I had a 32" round wall clock that didn't survive shipping to our home. The glass face was shattered. I contacted A Better Glass Shop and they said they could replace the glass. Initial estimate was $95. I didn't have an original piece of the glass so didn't know how thick it was. They said they would take into consideration how the glass was held in place and the stress on the glass when hanging on the wall to determine the best thickness. The final installed cost was $78. They are really busy and I had to call a couple of times to make sure everything was on track. Other than that it worked out better than I thought. The clock is back in action and on the wall. They also installed our new glass shower enclosure. Looks great. read more

As others have said: DON'T USE THIS COMPANY Had a window pane that needed replacement with a deadline of 2.5 weeks. They said this would not be a problem. Had to constantly keep on top of email communications and the timeline quickly diminished as they continued to give me details of how to take exact measurements even after I told them I didn't have the tools to be as accurate as needed. Just before installing, I asked them to come out and take the measurements themselves so we could do this once and be done with it. They never responded but just showed up unannounced to my home to take the measurements anyway. We then scheduled an install date and they are over an hour late despite my appointment being first thing in the morning (so other jobs they had shouldn't have been an issue). Also had to call them to ask where the person was and got placed on hold for over 5 minutes before I had to hang up and call again---that time I got right through and got a quick answer. Pretty sure he forgot I was on hold completely. Summary: Though I have nothing to compare it against, the pricing seems fair as far as I can tell. But with the very poor communication and lack of professionalism, I wouldn't go with this company again. Every step of the way I doubted whether they would be able to complete things on time and a ton of time was wasted with the back and forth emails. They were never rude but just didn't seem to have it together which caused a lot of extra frustration on our side. read more

The absolute worst service. The glass was wrong twice. The installer was on his phone planning a trip to the pumpkin patch the whole time he was trying to install the windows. The installer who measured was a smoker and the room smelled so bad after he left I had to air it out for hours. The worst ever. read more

I would never use this company again. I ordered a new slider door in mid July, they said they'd have it ready in 2 weeks. 5 weeks later it was finally ready. After installation, they left quite a mess for my renters to clean up. Scraps of wood, paper towels, and wood dust inside and outside of the house. Totally unprofessional. I'm the kind of person that always needs a project. I can also see potential in almost anything. Unfortunately for my mom, that almost always means I will recruit her for help. My latest find was a table made out of an ornate door. It would need a glass top - and miraculously I found one at the same thrift store I'd found the table - just a few days later. However; the thick piece of beveled glass needed to be trimmed down to 62 x 36. A Better Window Store is right near my mother's house (where I had dropped the glass off because I didn't have a glass store in my own neighborhood) so I chose to use them to cut it. I was irked that the glass was not completed on the day they'd told me it would - but that was because the glass cutter hadn't made it in the day he was to cut it and wouldn't be back in for a few days. The jury was still out on my review, until they completed the job on the next day they quoted - and knocked $10 off the quoted price. That meant I only paid $30 to have it cut, which was a screaming deal, according to me. Now, I am perfectly happy with my perfectly sized glass table top. read more

Called on a Monday to get a window repair quote. Said they could be out that day or the next. I realized I hadn't heard from them yet, so on Thursday I called them back. The dispatcher told me that the only guy they have, had surgery and couldn't make it out until Friday. I suggested that it would have been helpful to get a call notifying me of a missed appointment. Instead of apologizing, the dispatcher said, "Well, I doubt we said that we would be out there Monday anyways because we don't do same day quotes." So to review, this company no call / no showed an appointment, and then called a potential client a liar over the phone. Needless to say, I hung up. Let's see how well this business model works out for them. read more

Three trips and 5 weeks later I finally got my mirror back. Sadly, it took them that long just to trim 3" off of the end of a mirror.

Very bad quality. Came to pick up my glass and to start, the measurements weren't even correct. On top of that, they put this sticky paper on, probably to protect from scratches, but what's the point if you can't event get the sticky paper off??!! (Will definitely post pictures) Had to soak in water and scrape it off, causing scratches. It's funny how my adopted mother didn't have the sticky paper stuff but I did. If there is paper on your glass, ask them to take it off before paying for it and leaving. Will be taking my business elsewhere next time read more

They did a good job for a fair price. My only complaint was the hours. They're open 8:30 to 5, but you need to drop off and pick up between 3 and 5 to make sure someone is there. I understand they're a small business, but that's kinda restrictive. That being said, I had a good experience. read more

Called on Tuesday 1/2/18. They said they would come out in a couple of days to look at my broken window and email me when they had an estimate, and that it would probably take two weeks to get it fixed. I called over a week later, because I hadn't heard from them. The person I spoke with said he would have to call me back. I verified that he had my number. Needless to say, no one ever called me back. I don't know what to say. If I can't get you to even call me back, we are not doing business. read more

I used this company 10 years ago for several window replacements, one of which was a very difficult and complicated installation. They did a fantastic job. This year I had to replace nine windows that were 30 years old and the seals had failed. The installers were great and when it was discovered that two windows had slight manufacturing defects they were replaced promptly with no questions asked. Every installation turned out perfect. My view is that you can tell about a person or companies integrity when there is an issue and you see how they deal with it. If I were to need any glass issues I would recommend the team at A better glass shop. They came to my home and replaced my sliding glass door, they did an excellent job. I have had 3 other glass shops in the Portland metro area out to do the job and couldn't get it done correctly.I called A better glass shop and they were able to not only get the job done correctly and at a better price. I have used ABGS in the past and had a good experience, but twice in the past 8 months I contacted them to repair broken residential windows and their total lack of communication or follow-up now causes me to be here writing this review in hopes that they read this and change their ways. In one instance they sent someone to my home to measure multiple windows and they just never followed up afterwards, not even with pricing. I emailed and called them a few times but never got a response. In my most recent request they called me back to schedule a measurement, then all communication from them stopped and I never heard back. read more

My fireplace glass broke. I picked up the new piece of 1/4" 10x20 tempered glass but it had been made wrong. I picked up the 2nd and it was also not made correctly. I felt sure he had not ordered what I needed. The edges have to rounded and polished. The 3rd time it was OK but the size was 1/8" too large. He tried to convince me that was "the industry standard". Nonsense! I have been in construction many years and ordered glass many times. It is always cut exactly as ordered. The guy is full of prunes. One year later the glass broke again so I ordered from this same shop again (dumb). He said 4 or 5 days. I called the tempering plant and they confirmed mfg time is 5 work days. After two weeks and two trips to the shop, it was still not ready. After 5 weeks I gave up and cancelled. He did not seem concerned. I ordered from his competitor and had the glass one week later. paid for 2 windows 32x72 for $674. took 2 weeks for the window to come in and another 2 weeks for them to make it out to the house.. when they came to install i inspected one of the windows before they installed it and found a "clamshell" chip. the installers didn't even notice it.. i refused it and let them install the one window that was not damaged. i was not impressed with there installers or the service appointment commitments so i cancelled installing the 2nd window. got a bid for the 2nd window from estacada glass. installed for $158 for the same exact window. they showed up the same day to remeasure and installed 2 days later.. what a great company..
