We had a minor plumbing emergency with our kitchen sink today and had no idea who to call. I remembered driving past Tony's truck each time we enter and exit the freeway, and after reading the reviews on Yelp decided to call him. Luckily he was in the area just around the corner. He came over, was extremely polite and accomodating, and was done with the work in about 15 minutes. I cant tell you how much of a load off of my mind this was, I have come to find that I really have absolutely no plumbing skills outside of turning a facuet off and on. Thankfully there are talented, polite, and VERY FAIR plumbers in the area that you can turn to. I know how much we all regret calling a plumber because of the unknown costs, but let me tell you this: Tony is extremely fair and should be the first one on your list when something needs to be done. I called Tony at noon and he said he was busy working on some pipes and would be over in a couple of hours. sweet same day service! he came shortly after one hour. As a first time home renter i was kinda nervous at how the whole plumber process worked. Tony was actually a pleasure to work with and had genuine care for the good "health" of my plumbing system. I had a clogged sink and jammed garbage disposal. He fixed them pretty quick and warned me of all the other problems with my plumbing system that i needed to let my land lord know about. The price wasnt cheap or overly expensive but its like giving a waiter a good tip for great service, sometimes you want them to enjoy the benefits from their labor. Was happy to pay him his price. From the first call to the final result, everything was fast and efficient. I had a leaky shower valve and broken handle. Robert quickly assessed the issues, knew exactly what had to be done, gave me a ball park figure on the spot, and lastly we agreed to a date and time for him to come back. My pilot light went out on my water heater for good and i was thrilled to learn the gas company wouldn't touch it as the venting in the closet was not to code. Not having hot water for over a month, added to imminent sale/loss of the home, had this homeowner on the brink of losing my freaking mind, but along came Rob who saved the day. He deftly recommended a cost-efficient way to replace the heater and bypass the venting that did not set me back half as badly as i was expecting. I had seen Tony's trucks around so I thought I would give him a call when we were having some issues with our sewer. He came out and gave us a diagnosis...it was not pretty. We needed to completely replace our sewer line (the house was built in the 40's and there were some root issues). He spelled everything out for me and was very flexible. They ended up doing a trenchless sewer replacement and although it was not cheap, I know it is something we will never have to worry about again. Since then he or Robert has come out on a couple of calls. They are honest and professional and do what they say they will do when they say they will do it. I only wish I had known them when we remodeled our kitchen and bathrooms. When you find a good barber, mechanic or plumber you stick with them. Expensive and disorganized. I don't recommend. Receptionist needed to put me on hold four times and then ultimately call me back before making an appointment. Then it was $110 just to show up and another $100+ for the actual work. Finally, the guy who showed up didn't seem very knowledgeable and had to keep calling into the office to determine what work needed to be done. They get two stars for showing up at all - since half the plumbers on yelp just don't bother. read more

As soon as Tony found out that I have more than one plumber to give me a quote on a not so small job, his attitude changed and he basically didn't even want to bother to come. He said that he doesn't want to waste his time on people who are getting more than one quote. Finding a professional and honest plumber was appearing to be more difficult than winning the lottery. For almost one month I'd been dealing with plumbers that my warranty was sending for a backed up shower. The first plumber quoted $1,800 to $2,500 for a drain leak but never even bothered checking with the warranty to see if they would approve any of it. After 3 weeks of waiting, the warranty submitted an "emergency" claim to another plumber on Saturday. We waited all day and he never showed up. The next day, after a lot of aggravated calls to my warranty company, they agreed to let me use Tony and be reimbursed. I called Tony Sunday morning and he was at my house by noon. He snaked the drain and inspected all of the pipes under the house via the crawl space. He drew me a diagram showing me exactly what was wrong and what he would be doing to repair it. The quote: $600. Even though he does not work with warranties, he called the warranty with the diagnosis and quote to see if any portion of it would be covered. Dammmmmmmm... I hate having to call a plumber, but wait now i have Tony. I called Tony and he came to my shop within an hour. (I had a cracked pipe) I thought it would have cost me at least $700 to fix, but Tony said he could fix it for $80. Thats right i said $80. He also gave me an option to repipe the drain for $400. I had an emergency on Sunday evening when one of the pipes burst and started flooding my basement. I called A Few Good Plumbers and the guy who took my call was immediately understanding and helpful. He got in touch with the plumber - Angel - who called me back right away. He came over super fast - on a Sunday evening! - and went to work replacing the pipe that had burst. He was nice, knowledgable, helpful, fast and efficient. He showed me what had happened to the pipe and explained why, showed me where he'd replaced it and all was well again. First of all I have never been motivated to write a review until now. I had a leak in the main water line to my property. I attempted to fix it on my own. Not a good idea. I had a great experience working with A Few Good Plumbers. He set up an acceptable appt time, arrived on-time, assessed the situation and offered a reasonable quote to fix the issue. He was clear and thorough in telling me what work he'll be doing and how long it would be. When I advised him what the other plumbing company had quoted me, he advised that while it was an acceptable solution, it was very invasive to my walls (breaking away the walls to re-pipe) and he found an easier solution that would work just the same. His creative thinking was definitely appreciated!! His solution with the routing of the pipes has been working well with no problems at all. While staying with my parents for a few weeks, the kitchen sink and washing machine backed up. I dug around for a few reviews (found this company on yelp) and here's the story: I called Tony this morning a little after 9, said I needed a drain snaked, discussed pricing, and I asked when he could be here... Said he would call in 2 hours, instead of calling he was here in a bit over an hour and a half. Ended up snaking two drains, and patiently listened to my mom while she asked 1000 plumbing related questions. He's a small company, fully licensed, bonded and insured Lic #959879 unlike the big "rooter service" where you have no idea if these people are licensed or insured. I would without hesitation recommend AFGP if you need to have a service call for your elderly parents, or anyone who isn't savvy when it comes to dealing with service people. Tony is an up-front, professional guy. He was done quick, did two drains, and charged less than those smell good plumbers charge for one. read more

When i had my plumbing issue, I asked around but noone had a good plumber they could recommend. So I found Tony on yelp. I called Tony about leaks from my upstairs bathrooms. He took his time to explain the tests he was doing to determine the problem. He had to knock a hole in the ceiling downstairs to troubleshoot because the pipes could not be easily reached upstairs without ripping out the tub wall. He took his time and gave some recommendations but could not finish the job because a part needed to be ordered for the older plumbing. We took the "cheaper" route to see if that would fix the issue because the expensive route would require ripping out a tub. When he came to do the actual work after he got the parts, he informed me that he had revised his plan because he did his homework and analyzed the problem again at home, based on our discussions. The route he chose avoided replacing the more costly valve replacement, and the have leaks stopped. He charged a fair price, and seemed genuinely concerned about getting to the root of the problem without trying to upsell anything, and he got the job done quickly. He was clean and courteous and explained everything he was going to do. I've been gouged by another plumber before and had been dreading the next time I have plumbing issues. But now I have the goto person for my plumbing needs. read more
