Whenever I wander down to Charles Town to play the slots, I always try to stop in here because we do not have a LJS in Frederick anymore (since the Frederick Towne Mall became a dilapidated ghost town). This place used to be good, back in like 2010, but now its just gross. Every time I come in here, the place is gross. The floor is sticky, the tables are gross. There is always only one or two people working (aka standing around). The last few times they have been out of certain things- like BATTER. I ordered LJS fish and chicken, they said they couldn't make my order because they were out of batter? Do they really hand-dip the freaking fish and chicken at the restaurant? I think not. We've stopped going to this Long John Silver's location after trying 3 or 4 times in the last few months. No fries. No ice. No soda. No fish. No computers for the registers so they couldn't take orders... All were recent issues when we tried to go to this particular location. Can I give it zero stars? This place is a combo A&W and Long John Silver's. The place was dirty, the ketchup had small chunks of something I didn't recognize, and because the toilet in the women's handicapped stall comes off the floor when you sit down, it smells like something died in there. Obviously, sewage gas is exposed! At least there was soap in the women's bathroom, because the men's bathroom had none, for guests or employees! When you add to that a 25 MINUTE wait for 3 combo meals, this is one of the worst places I have ever eaten! I have been here before, (several years ago), but will never come again. I feel sorry for the people of Charlestown. It is an embarrassment. The area where they keep the sundae toppings had no sneeze guard between it and customers waiting for food, but more upsetting was that there was no lid covering the cherry topping! If you love your intestines, don't come here. My bf and I decided to come here because he hadn't had long John silver's in forever, and I honestly wish it had stayed that way. The wait was a heck of a lot longer than what a normal fast food place should be, and while we were waiting, I saw the sign said, "Now under new management." That should've been my first sign. While eating, the food seemed....off. I took one bite of the fish, and did not like it. The texture was greasy and soggy on the inside. That should've been my second sign. All of the fried food tasted exactly the same. It was very bland, and tasted like everything was made out of the same dirty oil. I am in this area very in frequently and when I am I like to stop at the one of the very few Long John Silver's. Both times in the last six months that I have been here there doesn't seem to be anybody working, cars lined up in the drive-through, only to jump out eventually when nobody comes to see what they want. Then you drive around to the lobby where there's a note on the door saying you can't come inside but there doesn't seem to be anybody inside there. What the heck is going on if you're out of business turn the lights off take the sign down, if you are in business put some help on! read more

Arrived at this location around 5pm today. Ordered the 16 piece chicken meal. 25 minutes later I left without an acknowledgement of the wait. Bathroom was disgusting. Urinal not working and toilet clogged with toilet paper. I took a picture so I can remember as I will not be returning as should everyone else. Not my first not great experience here. Food is good - service less than good - just went thru dive thru - 5/3/2019 at noonish - ordered number 12 with 2 fish and 3 chicken and cole slaw and fries and sweet tea - I got fries only and unsweetened tea and one fish and 3 chicken - all I ask is that you get my order correct - why is it so hard?!?!? Food ok. Bout what I would expect from a fast food place. BUT.... the restaurant and dining area is bloody FILTHY! Not a clean table anywhere in the building! Greasy surfaces everywhere. We are foolish thinking it will change. So My dad and I haven't been to this restaurant in years and we figured we would try it since we were in the area, so we went in to get some dinner and my dad had to use the restroom but said it was so filthy that he didn't even want to use it. While ordering our food was ok, this young gentleman kept pulling out his phone and looked like he was texting someone; which is very unprofessional in my opinion, and kept taking off his mask while walking around bagging food. When we were giving our cups to fill at the soda machine, all the soda's tasted GROSS so we had them fill our cups with the soda machine in the back and the drinks still tasted pretty bad so we ended up throwing them away. We waited for about 30 to 40 minutes for our food to be ready and while we were waiting, we noticed almost 90% of the customers were not happy with their orders and kept complaining about how the food tasted. After we got our food and went out to our car, my dad said his side of green beans were sour and so was the cold slaw, and our chicken and fish was very greasy.. we only ate half of our meals and threw the rest away and was very disappointed that our favorite old time restaurant was not what it use to be:( read more

Despite the negative reviews, my husband and I had a great experience. We came after playing poker at the casino and it hit the spot. Employees were helpful, food was hot and came quickly but the icing on the cake is when the GM came over to introduce himself and chat. It's nice to see someone in charge actually working and running the place. I hope he does well here. read more

Three of us arrived for lunch at 1215. Everyone, including the manager, was out in the parking lot smoking and talking to someone in a car. They gave us a pleasant greeting and one employee followed us inside. We placed our order just as the manager came in. When he entered the kitchen area he abruptly started squawking because there was no food pre-ready. Bonus for us because we knew our food would be freshly cooked. Bad because we had to listen to his squawking and blaming the 2 female employees the entire time our food was cooked, and as the lunch rush arrived in the drive thru. He must have forgotten that he, too, was hanging out in the parking lot, at lunch time, with his staff just minutes before... The food wasn't impressive. OK, so I only eat fast food every month or two but I got this great coupon for a free piece of fish and fries so here I am. I had gotten some not-so-great food here about ten years ago and never come back; but, I really love fish so the coupon brought me here today. What a difference! Fish was freshly prepared and I enjoyed the meal. Staff was friendly and helpful. I have another coupon and will come back in a month for another fast food fix. Horrible service. You can tell everyone that works there hates their lives. I tried to order something on the menu that didn't exist on the register so I couldn't get it. The manager on duty was from a different location and she agreed that it was weird because they have the option at their store... but she still didn't help me out and said I could not get it. So I ordered something else and when we sat down to eat, I noticed a hair on a hushpuppy. I don't eat them so I didn't mind. I continued to eat to see two hairs in my green beans, then another one on my clams. Totally ruined my appetite, and when I brought it up to the counter to show them, they didn't even look, the guy looked more embarrassed than anything. If I could give this a negative star, I would. Walked in and the wall had a hole punched in it. The cashier was yelling orders to the back. Another customer was asking for her money back. That should have been a clue. We waited 30 minutes for our food. And so had all other 4 customers that were waiting with us. At one point, the kitchen was empty. Everyone disappeared. One employee started washing tables like she didn't have a line of people coming in. Then the manger through our food on the counter and walked away. No "thank you for your patience " or "sorry for the wait". We shouldn't have continued to wait that long but we were really hungry as we had just driven three hours. OMG!!!! Terrible is the only word to describe this place. Husband was served food that looked like it had been put back in the fryer to make it hot. Soggy when it should have been crispy. I ordered a burger without a bun (they still put it on a bun) and I took a small bite of the burger and had to literally spit it into a napkin. Gross!! Went here for lunch during work. Got a fish and chicken meal with fries and coleslaw. Waited for almost 15 minutes to get my food. Took my first bite of slaw and it tasted like straight-up bleach! The chicken crust was so thick it was inedible. The chicken inside was rubbery and mush. I know this is kind of gross, but before I finished eating, I had to go the the restroom where I got sick. When I left, I got sick again in the parking lot. After going back to work, the rest of the night I was nauseous and had to make several more trips to the restroom. The food is adequate, and it's convenient to my occasional trek between Blacksburg and Baltimore, but two of the last three times I visited, even though the signage says A&W and Long John's, there was no diet root beer.
