One of the most well known and popular ramen spots in the area. The reputation is deservedly so. We stopped by for a late dinner and was told their most popular ramen was no longer available as they ran out of the key ingredients. You snooze, you lose! Anyways, we pivoted and order other items. What we ordered was very good. The staff there is very knowledgeable and accommodated our lengthy list of modifications.

Walking with friends from the Barlow to downtown Sebastopol, we ran across a sign in front of Ramen Gaijin that said Happy Hour 2:30 - 4:30. I didn't know they offered happy hour! [[HIGHLIGHT]]You can sit in the bar area or outside for happy hour, so we elected to sit outside. They turned on a heater for us that kept us toasty warm[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. Our server was Ryan and he was outgoing and friendly and checked on us regularly. We decided to try: - Karaage (fried chicken pieces) - Happy buns - Shoyu ramen Our server knew that we were sharing the noodles so he brought out extra bowls and spoons without having to ask. Noodles are made in-house and they try to get locally sourced ingredients for their menu items based on the season. Everything was delicious. Happy buns were pork chasu, butter lettuce, pickled red onion all enclosed in a warm, super soft bun. The karaage was tasty and hot and it came with a side of greens. The shoyu noodles were made with rye noodles and the texture was outstanding. We all enjoyed our afternoon snack. We all wished that they offered smaller bowls of ramen during happy hour so we could have tried other flavors. My personal favorite here is the spicy tan tan ramen.

This was my first time at Ramen Gaijin! We had a reservation for 8:00 pm on a Friday and were seated immediately. [[HIGHLIGHT]]My only complaint was that our table/seating area was extremely cramped, and we had to basically share a bench with a large party next to us.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We ordered two different donburi dishes as well as a shoyu ramen. The ramen was very flavorful and the perfect portion size. I would recommend the mushroom donburi bow over the poke bowl, as the poke bowl didn't have that much actual poke in it. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The atmosphere inside was great and I loved the unique paintings and decorations on the walls.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]They also have a nice outdoor seating area for use during warmer weather.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

I have been coming to Ramen Gajin for years now, and will continue to keep coming back. Service is always kind and attentive, and the food is amazingly flavorful! I went recently and see that they changed up their menu. I'm vegetarian so I tend to get the vegan ramen on menu, that previously included the fried tofu. They recently switched it up and removed the fried tofu from the ramen which is a bummer, but I hope they bring it back! My boyfriend got the Spicy TanTan Men and he loves it! He had nothing but great things to say. He loved the flavor of it, and how spicy it is. Their pickled appetizer (not pictured here) is also different from what I've had before, and I love it! If you loved pickled things, this is for you!

What a great experience and a great meal, we were lucky to have Jonathan as our waiter, and he stuck with us from beginning to end, he gave us great advice, and the food was absolutely fantastic, [[HIGHLIGHT]]they were very busy and they were able to accommodate us outside at a table with our dog[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]], Again the service was excellent, and the food was top-notch, the best Ramen we've ever had, will definitely be back, it's worth the drive from the Bay Area. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Great location and easy parking, very nice inside and out.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

We decided to stop here while exploring downtown Sebastopol. I have celiac and typically it's hard to find gluten free options at ramen restaurants, however, that was not the case here as they had many celiac safe options, including the fried chicken Kaarage. The waiter was also very knowledgeable about allergies and informed me that it would be fried in a non-gluten fryer which was amazing. We also ordered a garlic potato skewer which had a wonderful sauce on it. The menu was clearly labeled with GF which was great. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They have a seating area by the bar for happy hour as well as a dining area on the other side of the restaurant.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] For drinks, I got the mango cider and my partner got the Negroni. Everything was delicious and we will definitely be back!

I've never been disappointed by a meal from this restaurant. They truly have the best vegetarian ramen I've ever tasted. Although I adore their cocktails I opted for a Golden State Cider which complimented my meal nicely. The ramen is packed with so much flavor and delicious goodies- I especially love the crispy tofu wedges. The ambience is chill with moderate noise. Service was adequate. I love the murals on display.

Friends suggested this place for lunch. We got here right when they were opened so there was no wait. Ambiance is nice. Hostess was really friendly and welcoming. After we were seated, our server came by with a big warm smile. Their menu consists of ramen, donburi, appetizers, desserts, drinks, etc. I decided on Shitake Miso Ramen because I love mushroom flavored base. Broth was flavorful. It was a bit salty. A solid bowl of ramen overall. I don't know the name of our server but he was awesome. Very attentive and friendly. Price wise, it was on the higher side. I will come back again if i'm in the area.

At $23, it's on the pricey side of ramen but I love the spicy TanTanmen so much that I've traveled over an hour just to come back. I'd consider the spice level a good mild/medium (and am someone who handles spice quite well). You can sub the ramen for gluten free noodles (additional $2), which are thin rice noodles. I really appreciate their GF noodle option! If you have celiac, they can also make this dish completely Gluten Free. What's unique about Ramen Gaijin (besides its funny name) is the veggies they use to top the ramen which are always fresh and delicious: charred cabbage, wooded mushroom, scallions. It comes with a hearty chunk of pork belly and ground pork, plus a 6 min egg. I love sitting in the outdoor dining area on nice days. It helps to make a reservation online through Google ahead of time. Service is always solid.

