Bale Valley never has, and that's exactly why I keep coming back. Every visit, I order the Chicken Special. That perfectly crispy, golden skin is absolutely irresistible, the chicken is always juicy, and that dipping sauce ties everything together. Honestly, I start craving it before I even get there. It's also one of the very few meals that I always finish. No leftovers. Ever. Came here for takeout and the spring chicken is easily the best I've had in the SFV, juicy, well-seasoned, and absolutely worth the trip. Parking is tight, so ordering ahead like we did is the smart move. I also tried the green mung bean + red and white beans with coconut milk. The lady on the phone said it's their halo-halo, but honestly, it's nothing like the traditional Filipino dessert. It's still good creamy and comforting, but if you're craving real halo-halo, go to Pinoy's instead. My husband got the Thai iced tea. 1/14/2026: our first time here! I had not heard of this restaurant before today, but after a deep dive looking for the best Vietnamese restaurants in SFV, this popped up in the Top 3! They have a parking lot out front , and we were greeted warmly by our friendly server immediately upon walking in. I didn't catch her name, but she's from Da Nang and so welcoming! A more diverse menu than some of our other faves... and I kept seeing that they are famous for their "#53 House Special Deep Fried Cornish Game Hen Marinated in Oyster Sauce" (CƠM GÀ NƯỚNG DẦU HÀO). This golden beauty has a crispy exterior, and is plated on a generous bed of rice. Not "broken", but still delicious! Drizzle some of their nuoc cham over the rice and chicken for a little extra magic! Order first because it needs a new extra minutes to prepare. We also ordered the House Special Imperial Egg Rolls (CHẢ GIÒ). True confessions, I'm usually judgy when I see egg rolls with the smooth wonton style wrappers rather than the bubbly, blistery rice paper wraps.. but these noble egg rolls won me over regardless! The shrimp and pork filling was well seasoned and delicious! I couldn't decide between trying their pho or the Vietnamese udon noodles.. since we were feeling adventurous, I went with the BÁNH CANH TÔM, CUA, GIÒ HEO at our server's recommendation. It was tasty, had decent shrimps and even a real crab claw! The broth was a little mild until I added some of the juice from the fresh lime wedges and that awakened the flavor! The udon noodles were perfectly bouncy and we devoured the bowl! For a little something sweet; we ordered a Che 3 Mau to go. Our thoughtful server offered to pack the crushed ice on the side so the dessert wouldn't get too diluted. It was refreshing and hit the spot! Absolutely terrible experience. I took my dad here for Father's Day, and we were treated with disrespect the second we walked in. The woman at the front had one of the worst attitudes I've ever seen in a restaurant. I asked if they had a dish I wanted, and she snapped back "no" in the rudest, most dismissive way possible. I asked about another dish, and she gave the same nasty response again -- cold, rude, and completely unprofessional. It honestly felt like she was annoyed that we were even there. We never even got to try the food because the service was so bad it killed the entire experience before it even started. If you hate your job that much and can't speak to customers with basic manners, you should not be working in hospitality. There's no excuse for treating paying customers like this, especially on Father's Day when families are just trying to enjoy a meal together. They also serve basic Vietnamese noodle and pho, but they are very well known for the deep fried Cornish chicken. It comes with white rice and some daikons and fish sauce. I have not try any of their other food because every time I come here, I always ate the deep fried chicken. The service is great even if there is only one guy there taking order and doing everything there. The parking can be a challenge but there are parking in the back. It's around 35 miles from where I lived, but I try to go there at least once every 2 months. Thats how good it is. Great service and clean eating establishment. They need to spellcheck their food slides that shuffle through the monitors around the restaurant. LOL Food is yummy! Must be, because I have been coming here since 1999 or somewhere thereabouts. My recommendations are their oyster sauce marinated chicken with rice ($13) charbroiled shrimp with rice ($12) and the charbroiled pork chop with rice ($12). Also, the soups (pick your choice of noodles) are super popular and excellent on a cold day! I prefer the steak. For sweetness, get the coconut milk with boba (it's crystal boba). I usually order take out from Bale Valley. They are located in a little strip mall and Parking can be a little difficult. Staff is friendly and it takes 15-20 minutes for my order to be ready. They have a pretty large menu but this is my usual order: side of egg rolls, Chicken Pho (soup) on a nice cold day and the vermicelli noodles with Charbroiled Beef and egg roll (comes with sliced cucumber, shredded lettuce, bean sprouts, peanuts, pickled daikon radish and carrots, and fresh mints). I recommend adding the dipping sauce and mixing everything together. You can't go wrong. Full of flavors and not overpowering with the different spices. read more

