While we waited for our food, Marvin brought over some samples of the sausage as well as the macaroni salad, mixed with potato salad with a little splash of hot sauce. I don't like gatekeepers, but I want to with this place. I've been to Franklin's in Austin, TX, and I prefer this place 1000x times over. The brisket was amazing, and the sides were excellent. I even got treated to extra burnt ends--fantastic. My wife, a vegetarian (welcome to Sebastopol), could enjoy all the sides and cornbread but wished for another side option or a main option (Again, it's a Sebastopol thing--sorry). She got FOMO from the bbq. Get there early - about 30-40 people in line before the doors open, and yes - it does sell out. My only complaint is that it needs more seating inside, and the line oddly wraps around near the tables and it makes it awkward if you're sitting at a table with people standing and drooling over you. read more

This isn't about the meat- they were sold out when I went there. But, I felt weird leaving without buying anything so I got two sodas from their fridge and 2 sides. Mind you, the sides are about 1 cup. So, I got two sodas, a cup of pasta salad and a cup of potato salad. It was 19$. I was shocked. I actually didn't want to buy it but also didn't want to walk out. My wife and I ate here last Saturday. WOW! This place really blows all the other BBQ in the Bay out of the water. The food was incredible (we got pulled pork, ribs, brisket, coleslaw, beans, and mac and cheese - all 11/10 on the flavor scale), the staff was extremely generous and friendly, and they played good music. I stopped on my way home and purchased a brisket sandwich. Good service inside but the drink coolers are covered in butcher paper. Rather than see inside you need to open the door. Pretty strange idea to cover the doors. The sandwich was decent mainly due to the BBQ sauce and the fresh bun it was on. I tried some of the brisket with no sauce on it and it didn't have that smoky flavor we all love, pretty boring. $19 bucks for a so so sandwich makes for a very expensive lunch for the family out. read more

They do bbq right. The meat isn't covered with sauce at all. There is sauce available on your table. Everything is tender and perfect. I really enjoyed the cornbread, baked beans. The coleslaw was nice and freshly crispy. It wasn't sweet but very fresh. The people were hospitable, friendly and very accommodating. My son and I picked up sandwiches at Marvin's on Sunday. I ordered the Tri-Tip and he got the Barbecubano. My Tri-Tip was excellent. The meat was perfect and the horseradish Mayo was a great addition. My son was extremely happy with his Barbecubano. Next time we'll try the ribs and some sides. Went to Bodega Bay for our Anniversary as we were married at Salmon Creek Beach. All of Bodega bay was packed because of the Chowder tasting so we went to Sebastopol. Found this place and it was amazing. Reasonably priced, brisket was fantastic and great atmosphere. Will come back. read more

Just got back after our first visit! I don't ordinarily write reviews but I have to write this one because our experience was so positive. My husband was born in Kansas City and at 9 years old moved to Dallas, TX. Needless to say he is a bar-b-que lover, as am I. So we drove from San Rafael to Sebastobol to check it out. Well, it exceded our expectations! Seasoning so awesome who needs bar-b-que sauce! 5 stars on the brisket, smoked turkey, pork ribs, apple cold slaw and baked beans (basically everything we ate). Also Chris the man who cooks the magic and another gentleman (a co-owner), stopped by and chatted with us! I had so much fun with everyone who worked there. Super cool people and definitely part of the experience. I too, loved that at each table is a roll of paper towels and a hugs jar of bar-b-que sauce. Wow...absolutely OUTSTANDING BBQ! Without a doubt the best BBQ I have had in California, no question, no comparison, anything else did not even come close! I've eaten alot of Central Texas BBQ, eaten all over Austin, etc. and this is the best I've had in this state and LEGIT Texas BBQ! Heard so many good things I had to get over and investigate for myself. Just from the look of them slicing the brisket I knew it was going to be outstanding (it was giving absolute "Franklin" vibes in texture and jiggle...if you know, you know). The ribs looked absolutely amazing and so did the pulled pork. The only thing I wanted to try was the sausage which they were unfortunately out of, but I'll absolutely be back and be sure to try them. I hear they sell out frequently, so that's a good sign and I'm sure they're wonderful. Sampled all three items and they were just incredibly sublime. Fatty brisket disintegrated and melted in your mouth. Ribs were perfectly done, simple rub, fantastic texture of being tender but not falling off the bone. Pulled pork was also outstanding and their BBQ sauce paired perfectly with all the items. But the true sign of really outstanding BBQ is that every item can totally stand on its own and doesn't "need" sauce, and I can absolutely say that is an accurate statement for all the meats I tried at A&M. The quality meat and perfect smoking stands out and shines on its own. Was on such a meat focused mission I didn't try any sides, but again... I will be back. Obviously that I'd "recommend" A&M is the understatement of the year. Again, if you want REAL and LEGITIMATE Texas BBQ, look no further!