Staff was amazing, and very accommodating. By far out of everything we had (all very good) the best was hands down the dessert. It was delicious.

They have a very large selection of sake, and the servers know and talk with the locals which is so nice to see in our modern society. The sashimi was absolutely stunningly good. Usually we like sitting at the bar to see the chefs do their thing, but this place is not like that at least the night we went to which was surprising cause Japanese establishments typically are cooking out in the open. They had a lot of different sakes which was really nice to see but no draft beer unless I missed it. They let you pick a cup for your sake which is so cute, I loved that. All their table wear was so beautiful. We got a fruity sake first and loved that one. The second one was the "goku" it was giving straight sake. I'd prolly stick to fruitier ones. The server was very kind and she was easy to talk to and provided great service. As for the food, I thought it was pretty okay! We ordered the omakase which was $75 per person and it was very filling. We had trout sashimi which had some bite texturally not my fave fish tbh. Potato Salad which a jammy egg omg I loved it but wondered how it'd taste if the egg was marinated. The mushroom soup was lemony and oniony it was pretty good. The karage could've been crispier imo and I wish the wasabi aoli was a lil different but it was still good. The robata was hella good my fave was the meatball one, I'm not a big fan of cartilage but that it very well cooked, and I appreciated the pile seasoning provided as well. The strawberry topped panna cotta was so good no notes. Overall, pretty good and I'd go again if I was in this area and order individual dishes especially the potato salad and panna cotta. Not really the vibe of an izakaya imo they also don't have ginger but def a nice Japanese restaurant with some twists.

We (4 of us) got seated right away for dinner at 6:35pm or so, but it took around 20 mins to be given water and to order our food. It seemed there were a lot of takeout orders and they were possibly short staffed since there was just one person packing the takeout orders and seating us / taking orders and bringing the food. After we ordered, we got our waters and it took another 30+ mins for the first couple dishes and even longer for the others. We were there for 2 hours! Ugh!!!! The food itself was good and portions were satisfactory as they were above average. A lot of izakaya a was above average, especially the wait time haha. We tried the following- Gobo chips- more of gobo tempura. It came with a mentaiko sauce which I really enjoyed. Pretty greasy and a lot more batter than I prefer with gobo chips. Gyoza- pretty standard, but good. A Special Roll- soft shell crab inside with avocado and salmon outside were the highlights. Few pieces, but decently sized. Pretty good roll overall. Ocha-zuke- Love these tea / dashi rice with pack of flavor and wasabi. Got both the salmon one and the spicy cod roe ones. Both were good. Love chazuke. Chicken karaage- says 5 pieces, and they were humongous! Tonkotsu ramen- didn't look so appealing, but was alright Bento box with chicken, mix tempura, California roll- he liked the box. I didn't try anything here. I'd come back if it was guaranteed that the food wouldn't take sooooo long. The person serving was nice and had great attitude. They def checked on regulars more often.

My husband and I had dinner here tonight, and overall it was a really memorable experience. We've…read moretraveled quite a bit and tried sushi in many different cities, including around the Los Angeles area where we live and have our favorite spots. So when we visit a sushi restaurant, we tend to evaluate everything as a whole -- price, quality, service, and of course the flavors. For dinner we ordered the Mango Tuna Roll (which was our first time trying a mango-style sushi roll), the 8-piece Omakase Nigiri, a Double Toro Roll, two pieces of Otoro, and a hot sake. With a 20% tip included, the total for the two of us came to $163.50, which honestly falls within the average range of what we usually spend for a sushi dinner like this. Normally we might pay around $120-$130 depending on the place, sometimes a little more if we add an extra item or two. The portion sizes were pretty standard. Not unusually large, but not small either -- similar to what we've experienced at many other sushi restaurants. Where this place really stood out was the depth of flavor. The quality and balance of the ingredients were excellent. At one point I actually caught myself closing my eyes just to focus on the taste, which is something I almost never do. The preparation felt very refined and the flavors were elevated, rich, and memorable. I would describe it as delicate portions with very elevated flavors. Because of that, I'm giving this place 5 out of 5 stars. This is the kind of restaurant that works perfectly for a nice dinner with your partner. It's not necessarily a place where you go wild ordering everything on the menu like at a taco spot. Instead, it's better to be thoughtful with what you choose and enjoy a few well-crafted dishes. You can easily have a special, enjoyable dinner here without going overboard. Definitely worth visiting if you're in the area and want a quality sushi experience with refined flavors. The only thing I felt was missing was a small welcome miso soup. In some sushi restaurants we've visited, they serve a tiny cup of miso with a couple pieces of tofu as a warm welcome. It's a very small gesture, but it creates a nice first impression and adds a sense of hospitality to the experience. Considering the quality and pricing of the menu here, a simple welcome miso soup would fit perfectly with the overall dining experience.

Glad I made a reservation on Sunday night for dinner as it did get a bit crowded. It is moderately sized. For 2, we ordered 2 appetizers and 2 sushi rolls. I saw that the salmon roll was spicy but it was hardly spicy so that was a good thing for me. I enjoyed the corn tempura, perfectly crunchy and flavorful. The eggplant was also unique and tasty. It was enough food for two. Everything was a bit on the pricy side but the quality was there. Would come back to try other things and the omakase.
