I wanted to bring a dessert to a family that has nut allergies. I researched and researched and had a difficult time finding something special. I stumbled upon A la mode Shoppe. After chatting with the staff on the phone, who could not be nicer, I came to the shoppe. The ice cream was so delicious that I took some home for myself. I loved the coffee chip. I was surprised to find that they were a full service children's boutique with so many gift options. I intend to purchase online when I need a child's gift or something sweet. We visited A La Mode all the way from Upper Michigan today, and I cannot saw enough good things about this shop! It was an amazing experience for my 15 year old nut-allergic son to be able to try scooped ice cream! There is a great variety of fun flavors. We tried samples of them all, and every single one was delicious. We loved Cooks, Partly Cloudy, and Strawberry Cheesecake! The man working was super helpful, friendly, and kind! The shop is cute, clean, and charming. There are many fun details like color-changing spoons and nut-free toppings that can be added! This is a darling, little shop that sells ice cream, but also some children's clothes and toys as well. Little kids (including my own) love this place! They have a separate sitting room that includes tiny chairs and tables, plus a toy ice cream stand and some other things the kids can play with. Guys, I truly can't say enough wonderful things about A La Mode and the employees there! I wish I could give them 6 stars for the best service ever! We went with a group of about 30 people after our morning wedding last week, because we wanted a quick stop off near Central Synagogue. It was the most fun for a mini reception imaginable!! I knew I didn't want a traditional kind of party after the ceremony, and this was just the thing. I know they do birthday parties and ice cream socials and whatnot at A La Mode too, so why not an after-wedding reception? In advance of the "big day," I chatted with Noah on the phone to go over timing and options - and he was not only helpful, but really friendly. He stayed in touch with me the week before, was always quick to respond to my messages, and made the whole thing simple and fun. We made a plan, and showed up to his cheery energy - he even took polaroid photos of us with our ice cream cones! Thank you, Noah! Obviously, the ice cream was also delicious, and our guests raved about all of the different flavors. They had a good mix of "kid flavors" like pink sprinkles and "adult flavors" like coffee. Yummy, and a fun ambiance all around. (Oh, and the pink striped bathroom is a great spot for a selfie - just saying!) I always pass by this cute spot when I'm in midtown. So one day, I decided to stop by and try out their ice cream. I got 4 different flavors of ice cream and asked for toppings. Instead of putting the toppings on top of the ice cream, the staff put the toppings in a paper cup for me to take. The ice cream was below average, I recommend walking to the Duane Reade to pick up a pint of ice cream instead (huge ice cream lover.) I think A La Mode Shoppe does its best in trying to advertise children's apparel and toys rather than its homemade ice cream. read more

We came in from out of town today with my son who had nut allergies. We didn't know the store was closed on Mondays. There was someone in the store who noticed us outside and came to the door. He explained they were closed but he happened to be there briefly so he could accommodate for a few minutes. He was very kind, and let my son try different flavors. I wish I could choose more than 5 stars! We just had our daughter's first birthday at A La Mode Shoppe on Saturday, and we could not be happier! The shop is absolutely adorable and the staff is incredible! Sandy, the owner, is extremely hands on and made the planning for the party as seamless as possible (she did so much (decorations, paper goods, favors, etc!) for us that I felt guilty that there was nothing left for me to plan!). We fell in love with both Noah and Kenny, who also helped with our party and smiling non stop! Everything is tastefully done and simply to perfection - from the paper goods they stock (Meri Meri), to the fun color changing spoons and incredible age-appropriate party favors (I got so many texts from friends about how amazing and nice they were and so appropriate for each of the kids). Top notch on it all! When we arrived to the shop 30 minutes before the party began, everything was set up perfectly! All decorations and balloons were done! They helped us unload and unpack the catered food told us to just relax and have fun.By the end of the party, in a blink of an eye, everything was already cleaned up and the gifts were packed and ready to go. They even helped us load the car and gave us some ice cream to go and a birthday gift for my daughter! I cannot stop raving about this shop - please RUN to have your next birthday here! We are from out of town and our first experience here was absolutely great! They let us try everything! Our nut allergic son loved the ice cream which was so nice because we have no options like this at home. We returned for a second visit, however were disappointed to see they closed early. Not only did they close before closing time on the website for their party, but they had posted they closed at 6:30 on the door. We showed up at 6:20 and they refused to answer the door and turned away. Such a huge disappointment for an excited 2 year old because they couldn't be bothered to stay open until posted hours. While their ice cream is good, I would call ahead to double check they're open to avoid disappointment. read more

The Pink Sprinkle ice cream is rich and tasty! Reminds me of the Birthday cake remix from Coldstone Creamery minus the brownie, which you can bake and add in yourself. Unfortunately due to nut allergies, I've reacted too many times and had to quit my love for Coldstone. Even if they catered to nut allergic individuals, I was still reacting probably due to cross contamination or unknown tiny nut particles. Cannot say enough good things about my experience at A La Mode today... I've had severe food allergies my entire 22 years and I've never encountered an ice cream shop where I could eat safely. This alone deserves 5 stars, but the service I had was above and beyond too. The lady working today (I wish I had asked her name!) was so excited for me to eat store-bought ice cream for the first time ever that she insisted I try EVERY SINGLE FLAVOR. After giving me basically an entire cone's worth of samples, SHE DIDN'T EVEN CHARGE ME FOR MY ICE CREAM! Needless to say I tipped her like crazy. They have a whole ingredient book available and the woman was very willing to answer questions about all their products. I told her I'll be coming in once a week and I mean it! Such an adorable spot! I passed A La Mode on my way home and was curious to see what was inside. The interior was adorable, with all sorts of children's clothing, accessories, and treats lined the walls. This would be a great place for kids. NUT-FREE!! PEANUT-FREE!! SESAME-FREE!! Honestly, best experience of our week-long trip to NYC. It was our allergic son's first time in an ice cream shoppe (at age 10!), and he hasn't stopped talking about it since. Noah, our server, is the nicest guy ever! He encouraged our kids to try every ice cream flavor in the case before deciding which one they wanted. Then, because it was our first time, he comp'd my son's order, and it looked more like three scoops than one. Amazing, yummy, safe, and well worth the trek across town. I practically cried watching my son eat ice cream for the first time. Highly recommend!! And thank you, Noah, for giving us a life-changing experience. Finally!! Midtown East has its very own ice cream shop. And its delicious! We had the chocolate covered pretzel ice cream which was divine. We ordered a variety of ice cream shipped to our house in Ohio as one of our children has a nut allergy. The ice cream was fantastic and my daughter was thrilled to have real store bought ice cream for the first time in her life. While the cost might seem high at first, the price not served our five kids and two adults and we figured it to be less money than had we taken everyone out for ice cream (which we never do due to the allergies).
