Worst meal ever. No fries, no onion rings, burned burgers. Drink machines broken. Horrible.

They were out of burger patties. They were out of burger patties on Sunday at 3pm. I was on the way back from a trip to West Va and looking forward to some a&w so I actually drove by other restaurants that probably had their act together enough to have enough frozen parties to last them to Monday. I ordered and they pulled my dish and fries out of warning area not fresh . Shameful when you work hard for your money and receive this service . The ceiling has area paint and dry way tearing away . The soda machine in lobby is out of order. The walls murals are stained and dirty and food on walls . Need professionals to clean not employees. Windows need cleaned professional. The glass separating tables is dirty , filthy. Corporate needs to check this establishment soon before someone gets sick . I will not attempt to use the restroom, no way . The kitchen wow scared to say. Employees kinda friendly at register but not there fault . Recess lights out , several . Just the restaurant not taken care of so usually means kitchen may get someone sick , customers. This isn't intended to cause trouble just get this place fixed . Probably the owners fault . I am sad to say that this is probably one of the dirtiest restaurants I've ever been in. It doesn't appear that they are ashamed that it's so dirty either. There is absolute trash everywhere, there's gunk on all the dispensers and overall this place looks like it's has not been cleaned up in about 6 months. If you look at the trash can by the ketchup dispensers the interior has gunk build-up all around the circumference. I don't know why I stayed, apparently I'm retarded and I purchased food; I figured I was already in there and mistakenly ordered. I think the tartar sauce, both in the dispenser and in the sauce packets, were spoiled. I ended up only eating half a piece of fish (if not less) and tossing the rest. Very disappointed and grossed out by my own stupidity. Whoever the manager or the owner is, they really need to go in there and clean that place up; it's a disaster and it's gross. read more

Me and my husband order our food, simple order. Fish/ French fry and a hamburger and drink. 5 employees working. 9:03 pm 10/6 on a Friday, 5 sets of patrons in the restaurant. 1 set already served their food. 9:10 they lock the doors because they are OVERWHELMED. 9:20 2 of 4 sets get their food and leave. They are still not letting patrons in the restaurant telling them as they bang on the doors to go through the drive through.9:27 pm Manager on duty eating food while handling food. I asked her to refund my money. I asked her name. She said Teddy. Wasn't really apologetic. Called the name and number on the receipt John Malnofski and he didn't appear shocked. The fact that we were being locked in a business now seems so wrong. Not to mention handling food while eating. So Long John. This store is a Health Department train wreck!! read more

I love Long Johns, It was one of my favorite childhood fast food restaurants. I have visited the Long Johns in Charlestown at least 10-20 times. Every time I visit I hope that they were better than the last time. This place needs a completely new management. They consistently are out of items including fish! Yes, a fish Resterant out of fish! They have closed at odd hours, one time 6pm on a Sunday, I was so disappointed! Today, their drink machines were out of order, the kitchen was a terrible mess, food was burnt, and they messed up our orders. Upon walking into the restaurant we were told that the ice cream machine was broken, they had no Pepsi, no burger buns,no bacon and they had no change. I placed my order at 2:32pm and did not get my food until 3:04pm. I ordered chicken strips, popcorn shrimp and a hot dog accompanied with fries. That's it!!! All those things could have been made fresh in 7 minutes or less. When the person who took my order gave me my food, he said "I thought my manager was getting your food ready but SHE went in the back". I later asked him to tell his manager that I would like to speak to the manager and he subsequently has a MALE, who was not wearing any uniform, but neither was anybody else, come out to the front and speak to me. Your employee referenced his manager as a female but then sent his male coworker, who was working the drive thru to speak to me. This guy was rude and short and his answer to my question was "you can see we are short staffed" in which I replied, that is your problem not mine. . This terrible experience cost my family nearly $30 and I think that it should be fully refunded. I won't even start on how many customers came in after my family and we're served before us. I expect a full refund for the way I was treated. We pay the menu prices to dine in your establishment and along with that there is a standard. Your company fell short of delivering what I paid for. In summary, I will never dine here again and will use my position of meeting hundreds of new people every month to pass along the good advice of staying away from this place. read more

