years ago suggested I have a plumber and a foundation specialist check it out before they come. If not there their issue under the warranty, there's a hefty charge. I contacted Randall, the owner of Basement Masters, who came out promptly, looked at old system, discussed concerns with warranty coverage I might encounter, and found no foundation cracks. He kindly offered to have me call him after the old company comes out to assess the issue. All done for no charge. You'll not do business with a more honest, reliable company.