We haven't been back to this place for a while and not sure what to expect although we tasted it's succulent Vietnamese deep fried chicken in many private parties. 1st of, the place has a very inviting ambience to have family or friend to dine in Our house special deep fried chicken was pretty succulent & juicy. The dipping sauce that comes with the dish, along with sweet & sour jalapeño condiments provided on each table will make one pretty much salivating & sweaty from the spicy taste of the green jalapeños. You can't go wrong with adding hoisin sauce to your plate if you feel it is too spicy for you Pork chop plate is also very tasty. I must say though, you'd better ask for a steak knife to cut the meat off the bone. Prices are very reasonable in $10 & $11 range. An extra add-on may cost as much as half the meal itself. So, if you are those who are into budget but want to have a bang for the bucks, stay away from extras. The proportion of the meal is excellent! A lot to eat for $10 or $11. My overall experience in this joint is very good. I need to go there to try a few more times to see what else is there that I may try to enjoy and share my experience with... I woke up a few weeks ago craving Cornish hen from this very particular place. (Incredibly bizarre given I haven't been here for more than 2 decades.) But the drive was just much too much of a hassle. So, I diligently did my Yelp search and found another spot way closer to home who serve it the way BaLe does. Tried it but didn't hit the spot. It had that main essence, but something was missing... Naturally, the unsatisfied craving just got worse every dang day! And then timing: close enough to the 405, I can drop by on my drive back from a NorCal trip. PERFECT. What a difference those couple of decades made! The outside appearance has improved a lot. New lit (not to mention bigger) sign: check. Parking: so much more convenient than forever ago. Also much improved interior. Much open and better lit than the last time. Hubbers and I were seated immediately. Since it was his first time (and mine, practically, given it's been DECADES!) we took our time with the menu. I was pretty set, though. Hubbers decided on their special pho. I went for the Cornish hen. We also decided to get an order of the crispy egg rolls. To wash it all down, I got the iced green tea. Hubbers got Thai iced tea with boba. It wasn't ten minutes when EVERYTHING got delivered to our table. I felt that unusually fast even for a joint like this, but... okay! EGG ROLLS: made to order HOT and fresh. Veggies that went with it were also fresh. This was a hit. Delicious: SPECIAL PHO: I had a few teaspoonfuls of the broth and I felt it was a little on the sweet side. Hubbers said it was okay. Yeah, well, his faced showed it all. It was really just, "Okay." Sadly, that's no more, but no biggie since Hubbers shared some from his bowl. VERDICT: as previously mentioned, the food came out way too fast which is probably why it wasn't as good as I remember it. I feel like the bird has been pre-cooked and got re-warmed somehow. (I'm don't want to use the word "microwave" but...) No part of the skin was crispy, some of the meat was dry and the only part the marinade got onto was the skin. The meat - both dark and white parts - were bland. (The flavor of the marinade used to penetrate all the way to the bone back in the day!) The only explanation I have for this is that the chicken wasn't marinated long enough. Still good, but I remember it being way better the last time. THAI ICED TEA: The tea itself was fine. The boba, however, was garbage. That was not boba, it was round jelly. And it was hard and crumbly which tells me it's OLD. It was deterring enough for Hubbers not to finish the drink. Had we known it's not the more popular round, dark, soft and chewy style, we would have skipped it. FOOD: 3. SERVICE: 2. No interaction other than ordering, food delivery and payment. VALUE: 5. The one thing I can't negatively comment on. They are very cheap for what they serve. PARKING: Private lot shared with a couple of other spots. Hit and miss for the most part. OVERALL: 3.25. If anything, I at least got rid of that annoying craving. I'd come back so long as I don't have to go out of my way for it. Just not sure when that'll be since I'm very rarely around this area.
