We ate there on a Tuesday evening about 6 The burnt end dinner was horrible The meat tasted like it had been reheated repeatedly and was a dark charcoal color -it tasted even worse-we had to send it back it was so bad . The baked beans were just as bad-they were hard and crusty and tasted bad. We grabbed food to go here recently. When we go to KC we enjoy trying different BBQ joints and hadn't been here yet so decided to give it a try. Overall, it was a pleasant experience and the wait for our order was fairly quick. We did not eat inside but I liked the car theme they have going on. We opted for the full slab of ribs and one meat platter, with brisket, beans, and Mac & cheese. The ribs were definitely the highlight of the meal: hot, fresh, flavorful and juicy. I also loved the spicy BBQ sauce. The brisket was a big disappointment, pretty dry and bland. Wished we had opted for burnt ends or something else. The beans were good, but I've definitely enjoyed other variations more. The Mac and cheese was classic rubber Mac, yum. The bread was just plain white bread and really didn't add anything to the meal. Definitely not the best BBQ in KC, but this was fun to try. read more

Well, that was a treat. We'd actually planned to visit a place across the street, but there were no cars in their lot. We'd seen this place a time or two, and (having discussed BBQ as an option) we decided the parking lot full of cars was a good sign. We walked into some REALLY COOL DECOR! Old cars and car parts, cools signs, derby cars, bench seats for booth seats and a car bar! It's a neat place for any BBQ lovers OR car enthusiast! If you're both, this place was MADE for you! Our server was amazing and attentive to us. The food was probably the best suprise. It wasn't just delicious, it was satisfying!! Those were some of the best burnt ends we've ever tried (and there are a LOT of places on that list being a KC native). Their in-house BBQ sauces are a treat, as well! Quaint little place in the middle of nowhere, nice atmosphere with cars as the background for this place with lots of old time trucks all over the inside . So this restaurant makes me love KC that much more. The bartenders are hilarious and make you feel really welcome, the BBQ is melt in your mouth, and the atmosphere is really fun. We had the burnt ends, the pulled pork and sausage sandwich, spicy coleslaw, and mac n cheese. Brunt ends melt in your mouth with all kinds of flavor, no sauce required. Sausage was spicy with a delicious flavor and not intrusive but left a memorable taste that made you want more. It mixed well with the pulled pork. Spicy coleslaw was light and crisp, with a good tang to it. It was purple and not creamy which I prefer. The mac and cheese was good but I think they are still working on perfecting it. Not as thick as I'd like but still good. Fries were light battered and good. Anyway, this place started out as a casual drop in but will be one of our regular places from now on. I was out in the independence area with a new hire. Saw this funky bbq spot figured we would stop, because I love BBQ. I would say it was ok, the interior is awesome and so is the outside. I would definitely come back for a drink. The bbq will not win any awards in my opinion. I will be fair and give it another try because it could have been an off day. However the Cheesy corn was bland, needed more salt and pepper for whatever reason there wasn't any on the table. Baked beans were really good especially with big chunks of beef in them. The spicy sausage we juicy and good, but the regular sausage was dry. The first bite of the burnt ends was good and moist. The rest of them were dry and had a vinegar taste at the end which I had never tasted before with burnt ends. Definitely a funky BBQ joint, I will give them another shot. read more

Dry, dry, dry! If you like to chew and you are craving dry meat this is your spot. I was so excited about bringing an out of town friend here to experience some great KC BBQ. The waitress was great recommending some of their specialties such as the homemade sausage and the pea salad. We ordered burnt ends which were grisly and tasted like dry cubesd steak. We had sausage which seemed to have dried out under a warmer for many hours. The brisket was so dry it was difficult to chew and impossible to swallow even after being dunked in sauce. Was throughly disappointed when I placed my first online pickup order and the food was subpar. I usually order their famous burnt ends but this time 50% of the burnt end bites were all fat and no meat. I was asked to wait until my order was ready when I arrived at the restaurant. After w few minutes they gave me my order but it had been sitting on the counter in front of both me and the waitress the entire time I was waiting. Also they advertise the burnt ends as a whole 1/2lbs and I've never had an issue with portioning until now when I ordered online. There were barely enough pieces to cover the slice of bread with it. The meat was good - what there was of it. We got around 5 slices of very tender brisket over half a slice of bread, 2 sides consisted of a cup of very average baked beans and bland cheesy corn - both were just lukewarm temperature, and a pickle - for $16.99. I was so disappointed and sorry we chose to celebrate a birthday meal here. Thankfully the service was good and we tipped accordingly, but I don't see us coming back here in the future. read more

Let me first say the ribs are ALWAYS great and tender and tasty I just wanted to try something different. I can't say enough these were by far the BEST burnt ends I have ever had anywhere!! OK, first off, this is not a "fine dining" experience. It's an old school greasy, dark, loud bbq joint. There are spiderwebs under the tables, the booths squeak and I'm pretty sure I need a tetanus shot after using their bathroom. So if you're looking for a Michelin Star experience, this ain't it. What it does offer is MEAT. And a whole lot of it for a really good price. This place is probably Kansas City's best kept secret. I got a succulent, melt in your mouth brisket sandwich for 10 bucks that I couldn't even dream of finishing. Let alone the sides which were excellent as well. A $15 dinner plate here could easily feed two hungry people. It's only about 15 minutes from the Royals/Chiefs stadiums, so if you're in the Independence area and don't have a lot of cash, this is the place to go. The decor in this place is crazy! But it makes for a one of a kind experience. We sat at the table that was covered by glass but inside the table was an old school car yard scene, pretty cool really. Mac n cheese was dry and appeared microwaved. My sons food was basically the same, dry and not fresh. All three of us disliked the 3 bbq sauces. Not one of us finished our food, which is almost unheard of. Definitely will not be going back. Best part of the meal were the French fries and beer. Service was good though. I know Walmart Brand potato salad, and bush's baked beans when I taste them. You have no business charging $5 for the sides. Not to mention the ranch was also hidden valley.
