I encourage you, if you are reading this to not use this mechanic, and if you have a car there to get it removed from them as soon as possible. Here is a brief description of my experience. I see, by reading below, that several other customers have had a similar experience. My car needed to be towed when it broke down. The driver towed it to A-Car Auto Repair Services. I was told before the car was towed the rate of the repair and that I would not be billed for storage. It was Saturday, therefore I was told that I would be contacted on Monday morning to discuss and begin the repair. I was called an hour later and told that the same repair discussed would now be billed at around 40% more than what I was quoted before the car was towed. There was nothing more wrong with the car, just the price had changed once they had possession of the vehicle. I was also told at that time I would be billed $50 a day for storage, even though I had been promised I would not be billed a storage fee. I told the A-Car Auto repair representative that that was unacceptable and that they must honor what I was originally quoted. They told me I had until Monday at 10am to remove the car from the premises or I would be billed $50 for storage. In addition the reasons I was given for the high price were very shady. I called my brother who does mechanics, and my regular mechanic who both told me I was being taken advantage of and broke down the cost and repairs for me. On Monday I called and told them I would have the car towed by 10am to my mechanic. They said they would give me until noon, and then would bill me $50. I called AAA to have the car towed, and we agreed that I would pay them a small towing fee over the phone once the car arrived at the new mechanic. About 10 minutes later I received a call from A-Car Auto saying that they had inserted themselves as the company who would be towing my car to the new mechanic. They refused to tow it there, unless I gave THEM a payment for towing it. By this time is about 11:15am, and I am getting close to the 'storage fee' time. This is the definition of a scam. A-Car had complete control over the situation and I felt bullied and threatened. I told them I would call AAA and have a different tow company pick up the car, and that they must release the car to them. The representative at A-Car Auto then told me she was going to call AAA herself and let them know that I didn't want the car towed at all. What!!!! I told her not to call AAA, and to not take any further action. She was hostile. I had to hang up. I called AAA. I let the rep know what was happening. He said that he would have them tow it, but he was going to keep a close eye on the situation. He said he would inform them that they are not to put a 12pm deadline on the tow situation, and are not to bill me for storage. I filed a complaint with AAA, which I have never done in 20 years. I encouraged them to please remove this shop from their roster. I truly hope that they do. This company is over quoting on their prices for parts and labor, and manipulating situations so that they are sure to be able to bill for something. People using them are likely in a crisis situation already and they are taking advantage of it. I am deeply disappointed in this company. read more

I saw my engine light was blinking and power was much less on my car so I called AAA and the dispatcher directed me to this shop. I talked to one of the employees there and he basically told me to take my car back since it was still running. My car was having issues even tho it was running. That was the whole reason why I took my car there but I guess my car needs to be inoperable in order for them to take a look. I'm not sure why this shop was approved by AAA. read more

I am taking time out to write a updated review because this place deserve a high recommendation. HONESTY AND REASONABLE PRICE. As a marketing person these are two of the most important words to a customer especially dealing with auto repair issues. I moved back to Pasadena three years ago. I brought my Lexus SUV to "One Stop Auto" in Eagle Rock for a oil change. After waiting for an hour..the manager came to tell me that my radiator needs replacing. He showed me that there were white residues around the cap and that the anti freeze was low...which are indication of radiator leak. They told me that I had to replace the whole radiator which cost around thousands. Thank goodness I have guy friends who gave me good advice and stayed away from this place. Couple months later, my battery died. I called AAA, who sent a driver from "A CAR AUTO REPAIR SERVICE". After charging up my battery , I showed him my radiator and asked if my radiator needed replacing. He asked if I had any leaks when I parked. I said no. He told me the white residues are common and that my car indicator light would of come on if there were any issues. I thanked him for his honesty...and used them for the next oil change...which were efficient and reasonably priced. A year later, one of my head light went out. Vic, manager informed me that it costs $300, from Lexus dealer...however, he found a generic head light for half the price. He went out of his way to save me money when he could of easily charged me $300. I have been a loyal customer now going on 3 years. I have so much confidence in Vic's honesty that I am trusting him in servicing my Porsche today. I am thrilled to find a auto shop that are still personable, efficient, honest and reasonably priced. Scammers. Agree with Taylor M. They grossly over charge for services and take advantage of people. These are the kinds of shops that give other shops a bad name. It's probably a chop shop in cahoots with the City of Pasadena. Just look at the sloppy business presence they have. Tools and parts lying around everywhere. Just read through the reviews and for the people who got towed, well - it happens and when it does it sucks all the way around, but I don't know if blaming these guys is valid for a lot of people. I had a repair issue and although I thought the worst (transmission issues), the tech, Ray who was helping me calm me down, talked me through the whole thing and convinced me to wait for panic. He was super patient when I called 3 or 4 times with answers that I found in forums. I even asked him if I was better off at the dealer, to which he answered honestly and then offered to take back the car after it could be diagnosed by the dealer techs (knowing that it would be cheaper). I am happy the repair wasn't outrageous in cost or length of time they had the car, but I was extremely happy at how they handled and know-it-all, nervous customer. ;) read more

