I was recently in a car accident where I hit my head on the steering wheel and I didn't really know what was going on and this towing company just showed up and told my car. I really didn't have a say they ended up stealing so much stuff from my car, they destroyed my personal possessions. The towing they did for me was great but the invoice they sent me didn't have any of my car information on it so I couldn't get reimbursed from my insurance company. Extremely unprofessional. AVOID AT ALL COSTS IF YOU CAN. Wife and I were in an extremely bad car accident, unfortunantley the Sheriff that was supposed to grab my wife's purse that has both of our insurance cards as well as our forms of identification and credit/debit cards failed to do so so all of it was left in the vehicle which we were informed was taken to A/C towing. The next day we try to send a friend to retrieve our belongings from the car who was denied, even WITH a notorized letter of release which we'd been informed to provide by our insurance company. They forced my wife (car is in her name, and they only release to whoever owns the vehicle) to drive 2 hours down there to get her stuff when the doctors told her she should be on bed rest for at least a week. Would give zero stars if possible. There is absolutely NO reason for this to happen to anyone ever. PERIOD. read more

DO NOT USE THIS TOW COMPANY IF YOU HAVE ANY SAY!!!! If using AAA tell them please do not use this company. Unfortunately we did not have that choice. My son's vehicle was impounded using this tow company. I got a call from my son saying to pick up car at the tow yard. I called them immediately and of course since I was not the registered owner they said I couldn't get it. I told them I had power of attorney and they said it needed to be a court ordered POA.(no such thing). I've had to do this on a previous occasion and I know what I needed to provide (a document of release by the registered owner and stamped by the sheriff dept). I got the document and went to the tow yard. They argued that I still needed something from the court taking full responsibility over everything in my son's life. They said this was state law and what the sheriffs have told them to do. I left, googled and nothing they said was true. My husband and I went to a sheriff office and got a very caring Deputy. Without anymore lengthy details a higher up in traffic dept called the tow yard a told them to release the vehicle to us immediately. They are fraudsters trying to take possession of a valuable car or at the very least expand the daily fees for as long as they can with lies and taking advantage of people that may take what they say as factual. The company has been reported to the DMV police, the sheriff dept, the BBB, AAA and the CHP. read more

This place is not compliant with the law and they take advantage of consumers who's vehicles were impounded. They refuse to release personal property with a signed letter of release with photo of DL from the registered owner who currently lives in Texas. They refuse a notarized POA to release JUST the personal property in the vehicle. At this point, it's obvious they just want the vehicle(it's a very nice car) and my belongings inside the vehicle. I have filed a formal complaint with the Department of Consumer Affairs regarding the matter and am currently seeing help from an attorney to sue this towing company. The registered owner and I are currently working with an attorney on a letter to demand the release of the personal property. June 30, 2020 Obviously, there is never a good time to have car trouble and be in need of a tow. On Sunday, 6/28/2020, while heading home from Dana Point, CA, with my 9 year old daughter after a day at the beach, my car started acting up and wouldn't accelerate past 40 MPH. Several inquiries later I could not find an open repair shop (remember it was a Sunday evening about 5:00 p.m.) I did the next best thing and called AAA. 57 miles from home and only the first 7 miles are covered, so I was responsible for the remaining 50 miles at $10.00 per mile which equaled $500.00. I agreed, being stuck 57 miles from home, nearing sunset, I had no choice. My complaint is not about the $500 fee, it is about the ruthless, uncompassionate treatment I received after that. I was told that due to COVID-19, my daughter and I would have to find our own way home. But wait, this was Orange County, CA, it's open! The bars, restaurants, hotels, beaches are all open and masks are neither required nor mandatory! The tow truck driver even arrived without gloves or a mask! Mind you, my daughter and I both had our own masks just as a precaution. So here we are, almost 60 miles from home at an ARCO station on PCH with no way to get home. I was not going to pay for an Uber or other service on top of the $500 to get the car home. A family member drove down to retrieve us, a 100 mile round trip for her. I'm grateful that we didn't break down and were left abandoned on Interstate 5! Of course the tow truck arrived at my home almost 2 hours ahead of us. The driver expected payment on the spot. Yet, the person who was going to pay for the tow was left behind in Dana Point. Did he really think that we would magically arrive before him? The driver was in a no win situation and had no choice; he was just following the orders from his company. The driver would not provide the name of his manager. Perhaps because management treats their employees with the same reckless disregard as their customers. And this is the "face" of AAA? A.C Towing in San Clemente is heartless and lacking in any integrity or human decency. They should be ashamed of the way they conduct business. I hope AAA will reevaluate the business practices of A.C. Towing and no longer contract with this company. read more

