Nathan seemed to be a nice guy, but later I realized he lacked experience in this field. Started with a chimney crown replacement which later turned in to upperchimney+crown replacement. Since I have a low slope roof, it was easy to check on. The first thing I noticed was the mason/crewmember put one of the new flues on top of a bad old flue that was damaged even though I purchased 4 new clay flues. Larry was not to happy about me pointing this out, but did switch it out. Later I noticed flaking from the crown. I asked about it and I was told it was a curing process, it was not. I used this company for a chimney rebuild (siding and chase) a couple years ago. They did a great job and I was hoping that they would be able to do something similar with my new house. As it turns out they cannot do anything major such as a rebuild due to losing a team member that did their more involved work. Had appointment for 11/1 called many times afterwards for exact time and left voicemails. Not only no call backs from them and a no show from them I left work early for the "1-5 show up" from first phone call making appointment, but not even a call back after calling to have reassurance. Had this unusual smell coming from our chimney during our first burn of the season. Called Nathan who answered the phone right away (didn't get some VM asking to leave a message). This is important factor to me. Nathan was available to come take a look at what the issue was and recommended a cleaning which he was able to schedule with his scheduler right away. We had a complex situation that require coordinating lining a chimney for a new gas fireplace insert, determining whether the chimney chase cover was responsible for externally visible chimney damage, and also repairing the chimney damage, Beyond doing a superb job with everything, the A-Clean crew coordinated all the separate pieces and even left the scaffolding up so we could repaint it after they made repairs. This whole process started with an inspection from another company to get a feeling on the status of our chimney. The initial company, Chimcare, was very reputable based on their Angie's List and Yelp reviews. I had a few more companies come out to inspect and give quotes, one of which was A-Clean. A-Clean's technician Tyler was very knowledgeable and talked through a few options, and even gave another perspective on an issue the first company raised. I gave Chimcare a chance to give an updated quote (along with obtained quotes from others), but they essentially ghosted me. Nathan from A-Clean, on the other hand, was very responsive and talked through the options, and even gave me a call when he needed my email clarified. Given the knowledge expressed by Tyler, and the attentiveness of Nathan, I decided to go with them for a fireplace chimney (above the roof) rebuild. I was able to pick out the chimney color from the supplier that they use. They showed up on time, and were excellent at cleaning up all the pieces of the chimney they took apart. They did the work as expected, and at the end Nathan had his guys come and clean the inside fireplace from the old remnants & cleaned up the face of the bricks outside. I did not need to be onsite for their work which made it very easy. You can pay via credit card which is very useful and made it a lot easier to manage from a finance perspective on my side. I will be reaching out to them again when I'm ready to move forward with converting my old furnace chimney into a vent output. read more

I rated A-Clean two stars instead of just one because initially they seemed great. I asked for an appointment via their web-site to come and look at a broken chimney pipe for my gas boiler, and I got a call back within two days. The woman I spoke with was pleasant and professional and was able to make an appointment a few days out. She gave me the time frame a person would be at my house, and two men showed up exactly on time on that day. They were professional, took a look at the liner from the boiler to the top of the chimney, then described how they would fix or replace the liner (they said it would be pretty easy). He verified my email address so they could send the bid and told me I'd have it in a couple days. So far so good. A week went by and I hadn't received a bid, so I called and left a message. No response. I called again 4 days later and left another message. Still no response. I called again and spoke with a woman who promised me that she'd find the bid and give it to the owner to review immediately. Apparently, the owner has to review all bids before they are given to the potential customer. I still haven't received a bid, nor have I gotten an explanation as to why not. If you don't want the job, let me know. If you haven't had time to look at the bid, let me know. If the job is too difficult for you, let me know, and maybe even help with a recommendation for someone who is capable of doing the job. I know times are good for contractors these days, but it's always a good business decision to treat others with respect and communicate with people who need your service, even if you can't or don't want to do the job. read more

Our chimney has a leak. We could hear water dripping on to our fireplace. We called around and couldn't find anyone to come out quickly. We called A-Clean and they come out the next day. They were prompt, clean and courteous. They did a temporary repair to keep the chimney from leaking while the new part was on order. We had a little oopsie when scheduling, but the boss called, apologized and got someone out the next day. Our chimney had some loose bricks and was really old. We had a few different places come and take a look. Needed to have the chimney torn down to the roofline and redone. A-clean was definitely the best price and they were able to clean and reuse the same brick to avoid having a different look since the brick was too old to match.