My car was damaged at the car wash leaving a bad dent on the rear fender. Harry and his team had the dent completely repaired in less than 2 days. It looks as good as new. Harry's team did the work fast and with attention to detail. They even completely washed and cleaned the car upon pickup. When I had a roadside emergency, AAA had A-car on the scene to me within 15 minutes. My car had to be towed because I needed a new alternator. This incident happened on a weekday morning so they had my car and up going again before the end of the day! Subsequently, I brought in my car for some minor repair work. If I could give this location zero stars, I would. I created a Yelp account, just so I can write this post. I'm a local notary and was hired to notarize a letter of vehicle or property release, authorizing his sister to pick up the customer's motorcycle from A-Car Auto Repair Services because he was involved in a hit-and-run accident. The moment I walked in the office door of the tow yard, I was greeted by a very rude receptionist. They would not accept my notarized letter and had the audacity to want me to just stamp a random piece of paper instead of accepting my attached California-compliant notary language. They also did not have a form containing the specific information they were requesting to release the motorcycle. I genuinely believe this was done intentionally to keep the motorcycle for as long as possible. They also refused to provide written instructions just so they could not be held liable. The owner Harry even kicked us out and said he had a business to run and had no time for us. We still did not really get exact clarification and understanding as far as what was needed to remove the motorcycle from the tow yard. They had told me that i had to wait for 30 minutes for the service to arrive. 6 minutes had just passed when A Car auto technician was right there in front of my car. Perhaps one of the cleanest and most organized auto repair facilities I've ever visited. I brought my vehicle in for inspection and maintenance, I was greeted with a bottle of water and the option for coffee and pastries. Besides their hospitality I was quite impressed by the mechanics works space being so clean and how he wore gloves preserving my interior from getting greasy or dirty. hi harry (owner of a-car), i hope your reading this, i will be contacting the bbb and consumer affair as well. i already complained to triple a in regards to your driver who lied to me and tripple a. your driver showed up 40 min late, with a bad attitude. he took one look at my car and said we cannot tow this vehicle because it's illegal to tow a vehicle that is non opp status. i need a special permit, and that triple a will not do it because it's illegal. i let him know california law prohibits non opp vehicles to be driven, or have any wheels on public road, no laws pertain to it being on the flatbed of tow truck. he then says nope i cannot do it, and leaves. i called triple a and explained everything and they said that is not true, all false and he should've helped you... the woman than says the driver offered me a cash option to tow my car, big lie, never offered that to me. i told her that he never offered that, but then she replies, if its illegal to tow as he said, why would he put in the notes that he offered a cash option???? i told her either way you slice it he is lying to me, and to your triple a saying he offered me a cash option. i am sure you would like to get to the bottom of this matter, the pount is, this driver needs to be replaced by someone who is honest... you run a tow business and a bodyshop, if your drivers lie, who else lies in your business.... your driver is shady to the max, i have another tow company on their way thru triple a. she made sure no one from a-car is coming here. bad business lies and bad for triple a customers. don't ever take your car there who knows what might happen... read more

