We came here as a family of six and had an incredibly disappointing experience. We ordered 3 phos: 2 P1s (the house special) and a P6 (short rib pho), along with two pork chop dishes. Unfortunately, almost nothing hit the mark! The pork chop was completely dry! My son took one bit and wouldn't touch it again, and my mother had to force herself to eat half hers. Even the pickled radish, my daughter's favorite, and carrots were off! They were watery with zero vinegar flavor. My daughter spit them out! Every single bowl of broth tasted sour and awful. The noodles also tasted old and stale. The only salvageable part was the meat, so we just ate the protein because we were starving. Though, the meat was flavorful, the texture was tough and a little chewy. When my mom paid for the check, my husband politely mentioned to our server that the broth tasted sour, just as a heads up in case other customers complained. The server spoke with the kitchen and kindly refunded a portion of the phos back to my mom's cc, which was appreciated. If you looked at our table when we left, it looked as though we barely touched our meal. In our haste, we should have just returned the porkchop, too. After posting about our disappointment on IG, four other people chimed in agreeing that it was the worst pho they've had, too (all four are Asian decent, two being Viet themselves). If you are looking for a nice dinner out, this place serves more as a quick cafeteria feel restaurant. Needed a bite and was in the area on a Thursday evening. Was best option to my y appetite from a long day. Not busy when I entered. Ice Cream cups in a display freezer ready to tempt you at the host station. Tables were clean and ready. Chose the House Special for a first try. Good taste. Reasonably priced. However menu indicated it came with beef meat balls in the mix. After digging around I found 1 single cit of a meatball. I asked the server if my order came with meat balls to confirm. She said no but could bring me a side order for additional charge which I did opt for in the end. Meat portions in that order are short and thin. Can't personally hate on that in the modern economy but slight annoyance. A little disappointing on that otherwise the bowl was enough to satiate. Servers checked on me multiple times while more diners came in for that last hour of dinner service. May try more in the future. read more

Yum! I had a great time dining here with family, and even though we came closer to closing time, we were warmly welcomed and provided with wonderful service. The portions are pretty big and the broth had great flavor. I actually had the Shrimp and Beef Vermicelli Bowl which was super fresh and filling. Don't let the exterior fool you -- with its fun lights, clean seats and pops of color, this pho shop in Porter Ranch is quite inviting and aesthetically pleasing on the inside. This restaurant has been here for two years, but we only recently noticed it and decided to venture in for lunch. We're glad we did! The menu features noodle soups, noodle bowls, rice dishes, hot pots, handheld appetizers like spring rolls and egg rolls, banh mi sandwiches, boba, smoothies and more. Great selection of veggie-friendly options for those who may appreciate it. We had the shrimp and pork spring rolls -- good, but very small portion of pork. We also had a couple of pho bowls. Mine came with short rib still on the bone, which I found to be a bit intimidating. Decent portions, several options to add spice, and overall delicious taste. Attentive and personable staff. Plenty of free parking available in the lot. Lastly, their website says they are closed on Tuesdays, but that seems to be outdated. They are open every day from 10am to 9pm. read more

Came here during a rainy day with the wife Wife got grilled pork spring roll for $6 (came with two) and create your own pho with beef broth, flat rice noodles and double brisket and flank (you get to choose 3 proteins). She really liked the broth flavor and tenderness of the meat. I got two Bahn mi sandwiches - one grilled pork and one grilled beef. Each was $9. Total after a small tip for takeout was about $44. Should cover two meals for each of us, so an acceptable amount. Next time we'll probably eat there though so the food is hotter and fresher. Might have sat too long as we ordered takeout, shopped at Amazon fresh and took our sweet time and then took the food home. Service was pleasant. Inside was bright, clean and had ample seating. Meat was a bit too overcooked for me personally before getting to me. Banhmi was decent. Chicken lemon grass... but not much lemon grass. This is my second visit here, but first time doing take out. The broth was still pretty hot 30 minutes later, but I still ended up microwaving it to get it hot enough to cook the raw beef slices. The pho here is pretty authentic and compares with some of the restaurants found in the SGV or Little Saigon. I do miss the tendon and tripe, but what do you expect for the Valley. read more