Had to stop late Saturday night after a business event. The cashier was friendly (think his name was Mac), but the kitchen staff was slow, rude, and obnoxious. Our small group (6 people) were treated to loud complaining that they would not be able to get off by 10:30, and rude comments about our food choices. Despite the fact that we were holding them up, it still took them easily 25 minutes to produce undercooked chicken and fish with room temperature fries. I became quite ill from the food there. My family and I were planning a camping trip to this area so we were searching out places to go rafting and sight seeing. We had four children with us so we decided to stop and eat somewhere fast we came along A&W / long John silver's it was one of those combo chains so we go in to eat which is rare when we do take out fast food we usually just go to the drive threw. First off my daughter tells me the bathroom smells but it's a toilet so I tell her yeah people shit suck it up...She's a whiner so I don't know how bad it is till I go in. Its horrible it smells like a porta potty at the fair worse even. Then we order, they don't have one menu item no big deal, we go get our soda two of the 8 selections are out of order including the big barrel of A&W root beer, there are two bottles by the soda machine ,half full but the labels have been torn off so who knows. My mother gets the wrong food which is especially upsetting because she knew they had it mixed up and double checked with the woman who rang us up who looked and said yes the orders right, but the food took so long to get she just kept the food they gave her...see this is the kind of people we are easy....to a point. My mother used the mens room the food was cold and a woman was loudly complaining to the manager who was informing her she couldn't refund her money for missing food because it had happened the day before. Which seems not entirely ridiculous but the woman had been calling since she discovered the.missing food but as the manager said they have phones they just aren't allowed to answer them??? This is an A&W Root Beer and Long John Silvers combined. They were out of root beer!!! They were also out of large cups and out of lids for the medium cups they did have. The dining area was dirty. We had to clean our own table before we could eat. I will not stop again. It's sad, because I really like both restaurants. They could be so much better. read more

I ordered the A2 combo at the drive-thru, which is a double-cheese bacon cheeseburger with fries and a drink. I ordered a vanilla milkshake as well. I had to wait over 15 minutes for my order. When it finally came, I was only handed a bag with my food, not my soda or my shake. I pointed this out, and was given my drink about three minutes later, but still no shake. I pointed that out, and two minutes later was given a big cup full of soft serve ice cream. I was tempted to call the employee out on being a total douche-bag, but I had already had a tiring and stressful day, and didn't feeling like getting into more drama. I will say that the punk's name, as listed on the receipt, is joseph H. This is one of the worst restaurants I have even been at. The food was mediocre, and the service was utterly horrible. I will never give this awful place my business again, and I strongly advise everyone else to never go there as well. If I ever do go back, it will only be to tell them the quality of their establishment...which is nil. This place doesn't even deserve one star. It doesn't even deserve zero. Very bad experience with this place. We arrived to place our order and we were told they had no Pepsi. We order fish and chicken and they told us we would have to wait since they were making the fish and chicken. Total wait time was 20-30 minutes. Bad management of this location overall. read more

Worst place ever! Dirty dinning area, looks dirty behind the counter as well...not all employees making sanwhiches were wearing gloves. Extremely slow making orders rude service I could hear the drive through girl with black hair cursing and complaining about her job. I usually love Long John's but man.. Your Charles Town store is letting you down. I usually go to the Winchester, VA store because it's great but we were driving through and decided to stop. First problem: sat at the ordering box for about 5 minutes before someone took our order. No biggie. Second, the soda was out of syrup. Also forgivable although I wasn't big on the cashier handling my soda...not to mention my food if her uniform is any indicator of her hygiene. Third, we sat at the window another five minutes before being asked to drive around and park to wait for our food. We ordered 4 tacos, ferries and one drink. How long do you need? We sat another TEN MINUTES before she very begrudgingly brought out our food. There were almost no people at the restaurant which we figured out because 1) there were hardly any cars in the lot and 2) we had to go inside because our fries were forgotten because "they had so many orders" the fries were old, the tortillas were hard (wtf? Ew.), one chicken taco had no baja sauce or lettuce and one fish taco had no fish just crunchy buys and lettuce LOL Also, I'd like to mention how appealing the mountain of trash bags sitting outside the door was. I'd ask for my money back if they would answer their phone but with the service we just received I'm not surprised that they didn't. Zero stars. Crappy food. Crappy service. read more