Didn't have the best experience. I don't know maybe they are good mechanics but the tow/impound needs some work. My truck got impounded because of late registration (my fault) from the City of Pasadena. Ok not the end of the world. The City of Pasadena must have a contract with these guys because they came to tow my truck and as they leave give us just a phone #. That's it! No Address, No company name, No info at all. They don't tell you where to pick up your vehicle?!? I called the phone and its Parking Citations in Pasadena. Called about 15 times and leave 2 messages. So you impound my truck and give me a phone number that no one answers. They make you figure out everything out on your own. Head down to the DMV pay my fees and that's all right? Nope! Had to call around different tow yard to see who had my truck, because they don't tell you. Finally we found out who has it and now they notify us we have to go to the city of Pasadena to pay a $150 fee and get a release so I can get the truck. Fine! Take care of that and pay the $150. Now that I have the address it's time to get my truck. I called ahead of time and Jenna notified me the charge was $225. Okay I get it you're a tow company so you need to make money. Upon showing up I now find out the charge is $289 for storage fee. Ok fine we pay the fee. Now it's time to get my truck. Sorry your truck isn't here, it's at another lot and we close at 5pm. What the Heck dude. Why didn't you tell me that my truck wasn't here, and why am I paying you a storage fee for a truck that's not at your lot??? What a joke. Ok I get the actual address of where the truck is and they know it's just 1 person headed there. Figured I better get the truck so I don't have to pay another fee then leave the car and drive the truck back and I'll pay for an uber back to the lot to get the car. Arrived at the lot and the driver holding my truck says if the car is left they will tow it because there is no parking over here. That just about did it. Your companies communication stinks. Terrible experience, when it could have been not so bad if they would have told me everything upfront and not cool to say $225 on the phone and leave out the extra $64 until people arrive at your place, and extra not cool to not let me know the truck is not at your lot, and extra extra not cool to knowingly allow 1 person to go pick up their vehicle and then tell them if you leave your car you will tow it. Let people know things ahead of time. Pasadena and A Car Auto get your lives right and stop being greedy. Especially Pasadena MAKING millions each year off of parking Citations. I was considering giving a rating of 1 star but maybe other employees are better. I needed a tow to my home. I used AAA and the independent contractor that was sent was from A-car Auto Repair Services. He arrived in a timely fashion and we got the process started. As we are towing/driving to my home, I thought I should mention correct directions to my home. I mentioned to the driver that I know many/most drivers use google maps or some other app to get directions but I told him that sometimes these directions are incorrect and/or might direct him from the incorrect direction to drop my car off. I live on a very narrow street and there would be no room for a U-turn to drop my car in front of/at my home. I told him that my street name, cuts off at one point and restarts a bit further north. He told me that it doesn't! Really? Like I don't know where I live. He mentioned a street that he would follow to get to my home. I told him, no, that was incorrect because it was wrong. Although I was sitting right beside him, he wouldn't listen to me and just allow me to give him directions. He insisted on showing me his phone with the directions on it. I then see that he had the wrong directions for my address. His phone had me at East but my address is West. Once I saw it and told him, West, he STILL refused to take my directions and just corrected the address on his phone. How darned rude! I'm sitting right there, dude!! He never apologized to me for his rudeness. I know he was aware I wasn't pleased with his tone and attitude because I told him how tired I was of being dismissed. Still no apology. I don't know if he thinks women are stupid or something (apparently that's what he thinks since in his mind I can't get to my own house) but I didn't care for the attitude (and he was a bit rude at our initial contact when he first arrived as well). Finally.....AAA got it right with this company....Expert Loader...loaded up my Harley with no issues....Tied her down, nice and tight so she didn't move. Very Respectful Gentleman! From the start he was very respectful of my motorcycle, and of myself. Very clean cut and professional. We had a long ride, Pasadena to Riverside....and he was not boring at all...we conversed all the way there. WOULD GIVE THIS 0 STARS OR NEGATIVE IF I COULD. The worst, unprofessional, rude, condescending, aggressive, sexist, and racist behavior from the mechanic with the thin eyebrows that was "helping" us. Specifically writing my first Yelp review to warn others about this place. Just got out off the phone with AAA as well for them to flag this terrible, shady, so-called "business". It's not by chance that pretty much all the recent reviews of this place are awful. Went in just a bit ago with my mother as my sisters' car ignition was erratic all day and would not start. As a AAA truck was blocking the entrance we parked our car 10 feet away on the street. The mechanic we encountered was extremely rude from the get go with attitude. We kindly asked if he could help us take a look at the ignition because it mysteriously started working on and off today. His response was that "You have to wait until the AAA truck moves!" I asked if he could just please walk over to take a look as we were parked so close, he refused. There were no customers other than us therefore he was not occupied at the time, he had been casually standing around. He could not even be bothered to walk 10 feet to our car when he had nothing else to do. He treated us like we weren't even human, disbelieving the fact that we had JUST taken in our car yesterday to the dealer due to a flat tire. He questioned us as if were lying. I brushed off his behavior telling myself to just be patient as this may just be his "normal" tone with customers. I walked away briefly to get in touch with my sister about the car issue. When I came back I noticed his tone and delivery was getting increasingly agitated with my mother. English is not my mothers' first language, she politely asked if he could please take a look at the brake fluid level as the car gave us an alert that it was low. Therefore, we were curious if that had anything to do at all with the ignition issue. He YELLED at my mother saying, "WHY WOULD YOU WAIT UNTIL YOUR BRAKE FLUID WAS AT 5%? YOU SHOULD HAVE COME IN WHEN IT WAS AT LEAST 20!" At this point I had to address his behavior and cut him off. I had been patient this far by not saying anything. I called him out and told him that he was extremely unprofessional, rude, and condescending. He tried to engage in a VERBAL FIGHT with me after, telling me to go elsewhere, that THEY DID NOT WANT OUR BUSINESS. If you're female STAY AWAY. If you're asian STAY AWAY. He took one look at us and decided that he did not want us as customers because of our race and sex. I'm extremely shaken up and disturbed. Happy to deal with this car issue elsewhere. read more