AC Tow is incompetent. They sent me updates on when a truck would arrive, but it never did. I called but they put me on hold for 15 minutes. When I hung up and called back, they tried to put me on hold again. I told the girl I wasn't going to be put on hold again - that I want an answer on when my car was going to be picked up. She said I was being rude. I never raised my voice, cursed or threatened her. Then she said they never got the request and wouldn't be picking up my car. This is after I waited 3 hours! This company is absolutely the worst most disrespectful company I have ever had to deal with. My car was stolen a few days ago and I received a call that the ocsd recovered it and that it was at ac towing in San Clemente. The dispatcher told me I could go pick it up. I went to pick it up and the owner of the tow yard was bringing my truck in at that moment and so I told him I was there to pick it up. I was with my 5 year old son as he was very interested in the whole situation with police officers and tow trucks and what not so I decided to bring him along. The guy at ac towing started belligerently screaming at me to get out of here and that I wasn't welcome. My son was so scared he ran back to the truck and hid in the back seat. I already had high anxiety as the stolen truck contained all the necessary machinery and tools for my small business, of which I had spent my life savings on, and that's the reason I needed to see inside the truck. I needed to know if they were still in there. Now it's Monday morning the next day. I received another call from dispatch that my truck was ready to pick up. She also said that because CSI was doing an investigation on the stolen vehicle that the county was going to cover the charges. I went in and after 40 minutes of them trying to figure out how to work their computer he approaches me aggressively again and says it'll be $260. I explained to him that the dispatcher had informed me it wouldn't charge me. He yelled at me yet again and told me to get the hell out of his building. Worst company ever. I had an accident on the 5 fwy and I called my car company to tow my car. The tow truck arrived and lead me to believe that they were the company that my car company sent. They had the car on their truck when I figured out that they were not the tow company that I had ordered a tow with. When I confronted the tow driver, he immediately starts to state why I legally cannot get another company to come and get my car now which leads me to believe that this is a common thing for them. So they tow my car to their yard because now they can charge you a ridiculous amount of storage fees for the storage of your car. Joan in the office made it extremely difficult to allow my insurance company to pick up the car. They will do anything to hold onto your vehicle so they can charge you storage fees that are ridiculous. Stay away from this company if you don't want to have to pay their huge storage fees. read more

Got into an accident and this was the towing company that took my car in. Called and spoke to Joney who was super rude when trying to ask for information. When I went to pick up my car I was on the phone with my roadside company and Joanne kept looking over her shoulder making smart remarks like "they are so frustrating" and "this is taking them forever." I asked her why she was so frustrated and she said because we are in the office when we can wait in my car. Excuse me? We are trying to fix our situation. She was on her phone to what looked like browsing the internet and then grabbed a book. All while on the clock. And to top it off she along with her coworker were not following the Covid safety precautions of wearing a face mask! I asked her why she wasn't following state guidelines and she said she was taking medicine and didn't need to wear anything! She was completely rude, loud, and very condescending. I would NOT recommend this company. And this lady needs to get fired! After getting into an accident and having a life threatening experience this is the least thing you would want added to the stress! I am a drivers' ed instructor employed in south Orange County running on a tight schedule. I had the misfortune of driving over a large nail today resulting in a non-repairable flat tire. I called AC Towing located here in San Clemente. The receptionist who took my call was absolutely lovely and quickly dispatched an operator to assist me. "TC" arrived within minutes, was extremely friendly and courteous, and very obviously a seasoned professional! After a brief conversation, he immediately went to task, hooked up and safely towed my car to a local tire shop. I am writing this review for my elderly Momma. She does not have Yelp so I told her I would write the review for her. I couldn't believe what she was telling me about how disrespectful Joan at AC Towing was to her this afternoon. After she had called her several times to get her paperwork in order to get her car released. When they (her and my elderly sick father) finally got all the paperwork she said they needed another document ( not mentioned before on the previous phone calls). Nope they needed one more signature. Ugh! She was rude and mean to them telling them to leave and go. That she couldn't do anything. She was bothered by them. When my momma asked for her name she got very defensive and wouldn't give her last name. She said she was the owner. Really? If there was a lower rating, I would choose that one. Joan, the office lady seems to be an unhappy human being with no sense of positive customer service. Typing with one finger, must be difficult to get her work done so she is frustrated... And that reflects / shows up on her inability to show customer service. She seems to be incapable of forming full sentences or actually listen. Snappy could be one word to describe her, ugly personality another. Thank goodness the experience only lasted 30 mins. For the type of service they provide, she truly is a misfit. She should hired someone else if she's the owner, or the owner needs to hire someone else.
