We stopped on our way to Central Park. My daughter wanted hot chocolate and a snack. We ordered hot chocolate, coffee, tea, and pancakes. It took a really long time at each step. When we asked for the check, the waitress took my daughter's plate of half eating pancakes she was still working on without asking and it was too late before we realized. This place is the cafe of a hotel, so it's pretty small but not a ton of people know about it. We came by for brunch at noon on a busy weekend day and had no trouble getting a table although they were always at near capacity. However, their food/prices are good and worth stopping by if near Central Park. The lemon ricotta pancakes are amazing and i could have probably eaten three orders myself. Literally, probably the most amazing food I have had in NY so far. You get so much for what you pay for and the staff is very generous and accommodating. I asked for a side of smoked salmon and they gave me enough for a full meal for the cost of a side. They're delicious and full of flavor. The restaurant is so clean and sleek, as well as their bathrooms. The manager walks around to ask you about your experience, which I appreciate. Staff seems to work as a team. Only thing I have to say negatively is that the Bloody Mary, for $10, was not worth it. It tasted like regular tomato juice with vodka. I liked spiced bloody Mary's better, but that's just me. This was a strange place. Walked in after a day in Central Park, and as its conveniently located near the Plaza I thought it might be a nice place for coffee and lunch. It's very modern inside, but not exactly nice. And no one welcomed us when we came inside - so it was confusing if we should seat ourselves or order from the barista. I think this is part of a boutique hotel so the guests were mainly hotel guests. One star off for the confusion and strange environment. However, the latte was good (expensive at $5, and no barista design unfortunately) and the tuna melt was delicious and simple. It came with a side salad. It was all $14 after the 15% yelp discount. I read about the bourbon French toast and had to venture there. It's a small, contemporary place attached to a hotel. Was greeted right away and seated. I ordered my coffee and French toast and enjoyed watching the people walking by the storefront while sipping my wake up potion. The food came and it looked appetizing. First time going to this cafe. It was a bit packed when I came in but by the time I left half empty. My friend and I both got the Thé du Hammam and asked for honey with it. It was delicious! I got the chicken caprese with a side of salad. It was nice and crispy with nice taste that wasn't overpoweringly flavorful. My friend got the pulled pork sandwich. He said it was really good and not too saucy. He only wish it had a toothpick in it or something so that it wouldn't fall apart so easily. Overall great place. 4/5 stars because the service could've been a bit better. Our table wasn't full set when we were seated and so we didn't have utensils or napkins... I came here twice because of promotions on the Ritual app ($5 off). The first time, I ordered a latte with oat milk. The brand they use is supposedly a very low quality one. Definitely reflects in the taste. My oat milk latte was not pleasing. The second (and last) time, I ordered the avocado toast. I didn't think you can do avocado toast wrong, but they serve this dish with absolute injustice. It was SO soggy, even just seconds after I opened the takeout box. I couldn't pick up a piece without the bread sagging. I only paid $4.80 because of the promotion, but I don't know how they charge a ridiculous $9 for it. The orange juice was fresh squeezed and not tart. It only comes in one size. The syrup they serve is not real, meaning in contains corn syrup. This was the only hitch we discovered. As a result we changed our first order choice. The servers were friendly and efficient. The decor can be described as simplistic and modern. The environment was clean and quiet. Everyone was able to converse without having to shout over music or restaurant bustle. There appears to be seating for about 20 people, so there may be a wait. We only waited for a few minutes. Love this place, first, its really close to central park, perfect spot for brunch after weekend morning park strolling. Food: we came here for brunch. We got the bfast burrito, three eggs omelet, and the du hamman tea. I'm not a huge tea person, but i'm impressed with the du hamman. Loved the natural sweetness from the dates and rose petal in it. Will have to find this tea bag in Chicago. The omelet is different from the ones i used to have, in a good way. The egg is spread pretty thin with a thin layer of ham and spinach laid on top, everything is layered instead of whisked with the egg before cooked. Love how it came out. Very nice looking spot for my tastes as it was quite modern. Based on the reviews I was debating between the pancakes or the French toast, so I asked. The verdict was the French toast. A word of caution if you order this: be hungry and see the photo. A nicely done order of French toast, fresh fruit, and glazed pecans arrived I managed to down the entire thing. I think I would have cooked the toast a little longer as some bites were verging on soggy, but as I say that didn't slow me down. Lots of vanilla flavor in there, too. All told I only took one star away for the service- extremely pleasant people, but there seemed to be confusion at the start and end as to who was working my table. I saw the other complaints on other reviews and I can imagine if they were busier that this could become an issue. My girlfriend and I were in New York for my birthday weekend/romantic getaway, and this restaurant was our final dining stop before going home. This place seemed most elegant from our Yelp search, so we decided to eat here at around 11 AM. The menu wasn't anything spectacular. Typical modern restaurant with pancakes, sandwiches, and omelets. I ordered lemon ricotta pancakes without many expectations, but I thought the lemon creme fraiche blended so well with the pancakes. Flaky pancakes + sweet, thick lemon cream made the food taste fruity and zesty. It was nice to swallow that down with smooth latte I ordered with my food! My girlfriend's burger seemed quite good as well. Well-cooked, fresh, but nothing too exceptional. It was good enough to satisfy the taste buds, and she was content. I also enjoyed the modern, chic atmosphere, but it's also the reason why I'm giving four stars instead. While the inside looked futuristic, we thought it was a bit too dark. Also, the distance between the tables was a bit too close, and I bumped into the table next to ours while going to the restroom. And lastly, it was a bit strange that there was a small counter to order coffee when you enter the restaurant, but there is no seating whatsoever for people who just want coffee. Personally, it's not a huge deal, but my point is that this restaurant has its imperfections too. I want to send special compliments to our server, Dana, for not only a great service and but also opening up to us about her life. Since the three of us were in the same age range, we ended up having good conversations about our lives and the current challenges we are facing. It's not easy opening up to strangers about your life, and I just want to say thank you for trusting us and being courageous to share some of your difficult life events. It was probably the most empathetic experience we had at a restaurant, and you really deserve better. The egg was burnt brown, the fillings were greasy burnt and yet somehow still raw... the bacon was pure glistening white and flavorless.