This review is for their towing service, which I got through AAA. The driver, Erick, arrived quickly, got my car up on the truck, and then deposited it in a very narrow parking space at my mechanic's shop. He had to do some impressive acrobatics with the tow truck but he got it in there perfectly. Plus, we were in a huge hurry to get to the car rental before it closed and he did it all fast. Shady shady shady. These guys are running a scam operation. They get called to tow your car - and "close the business" at 6pm Monday-Friday, even though they tow 24 hrs, 7 days a week. So if you happen to get towed in the afternoon, you can't possibly get there in time to pick up your car, which adds up to $50/day of extra charges for "storage". Your car's arrival on their lot is considered "storage" so even if you get there on the same day, you'd pay for a day of storage. The owner is Hratch "Harry" Kouladjian but his front desk people are very defensive about giving out his full name. Be aware and if you're unlucky enough to get towed here, get ready to pay. I'd like to know how these guys got approved to be on the police list of tow places and how we can get them off that list. read more

The guy who runs this place leaves a lot to be desired - in fact, I think he's a shady character, whom I do not trust. Vic is the guy to ask for when you call - really nice, trustworthy, personable and far from shady. He's a straight shooter, and has cared for my car as if it were his own. More than once I took it to the dealer for recall items, have come back to him with a list of "repairs" that the dealer thought was necessary (and very costly), and Vic has honestly told me which were in fact necessary, and which were BS. And he has always given me a fair price. They'll give you a ride if you're in town, too. read more

To be honest, there is no place in a world like a hell but A-Car auto collision Center. I feel like I was in a hell dealing with those people at A car -collision. my first-time collision. I do not know anything about and let the office tow-in. and they tow-in and drop the care at 1160 E. Walnut Street Pasadena, CA 91106, Phone number 626-356-3094. Immediately I find out that they charge money fro keeping my drivable care in Collision Center, I was trying to get it to release. The operator lied to me that I cannot get my care out because it is out of business hours, at 1200 sat. in fact, when I look at it online their operation hour on Sat is until 2 pm. Sunday again they close. Monday they do not release my care to me although I pay 286 $ for towing and 120 X a day for 3 days. It is way too overpriced and my own care is not being released. They keep one more night for my pink lip to release my car. + altogether they charge me 120 X 4 and 286. the total of 766$ for 4 night sleep in their Collision Center for nothing although I can be able to put my care in my garage. read more

On a drive down to San Diego, my car broke down while passing Pasadena and was towed to A-Car Auto. I was skeptical at first, just since it was a new place I'd never been to. I was quickly surprised at how diligent they were, especially the main tech, Ray. I got a call first thing in the morning before they even figured anything out, just to let me know that they were starting to look at my car and wanted me to know when to expect some information. I don't know how I felt about the mechanic, since he would accuse me of not telling him information about the car and seemed to go about things in a haphazard way, but once I got to know Ray more, I knew it was alright since it was in Ray's hands. Every step of the way, even though it turned out that my head gasket blew and the cylinders got destroyed from a massive over-heating and I needed a new engine, Ray sent me pictures of the details as it went along and showed me everything when I was there so I would stay updated. Even though I don't know much about cars, I showed the pictures and described the issues to several friends who do know a lot about cars, and it all checked out. Right off the bat, Ray gave me a worst-case-scenario quote for a new engine and everything, which was of course expensive, but realistic. As the price of the repair climbed, Ray held to his word of the quote, and even though many parts would have pushed it over that price, he covered them and kept the price down to what he said. He got the repair done in a very timely fashion, and even refused when I offered to pay closer to the actual cost of the repair, just because he promised me it would be the price I was paying. 2 months later, the car is still running like new, it's as if I bought an entirely new car! I recommend this place to anyone in the Pasadena area. Trustworthy, honest, fair, speedy and thorough. read more

Then I have to go to a seperate garage to pick up my car. It is what it is.. But they don't make it easy for you, and it's a poorly organized system.