Popped in for dinner before heading over to the movie theaters down the road and it was perfect. I order from here often whether it's to go or to eat in the food is good here, I personally don't like pho but my sister and husband love it it's the only place they like to eat their pho from. She gets something spicy with shrimp and glass noodles I believe and my husband loves the house special. I have the vermicelli which is good the egg rolls are delicious and with a Thai iced tea yummmm. The people are nice, they're usually playing sports, but it's not crazy loud. Savory Pho, is a small but elegantly appointed Vietnamese restaurant at Tampa and Rinaldi, in Northridge. I have eaten here several times and the food has never disappointed me. One of their signature dishes is the Beef Luc Lac, which is also called Shaking Beef. It is touted as a French fusion of sweet & savory cubed filet mignon, stir fried with onion, garlic, butter, & oyster sauce....Served with steamed rice & soy sauce. This time, I got to the restaurant and then ordered it to go. They asked for payment (and tip) immediately and the take out bag came out in less than 3 minutes. I was floored. Because I was still in the process of trying to check in on Yelp :) So I asked the server bluntly, whether it was an already prepared, microwave job. Never have I got a carry out so fast. She replied by saying that they just cooked it. That was not accurate. When I got home, it was clear that the dish was not stir fried, there was no char, no wok fragrance on the dish or the cubed beef pieces. Half of the meat pieces were tender, the other half chewy. It also lacked freshness, flavor and spice with lackluster taste and definitely was not as I had experienced it before. More of a kind of boiled and reheat affair. Disappointing, to say the least (see my pictures of this dish from before). Furthermore, I recently got back from a trip to Vietnam, where I had this entree, perfectly prepared, in all its composition and splendor. But this story does not end here. After learning of my dissatisfaction, Michael, the owner communicated with me to apologize, offering to prepare the dish one more time or fully refund my check. You do not see this level of immediate, caring customer service often, if any. Mistakes can happen. And, it is only fair to give a hard working establishment the chance. So i did. They prepared the dish again, at the level it should be, succulent, seared and enticing. Customer service during this encounter was, also high class. Still our favorite place to diner in Porter Ranch because the Vietnamese food is nostalgic. The service is generally good but our favorite server is Carmen. She's friendly, quick, and always available as soon as we need anything. She must be very intuitive! I love the decor for lunar new year, but any time of year the restaurant is bright and clean. Now that we've tried more dishes, our current favorites are the Catfish soup, crispy pan fried noodle, and house special pho. The Catfish soup is sweet and sour with lots of fresh veggies. It's bright and comforting. The crispy pan fried noodle is a deep fried noodle that is super crunchy and is smothered in a sauce and topped with veggies and meat. It's very filling and we love it with the pickled chillies. The house special pho is a great way to have pho with a little bit of everything in a savory broth. A colleague had the hankering for pho, so we made our way down here for a quick lunch. We had a party of 14 and were seated quickly since the restaurant wasn't too full. The interior was brightly lit with LEDs all around, and American pop music from the aughts was playing. Although I would usually go for something like a bun thit nuong, I went for their pho dac biet to try their soup (the Savory House Special with Flat Rice noodles). Order was completed just as fast, which was surprising considering how large our group was and the variety of selections which included sides of chicken wings and spring rolls as well as iced coffee. The soup was delicious and included a decent amount of the beef steak, brisket, flank, tendon, tripe, and beef balls. I felt the flat rice noodles were slightly overdone and broke easily. Apparently Bugs Are a "Feature" Here So imagine our surprise when we discovered a spider floating in our soup. Not seasoning. Not garnish. An actual bug. When we flagged this to the waitress, instead of a normal reaction like an apology or, I don't know, not charging us, we were told that we should still pay 50% of the soup because "bugs are bugs -- it's not like it was a roach or a rat, it was just a spider." Oh okay. Glad to know there's a hierarchy of acceptable insects. Silly us for expecting zero bugs in our food. I really wish I would have taken a picture. The complete lack of concern, professionalism, or basic food safety was impressive in the worst way. Trying to minimize a bug in someone's meal and then charge them for it is wild. If you or someone that has an allergy of nuts, I recommend asking them to replace the sauce since it does come with actual peanut. Bún Bò Tôm Chà Giờ is a rice noodle with pork, shrimp, and egg roll dish that comes with a sauce to pour over. I most definitely recommend giving it a try since the dish is always my go-to dish whenever I go to a Vietnamese restaurant. It's like one of my comfort foods to eat at restaurants. Savory Pho used to be the best Pho in the valley...but it's gone drastically downhill. Three weeks ago my wife and I picked up our usual takeout order. When we got home, we noticed both of our soups were missing the usual cabbage. We thought it was just a mistake. Today, we got the same takeout again. I even asked the order person beforehand if cabbage is included...and he replied "Yes!". When we got home, much to our surprise, it was not only missing the cabbage, but now it was also missing the usual broccoli. Sadly, we won't be going to Savory anymore. I like how they put it in larger bowl, which made it easier to eat and out all the side toppings inside, like the Sprouts, jalapeños, and sauces. The ambiance is nice very clean and Modern decor. It's pretty spacious inside with lots of seating. Very comfortable setting with tvs inside to enjoy eating. Overall, I may me back to try other items on the menu. Was in the area and saw a new Viet restaurant. This place is a little too convenient so I just had to check them out. Originally I thought Savory Pho was going to be a new restaurant bringing their take on Vietnamese food so I had a certain mindset before I arrived. But as I approached the door, I saw something that changed my mindset again. It read Savory Pho by PHO999. I know the Pho 999 chain and love them. Looking at the menu online I see some dishes that would really hit the spot. Anyways, I'm already set we're good, lets go. As I reached the front door I see the by PHO999. It totally took me by surprise. The interior is very nicely decorated. They use a lot of light neutral colors with lighting all around giving a comforting feel. I noticed this place uses many different type of tables and chairs. Chairs being the example, in the center of the restaurant I saw some 4 legged with back chairs, then low stool seats then bench style seating. The perimeter had different types of chairs which was interesting to see. I ordered the Bánh xèo which is a dish that I don't see as often on Viet menus within the SFV and also ordered the Bún bò Huế. Both items hit their marks. I think it was too much food for one person but it was so delicious that I took on the feat without any hesitation. There were so many items I would like to try on the menu like their Bánh mì, some rices dishes and of course the pho. I normally get a Cà Phê Sữa Đá but I already knew it would be too much.