First let me say that I have been a Fan of the A&W / Long John Silver restaurants. I have ended up stopping at many and usually enjoy my meal. that being said this particular location I will never set foot into again and if it were possible to give negative stars this would be -5. let me start with the fact that the fountain drinks in the Dining area were not working and neither were the Root Beer tap's in fact I was told they were out of Root Beer "at an A&W location this in my opinion is unforgivable" I ordered the 2 piece fish and shrimp with onion rings my family ordered a 2 piece fish with onion rings and slaw, all american burger with Bacon and fry's and a kids cheese burger plain add bacon with fry's all dine in. first it took almost 30 min for the order to be ready and was handed to me in bags to go (should have taken that as a hint) I was asked is I wanted them to Plate it or just give me plates I chose plates to do it myself. My 2 piece with shrimp was missing shrimp and my kids meal was not plain so I took them up to the counter where I was greeted after some time with a what is the matter I showed him the food that was opened in front of him and stated the order was wrong. he ( I didn't see his name) took the order to correct it and my Wife called me to the table sawing the onion rings tasted wrong I tried one and they were sour as if they had spoiled and reeked of old fish. I took the order to the window and was again rudely asked what was wrong I told him that I wanted my money Back. he said what is wrong I told him the food was bad and tossed the bag to the side wall. (now granted this was not the best way to illustrate my point but it was what it was I was frustrated with the apathy of the employee in the food stained apron) the manage then proceeded to interject to me how I was wrong that I threw food at her employee I stated I did not that I only tossed it to the side not at anyone. she proceeded to claim that I assaulted her employee and just started off angry. this in and of itself annoyed me due t the fact that I do not under any circumstance take rude behavior directed at me this woman refused to provide me with her district managers name or contact info brushing it off that it would be on my receipt the number was disconnected by the way she also dismissed me as if she didn't care I really hope that the franchise owner hires a better class of employee and management better yet close the store and start over. I would recommend avoiding this place at all costs there was a Chinese buffet that would probably be much better than this location. read more

Parking lot was empty when we arrived. Ordered the cheesy coney dog with onion rings. They were out of ice cream or i would have gotten a shake. Hot dog came without onion rings and was told they would bring them out to me. Had to ask again for drink it was missing. Went back up 10+ minutes later for rings and saw them load a fresh batch into a family pack for the drive thru. Noone was using gloves. I asked for a refund and she said they were fresh. It was the wait and experience i was concerned with. She argued she could only replace it. I pointed out no gloves and no ice cream and bad experience. She said she'd replace it if i brought her food back and that they just got new managers and it wasn't her fault. She asked what i wanted. A refund. Came back with the money and receipt handed it to me then DEMANDED FOOD BACK AGAIN. Not after the transaction honey! Very unprofessional. Big handwritten signs. Everyone else's problems still exist. This was the worst experience I ever had at a Long John Silvers restaurant. I pulled into the drive thru and there were only 3 cars ahead of me. It took 36 minutes to get thru the line and get my food. I was watching everyone thru the window and they were just chatting and getting themselves drinks and didn't seem to care how long it was taking the people to get their food. Finally I got my food, went to a parking spot and I had not received any plastic ware or napkins. I had to go inside to get what I needed. I ask the girl behind the register to get me some plastic ware. She just looked at me. After she waited on the next client I ask a second time for what I need and she was very rude. She said I have to wait on these customers first. I said I am sorry but I just waited 36 minutes in line to get my food and I would like to eat. She mumbled under her breath and I couldnt' understand her. She had dark hair and a little plump and was very rude. She was working on 3/8/15 at 4:00 I will never go out of my way again to get food from them. They also had no root beer which was the main reason I went there to eat. read more

Horrible, horrible. I waited in the drive thru for 20 minutes before I was able to get to give my order. Two other cars ahead of me left while I waited. When I got to the speaker to order was told "be with you in a minute", 10 minutes later my order was finally taken. There was only one car ahead of me, they were at the window waiting for thier order. They did not take my order until the car had left. When I was finally able to order, I got a combo, was asked what sides would I like....they didn't have anything available but cole slaw and french fries. They should have told me that when they asked me what I wanted because I asked for green beans, "sorry don't have that", ok what about onion rings? "sorry dont have that", well what do you have? Only cole slaw and fries. There was no sorry for your looooooonnnnnnggggg wait, nothing. Food was even cold, not good. Looks like management needs to do some training, and make sure they have food available to serve customers. Very disappointed. I ordered the fish tacos and a clam meal. Should have taken my money and spent my time at another restaurant. Won't be making that mistake again. read more
