And why am I only considered a "Yelp crush?" Problems right? If your problem only happens to be messy sheets you can remedy and fix that by dropping them (and the rest of your laundry) off here. These people are fantastic and do a bang up job! heh, I said "bang". You need same day service? The owner and workers speak Mandarin, they were much friendlier when I started speaking in Chinese with them. Anyways, I had two pair of jeans wanted to get alternated. They did a WONDERFUL job, exactly the length i wanted it, perfect! A little pricy, I paid 38 for alternation, I also paid 3 bucks more because I wanted them to get done two days earlier. The ladies were very patient, when they were measuring the inseam of the pants, i was going back and forth on the decision of how long should they cut them, I tried the pants on but i was wearing my flat shoes, therefore i was worried that they might come out too short. But the lady who served me kept telling me to chill, they have been doing this for years. so Yay!! They did a good job! read more

WATCH OUT! We've been using A-1 for years, but suddenly Helen has become unkind and rude. I took a party dress in with a 1/2 inch pencil line of a stain, asked for it to be looked at, and told her, "It's so small, so if you can't work with it, just let me know." The dress came back with a GRAPEFRUIT-SIZED dry cleaning solution STAIN on it. When I asked for the stain to be taken out, she was rude. (I was nice about it--things happen.) Today, when I came to get it, there was still part of the dry cleaning stain still visible, and when I asked if she could help get it out, she huffed at me and said, "I have other customers!" and walked away. More than that, lately each time we've asked for alterations, she's put us off. The last time was simple hem on a top. "No! I can't hem that! No!!" and then she walked away. I left and took my alterations elsewhere, but REALLY? Helen seems sweet on the outside, but she can be rude and mean and unprofessional. BE CAREFUL HERE IF YOU CHOOSE TO USE THEM. I must admit I felt somewhat obnoxious when I was at A-1 Cleaners because I brought in two, complex requests (not the usual dry-cleaning drop-off). One: my favorite Marc Jacobs silk dress had a tear near the arm seam on the back. Two: a jean skirt I brought back from Israel needed a new button and I came unprepared without one. My b. Anyway, the moms behind me were getting restless waiting while I was describing the problem & picking out a button. However, the ladies who work there were very quick to notice and one popped right up to the counter to help others with their requests. The solution? A seamless, perfect patch on the inside of the dress that makes the dress appear new. And a newly placed button on the skirt- which required sewing a smaller hole for the button they provided (because I neglected to bring one for it). Everything ready a week later for $30! Fabulous! -- That was my most recent venture to the cleaners, so I thought I'd share that even with annoying requests A-1 Cleaners are pros. Now Marc Jacobs loves my body and I try to be kind to him and not rip the dress! However, I found the actual button that goes on the skirt and I will not forget it next time! read more

Used their laundry service a few months ago (2017) and was very pleased with their service from start to finish. Though I didn't personally meet Dan since I had someone else drop off & pick up my laundry, my interactions with him via phone was great and he communicated well. I'm very particular about service and quality overall and was saddened that I was no longer close to my previous dry cleaning/laundry/alteration spot that I loved. This is now our regular dry cleaner and we love it. They are very accommodating and seem to be able to handle anything (stains, torn shirts, holes in sweaters). Before we went here we went to Primrose Cleaners (on the other side of Burlingame ave) and it was a DISASTER. Plus, just by walking in the door you can tell they have no clothes hanging on their spinning things because they have no customers. A1 is always full of clothes and on Saturdays the place is hoppin with everyone picking up and dropping off. read more

I droppped off about 20 shirts and three pairs of pants to be cleaned, which always makes me nervous because in the past ,Ive had items lost, given to the large amount of clothing dropped off. They had all the shirts and pants ready in 1 day. Everything was clean and odor free. the owner was very friendly and helpful. Three weeks later I dropped off a pair of my granpa's pants to have altered, these were very special to me, I havent worn them cause they're too small and need to be lengthened. I spoke to the owner again and he mentioned that he is the tailor at the shop and he could help me with this. So, after talking with owner, I decided to have them altered and he told me to come back in a few days to pick them up. I went back in 3 days, and I tried them on, and they fit just perfect, it was exactly the fit I was looking for. He did an excellent job, and the pants looked exactly the same as when I dropped them off, only they fit perfectly! If you have a piece of clothing that has special meaning to you, and you need it altered, this is definitely the place to go. read more

I recently asked them to get a stain out of a brand new blouse that I wore only once. They didn't promise anything at first, but they got the stain out gently. I have utilized many a wash-and-fold service over the years: Europ, NYC, Palo Alto. This place is adequate but over priced: $1.50/lb with 10 lb minimum. The owners/cashier has relatively weak customer service skills for the kind of neighborhood we live in and the prices they are charging. Typical wash and folds will try to be friendly and cultivate loyalty with a new customer discount, etc. Glad it exists for the last minute wash needs for urgent travel, but it pushes me to wash my own clothes for much cheaper. read more
